How long had she been running since her run in with the men in the village? Three, four days possibly? Karo could have really used Tyiva’s help in that moment. She was certain her mother had had wind of her attending the market place and now sought to find her. Unfortunately, the Alk and she had parted ways a little after the marketplace and had not seen each other since. She actually found herself missing her; she enjoyed the company and had enjoyed their duel of words. They hadn’t properly dueled yet, but Karo was hoping to see her again so it could happen.

At first she’d tried to go back to their spot, but she never stayed too long. She didn’t want the men to catch her and she couldn’t stay in one spot very long. She returned various days, leaving behind small tokens in the hopes that maybe Tyiva would visit and catch on. Still, the day she was leaving behind another token, the men finally caught up to her.

“You are one hard little lady to catch.” One said with a grin.

“I’m going to wipe that grin off of your face,” Karo said, clenching her fists and dropping her pack.

“Oh we were warning about you, that’s why we brought weapons and a magic user.”

The men charged, Karothdra pulled herself into position before exploding as the men reached her. Her first hit landed in the stomach of one as she bent down to avoid his swinging blade. Then her leg kicked out just as another tried to reach her from behind. Still, she was smacked right in the chest with a spell that sent her flying to the ground. The men were on her again and Karothdra fought, getting her arm slashed open in the process.

“You need to come home!” One yelled at her as she fought against all four men trying to restrain her.

“Never!” She howled, kicking, punching, screaming and biting whenever she could.

Tyiva walked through the forests. Ever since reporting to Danika the Alkidike felt a bit at loss. Yes, the marketplace had been grand and she had enjoyed her time with Karo but now life seemed a bit quiet. Too quiet to be honest. Tyiva shook her head, "What? I'm missing the company of an earthling?" Surely it was much better than wandering alone. Such thoughts had made her drift towards the place that she had stayed with the earthling for a couple of days, their very first meeting point.

The first visit she hadn't noticed anything in particular, but the next she realized that something was there. Frowning, the Alkidike crouched forward and moved so that she could pick up a strange object. A token? It's not like I have a nose of a radaku, Karo. Am I supposed to scent you from this? She smirked though. Who else would be leaving such things in their meeting place? But Karo was no where to be found so Tyiva had wandered back towards Jahaur again.

Today though she had found the urge to check just one more time. Perhaps the tokens would be back and if so that meant Karo had left them there once more. If the prints were fresh then the Alkidike could track her. Why she even wished to track down the Oban was beyond the woman, but at the same time she knew. A companion, despite their race, was someone to cherish and she was concerned. Had Karo not acted skittish after leaving the market? Was someone after her friend?

Blood. Her antenna flicked as she came through the trees. Someone was fighting here? Tyiva's teeth clenched in pure rage as she caught sight of the scuffle. There was no mistaking the form of Karo. Nor was there any mistaking the fact that those men were trying to restrain her. "Aisha help me." Whispering the Alkidike flew through the trees, her limbs strong and true from all the recent training she had undergone with her mother for the swords. Letting out a tribal war cry the Alkidike hoped to startle the men as she barreled into them.

Kicking one low in the gut she watched as he flew backwards, "Get up. What sort of warrior lets herself get pinned so easily?" Quipped Tyiva as she pushed another man from Karo, "Get your bearings again!"

"What in the-?"

Tyiva just flashed a grin, "You chose a bad day to target my earthling." Her hands were clenched around her blades and she brought them up defensively - just in time to slash apart an earth spell, "I see they brought some extra kick to the fight. I'll take care of that one, surely the rest won't be so hard for you." She teased quietly as she glanced back towards Karo for a split second before moving forward again.

The more they restrained her, the more Karothdra’s fury grew. She still didn’t know who was looking for her, who exactly these men worked for. Brother or mother? Someone was going to pay once she returned to Oba though; someone was going to feel the fire that was going to explode as soon as they released her. If they thought this was the way to make her stay they were sorely mistaken. Karothdra would just be more included to run off again and never return this time. If she didn’t escape on the road home and beat these men to the brink of their death, someone would pay at home.

And then there was a war cry and everyone froze briefly to look in the direction of the Alkidike who was crashing through the trees blades held high and coming towards them. Yes! Karothdra’s smile grew, they were about to rain down pain on these men. Still, at Tyiva’s words her ego bruised a deep dark purple. But once the men had backed up, Karo made quick work of her restrains and got back up onto her feet. She had not been pinned so easily! She was useless against the magic user.

