It was clear. Each time something began, uprooted, shattered, regrew, finished... there was something about this park. She looked over the faint green waves of Veteran's Park, her steps hesitant as she walked the empty paths. The n** of winter was still upon them, a bitter wind cutting through her uniform now and then when it picked up. Beyond the walls of the park, the rest of the city was awake still, though the sun had long since set. In her hands, clutched to her chest, she held the mask she'd brought from her world.

                Nevetira's mask.

It felt... it felt so strange to recall such things now. Her gloved hands gripped the golden mask, the stones set within its features catching the light of the street lights, refracting them like prisms. With each step she took, she could hear the tiny chains chime gently from where they hung across the curving branches that would sit atop the head. Her fingers rested against the solid plate, carved and detailed so that it looked as if it might be bone plate grafted under the gold, covered across the forehead and where the wearer's eyes would be. Connected to the mask, stretched back ornate swirls over their ears, blocking them from most sounds of the outside world. The gems, carved in spheres, diamonds, and ovals, formed symbols and features out of their glistening surfaces, accenting the designs carved into and embossed on the gold mask. The seven largest stones were arranged at specific points, all to represent the senses that are used to comprehend the world around them, and those beyond--sound, touch, taste, smell, thought, and finally, the third eye.

It was a hope and a wish and a prayer that this would work. Nevetira's voice still whispered reassuringly in her head, the prayers and encouragements she'd once spoken to a young, confused, and ever stubborn senshi.

What would she say now, if she knew to what ends that same senshi hoped to use her mask? She looked down to it, to the faint white aura that emitted from the crystals that sat upon the mask's face, crown, and ears. Surely... surely there was truth to it?

Her grip tightened a bit on the mask. If she, Lilith Calchas, could remember events and faces and names of those whom she'd never met in this life, why could Victoria not remember those he'd known in this life? Memories were not just of the brain. They stained the soul, bound themselves up in its very fiber and essence and self. Even if they were not always accessible. They still were present. It merely took... the proper tools to step into those hidden, locked away places. If she was correct, if someone out there could hear her prayers and wishes, and see how hard she was crossing her fingers that this would work...

"Victoria?" She called out gently, her voice hopeful. She could sense a corrupt's energy, and though there was always the chance it wasn't him, she couldn't keep herself from a warm, happy smile as she picked up her pace, the tiny chains tinkling like laughing bells in her arms.

"I have... I have something I want you to try," she said as she looked for him, her fingers crossed. She had to hope. She had to have faith. It was the cornerstone of who her people were, she was realizing. Faith in what they could not see, faith in what they could only believe in. Faith that the sun would yet rise, even if they were not there to see it themselves. So she held her faith, that even there among the chill of the night, she would yet feel the warmth of the sun come morning, her friend smiling and laughing with her.

Victoria looked up. He had actually been looking for Metis, though he'd been fighting the ideas and thoughts she'd offered him. Doing his best to ignore anything anyone had given him that might indicate or be inklings of who he was in the past beyond the pieces of the puzzle that presented themselves to him. The Princess named Iris, and Metis; currently were the largest puzzle pieces he was concerned with.

Metis though . . . he still wanted to bring her over with him. Away from the loneliness that was order. He smiled, "Metis" He said when she said his name.

There was some fondness from the corrupt senshi of glory. Though it slowly turned to curiosity. "What do you have?" He was looking over the piece of rather large, jewelry in her hands.

His voice relieved her, and her shoulders relaxed as her smile grew. She approached him quickly, the mask still clutched to her. Of course, his curiosity was only natural, and a bit of color hit her cheeks that had nothing to do with the n** in the air as she again looked down to the inanimate object illuminated by her energy and its own faint glimmerings of energy still within the crystals.

Licking her lips, she thought of how to best explain it. "It's... well, it's a mask, an artifact, from my world. My asteroid, the asteroid Metis?" She paused and tipped her head back to more focus on him, waiting to get acknowledgement that such a statement might have made sense. "While I was there, I had... memories. Of my previous life there. A woman who used this mask... she was a spiritual leader to my people. This... this helped her to focus, to clear her mind." Her smile had turned affectionate and wistful as she spoke, and she knew she was babbling when she paused and shook herself a bit. "I... apologize. My people-- that is... the people that once were on my asteroid, were... highly spiritual, you see. I suppose it's a bit... infectious to me," she joked, hoping to lighten the mood.

