♮"I want nothing to do with this" Scarlet said firmly to her friends who were about to start playing with a Ouija board. "Oh come on Scar! You're no fun. It's just a game" One of the girls exclaimed. The group proceeded to ask questions to any demons or ghosts in the room while Scarlet watched from the couch. Scarlet has always been a bit scared of the unknown but she would never admit it, she would instead say that ghost and demons weren't real, they were stupid imaginative creatures people would make up. She sighed and closed her eyes. Those things aren't real anyway so what is there to be afraid of?
Her thoughts were immediately cut off when her friends started to shriek followed by giggles. It seems like something started answering their questions as the little triangle they had their hands on began to move "by itself". Scarlet rolled her eyes and whipped out her phone. Stupid ouiji board...stupid unknown...
"Are you a ghost or a demon?" One of the girls blurted out as the others giggled, awaiting for an answer from the board.♮

Walking into an office like room, Zero was quickly greeted by a mid aged man with red hair, it was a face he hadn't seen since in quite sometime. Mephistopheles, or Mephist for short, he ran most things in the Underworld, managed people, places, etc, yet always seemed to be in a fairly good mood and relaxed. "Zero! Good to see ya again!" Mephist chimed throwing an arm over the younger boy's shoulder. Zero couldn't help but to smirk a bit"Good to see you to, Mephist. So, what did you call me for?" Zero responded, walking beside the man as he started walking towards the desk that sat in the room, arm still over his shoulders. Once Mephist had removed his arm, Zero took a seat in the chair across from the desk, Mephist leaning onto his desk a bit."Whoa, what's the rush? Not like we don't have all eternity." Mephist teased, Zero smirking a bit as he gave a light eye roll, typical Mephist, always with the puns and clever comebacks."Anyway, I got a little proposition for you. Now, this position I'm about to offer you is kind of a big deal." Mephist smiled pulling himself up onto his desk to sit. Zero raised an eyebrow at this, Mephist seemed all to pleased with himself right now, like he'd found the perfect person for whatever it was. "I'm listening." he spoke leaning back in the chair a bit. Mephist smirked "You'll be assigned to a human, it is your job to haunt, torment, pester, and just be a general nuisance to this human until they ya know, punch their own ticket." Mephist chuckled with a small shrug. "We've got a quota and -"he was cut off as Zero excitedly stood up hands up in front of him"Wait, wait, wait... so you're saying. I get to kill people" Zero smiled excitement in his voice. Mephist let out a small chuckle "Well, not exactly, you get to help people kill themselves." Mephist explained with a smile. Zero smirked a bit "And if I decline your offer?" he asked curiously. "You won't" Mephist smirked knowing Zero all to well. Zero gave a small shrug "Well, I can't argue with that!" he chuckled."Alright, here's your first target." Mephist spoke, taking a folder off his desk and handing it over to Zero who opened it, reading over the information."You work nine to five, five days a week, weekends off."Mephist added with a chuckle, Zero playfully rolling his eyes again, yep typical Mephist.
Stepping through the portal that Mephist had opened up, Zero found himself in a home, some girls surrounding a table while another one sat off to the side toying with a phone. Zero smirked a bit as the girls asked a question to the board on the table. Going over to the lights, Zero flicked them off before going to the table and making the Ouija board spell demon. The girls didn't seem capable of seeing him, though Zero was pretty sure that Mephist said that the target would be able to, he wasn't sure, the excitement made it hard to concentrate.

Name: Zero Gender: Male Personality: Zero is fairly laid back and usually looking for something fun to do. He can be rather childish at times, often just wanting to mess around. He doesn't really understand why people continue living, and struggles to control his overwhelming desire to kill people from time to time (some mildly homicidal tendencies). Her friends waited for about five minutes. No answer. Scarlet quickly glanced up from her phone and then back down with a snicker and said. "See guys...none of this is real...can we please just eat some 'smores and cut this bullsh--" Scarlet stopped in the middle of her word when she saw a strange shadow fly about and then the lights went out. "EEEEEEEEEK!!" The girls screeched in a panic, but Scarlet just sat there silent, eyes wide, mouth agape and heart pounding. Her friends quickly whipped out their cell phones and turned on their flashlights on, only to see the triangle on the Ouija spelling out something without anyone actually touching it. But Scarlet saw two pale, and very unfamiliar hands grasp the tool to slowly spell out. ...D E M O N... Everyone screamed and started running in all directions, most ran out of the room, the rest jumped into their sleeping bags and started to call their parents to pick them up. But Scarlet sat there like a deer caught in headlights. Horns...wings... Scarlet gulped and the world suddenly felt like it all slowed down. This...thing...spelled out Demon on the board...But no one seemed to notice him, they were just seeing the triangle moving. His eyes looked dead and room felt so cold. This creature radiated a certain kind a dark sinister evil that made Scarlets hair stand on end. Was she the only one able to see this thing? My hand can't stop trembling...am I going to die? What the hell is going on.