“No problem at all.” Karo balled one hand into a fist and slammed it into her open palm as she eyed the remaining three men. Then she was moving fast towards, them fist raised as she flew towards the trio. She hit the first man in the jaw, hearing a resounding satisfying crack as he went down to the ground. The next man also came at her but she grabbed onto his shirt and dragged him forward onto her awaiting elbow. The other man managed to kick her in the ribs, Karo winced before turning and also punching that man right in the stomach.

“Tell your boss I’ll come home when I wish it and the next time they send anyone I am sending back headless bodies!” She yelled at them, watching as they moved away from her clutching their broken bodies. She knew Tyiva had taken care of her the magic user, so Karo turned her attention to the cut on her arm which was still dripping blood. She sighed heavily, she hated weapons. She would need stitches because her arm was now completely slick in blood. Her ribs were also hurting which meant she’d have a nasty bruise.

Ah, that was better. Tyiva was relieved to see that Karo had managed to get an upper hand in the fight again. It seemed that the magical aspects had taken the woman by surprise - a thought which made the Alkidike frown. Dirty tricks. If anything that was what infuriated her the most. Who dared to act so cowardly by not only ganging up on one woman, but also by hiding and shooting attacks from far away? It seemed the earthlings still had plenty of scum left in their midst after all.

"I'll fight you, magic user." She snarled as she blocked off another spell from hitting Karo. Tyiva's antenna flicked back against her skull as she braced herself against another wave of energy. I suppose there is one good thing from my absence these past two moons. At least now she had learned more steps of the dance from her mother. It brought her even closer to understanding magic and destroying it with her blades. She was confident in fighting against any magic and definitely could dance to its tune. A realization that the mage had only after their blood was shimmering along the Alk's blades. Still, to leave a message Tyiva allowed the user to scurry away with his injuries before turning back to face Karo.

Was she okay? The Alkidike's antenna flicked forward in concern as she took long strides to get closer again to her friend. The yell had caught the woman's attention and she pursed her lips in a thoughtful frown. "Home troubles?" Tyiva asked as she approached Karo. She wanted to tease the Oban woman but the scent of blood and the sight of it covering Karo's arm made her move quickly, "You can explain later - let's get your injuries tended to."

It had only been a couple of months, but Tyiva seemed much older and her body was even more developed with her height especially becoming more and more like that of her sisters. But her voice also was different, much more motherly, as she reached to hold onto the arm, "Do you have bandages or anything to pull the skin together with?"

Karo nodded solemnly towards Tyiva when she asked if it was home troubles. She hadn’t thought that they would reach her here, but it seemed that someone wanted her back home after such an extended time away. Still, Karo would not be forced into anything. She would return home on her own terms, not someone else’s. There was still anger in her though, the years of restraint her father had taught her were coming undone and Karo had to reign herself in going crazy. Her fists itched to hit something and she eyed the nearby trees menacingly. She clenched and unclenched them until she regained control of her anger.

“I have nothing, I’ve been running for I don’t even know how long. They spotted me in a village and I had to run out with half my supplies. I haven’t eaten since yesterday.” She hated admitting this fault of hers, this weakness especially to an Alkidike. Still it was Tyiva and when her eyes finally landed on her Karo noticed the changes. Her little one was much taller than her now, not that Karo was on the tall end of the spectrum but still. Tyiva was growing into her Alkidike traits and it was fascinating to watch.

“You’ve grown,” Karothdra said with a smile as she gently bumped her shoulder against Tyiva’s arm. Her arm was starting to tingle and so she sat down and flexed a bit. She’d already lost too much blood but at least it looked like the blood had stopped flowing. Karothdra prodded it gently and winced. That was going to leave a small scar behind. That was the downsize of fighting with your fists right? Sometimes weapons got the best of you and this would be a reminder of just that.

“I am so annoyed right now,” Karo said sighing heavily.

"I see." Tyiva's expression shifted thoughtfully as she moved to break out a piece of cloth from her own belongings, "Just hold that firmly on your arm. I know some plants that can help stop that until we find a healer." A small wry, smile crossed her expression. "If Chibale was closer and I could dare to bring you across then I would ask our young mystic to heal you, but we'll have to make due with whoever we can find nearby."

No food? It seemed her earthling friend truly was in a frazzled state. Still, there was no judgement in her gaze as she also pulled out some dried meat and held it out towards Karo's mouth, "Then have something to chew on to distract yourself from the pain." While she spoke her gaze ventured around them. It seemed to be clear for now, but perhaps it would be safest to continue further into the forest.

