Winter created several issues for Acubens. First, her fuku was not conducive to venturing far from her apartment. And while she knew that this was dangerous, she also didn't want to be cold for any longer than was absolutely necessary. Also there was the issue of effort. Is was darker longer and Acubens found herseld pretty drained on a regular basis, so putting forth more effort was not really an option. Those were the reasons she was loitering next to a nightclub near her apartment, waiting for some drunk idiot to stumble out and fall for her poorly thought out trap where she hid in the shadows and screamed until someone came to help her. Speak of the devil, there was her drunk idiot now. A woman stumbled out of the club, laughing at a joke that Acubens was not privy to. She was so perfect for Acubens half-assed plan, in fact, that she only had one shoe on. Where was the other one? Acubens had no idea. It wasn't in her hand, and there was no way it was in her tiny clutch. Nope, this lady was not going to know what hit her. So Acubens screamed. The woman's head nearly ripped clean off as she tried to focus bleary eyes to find the source of the sound. Acubens tried to make it easier by also kicking whatever was around her, but in the end, she ahd to relocate somewhere closer and easier to find. "Hunny," the woman slurred, kneeling carefully beside Acubens, "hunny, I need you to be calm, okay? I'm a nurse, tell me what happened." But Acubens kept screaming. In the flurry of activity, the drunk nurse didn't notice the wraith glide up behind her and begin doing its job. Slowly, the nurse began to lose consciousness despite her efforts to fight it. Finally, she slumped over on Acubens who had finally stropped screaming. "Thank buddy," she sighed. The mirror wraith only watched her passively before dissipating, it's job finished. Acubens arranged the woman close to the entrance of the alley where she would be easily found and wrapped her up in a blanket. No need to kill anyone, after all. Infinities I spelled your name wrong at first orz

Scylla was getting used to patrolling in her bright red coat and those octopus leggings. They covered enough to keep her warm, with the exception of her feet. It was a careful balance in winter, keeping warm without covering herself up so much that she powered down. She envied those senshi with their winter coats and warm-looking fuku, but come summer.... Come summer she wouldn't be upset at all. It was the sound of screaming which got her attention, the Kraken senshi's dark head jerking up, trying to identify where the sound was coming from. What? Screaming like that was not a good sign this late at night. A quick check put her at one of the only Order signatures she could feel- but she could feel Chaos. What were the chances- no, if Chaos was the source of the screaming it would have cut off by now, starseed ripped. Unless... she could hardly ignore it. So she took off as fast as she could go in the direction of the aura, hoping she wouldn't be too late to save a life. The scene she came upon was an unconscious woman and a dark moon senshi, and Scylla froze, watching the senshi wrap a blanket around her. Not something she thought might be done for someone whose starseed had been ripped. People didn't last very long without medical help, and even with, it would just be a cruelty to the family to let them last so long. "Don't see many chaos agents wrapping up their victims in blankets," she drawled sweetly, keeping her stance loose and as non-aggressive as she could manage. "Then again, I haven't met as many of the Dark Mirror Court in a while." Close to the alley entrance, so she would be found before she froze, and a nice generic blanket. Someone who took the money and time to worry about the very people they preyed upon. Interesting.

Acubens felt the order coming a mile away bit she didn't look up. When the source spoke, she only flicked her eyes up from the bright clutch in her hands. She shrugged, sifting through make up and cards until she found a bundle of singles. She left bills larger than ten, but folded the rest and slipped it into her fuku. About 50 bucks. Not bad for her first harvest. "She didn't do anything wrong. Just too caring for her own good. Why should she be punished for that?" She nestled the clutch back into the woman's arm and stood, finally turning to face the senshi. "Maybe if you knew more of us, you'd find out what we're not all so bad. Just trying to make a space for ourselves." She held out her hand with a smile. "I'm Acubens. Dark Mirror Eternal of Velociraptors. If you'd like to hang around, maybe I could tell you a little bit more about us." It was only after she made the offer that Acubens realized that if she took the time to educate, then she'd be missing valuable targets and rent money. There was a brief war in her mind before she finally decided that it was worth it. Who knew -- maybe this would be another addition to their ranks. Or at the very least and understanding mind. The Dark Mirror Court was growing, but still small, and needed all of the allies it could get.