As the girls shrieked in fear, Zero smirked to himself, giving one of his ears a small rub. Well, there goes that eardrum.... worth. Zero though to himself with amusement taking a seat on the table. With the girls continuing there panicking, Zero watched with a small chuckle, taking the small board piece and unconsciously moving it here are there on the table as he watched the madness. His eyes stopped on the girl on the couch, she was staring right at him, recalling the information in the folder Mephist had given him to read over, Zero knew that the girl was his target, Scarlet if he recalled correctly. Letting the piece fall to the floor, Zero got up, walking over to the couch where the girl sat, his wings giving a small flap of excitement. It was clear that the girl was scared, that deer in the headlights look was an easy one to spot. Stopping about a foot away from her, Zero smirked, "So you people invite someone to your home and when hey show up, they want to leave? Tsk, tsk, that's not very nice." Zero teased, a smirk revealing sharp teeth.

Scarlet finally exhaled after who knows how long. She blinked a few times and instinctively wrapped her arms around her torso, as if to protect herself from this...Things deadly look. Her friend's panicked murmurs were muffled since all Scarlet could focus on was the uncomfortable distance he just made between her and himself and his terrifying sharp toothed smirk. For some reason the words that he had uttered made her feel incredibly self-concious about the relationship she had with her friends. They wouldn't really leave me...right? And right after these thoughts, her friends came up to her, one by one, sleeping bags in hand. "Scar. We don't know what's going on with this apartment of yours and the fact that you've been staring at nothing for the last ten minutes has all of us freaked out." What? ...It's been that long? But...how? "Yeah Scarlet. I don't no if I'm going to stay the night after all, in fact, my ride is outside right now." How do they not realize the demon standing right next to them?!
"Yea mine too." "Me too..." "Bye Scar" "Later Scarlet" And just like that, they all picked up their stuff and headed towards the door, passing the demon like he was nothing. Scarlet didn't even get the chance to say bye, this was all happening so quickly. When she realized that she was going to be completely alone if they all left, she snapped out of her trance, jumped off her couch and ran towards the door. "W-wait! We didn't e-even get to eat the 'smores you g-guys." But it was too late... She was now facing her closed door. Everything went eerily quiet, and Scarlet did not want to turn around to see the demon. Maybe he attached himself to one of my friends before they left...I mean I'm way too boring...he can't possibly still be here...right? She couldn't help but feel his presence behind her, like some type of darkness has attached itself to her body. Chills ran down her spine as she gulped. Maybe I was just imagining things...I've been watching to many horror movies...yea...that's right...it's all in my head and when I turn around, it's just going to be me and my lonely apartment. She was about to turn around but hesitated. Damnit! Why the hell can't I move?!

The girl snapped her attention off of Zero as the girls came up to her, stating that they were going to head out now and that she'd been staring at 'nothing' for ten minutes. At this Zero couldn't help but to smirk, Time flies when you're scaring the frig out of people. he thought to himself with amusement. As the other girls started filing their way to the door, Scarlet jumped to her feet, attempting to get even just one of them to stay, but with no luck as the door closed behind them, leaving their friend with a demon.
The girl just seemed to stare at the closed door, unwilling to turn around and see if the demon was still there. After a moment of silence, Zero spoke "Great friends you got there."he teased with a small chuckle, his wings tucking themselves against his back. "Anyhow, you know you could just end it all." Zero spoke flopping into a sitting position on the couch, criss crossing his legs."Lots of ways, so you know, feel free to ask questions." he smiled.