She realized this was an odd request even as she extended her arms, and the mask, towards him. "Would... would you be willing to try it with me? I can walk you through a meditation I remembered. It... well. If nothing else, it should relax you." She didn't want to say and bring back your memories, though it was what she prayed for above all else. She didn't want to turn him away from it, or make him reject her idea but...

...but the more she thought on it, and her grip again tightened on the mask, she realized such... secrecy was... harmful. Was it not what lead to his corruption, these lies?

"I... I want to see if perhaps through meditation we can... we can figure out what happened to your mind. Your memories, I mean. I realize it's perhaps a silly concept but... If you would be willing, I'd... I'd be grateful."

He paused looking at her as she spoke, realizing she wanted him to acknowledge that what she was talking about made some sense. He'd heard mentions of other worlds, that they had come from. He slowly nodded as he watched her.

Previous lives. Words that resonated with him but he sighed, while she was talking about something completely different he couldn't help but think of his previous life before corruption.

He continued to listen to her as she spoke about 'here people' and 'spiritual leaders', for some reason something seemed to nibble at him as she continued to talk though when she mentioned meditation. There was another and a small sigh, while it wasn't a horrible idea he wasn't sure if it was the safest idea. Before he answered her though she continued.

"Oh." He said softly when she added it may aid in what happened to his memories. Why would he care? He was happy here, he didn't want to keep drudging up things that might not make him . . . happy?

However, she was trying and the super senshi closed his eyes for a moment thinking before shaking his head, "Alright, alright. I'll try it." He didn't want to leave her alone, he knew it had to be lonely; why else would she keep meeting up with him. It wasn't a lot but still, his heart ached for her knowing that she was over there; potentially alone like he was. Left to try to figure things out and lost. Maybe if he amused her enough he could coax hr to join him? They could be happy together then, right?

It was impossible to miss that he didn't perk up at her words, and though it stung, she kept a smile on her face. When he at least agreed to try it, her smile grew despite herself, and she couldn't help but feel a small, small flicker of hope and joy. "If anything, it'll give you a fun way to meditate after this?" She tried to laugh about it all but... she hoped.

She so, so hoped it would work...

"Here, just put the mask on. It'd designed to keep you from seeing, muffle your breathing--but you can still breath, just you'll smell the incense and not the city air... oh, and it'll muffle your hearing a good bit. But it won't hurt you. Once you're set, you just stand, or you can sit, and I'll begin talking you through the steps of the meditation."

He didn't want to tell her that he'd seen some of these other supposed memories. They didn't feel like his and he had no connection to them. He didn't want to disappoint her, but he didn't want to get her hopes too high either.

He paused when she said it'd muffle his breathing, hearing and well sight. "I think . . . I'll probably sit for this. While I'm fairly well balanced, ya'know sometimes things happen."

He did actually settled down beside her, "Are you going to sit too?" He asked curiously as he looked at her and took the mask. Before sighing and placing it on his head; Victoria was hoping he wasn't going to regret this immensely.

After he put it on he took a second to adjust to having this thing on his head before taking a deep breath of the incense; it smelled almost . . . earthy? He still wasn't really sure about this, but at least it was something nice. "Sooo . . . now what?" He asked curiously tilting his head towards where he knew she was sitting. While he was trying to keep from getting her hopes up of this actually being useful, he couldn't help but admit it was something interesting. He wanted to see what else they had there if this was it.

Not to mention to efficiently be blind to the world and almost deaf. He was only thankful he was also not dumb.

She gave a sympathetic smile and nodded. "Probably the safest plan, really." She sat down with him, figuring it would be the safest bet, and most comfortable for them both. Remaining quiet while he put on the mask and got settled, she let the memory of Nevetira's words replay in her mind, bringing back the words to her own lips.

