Caia didn’t have a habit or a routine to settle in; he went out when he could, and went to wherever he could. Generally, he went out alone—not because he preferred it, but just because it wasn’t exactly easy to find someone with the same schedule as him.
He wasn’t a very good Senshi; most of his actions consisted of chasing away youma if he saw them, but he rarely even wound up fighting with any of them—and he almost never fought with an agent or a Dark Mirror Senshi.
Which, theoretically, was good, because it meant they weren’t out and causing trouble?
Still, it left him feeling vaguely unsatisfied; he was trying to push himself, trying to be a good Senshi.
Tonight, he was out looking for trouble. To stop, of course!
Only, he seemed to be the only one who had thought tonight was a good idea to go out because he hadn’t seen anyone, and after half an hour of being the only person out he was wondering if he’d missed some new curfew or if something was going on to keep everyone inside.
He paused for a second and scratched his chin. Another quick look around yielded nothing, and for a split second he was regretting going out of his way to stomach a whole energy drink to make sure he was out and prepared for tonight.
Upon closer inspection, he thought he saw movement in a distant bush, lurking in the shadows—but out here, in the park? It was more likely he’d stumbled upon a bunny or squirrel or something.
Still, he cleared his throat and called, “Hello?”
…If it was a youma, he wasn’t sure what he expected it to answer.

Benedict had not really been expecting to run into a senshi - nor this particular one, really, as he popped out of the bushes, shaking off the twigs and leaves that had managed to get caught in his fur with an aggressive shake. He HATED nature - it was so DIRTY. But, his job as a Guardian required him to roam about and ensure that no senshi went un-awakened or uneducated. Even if SOME could not appreciate that fact, like that one with the tattoos and the group of senshi friends - the nerve! Well joke was on her! She chased him off before he could finish telling her everything and giving her her phone, so she'd have to deal. At least Ayane had been nice and taken him home and fed him good caviar and steak and... Oh right! The senshi that he had just jumped out in front of! He regonized him of course. Caia - the one he had awakened not all that long ago if he recalled. Taking a moment to lick his paw and begin smoothing fur back into place, Benedict rumbled a purred greeting. "Privet, tovarishch Caia! How are you this evening? Are you doing well? Forgive me my current state of... uncleanliness, nature is unkind to fur." His voice still oscillated between the heavy British and Russian accent that seemed to thicken his words more than they should. He continued to groom as he talked, his paw trying to dislodge a somewhat bothersome twig from under the wrap of his ribbon.

Caia would have recognized that accented voice everywhere. “Benedict!” he greeted. He’d only understood a portion of what the Mauvian had said, but he figured it couldn’t have been anything bad. It almost sounded familiar, but he was afraid to ask what it meant in case he was supposed to know. “What are you doing out here, then! Here,” he moved closer and crouched next to him.
“Do you want some help? I have fingers,” he said, pinching at the air with his indexes and thumbs. He wanted to pet the him, but even looking at him it was hard to remember that he wasn’t a cat, he was a super intelligent alien creature.
…That looked so soft and fluffy…

"I would love the assistance, tovarishch Caia!" Bendict said, moving over toward the senshi, only stopping once or twice to paw at the annoying stick stuck in the ribbon before finally stopping within reaching distance of the young man, tail flicking as he looked up. "But for my lack of thumbs, I'd be able to get it but sadly it seems to desire to remain despite my best efforts. Thank you for your help," the cat said, turning his body to present the stick to the senshi to hopefully extract from the plush fur and ribbon that it had tangled itself in. "How fairs you?" He asked then, his eyes looking him over. "You seem different than last we spoke."

“I think I’m okay!” Caia said, flashing a quick smile. His eyes darted up to Benedict’s face only briefly before returning to the twig. He flopped onto the ground and crossed his legs before carefully tugging removing it from his fur. “I don’t feel like I’m going crazy this time, so maybe that’s it! Plus, I’ve been having a really good week. Do you want to keep this? Souvenir?” he asked, waving the little twig in the air.
Still, he’d only gotten a small sample of Benedict’s fur when he’d been retrieving the twig, and now that he was sitting on the ground he just couldn’t help himself. He reached over and fluffed the cat’s fur a bit, using the excuse, “Oh, your ribbon is crooked, let me help.”
The ribbon was fine, of course, but he was banking on the fact that there weren’t enough mirrors out here for Benedict to call him out on it.
“What were you doing in the woods, though? That’s no place for you, you’re too handsome.”

Benedict allowed Caia to "fix" his ribbon, though he was fairly certain that it was resting where it should be, but all the same, he didn't mind the extra fluff to his fur. Actually, once Caia was sitting down on the ground, Benedict just climbed into his lap without so much as a by your leave. Resting his head on his paws, he let out a low purr. "You may pet me if you'd like, Caia, I am not one to turn down a good fur fluffing." Benedict said through the rumble of his purr. "I am glad that you are doing okay, tovarishch, that means you are getting used to this whole thing, no?" Eyes looked up at Caia at the question and Benedict let out a low snort. "Well, I was patrolling to see if there were any senshi that needed to be awakened, but I see that my running into you again must have been fate..." He could feel that there was something different about Caia - something just sitting beneath the surface. "Are you sure nothing has changed?"