Scarlet squeezed her eyes shut and took one deep breath. End it all? Does he mean... She shook her head. I thought he was here to kill me, but instead he's here so I can...kill...myself? Her body felt instantly colder, she exhaled, and gathering up all her courage she turned around and opened her eyes. There he was, sitting where she was mere minutes ago. His nefarious smile sent chills down her spine. His words were filled with malice intent. She bit the inside of her cheek, and took one cautious step forward, her eyes were trying to focus on anything else but him now, so she wouldn't get any more nervous than she already was at this moment. Sure...my life isn't that great, and sure...my friends aren't that good...I'm constantly struggling to make ends meet...I don't really have anyone to talk to anymore since the death of my sister...My parents left years ago to go visit the world...and I'm here...all alone... Everything was falling together now, and it makes a lot of sense...unfortunately... She glanced at him once more, her previously shiny green eyes were clouded over...and spoke. "You're here to torment me until I take my own life...aren't you?" Her voice was a bit shaky but stern nonetheless giving almost a hint of acceptance. Her features laced with a bitter sadness that no one has ever seen.

Zero watched as the girl forced herself to turn around and face him and moved a bit closer. As she asked her question Zero smirked "Ding ding ding! We have a winner!" he teased. Her eyes seemed to glaze over, as if she had fallen into a deep trance or something, though Zero decided to ignore it. Stretching his arms up over his head for a moment before letting his connected hands rest on the back of his head. "So, you got any way in mind? I think most people like the whole toaster in a bath tub thing." he spoke with a small shrug. "You do have a toaster here...right?" he questioned. Before she could answer, Zero continued"Well, we could always go get one."he added using one hand to make a small shooing motion while his other came back to rest on his leg. He'd hadn't even been here for like fifteen minutes and he was already having fun, no wonder Mephist was so excited to give him this job. Thanks Mephist.Zero thought to himself.

♮ Scarlet blinked a few times and wondered for a second that this...demon is radiating so much darkness, despair, and malice, but yet he is acting like this is some kind of game and she's the pawn he wants to get rid of to win said game. She deduced this theory, and it made a lot of sense. He looks so ecstatic for my supposed eventual demise. And yet with all this evil in the room...for some reason he is making her feel comfortable just with his happiness and energy...unfortunately it's all laced with ill-intent. Maybe this is what demons do. Though...he reminds her of herself before her sister died...full of energy, always joking, and happy but for different reasons obviously. Her brows furrowed slighting in confusion. What am I thinking?!...he's a freakin' demon that wants me to die painfully! She began to gain some composure and glared at him through her bangs, her little hands becoming fists once more. I don't want this demon to get his way...let's see who could get the last laugh... She joked darkly to herself and spoke once more. "Well...actually...I'm not in the mood for kicking the bucket just yet" She said out loud with a little more defiance in her tone than she expected. Scarlet was actually taken aback by her rebellious words against a demon who could easily probably just kill her with his pinky finger.

Zero just watched as the girl seemed to try and take in what he'd just said. It wasn't hard to understand was it? After she finished thinking, or whatever it was she was doing, Scarlet spoke her hands turning into fists at her side, conviction in her voice. Zero wasn't sure what he was expecting the human to say, and smirked some as she stated she wasn't ready to call it in just yet. "Don't really get why you're delaying it. But hey, might as well let the games continue, right?" he chuckled softly.
Zero could easily have just offed her by now, demonic powers and all that, but one where was the fun in that? And two, Mephist had been clear that he wasn't suppose to just straight up kill her. Oh, yeah, this was going to be fun. Best. Job. EVER...well aside from straight out killing people. he thought to himself. "So, since we're playmates now, Scarlet, I suppose I should introduce myself. My name is Zero. I'm here to help you kill yourself." he smiled.

Now that Scarlet was beginning to pass the initial stage of being terrified, she was now starting to see just how overly confident this demon was with himself. He really believes he could get me to off myself so easily? I wonder if he knows anything about me. It took all she had to repress her eyes from rolling when he introduced himself. He genuinely sounds like he's doing me a favor. "Zero huh." She let his name roll off of her tongue smoothly, and then gave a small defiant smirk. "I don't know about playmates...since I want nothing to do with something that wants me dead...what do you get out of this anyway? Fame? Fortune? Does that even exist from the hole you crawled out of?" She was getting more and more defensive, as she started to back up again, the front door now against her back and her arms crossed indignantly across her chest. When I was crying the other night begging for someone or something to keep me company on lonely nights like these, I really did not have this in mind...dammit...he's really not going to leave me alone is he?

