Glad to be starting off, hope you're all doing well! Leaning onto the countertop of the Dew Drop kitchen, a few of the groceries had escaped the bags she recently purchased, rolling onto the same countertop. Smirking, as if they were going to roll away from her capable hands, Rina placed the sneaky tomatoes and onions back up, and onto the chopping board. No one else had entered the kitchen's backside yet, leaving her alone in the building she had been growing and making for the few years she's had it. Twirling behind her, a case of cutting knives were displayed, making her intrigued of what type of cut she wanted to display today. The sun had yet to rise, but it rose within her as she began to simmer butter and salt into a frying pan, dicing up those runaway tomatoes and onions. Sifting through her groceries, a case of eggs sitting on top of other things caught her eye, grabbing and cracking over 7 eggs to mix in. A soft squeak had escaped from the back door, getting Rina to look up and smile. Her top Sous Chef had entered, immediately taking to the left over groceries and putting them away.
"I take it your usual?" Chuckling as he finished the last of the groceries, Zion, as he was named naturally, came back and began to roll his sleeves up. "Just getting everyone's morning settled. I started brewing coffee. Could you finish and prep, please?" Nodding to the espresso machine and coffee pot beside it, Rina continued to make her breakfast, and even had the time to pick out 5 plates and serving trays. Meanwhile Zion had done just about the same, and brought the prepared cups and creamer/sugar sets to outside, glared only momentarily by the rising sun. Putting them on the tables in the back, Zion returned to the kitchen to finish up what Rina was making. The two had finished cleaning their mess, to which the other three morning staff had arrived, sitting down and looking to the food with a hunger like an army. An uproar of laughter in the back alley had risen and fallen, soft voices idly chattering about their night before, some stories here and there. The three others had grabbed the used plates and dishes, getting the shift ready with elbow grease and eagerness, cleaning the breakfast tables and starting the day. One had flipped the sign in the front door, explaining they were now ready for business. Getting to their stations, the first half hour of the day was slow, no customers in sight, making the small busy work easier to get out of the way.
Rina, however, was already prepping and beginning the menu of the day, informing those who were left in the kitchen of what the specials and daily deal was. Control and poise was apart of the job, but everyone who had ever met or worked with Rina knew her to be too kind, too sweet. Waving the boys and girls away, she started with baking, making bread by hand with both a tenderness and love that any realy mother could give to her children. By the time she was waiting for the bread to rise, Rina had a moment to breathe, take in her store, her glory. Sure there was war, battles, magic crazy people all over the city of Lusia... But my place is their home away from home. Refugee, even. She took pride in her thoughts, glad to be of help to anyone might need it. Looking over her shoulder, she could see the lobby floor was lighting up with the sun's rise, with the shuffle of feet outside the restaurant, people beginning their morning. ♠xx♠xx♠ -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ♠xx♠xx♠

It's not like the one I tried making, but it's as good as it's getting, pbbfft. It had been a few hours since the restaurant opened, busy at times, like any other place. Dew Drop Inn had recently received a star in excellence by the city council, being one of the top go to places the town of Lusia could retreat to. The newspapers had called it "a refreshing home away from home," and even gushed about the food served within. With the article's printing, fame of the restaurant would bring more customers in than Rina had ever hoped to have. Feeling a sense of pride in her good works, and those she employed, Rina leaned back on the frame of the kitchen, and overlooked the lobby area. Upon viewing, a couple stood out to her, making her feel a sense of love in her heart, glad that people were still outwardly romantic and cheerful amidst this war with "witches" and the other countries. I wonder when he'll get back... It'd be nice to brighten their time here, maybe have them sample that. Still pondering at the placement of one of her workers, Rina was caught off guard with a tap on her shoulder, with Zion returning and holding two bags of groceries in one arm. "I got what was on the list. You sure this powder makes a cake? It looks rather funny; can even smell it out of the packets..." Taking an empty place on the countertops, the two unpacked and organized what was required to make this co called "cake." Getting prepped for cooking, Rina started on this recipe she had heard about while in the market yesterday morning, curious about some edible see through food. Balancing the amount of mineral water and the powder to make the ratio just perfect, she had looked back at her written formula every two seconds, likely getting a crick in her neck from the constant motion. With her feverish movement catching attention of the other cooks in the kitchen, by the time she had finished, she poured her mixing bowl into a round plastic mold, making sure it was chilled before placing her mixture into the mold and setting it in the industrial sized