"Have I?" She found herself teasing despite their situation, "I was thinking that perhaps you had shrunk." The Alkidike grinned before letting out a small sigh, "Not that it matters - I still am a head shorter than most of my sisters." At least earthlings could find her intimidating then. Not that she minded being closer to Karo's height. Despite how amusing it seemed at first it would be odd having to continually crouch down to look at an earthling, "You're annoyed? I would be beyond that." Tyiva rose a brow as she moved forward and glanced around them, "Though I suppose I'm concerned - I leave you alone for a little bit and then I find you in yet another dangerous situation."

Eventually towards the base of one tree she seemingly found what she wanted. Reaching a dagger forward the Alkidike cut at a thick vine and wrinkled her nose only slightly against its odor, "Let's wrap you up for now. I have some paste with me and sturdy leaves from a healing plant. We'll use this vine to tie it together. Is that alright?" Not like she should even ask since Tyiva was already moving to work on Karo's arm.

“I’d love to see Chibale,” she gave a small chuckle. The oban grabbed the extended piece of cloth and covered her wound with it. She was pretty sure Tyiva would have been exiled if she’d allowed Karo to see their mystic especially in Chibale. She would rather not be the reason that Tyiva was kicked out of her home. It seemed important to her and really she was sure she was going to live. This wasn’t a life threatening wound after all so she didn’t think mystical intervention was needed. Not that she’d tell that to Tyiva, shejust let her do whatever she wanted.

Almost snatching the food out of the alkidike’s hand, Karo chomped down on the meat eagerly. She didn’t care what it was but she was hungry and would eat anything at this point.

“Shrunk!” Karo scoffed teasingly. “Still quite tall,” Karo said with a small laugh. She wondered of Alkidikes were bothered by their height. She couldn’t tell if Tyiva didn’t mind being a head shorter than her other sisters. “Maybe you’re still growing?” She said curiously, wondering how old Tyiva was exactly. It wasn’t a subject she’d ever brought up, but Tyiva obviously looked different, seemed different so it had the oban wondering. “How old are you anyways?” She may as well ask if she wanted the answer.

“I wasn’t in danger the first time!” Karo whined softly, pouting a bit. She had not been in any danger! Tyiva ahd just thought that she was but she really hadn’t been! “I know my family far too well to take any more offense then annoyance.” She shrugged. “If the men were this numerous, it must have been important. I’m not ready to go home yet, and no one can force me. Once I am ready I will go back on my own terms.”

“Whatever works,” Karo took the final bite of meat. “I am not picky.” She removed the cloth to look at the wound. “Stitching it up is going to hurt; do you have anything for the pain?” If they’d been closer to a town she would have requested some sort of alcohol to dull the pain. Out here though, she had nothing.

Tyiva smiled slightly, "I'm sure many earthlings would." The Alkidike glanced over at Karo with faint amusement, "Earthlings can glimpse the island and even walk upon it for only one thing, however, and that is to gain Aisha's blessing with an Alkidike for a bloom." Still how excited would the young mystic be to actually be allowed to interact with an earthling? Surely she would be just as baffled as I was. After all even now Tyiva still found earthling ways a bit strange at times.

Strange, but slightly endearing. Tyiva grinned at the reaction to her tease, "Then I suppose you are right - I must be growing still." Her antenna flicked in amusement before stilling at the strange question, "My age?" Tyiva pursed her lips thoughtfully, "I'm not certain of how you earthlings keep track of such things. But I've seen more than twenty rotations of the sun as I can count. Still I am not yet an experienced warrior. Since my inheritance I have been training as a blade who can hunt and fight on my own unlike the young blooms and apprentices. I'm assuming by earthling standards you are no young bloom any longer either." She quipped lightly before working to make certain the wrappings on the arm was pulled tightly.

Tyiva rose a brow at the protest, "So you say, but the waters could have had another idea." She replied slightly jokingly though the worry still was there. Even if she had to go back Tyiva would never hesitate to jump into any waters to bring out her earthling friend. The risk was too great as it would be a shame to lose such a warrior this early, "Your family annoys often?" She replied with a small frown as the words ran through her mind in a confusing puzzle, "As it is then let me assist you. I can help you to hide in the forest or cover more ground away from Jahaur as needed. Until you feel that it is your time to approach these matters that is though I don't recommend running forever." Time to make a plan and sort out what she wanted from her family, yes. Running away to just run? That was not something to sit well with Tyiva. Though she was a bit guilty herself. Only until I can allow my sisters to calm their minds and until I can realize what I need from them. She reminded herself silently before pulling away from Karo and inspecting her work on the arm.

"Well that will suffice for now." Tyiva glanced around them, "Let's head further into the cover of trees. I do not wish to fight anymore earthlings today." Her brow furrowed thoughtfully, "And for the pain relief I will have to see - perhaps I can find something as I tear fibers for your stitches from the healing plants."