"Ok... listen to me as I walk you through the meditation. Relax, and take your time. Promise, no jump scares." Resting a hand on his shoulder, she gave it a quick squeeze before releasing him, resting her hands in her lap once more.

She took a breath, and began. "Listen to the sound of your heartbeat, the sound of your breath. In... and out.... in.... and out. Let those sounds be all that you hear.... and now... let them go. Let them fade away. Let the sounds of the world around you fade away." She'd always had to keep herself from snickering at those words, she'd remembered. Everything except Nevetira's voice, but ah well. Her voice was calm and slow, pausing for extended periods to give him time to process things.

"Focus on why you are here. Not the reasons they provide, but the reason you hold fast to in your heart. Let the scent of the world around you fade away, and focus on why you are here." She again paused, and let him adjust. It wasn't easy, for someone doing it for the first time, but she hoped...

"Do not fear what begins to fade. Do not fear the loss of those around you. Even in death, those bonds carry on. It is but a momentary loss, a loss of the physical. Never the heart or spirit. Let the taste of the incense fill your mouth... and then fade away. Let the taste fade, and focus on the strength of the spirits of those we cherish to carry on."

"I know this is hard, but over time, this will become easier. The knowledge and ease will come quicker to you, and you will find peace. Set aside your body now. It cannot define you. It only cages you. It shall not last, but you shall carry on. Let the feeling of your body fade away as you focus on the source of you, beyond what your body can contain or ever define."

"Though you will continue to face challenges, you must give yourself the chance to overcome them. To fail is not permanent. Acknowledge your fear. It will only cage you. Close your eyes. Let all reliance on your eyes fade away. Focus on your strength, and let yourself face your fear. It cannot harm you."

"Set aside your fear. Release yourself. You are stronger than you know. Let your mind wander, let it drift. Let it flow freely into the world, beyond what your body can reach. Let yourself be free."

Metis herself had begun to relax as she spoke, following the very instructions she said calmly, slowly. She felt at peace. It was with a smile that she spoke at last, "Be whom only you may be. Be whom only you can be. Be whom only you shall be. Do not fear change or what may lay beyond the horizon. Let yourself be free, and open your third eye."

As she spoke the final words, though she failed to notice it at first, the white energy waves from the crystals on the mask began to glow brighter, stronger, as the dormant power that lay within began to unfurl once more. It reached to Victoria, a warm hand offered to the far, deep portion of his mind. There was no malice, there was no ill-will or malcontent. It was the warmth of acceptance, and the warmth of a friend.

He nodded softly too as she agreed that it was probably the safest plan. After all, wasn't that how meditation usually worked best? When sitting down? He wasn't really a yoga type so . . . .

Anyhow he sat and he listened as she started to speak, wanting him to relax and promising no jump scares. He gave a dry laugh, maybe not from her but who knows what was lying in wait considering what he was about to do. No one really knew what sort of memories or whatever this thing would dredge up.

He felt her hand rest on his shoulder and give it a squeeze before retreating away from him. He couldn't see, thanks to the mask and hearing; well he was focused on her as the mask did make it difficult to hear.

She was talking about listening to the sound of his own heart beat and his breath. He closed his eyes and was trying to keep just enough focus on her he could hear what she was telling him to do; while following her directions as well. Letting the sounds of the world fade away wasn't horrible with this mask on, he was taking slow deliberate breaths. Though he felt silly; until he'd managed to relax some.

Focus on why he was here? The corrupt tried not to twitch his head towards her. She knew why . . . right? Though he relaxed a little and sighed, not the reasons, why was he here? He'd been lonely, it wasn't a reason was it - the corrupt struggled a bit with himself as he listened to her. Loneliness had driven him, he was sure of it. She'd said let the scent of the world fade away; that was easy enough the incense wasn't a troubling smell at least. How did you let a scent go though?

He'd wandered though, giving himself a mental shake he'd pulled himself back to maybe not reality but back to the words Metis spoke, trying to calm himself to focus, to center. He'd come here because he'd been lonely; they'd given him a family. He wasn't alone here. He was happy here, despite what they were required to do.