Caia seemed just elated when Benedict climbed into his lap. He didn’t hesitate to take Benedict up on his offer and immediately began combing his fingers through his fur. “I don’t know,” he said after a moment, tilting his head to look down at the Mauvian. “I don’t think anything has changed. I’ve been practicing, trying to be a better Senshi, but I don’t think I’m doing anything differently. I’ve been doing my patrols, made a few friends. Gotten into a few fights but I made it out okay. I’m still not a great fighter—that definitely hasn’t changed. Um.”
He pursed his lips in thought and hummed for a second before shaking his head. “I still live with my brother. I made some new candles? That’s new. I got my hair cut?” A few weeks ago, and in nearly the exact same style as he usually had, but he was straining to think what could be new. Finally, as he was scratching behind Benedict’s ears, he asked, “Why, what do you think changed?”

Benedict turned in Caia's lap, before rising up onto his hind legs and reaching out with a paw to poke the young man in the nose. "Ah, see, there has been changes." He said letting out a small chuckle. "You've grown in knowledge and power..." Speaking of power... Ah, yes - that was it. Yes, he was ready for this, Benedict thought. "I think you are ready to take the next step!" Benedict said with a chuckle, patting the boys cheek with a paw, before placing a paw on his forehead, and reaching deep down into his kitty self - and drawing the locked away potential inside of Caia. He would make the boy a Super Senshi - it seemed only fair!

Caia seemed a little surprised; his eyes crossed as he tried to look at his forehead to see what Benedict was doing with his paw. “Well, I suppose I’ve grown a little in those aspects, but—what’s the next stage?”
He had never been much for video games, but all he could think of was graduating from one level to the next—and that meant everything got more dangerous…but it meant you were one step closer to the end.
Even if Benedict’s words were kind though, he couldn’t take him seriously. “Oh, you are too cute,” he muttered, combing his fingers through the fur on the Mauvian’s chest and tickling under his furry little armpits.

"Hush, Caia, Tovarishch, I am trying to concentrate..." Benedict purred as Caia's hands tickled his fur. Calling on his powers as a Guardian, he reached into Caia and with a concentrated effort, unlocked the latent potential within the boy - allowing the power to fill the boy's vessel even further. "Now, Caia, you shall shine all the more brightly." The cat practically crowed. Before removing his paw from the boy's forehead and hopping off his lap. "Accept your new potential, Caia, and arise as a Super Senshi!" He just hoped the young man was ready for the new responsibilities as well.

“Oh,” Caia said only, before nodding and forcing himself to be quiet. It was a strange sensation—not necessarily good or bad, or anything. It was just strange, like sucking in a breath before diving under water. Only, this felt like the realization that you could hold more air than you thought. It was a strange feeling of satisfaction and accomplishment and at first he didn’t know what Benedict was saying and then it clicked.
“Oh, wait, I don’t want to stand up, I wanna pet you,” he griped, but it was clearly half hearted. He pushed himself up and examined his outfit at the same time; it took him until he was just out of a crouch to realize he was a Super Senshi.
“Oh,” he said suddenly. “Oh, Benedict! Wait—really?”
He stood upright and straightened his clothes out. “—Really, are you sure? I don’t want to mess this up!”
A smile had already dawned on his face and he was glowing; he knew he’d wanted to get better, to be stronger, but he hadn’t expected it would have come like this. He laughed, excitement and glee in his voice, and scooped Benedict up to squeeze him. “Thank you! I’m going to work so hard, I’m not going to let you down!”

Benedict could have crowed for joy - that is, if crowing were dignified and cats could in fact crow. "I am sure, tovarishch Caia, your latent potential has been unlocked and now you are stronger - you had grown, and you were ready, I have just turned the key to the lock - you provided the rest." The cat said with no small amount of smug self-satisfaction. "You will be stronger than before - faster too... Your powers will have more... umph." The cat motioned with its paw as it talked. "I know you will not let me down Caia - you are as they say - a smart cookie."

Caia blinked, clearly surprised that Benedict would consider him a smart cookie. He smiled, torn between happiness and confusion and riding out the wave of both.
“Okay,” he said, again with conflicting emotions of eagerness and the faint tingle of worry. “I’ll work hard,” he promised, “I won’t want to let you down. Or mess up!”
More power meant more trouble, and Caia was every bit the danger to himself that the enemy was, if only because he had a cloud of unluckiness seemed to follow him.
He gave Benedict one last squeeze before setting him down.
“I’m going to go work on doing good, right now!”