"You don't rob them," Scylla protested, taking a step forward. "You already took her energy, you don't need to steal her money too. Come on." this was ridiculous. Not even proper highway robbery, just a vulgar little abuse of power. Why had she thought that maybe there were some people in there- ugh. At least the woman was alive, even if she was now poorer. That was some small victory. "You answer me, you're the one stealing from her purse. Isn't that a punishment?" Too caring for her own good- members of Chaos were so confusing. Their logic made so little sense to her, and her brow furrowed. Still, she didn't make an action to attack, even though she came closer and flailed her hands at the DMC. Shoo, shoo. "Leave her alone." Maybe if you knew more of us, you'd find out what we're not all so bad. Scylla actually laughed at that, tucking a black curl back behind her ear as she bent to double-check the woman's pulse, run a tanned hand over the lady's cheek. "Sorry, Acubens, I'm laughing because I have spent so long avoiding the Dark Mirror specifically because of who in that Court I know." she shook her head, rising, and took the other Eternal's hand. "I'm Scylla, Senshi of the Kraken, and I was there the night your court was born."She may not know where the Dark Mirror was going, but she knew firsthand where it had come from. "Your Court has done me a few favors, but not so bad? A pity-blanket doesn't make up for robbery." yet still, she wasn't attacking, or being aggressive. Her hand didn't grasp Acubens with any tightness, and she released it easily. Just a casual handshake, as though she wasn't upset at all. She gestured. "Go ahead, though. Tell me what you know. I'm always interested in a good story."

Oh good. A lesson in morality. Acubens tried not to roll her eyes at the lecture but listened all the same. "Fine, then pretend I met her in the bar and she bought me some drinks." Acubens cocked her hip out to the side and twirled her hair. "Oh my god, this beat is killin, Jackie! Let's do some shots off the bar tender! Girl's night! I left her credit cards, her debit card, I didn't touch her social -- but I might leave her a note, it is super dangerous to carry that around with you -- The point is the blanket and my fee are two separate things. One does not justify nor discount the other -- " She was cut off. The night her court was born? Acubens' eyes grew wide with wonder. She had learned so much about her court since she had come home. She had learned about what they wanted, what they were fighting for, how they fit into the complicated net of power in the city -- but there was one thing that eluded her. Their beginnings. It was the last piece of the puzzle that would complete her understanding of what she was meant to be. It was the last locked door. It was the only thing standing between her and complete understanding. Acubens dove for the clutch and shoved the cash back in. "Who even needs rent money anyway -- Look! Look see it's back!" She showed Scylla the clutch as though it would reinforce her point. "I did the thing, now tell me! Tell me everything about what happened!" Her voice was rising as she spoke, excitement registering clearly in her voice. "Did you know Leto -- Did you know Queen Ares?! Oh my god!" She spun on her heel, practically dancing from glee. "Please, please... I need to know everything."

Scylla didn't put her head in her hands. It was a near thing. "I wanna do some shots off the bartender," she mused aloud, staring at the sky. The thirst got progressively harder to resist every time she could see people being so casual about it. She'd been free. Uncaring. "Your fee for-" she paused, as the other senshi's face seemed to shift from disdain? Perhaps? To something else entirely. Money was shoved back into the purse, the clutch being shoved in her direction, and the other woman shoving upward, spinning with excitement, and almost laughing with glee. What? Apparently she had done something right, or- oh. Oh. She had apparently said something that was magical to the Dark Mirror Court member, and her head tilted. "You don't know the story?" she countered, instead of answering. Leto. Ares. Tw names that hurt her heart; one, a life she had saved, the other, a best friend she had failed to help. "Tell me what you know, so I know where to start." the clutch had been tucked back into the woman's hand, and though it went against the grain of her to just... leave her there- ah! There came someone now, and she pushed into the alley quickly, out of sight before they could see her standing near the victim. "But not here. Up we go, Acubens."