Metis was his last bond though . . . his last tie to the other side, slowly something grabbed his attention. Focus on why you are here. Victoria stopped for a second in all other thoughts; until he'd realized she was speaking again. Talking about not fearing what begins to fade, there were others he cared about, on this side those he'd made friends with. She was talking about death, if they were to die they were still here; he thought about those disconnected images that Elvira had showed him; something that reminded him of an old movie reel. Whoever they were, though he assumed he knew from talking to Metis. They were still here, in soul if they were.

He shook his head slowed his thoughts, tried to taste the incense as he breathed and then, let it go. He had to let it all go right? The worries, the fears; the thoughts were slowly fading back again, though he knew she was there, others too; he could feel them . . . sort of, he tried not to question it and rationalize - maybe the others were not physically there but in spirit they were bound to be; his strength, his reason for carrying on. Right?

It was hard, he'd heard her say it was hard. It was difficult to keep from wondering to just calm down and meditate. Often he had so many thoughts as he wondered the city, sometimes there were more questions than he cared to admit. He was happy though and he kept telling himself that. Though, how many times does it take before it becomes trying to convince yourself? He often thought about her and a few others, he found he cared about.

He was slowly though, slowly allowing those ideas and thoughts be relinquished. Had it been easy, he hadn't needed her to walk him through it, to be his guide. His body? She was speaking of his body now, it was a cage but didn't define him. He might have been one person before, and someone else now; or maybe not someone new. He thought was he someone new. The truth was, as Metis spoke it. His body was only a cage to house the spirit, the mind. He was trying to let go of the feeling of grass, the wind, the temperature of the crisp air.

She was right, his body couldn't define him, neither as negaverse agent or a white moon. He was who he was, no matter where he was. The body was just here, to give him tangibility. It was almost a peaceful thought, that he could; set his body aside and still be himself, no matter where he was or who he was.

Victoria listened as he was finally relaxing enough to start to let go of the tangible and think more of the abstract. She was talking about challenges now though, ones he must face the difficult choices. If he failed, it wasn't permanent, no matter the outcome it would be okay. If she didn't come with him, it would be okay; or . . . if he didn't go to her. He couldn't make up his mind though, if he wanted his eyes closed to allow himself to daydream about the thoughts or just to stare at the dark inside of the mask he was wearing.

Metis was talking also about fear, how if he let it would only cage him, it needed to be acknowledged, but which fear? He stopped himself and let it go, he was stronger than fear, and being afraid was okay too though, everyone got scared sometimes. He sighed a deep breath away as she spoke about finding strength, and facing fears because they couldn't hurt him.

He was stronger than he knew, and she wanted him to believe that, he could feel it. Though the thing he'd been trying to stop was his mind from wandering. He was afraid of it; and it'd taken until now to realize he didn't want to find out any answers. He thought he was happy living in blissful ignorance, but yet . . . it wasn't right, was it? There was a world's worth of information somewhere, somewhere he didn't know.

He should at least . . . find it.

It was perhaps the most peaceful he'd felt since he'd started questioning this, questioning her. Metis was once again talking about be only who he was, who he could be. Not to fear the change that may lay beyond the horizon.

He felt peaceful almost sleepy, like he just wanted to dream and let his mind wander to see what he could find. . . though he seemed startled when he felt other chaotic energies, "Metis . . . I think we have company. . . " He said softly. Almost apologetically though he still felt really calm about the situation.

Ashanite disliked mistrusting his subordinates. He much preferred allowing them to do as they did - especially the ones he considered personal projects.

Victoria was such a project - and he'd been so proud of the outcome. Until recently, that was, when he'd begun to notice changes in Victoria's behavior, which had given him cause to follow the Senshi. And here it was, all very tragic. He'd stayed hidden, powered down, as long as he could, to listen - to see if Victoria was doing the appropriate work to lure someone to the Negaverse - but that wasn't what this sounded like at all.

So he took a breath and powered up, and stepped out of hiding, leaning on his staff and letting out a deeply disappointed sigh.

"Victoria, darling, do you care to explain this?" He asked, voice dry and tone as polite as possible. "Because I would hate for there to be some sort of terrible mistake, here."