fridge. "Okay, everyone, make sure not to TOUCH that under any circumstances. Got it?" Her face was playful, but her tone was serious and deadly, taking it above herself to be exact with her works. Looking back out at the lobby, the couple was still sitting down, idly cooing and ahhing each other. Reaching for a white bowl and some ingredients from one of the cabinets, Rina popped her head up, insinuating that the crew continue working, and went back to her station she was cooking at before. Putting the bowl on a serving tray, and grabbing a fish bowl cover to place aside, the ingredients he had grabbed at were Honey Maple Syrup the restaurant made itself, graham cracker crumbles, and a mint branch. Plucking the three leaves on the mint branch, two were then immediately chopped up and minced to mix with the crumbles, while the last was for display. Taking two spoons and putting them beside the bowl on the tray, Rina went back to the fridge and checked on the consistency of the cake. Glad with it's turn out, she had scooped it up with an oversized spoon and plopped it into the bowl. Afterwards came the syrup around it, like a small moat for a Castle, and graham cracker crumbles to one side, with the final touch being the mint leaf sticking onto the top. Pleased with her presentation, the crew had come back around to check on the cake, making the same sounds as the couple were earlier. Placing the fish bowl cover atop, to hide her masterpiece, Rina gracefully stepped out into the lobby, approaching the couple. "Hello, apologies for the intrusion. I am Rina, the executive chef here of Dew Drop Inn. I'd like to ask if I might interest you in taste testing a new product I've come to make for everyone here." Just as bright as before, her smile stole the show, expressing her overly eager demeanor. The couple, stunned but excited to be asked, mirrored the same willing expression. "Before I have to try this newfound dessert, I must ask that you sign this consent form of consumption and agreement. It simply states that you understand and acknowledge that you are the first to have this new product, and are aware of any complications that might follow after. Such as dissatisfaction or a segregation of product testing. You know, normal things." Chuckling afterwards, she kept her smile as she spoke, confusing and somewhat making the couple wary. Nodding slowly in agreement, a crew member brought up the form and a pen for each to sign, then took it away. Gleeful to continue, Rina spoke once more. "And now to present, what we call a "Rain'dew'drop" Cake; aligned with our homemade recipe of honey maple syrup, topped with graham cracker crumbles, and mint leaves for exaggeration of flavor. Bon Appetit!" Removing the cover, the couple's eyes were as glossy as the cake, ready to dive in. Removing it from the tray, Rina placed both spoons in the dish, in front of each customer, and stepped back to bow. Looking up from her bowing position, she could see their faces light up, devouring it within a minute. Standing by now, the two had raved and highly complimented her dish, hopeful to see it on the menu more often, if not consistently. Pleased with the success, Rina bowed again and left the couple to go to the kitchen. Collapsing onto the frame of the kitchen area, she squealed and squeaked with joy, overwhelmed with the fact she had made and designed a new dessert. A sort of ecstasy for her, Rina placed the tray and cover onto the nearest counter top and retreated to her office. Almost falling into her chair, her brain couldn't contain her happiness, as a knock immediately interrupted her moment. "So we'll be having that on the menu's, for tomorrow, Ms. Chronolympus? Waving Zion in, Rina chuckled again. "Rina. It's Rina, please. And of course! Did you see how they looked when they bit into it?! I think we could make other mixes with it, like macha, or lemon, or strawberry! I'm so excited! We certainly are keeping this." He began to snicker, too, seeing her reaction to the situation. It was about time for her to leave for the afternoon/night crew to change shifts, giving her some time during the day. Looking to the clock, Rina bit at her lip, hopeful that some shops were still open after 4 pm. Gotta buy more of that powder. Maybe some decorative plates to accent it! Okay, okay, first, check on rounds and then go.Getting up from her chair, Rina let Zion out first, glad that her second in command was there to see how she prepared and made the cake for the rest of the night to order and create. Patting the occasional shoulder she'd pass as she made rounds, she had finished with the kitchen and went out to the barside, seeing if the bartenders were okay and required anything. Finishing up with both them and the waiters/waitresses that had passed her, Rina sighed, glad at her job well done for the day, and looked back at the clock. Okay, exactly 4. Everyone's good. Nodding at her mental checklist, she looked to every section and then proceeded to go up stairs on any last check ups with customers. Done, and now making her way to the kitchen again, Rin coat checked her apron set and sat at the bar. "I think I'll have a neat grapefruit vodka, please. Thank you, Tiffany." Placing a few dollars change into her tip jar, Rina smiled continuously as she sipped her overly filled tall glass, seeing that she was given special treatment; what with being the owner and worker and such. "So, any new news or interesting stories going about?♠xx♠xx♠ -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ♠xx♠xx♠