Know -- what did she know? What did she know? Suddenly Acubens knew nothing and she turned once in one more useless circle before fleeing the prying eyes of a stranger. She followed Scylla up to the roof gladly, landing lightly beside her. By the time her mind caught up with her, Acubens was practically brimming with excitement. She knew... she knew a little. Precious little. And despite her excitement, she needed to be careful about what she divulged. ideologies only. No secrets. No gambits. Nothing that could compromise them. She took a deep breath and commanded herself to be calm. "What I know," she began, her voice barely containing her excitement, "is that we are not of this reality. We come from someplace... else. No one can tell me where. But we're here now. And all we want is a home. That's what we are trying to find. A home." And that was all. When she put it into words all of her work, all of her research didn't look like much. Her face fell a little at the realization. "All we want is somewhere to belong. We don't belong to the chaos, many of us don't associate with agents or corrupt senshi. We're a family. We're small. But we... I guess we belong to each other..." A warm sort of glow washed over Acubens as she spoke, turning her lips back into a smile. "This court welcomed me when my own did not. They answered my questions when many of my own allies at the time condemned me for asking questions. Here I can... I can think. I can breathe and choose. I was damned for talking to Dark Mirrors but I am encouraged to talk to White Moon Senshi now. Our court encourages and embraces that kind of... of critical thinking." Yes... that was it. Home and choice. That was what her court stood for. "Home and choice."

Not of this reality. Someplace else. A home. We don't belong to chaos. Home. Choice. As Acubens spoke, Scylla paled, nausea rebelling in her throat. Half-truths and outright deceptions. What this court had come from was nothing like Home, or Family. Choice. In the name of Chaos. It had been the first thing Ares had said when she revealed herself as the Princess to replace Nehelenia. When she had corrupted Gaia, and Leto, and Requiem. And they tried to make it better, now? Somehow? What the ******** had Leto been feeding these poor senshi? Or had they tried to rewrite their own bloody history and make themselves... No. There was visible revulsion on her face as she said, "That isn't how your court started, let me assure you of that. Your court came from blood and betrayal."

Acubens wasn't really sure what she had been expecting as a result of her schpeel. In reality, this was the first time she'd given it. She hadn't really planned it out all that much... hadn't really known what she was going to say until she said it. She knew her end game was to get people to just... leave her family alone. Maybe even sympathize with them but... she sure as hell hadn't been expecting... resentment... Maybe it was stupid of her not to expect it, but all the same, it shocked her into slack-jawed silence. Blood and betrayal? What did that even... what could possibly have that... wait. No. No. If that was what the Dark Mirror Court was about then she would have known. She would have sensed their manipulation, but there wasn't any. Leto loved her. Lesath loved her. And she loved them right back with the same white-hot ferocity with which they loved her. There was no faking that kind of raw adoration. That wasn't a lie. As quickly as anxiety had slammed into Acubens, it rolled over her, leaving warm surety to wash over her. How could any outsider possibly understand? How could anyone who hadn't felt the unbridled acceptance of her court be expected to understand what she felt? What she knew deep down in her bones? Her face lit into an easy smile and she actually laughed. "Okay, okay. How about you tell me how it is then, hmm? Tell me about that night? All of the blood and betrayal?"