It seemed like it was a regular old party going on. Cavansite had been out, minding her own business when she felt two lower level senshi auras, one white moon and one corrupted, as well as the feeling of another general. How…interesting. What sort of dance was going on here…and of course, she was more than happy to tip the tides even more in their favor. If she joined the fight—assuming it was a fight.

She hoped it was a fight.

Regardless, if she joined it, it would be an easy victory. An easy victory indeed.

As she drew closer, she saw that she was right—it was two senshi, a corrupt who she knew reasonably well…and a white moon that she didn’t…and the sight that met her eyes was almost uncomfortable.

The two were sitting down together and Victoria was wearing…a very strange little mask and…

Well. What sort of tomfoolery was this, anyway.

The general drew closer, her heels clicking softly against the ground. “Good evening Victoria~” Her voice wrapped around the name, attempting to extend a deeper level of familiarity to it. They had only met twice, but she enjoyed the corrupt senshi, and the fact that he had joined their side. The right side.

She was not about to let some white moon child dig her claws into him to bring him back.

Not on her life.

She heard what the other General said and decided to add in her own two cents into the pile.

“Now, Victoria, is this any way to treat and enemy? Why are you wearing that thing on your face, you look rather silly. I’m here now, why don’t we just go ahead and bring this girl back, she can join our ranks too, if you two are friendly.”

It was the only concession she would make. Perhaps he was just playing nice with her until he could win her over. Well. That was well and good, but with her there now, they had much more than the manpower required to force her to make the trip to the darkness. Senshi couldn’t teleport.

But they could.

She'd allowed herself to become too relaxed, and, in a sense, too hopeful. The warmth and light of the energy from the mask drifted over the area, and with it, Metis felt at ease. She didn't hear any signs of distress from Victoria, and kept her silence, not feeling a rush to question him on what he'd experienced. Rushing things... never went well.

But it was the Chaos auras that first began to shatter her ease, and so close. Victoria's words only confirmed her fears, and she began to look about, trying to scan the area for other figures. "Are you alright, Vic?" Her voice was soft as his, though she went silent again as one figure at least came forward.

She could recognize the sensation of a stronger aura, of a General, and she bristled at his words. Darling? Mistake? Her head turned in the source's direction, she narrowed her eyes, not attempting to disguise her anger at the intrusion. Or the familiarity his words seemed to suggest he had with her teammate.

As if one wasn't bad enough, a second approached, and slowly, Metis stood, taking in the growing stress of the situation. Again, another General who spoke warmly towards Victoria, and Metis felt her pulse quicken. Bring this girl back. Her hackles rose. "I've no interest in the poison Chaos infects the souls of its victims with. To say yours have drank the koolaid, as the colloquial vernacular would go, feels to be an understatement, in your suppression of memories and promotion of lies."

A bold, foolish thing to say, given her situation, but her voice did not waver, and instead, Metis remained calm throughout the exchange. She took a few steps back, resting a hand on Victoria's shoulder, giving it a small squeeze. "Please... we can go," she whispered to him, as she could see the white energy aura of the mask beginning to fade. The energy it gave off at last dissipated. It broke her heart a bit to think whatever last bit of energy that had remained had been spent, but surely, it would not be in vain?

No more energy could be sensed from the mask atop Victoria's head, and at last, it was nothing more than an ornament of a world, and people, long since past.

Behind her and beneath the folds of her skirts, Metis called her phone, her fingers light over the surface as she listened intently for the highly muffled digital readout voice as she hit the distress signal button. She was no fool.

Though she prayed Victoria would aid her, she knew they were outmatched with two Generals.

Victoria cringed as Ashanite's voice cut through. Vicky stood up slowly offering the mask back to Metis, "I'll let you. . . keep this." He said softly giving her a soft wink as Cavansite also came up.

That however, was when Metis started and he cringed again, "Ashaaa, Cavansite. Fancy to see you both here." He gave a soft forced chuckle. "Look, I know this probably looks bad. But I know I covered this with you Asha. This is Metis, ya'know my former teammate. You . . . you do remember we talked about her?"