Zero made a teasing pouting face as Scarlet stated she didn't want to be playmates "Awwww, come on. You make it sound like it's a bad thing." he responded before readjusting his spot on the couch, watching as Scarlet backed up to the door once more. Why were people always so scared of death? It never made sense to Zero, it's gonna happen at some point, right? Besides didn't most people complain about life most of the time anyway?
As Scarlet asked about what he was getting out of it, Zero leaned back a bit, making a small shooing motion with a hand "Nah, nothing like that. And just so you know, it's more of a crater than a hole." Zero smirked. "I could take you sometime."he chuckled. Getting back onto his feet, Zero let his wings flap a few times before they folded back against his back."So, what do you want to do first? Cause I don't think your 'friends' are coming back."

Scarlet watched Zero as he leaned back on her couch and continue his antics. She squinted at him when he offered her to take her on a trip to hell itself and shivered at the thought. Like hell I would go to hell with you. She joked inwardly as she shook her head and placed two fingers on her temple, already exasperated. "I can't believe I'm having a conversation with a demon." She said to herself and sighed. Scarlet glanced at the doorknob and was considering whether or not to run out of the apartment in hopes she would lose him but then decided against it. He would find me...he IS a demon afterall...and it's late anyway...I should've been sleeping by now. Scarlet groaned inwardly feeling suddenly very tired and looked at Zero once again. "Well...I don't suppose you'll leave me alone for a couple hours while I sleep huh?" She asked rhetorically and started to carefully make her way to her room, hoping he wouldn't follow. I can't do anything about this now...I'm exhausted...and who knows maybe this is actually one big nightmare and all I have to do is go to bed and wake up in the real world. She inwardly hoped as she went into her room and turned on the lights. There was no door to her room though, the apartment was pretty cheap after all.

Zero couldn't help but to let out a small chuckle as Scarlet stated that she couldn't believe she was having a conversation with a demon. She seemed to consider running out the door for a moment but gave up the thought a moment later as she groaned saying she was going to go to bed. "A nightmare, huh? You actually think that?" Zero questioned raising an eyebrow a bit, smirk on his face. He watched her for a moment as she started walking off towards an empty doorway that apparently led into her bedroom. Stopping in the doorway, Zero leaned onto the side of the doorway, loosely crossing his arms as his eyes remained on Scarlet."If this is considered a nightmare. Your nightmares are pretty lame." Zero teased with a small chuckle. Noticing that Scarlet wasn't really joking about going to sleep, Zero playfully rolled his eyes,"Come on, it's still early, right?" he smirked, not actually knowing the time. Time was a concept no one really cared about back home, they simply didn't track it."I'll even let you pick the game." he smiled, sharp teeth protruding slightly. "We could play with knives, outlets, acid, we could go to the roof. I could teach you some cool knots." Zero listed counting each activity on his fingers.

Scarlet spun around and sat on her bed, facing Zero now, she ran a hand through her brown hair and squeezed her eyes shut. She opened them again and saw that Zero was still there. She sighed and started to accept the fact that this demon is real, this demon will be attached to her for a while, but this Demon seems like he won't hurt her because apparently it is not in his job description. She watched as Zero just leaned on the door less door frame, his arms crossed against his chest as he continued to talk. Scarlet saw that he rolled his and started to offer up some games. When Zero smiled, his sharp teeth were dangerously visible, this gave her an unwanted shiver down her spine. Can demons eat humans? She thought quickly and then shook off the disturbing thought. When Scarlet heard his suggestions on things to play with, she couldn't help but chuckle darkly. "You are so persistent." She said quietly while looking down at her lap, she was grinning without even noticing. This made her look a bit creepy since the lighting wasn't all that good in the room, you couldn't see her eyes because her bangs were covering them, and her dark grin was the only thing that was visible. His dark humor was actually making her laugh, which is stupid because this dark humor was specifically directed towards her and her death. She chuckled once more. I'm going insane aren't I? Is he making me this way or am I just that messed up in the head? Scarlet laid back onto her bed and placed her hands on her eyes, grin still on her face.