“Really? I didn’t know Earthlings could do that. I mean, I’ve seen Alkdike hybrids I just didn’t know how they were… made.” That was curious; Karo didn’t have any friends who had Alkidike hybrid children. She would be curious to have their experience on the matter. She didn’t know why she was curious, but it probably had something to do with the fact that she envied the alkidikes a lot. She ought to just permanently live here, but Karo knew she could not. Family duty called and one day her travels would lead her back to Oba one way or another.

“Are you calling me old? I am sure you are calling me old!” Karothdra chuckled; maybe she was old in Alkidike standards? “I’m twenty uh twenty five sun rotations I suppose you could call it.” It would be better to just tell Tyiva in her own age years system thing how old she was instead of her own. “But we calculate in years.” She added in case Tyiva did want to know the Earthling aging system. “It’s hard to tell the Alkidikes apart sometimes, so your age for me is a tricky thing!” Some did seem to be more ornately adorned than others.

“We should go to Belrea,” Karothdra suddenly said ignoring Tyiva’s worries about her wound. “I’m curious about the other races and it would be interesting to see. No one would be able to find us; my family wouldn’t even know where to find me. It would give your sisters some time too.” It was really all crazy, but she didn’t want to travel alone and Tyiva was the only friend she had right now. Surely, it would work out? She would be able to travel stress free and see new things and come back invigorated from the whole experience.

“I mean only if you want to.” She shrugged. “I’d rather not travel alone.” Karo got up and grabbed her bag off the ground with her good arm. She’d head into the forest, she knew no one might come for a few days at least.

Tyiva nodded slowly, "Alkidikes cannot conceive in any other way so for those who have true affection towards earthlings they may approach Aisha. It is up to our mother, however, if they are to be blessed with children. Not everyone is so lucky, but it does happen." Tyiva glanced over towards Karo with a small smile, "If not for that then you would see no hybrids as no Alkidike can carry a child as an earthling does." She would tease Karo about if she was considering that option one day, but such a teasing was too intimate even for Tyiva. There were certain aspects of life that she revered and blessings from Aisha were one.

However, her seriousness did fade into a grin as the earthling caught onto her other teasing. "Perhaps. Though I was just assuming you may have seen a bit more life than I." Her gaze did gleam with interest to hear Karo's estimate, "Then we are not too far apart in a way." She smiled lightly. Though it would seem that as an Alkidike such a thing would not matter due to their different features. Even as one who had just recently seen twenty suns she still was beginning to stand taller than her earthling friend.

"Belrea?" Tyiva's gaze widened, "You wish to explore that strange, new world?" The Alkidike was rather surprised. She knew Karo had a thirst for adventure, but this was unexpected. Though the longer she thought about it the more the Alkidike found herself slowly nodding, "You are right - it would be wise to find out more about these strangers. I'm sure my young mystic would wish to know as well." She pursed her lips thoughtfully, "How do we go about this travel? Any idea?"

She smiled lightly, "How dare I miss out on an adventure with you, after all? It is rather exciting to think about to be honest." Her antenna were nearly vibrating with energy as she thought over these things.

“I wonder how Aisha perceives earthlings,” Karothdra contemplated the idea. What did she value? Strength? Loyalty? She’d seen Hybrids before, they did not seem exceptional from anyone else. Karo didn’t know why she was thinking about this, or why she cared so much. Granted a baby given to you by your god, or at least their version of a god, seemed much more of a blessing than just a child. Perhaps if Earthlings knew that the ability to conceive came from their gods, a pregnancy would be a much more celebrated thing. Karo didn’t know for sure if a pregnancy came from the gods or just their bodies. It was all very interesting.

“Not that far at all,” Karothdra nodded with a smile. Not that it mattered to her; it seemed the older one got the less age seemed to have an impact on a life. Children and adults were different, but two adults? She didn’t see why others might make a fuss.

“Of course!” The Oban couldn’t do it with the military since she’d taken a bit of a leave. If she wished to do so with the army that meant returning home and that was not happening. Tyiva was a good travel partner. “I’ve no idea how we would travel there,” Karothdra sighed and went into a contemplative mood. She could always contact folk from back home to find out what they knew. There had to be a port city somewhere on Tendaji closes to Belrea. They would need one to travel with ease after all.

“We may need to investigate a bit, but I figure they had to have a port somewhere closes to Belrea. We saw them at the marketplace and that would probably be the best place to start.” Someone there would have a better idea.

“Good, you’ll make a great travel partner and I’ve been alone for long enough.” Karo sighed softly and smiled. She hadn’t been this happy or excited in a long time.