He was fishing hoping the General would've at least not forgotten such a conversation had been held. Though perhaps it would be easier to introduce them. "Metis, Ashanite; he's really a lovely guy once you get to know him I promise." He knew she couldn't see him as a normal person so trying to get her to stop without giving cues to the others of what he was up to was going to be difficult at the very least.

"And . . ." he pulled her attention towards the other General, "This is Cavansite. She's . . . fairly lovely as well, though a bit rough around the edges - - it seems." He added.

There was a beat while he seemed to think but he smiled anyways, "Seriously guys I've been trying to get her to willfully corrupt here, you two are kinda . . . killing it here."

He did take a step back and in front of Metis to help protect her some. Despite both of them being Generals he really hoped they wouldn't skewer her if he was in their way. He looked back to the Senshi behind him, "Just let me handle this, I think . . . I can help us both." He said quietly trying to keep the others from hearing him.

Cavansite bobbed her head, giving a cat like grin. “Of course, of course. I completely understand, Victoria. I just felt the energies, and came to see if you needed a hand with anything, but if the little doll here is going to come willingly…”

She drew out the communication crystal that all agents were given and spoke into it, her voice light and bubbly. “Excuse me, My General Queen, Hessonite? It’s General Cavansite, I believe we have a lovely doll here who we could bring to our side…”

Her eyes narrowed slightly as she saw the stance that Victoria took in front of the senshi, a protective one…no. That was not something that she liked seeing…and that coupled with the strange energy that she felt coming off of that…mask…

A small trickle of worry entered the pit of her stomach. “We may also need your help in reminding one of our own why staying with the fold is important. I believe he is being spoon fed some beautiful lies, ma’am.”

The last part was said softly, loud enough for the other general to hear, but not loud enough for Victoria and his would be prize to be alerted to.

“Not to worry now, my pet. You’ll be joining us—your new family soon enough. Aren’t you excited? I met Vicky here when he was on your side, and now look at him, a strapping corrupt with hair that’s just to die for.” The words were a purr, and while she didn’t summon her spear, her arms crossed lazily over her chest, it was a dangerous pose. Like a snake preparing to strike.

Ashanite regarded the other Senshi with mild interest, offhandedly evaluating her potential worth as a conversion. A Super - which meant she had survived long enough to become one. Clever, clearly, and sharp-tongued, and Ashanite would always have a weak spot for someone with a well-constructed argument.

Even if her argument was, at the moment, "you're monsters, go to hell." Well composed, given the pressure she was under.

It wasn't even as if it wasn't true.

"Ah, yes. Metis." Ashanite smiled, broadly. "I do remember you mentioning her. Well! I'm very proud of the work you've done here, Victoria. Your friend will make a fine addition to the Negaverse." Victoria's move to protect the other Senshi didn't go un-noted, though. A flicker of concern passed over his face. That was...unfortunate, but easily remedied. Metis would be corrupted as well. Victoria would remember his proper place.

All would be well.

"It is unfortunate that it has to come to doing things by force, miss Metis; this will all go much better if you surrender yourself to the General-Queen when she arrives." And if it didn't, Victoria's protection wouldn't matter anyway. They would both belong to the Negaverse. That was what the ending would be - it was the only ending possible.

Hessonite had been in her office when she got the call and for a moment, her face lit up at the thought. A willing recruit, hm? It was always better that way. Much less was lost that way, but still. There would be loss.

There was always loss.

She stood up from her desk and was in the process of grabbing the camera that hung from the back of her chair when the last part of the message came through, in such a hushed tone she had to really focus in order to hear it. Spoon fed some lies. Interesting. Perhaps the corruption would not be so willing after all.

Oh well.

She had a job to do, and do it she would.

With the camera in hand, she teleported to the location provided, grinning as the sight fell upon her eyes. “Good work, Generals. And you too, Victoria. Very good job. Just who is this senshi you have there? Come, let me take a good look at you, come on out. I won’t bite.”

Her eyes swept over the corrupt, standing in front of this senshi as though to protect her. Well. This would be remedied.
