And so, the usdias set off on a magical adventure to fill their hearts and minds with the world. The day before they collected supplies and began their journey. They were a happy two, slowly falling in love with each other with every step.
Astraea and Ellessar were prepared for anything but it seemed their adventures would be quiet, until they hit mid-way through the quiet plains...
--- Ellessar rose from the nest they had built last night, using dried grass against a large rock. It was very comfortable, but the sun was rising and he felt an itch to get moving again.
"Astraea?" Gently, Ellessar nudged the beautiful purple mare with his nose, poking her shoulder. They had gotten pretty far in his estimates. The two decided to go west, towards the ocean before heading north for the desert. Ellessar was glad, he loved the smell of the salty air whipping over the plains.
He decided to let her rest for a moment as he gazed over the area. Just flat land. If anything was going to come interrupt them, he would be able to see it at least. But the flat land was boring, and only the clouds would bring them anything interesting to look at.
Ellessar shook himself out, creating a cloud of dust and grass debris around him. As he stepped forward he fell, hoof deep in a hole. He grumbled as he pulled his foot free, wondering what kind of critter would make such a large entry hole. Fox perhaps, but more than likely it was just a decaying root.
Whatever it was, they would have to be careful where they trekked. Ellessar returned to Astraea, glad to see she was waking from her slumber. The sun was warming the air pleasantly, but he feared later in the day it might get too hot for them to continue to travel.
A barking, growling whinny erupted from the plains; a scream of pain and the sound of thrashing followed. The sounds were coming from the west, the direction they were heading in, but there was no woods to hide such a beast that would make the dreadful sounds. Instinctively, Ellessar stood before Astraea, looking around.
"What ever that is, I hope we don't find it.."

 Like a rising sun she smiled with happiness as her eyes glimmered in the awakening night.
A dream perhaps as she stretched in her temporary nest feeling the warmth of her companion as she slumbered sweetly with no fear. Yawning the sun glittered in her deep blue orbs noting Ellessar had finally awaken. She remembered so many things and yet others were a blur. Bringing herself to her tiny hooves she smiled looking about. They had made their little traveling nest near a huge rock which was quite comfy. Mentally telling herself though as they neared storms or predators an ideal hovel or tree covered patch would suit fine as well. Usually she'd sleep in but these past few moments of her life she sought to wake once the sun did.
"Ellesar...." she mumbled with a soft yawn as she focused more on her surroundings.
Her breath though shifted from her throat as a squeak emerged in response to the guttural growl resulting in a whinny echoed from the destination they would travel. "What... What was that?" she asked unsure as Ellesar stood protectively in front of her. Something sounded rather intimidating to two miniature ponies seeking adventure within their lives.
"I hope not either. That didn't sound like it was something I want to meet personally" her voice quivered as she moved in closer toward him. "You know I think we should enjoy some breakfast before we head out". Walking over toward pack lying upon the ground near their nest she pulled out some sweet pastries Tirranna placed in it for her. "They're really good and full of energy. Try one" she nudged him before placing it on the ground. Little distractions with delicious qualities could change the mind of anyone when fear reigned over composure.

"I'm thinking it's a bear or something. I'm not fond of bears, although I hear there are some nice ones. Although I'm apt to think it's just some sort of mocking bird, they enjoy copying strange noises." Ellessar let down his guard for a moment, turning to Astraea. The growling died down, now only an odd bark here or there.
"Breakfast sounds like a marvelous plan!" Second breakfast would be grand too, but he'd settle for one. Well, maybe one and a half.
He watched as she dug into the nest, and deeper into her bag. His nose was twitching, the smell of something sweet soothed his stomach. Astraea placed a beautiful golden pasty before him, covered with crushed nuts and glittering with sugary honey.
There were very few things that could soothe his mind after the sound of the creature, and this was surely one of them. Delicious baked goods!
Ellessar grinned and rubbed her with his muzzle, "Your human sure was kind to pack you these lovely little tarts, or whatever they are. Simply beautiful, I must say!" Ellessar tried his best to be polite, but this little gold nugget in his mouth was too good not to chew and moan.
"I can feel the energy now! Nuts, so much protein!" Taking his time chewing, he looked off to the west. While he was still apprehensive, he didn't want to extend their journey too long in the plains, so they would head due west with no diverting path. After a big swallow, he picked up Astraea's pack and placed in on her back, trying not to be tempted to pull another pastry out. "Lest I be tempted to have another!" Ellessar let out a hearty laugh and muzzled Astraea's back as he fitted the pack to her.

While the sound of the threat seemed quite unpleasant the little plucky mare known as Astraea followed in suit what she does best. Taking a nut pastry she let it savor in her mouth feeling her saliva awaken with such richness. Delicious indeed she mused glancing over at her companion who was thoroughly enjoying his breakfast as was she. A homemade treat could cure anything formidable or unknown this she placed her very agreement on.
She giggled at him, "Not my human but well the herd's or is she Celendria's human? " the thought perplexed her momentarily then she shook it off like a little rainfall. "But, yes she makes amazing treats! I'm just so excited she knew I was leaving with you. I think she has that sixth sense or something". When she finished her snack she stretched, "Alright we should get moving I think. It's still spring but the sun has been making things really warm lately".
She then paused, "I know a couple of bears that are really nice its the cranky ones you really have to avoid".
Standing quietly her legs twitched as she waited for him to place her pack upon her back. He was so caring and kind especially with her spending a lifetime exploring and seeing new sights with her. She being sure of herself knew there were things even Ellessar hadn't come across just yet in his lifetime. Good things vs the bad she hoped. Once they were ready she bent down picking a stick up in her muzzle then threw it to the side so either didn't trip and get injured.
"Shall we be off then?" she playfully called out to him as her back legs buckled outward in excitement. A new day surely meant new surprises and perhaps old faces if any of her former herd was out adventuring as well. It would be nice to let Ellessar meet those she had grown with even if they towered over her most of the time. That was the nice thing being in the company of another usdia leaving her to feel not hindered that things around them were so much more gigantic than the pair.