Tyiva smirked, "It's a question that we may never know the answer to." The Alkidikes shrugged, "But I do not believe those who claim that she has no affection at all to your kind - if not then we would have never stopped warring." She was in line with the young mystic who thought kindly of earthlings though such ideas were kept quiet due to the pressures of their people. Perhaps her own attitudes against earthlings had softened from this journey and new companionship as well. Tyiva shook her head slightly at the thought, "Maybe one day you'll get to see." She teased lightly before moving forward and suddenly crouching by some foliage.

Ah.

As Karo continued talking the alkidike nodded, "I believe they mentioned coming back to that area of Sauti ever so often. Surely if we head back that way there will be someone to enlighten us." She tugged at a strange colored plant before ripping its leaves and placing them in a pouch, "Once we get further away from this area we can rest and I'll brew some leaves to make medicine for you." Her antenna flicked in amusement, "We do not have so many magical healers as you earthlings do so I've picked up on how to make some medicines and sleeping droughts so I can stitch that wound completely closed."

She did smile over at Karo before gesturing for them to move forward, "Then I will be your companion so you do not need to worry about being alone any longer. We'll go and explore this strange land together and when we return I can tell my mystic all about its wonders." And if they had any threats or useful knowledge for her Sisters to learn.

“There also wouldn’t be any hybrids I believe,” the Goddess wouldn’t taint her blood with that of the enemy if she did not like them. That was certainly a curious idea; if the Alkidikes had taken it as such from the beginning perhaps much bloodshed could have been avoided. Perhaps, the Alkidikes would be a very different society then they were now. Karothdra liked them the way they were now; she would not change a thing. “Perhaps one day,” Karo said thoughtfully, she didn’t really know any other Alks as intimately as she did Tyvia though, so… The though was interrupted.

“Sauti it is then.” Karothdra wouldn’t be able to sleep properly until they were on that flying thing and getting as far away from here as they possibly could. “It’s a useful skill; you’ll have to teach me.” Sure the Oban knew how to bandage and such, but her skills in first aid didn’t even seem to compare to the wealth of knowledge that ty had in that area. It would be good to learn these things first hand; when and if she returned to the military she would have many things to teach the others. This knowledge would be valuable.

Karothdra stretched a bit and followed after Tyiva. “When I return perhaps I will return home and face my family,” she said in a soft almost whisper like voice. Just the thought terrified her, but she had to return she knew, and sooner better than later. She would not let her brother get away with his crimes. “In the meantime though, we’ll have to teach each other whatever we know. Never know when such things like your first aid would come in handy.” Karothdra cracked her neck. “Sleeping is going to be hard tonight.” She sighed softly.

Tyiva's lips curled into a small smile, "Another good point as I doubt our mother would wish to litter the world with worthless lives. Everyone has their purpose and I do not believe she brings life to cause wars." How could their mother who created such beautiful creatures wish to wash the world in blood? It was a strange thought for Tyiva but a sincere one. Even if she delighted in the hunt she only believed in hunting for necessity, not for dominance over other races.

The Alkidike nodded slowly. Even if she felt hesitant she had to remind herself that gathering knowledge was part of her role as an eye for the young mystic. To see the world that Danika was prevented from exploring was her gift to the mystic who was such a dear sister. However, her thoughts drifted back to Karo teasingly as the Oban mentioned being taught. "I can. If we travel together for long it probably will be one of many things that I teach you."

Her gaze did sober though at the mentioning of home and family. That was something that Tyiva had to face as well, "When it is time things will fall into place. That is how fate works after all, do not fret on it as what we learn on this journey should only help to prepare you more for the trials ahead." The Alkidike's antenna flicked before she grinned, "At least that sounds nice, right? I heard that once long ago from an elder and kept it to heart. As it is I will teach you about anything you wish to know and maybe more." She moved forward and helped the Oban through a rather rough patch of forest, "Sleep will come easily enough once your body tires. I will make certain to get you a good tonic as well so that you can begin healing."

“I believe we all have a purpose,” Karo shifted and checked on the open wound. It wasn’t bleeding anymore thankfully.

“I look forward to it,” The Oban gave the Alk a smile because it was a genuine feeling.

Karo didn’t want to be a burden to Tyiva, so she tried her best not to wholly lean on her as they made their way through the forest. It was slow progress but it was better than just staying back. By the time they did stop, Karothdra’s bruises had turned black and her muscles were painfully locking, she was glad when Tyiva gently put her down.

“I’m sorry for slowing you down.” A good night’s sleep and some food would make her healing faster.