For a moment, Scylla wondered if the other senshi would actually listen to her; for a moment, she seemed so startled, Scylla wondered if her ears would open wide. And then she laughed, and Scylla shook her head, actual pity and disgust on her face. She couldn't even stop it, and didn't even bother to hide it. Gods. Whatever it was, it was making her physically ill. It was insanity, is what it was. The girl didn't have a clue where they came from. We don't belong to the Chaos.
In the name of Chaos.
We're a family.
I have been reborn -- and now we all can be too.
A home.
I have been living a lie since I set foot in this place, ever since I was ripped from the Black Kingdom.
Join me, or die.If she had known then what she was learning right now, what might she have done to stop the Dark Mirro? Would she have told Ares she loved her, tried harder to be a better friend? Would she have let Leto die that night, and not live to the corruption; taken the beating that would have come from her Court, and put an early end to whatever this was? Or at least some small end; Ares would have taken someone else, but- If you ignored the past you didn't learn from it. This appearance of the wiping away of a past that began with insanity, and betrayal, and-- She sucked in a breath, and her tongue was practically dripping with acid and bile and suppressed fury. Was that how they tried to collect their numbers? But then, how many of the oldest were still there? Who was really to blame for this? Not Acubens- but Acubens was the one who got to handle it. Her mind was whirling, and her thoughts made little sense in her anger. A mile a minute, a whirlwind of old betrayal and pain. "Who leads you, now?" she asked, but it was as much a demand as a question. There was no sign of the woman who had so sweetly drawled and tried to chide the Dark Mirror Senshi just a few minutes before. This- this level of ignorance was vile, and it was being done deliberately? Her eyes were cold, hard, and the nausea that poured through her veins stiffened her core. She didn't even know where to start, but stuffing her fist through a face was progressively sounding better. Where the violence of her rage was coming from, she'd worry about later.

Acubens tried to to recoil from the acid in Scylla's voice. In her expression. But she supposed... she had to get used to it. After all, it was normal to react like this to her court. They certainly didn't look like they meant no harm, in their black fukus and ghostly shawls. No. This was normal. It was Acubens' job to guide people through the initial rage to see reason. To see love. So she stood back and made her expression as neutral as possible as she let Scylla filter through her emotions. "We follow Princess Leto and Prince Remarque," she answered patiently. "Ares has not been seen since she brought the first brood home, but Leto and Remarque are doing a very good job of filling her shoes." Acubens risked a small step forward as she spoke. "They make them selves as visible as possible... I even lived with Prince Remarque for a time when I first came home." This was the way. Share little stories of what they did for one another. Little peeks into their lives. "He taught me about the Dark Mirror Court, Leto does the same. They seek out as many of us as they can and they mentor us." She would make her see. Acubens had to. "Where is this anger coming from?" Maybe she was overstepping her bounds, but if Acubens wanted Scylla to understand her, then she had to understand Scylla. "What happened that night that was so bad?"

Ares has not been seen since she brought the first brood home, but Leto wasn't fessing to up what was done either. Scylla's snort was loud. Remarque, at least, whoever that one was- he might have an excuse. She expected better of Leto. "I'm going to give you the cliffs notes version, Acubens. A little night-night story to explain why someone who claims they aren't chaos still feels the need to steal energy and money from people." Not Chaos her a**. She shifted her weight, tasting the cold air and feeling it fill her lungs as she reached back to memories. "Once upon a time, there were what we'll call the parallels. Alexandros. Nehelenia. Laocoon. Aphrodite. Ares. Gaia. Hector. Zirconia. There were more, but this is the only cast that matters. Nehelenia was the Queen, and Alexandros the Prince, much like the old White Moon had their Sailor Moon and Endymion. Parallel to them, you might say. They were like the White Moon, somewhat. Order. Clean. Then Helen and Alex died. Hector died. Aphrodite fell into a coma. The rest were..... lost. Angry. But not without friends." Friends that hadn't mattered much, in the end. "Laocoon, Ares, Gaia, and Zirconia joined together and recruited white moon senshi to join them in their cause. They created a court of those who were willing to fight against the Negaverse. Fight and kill those who were infused with Chaos. They called it the Blood Moon Court. Not White Moon, not Parallel, but those who-" We all have a star in our heart."It went downhill. Bloodshed in the name of necessity turned to bloodshed for glory. And always we were held to certain rules. The Inner Sanctum more than any. Ares broke those rules, and when the time came that she be held to account, she refused, deeming herself above them." Fallon. Jada had gotten a front-row ticket to watching the Captain of the Blood Moon change, watch her loving, proper friend become lost to whatever Ares had been. Fallon had been gone long, long before that punishment had come to pass. She lifted her chin, and said clearly, "When she came back to us, she wasn't the same. Do you know what the first words she said were, before she- as you said- brought the first brood home? Including Gaia, but abandoning Laocoon. Abandoning Zirconia. Leaving Aphrodite behind. Abandoning her family?" Scylla did, and she said it now, voice a soft, angry hiss. "In the name of Chaos."A step back, then another. "Whoever told you your court was about home, and family, was deliberately lying to you, or ignorant. Your Court is about revenge. From the night the Queen of the Parallels died, to the night Ares threw her allies through the mirror and created the first of- whatever you are. It was all about revenge. And nothing your leaders can lie to you about will clean the stain of betrayal and Chaos from the fact that your Court even exists at all. Only you can do that- and not by doing that." Acubens should know exactly what Scylla meant, as the Senshi of the Kraken pointed in the direction from which they had come. Robbery. Draining Energy. Serving the Chaos that lived inside them.

As Scylla spoke, it was harder and harder for Acubens to keep her expression neutral. Deep, unsettling rage flickered to life inside of her. So she was basing all of her understanding on a single event? Acubens had to admit... it was... disheartening, to say the least, to find out that the birth of her course was not the glorious coming into the world that she had hoped. But then... what birth ever is truly clean? There is alway mess when a life blinks into the world for the very first time. There is always mess and blood and terrible screams. And sometimes, a death must pay for that life, and the child takes all that the mother has so that they can draw breath. And the mother gladly gives all that she can. The birth of her court, it would seem, had been one bathed in more blood than most. But what can truly be expected when her queen was a product not only of war, but of a small group of mercenaries. Na einai kalitero anthropo apo ton patera touA line from a show from a life she had worked hard to forget. The words bloomed to life in Acubens' mind as another piece of the puzzle fell deliciously into place. Her expression faded back into blessed peace as the mantra repeated itself over and over until it reached her lips. "Na einai kalitero anthropo apo ton patera tou," she muttered, stepped forward to match Scylla's advance, "be a better man than your father... I understand." She reached out with trembling hands towards the furious and lost senshi. Sadness reached her face and pulled the edges of her lips into a trembling smile. "I understand your rage. I do. And..." She ventured closer still, her heart steadily filling with purpose. "But we must always strive to be better than those who have come before us." Finally, she reached Scylla and took her hands softly in hers. "From that dark and blood-soaked birth which claimed the life of our mother, we will rise," her voice wavered, not for lack of conviction, but for the force with which that conviction struck her. She believed it in every atom of her being. And as she places the pieces together, a grand and glorious picture formed before her. Scylla had been right. Gods alive she had been so right. She dropped to her knees before the senshi and pressed her hands together before her. "We were born in blood and darkness and treachery, but that is not where we will stay," she vowed.

Scylla was backing away, and she backed away further with every step the other woman took forward. The anger, and then that blank expression, that unthinking submission. She was speaking to a ******** cultist. Scylla had never seen such vacancy in the Negaverse. They knew what they were. This woman was the equivalent of a member of the goddamn Manson Family or something. Dear God.She kept backing away- the only direction she had gone since she had first approached Acubens on the street. The only way she could go, with the disdain and the disgust roping around her throat, trying to choke away her breath along with the panic and the fury. Don't give in, she told herself desperately a the other senshi practically chased her across the roof; Don't give in. Don't explode. She'll use it to victimize herself, to make you look like the cruel, evil White Moon senshi- She's a fanatic. A fanatic who had seen truth and threw it aside for their own delusions. What had they done.It might have been okay. It might have been fine. But then Acubens touched her, and Scylla- she couldn't- there was too much frustration, and too much rage, and too much pain at the wounds she had opened to try and share with someone who didn't want to know. Acubens had been seeking some kind of validation, and Scylla had denied it, and now what she had shared was being fanaticized away. But Acubens touched her, and it meant little that the DMC wasn't a Princess, she could only see her friends being thrown through the mirror and coming out... changed. Her voice fell clear and strong between them, full of fury and rage. "Scylla's Hunger!" she screamed, and tentacles rose from the ground around them, pushing the kneeling Dark Mirror senshi, shoving her back, shoving her away. Fury, and pain, and a rage that was responded to by the magic deep within her. Not an attack, but a barrier; she did not try and harm her, but she was not welcome so close. "I'll believe it when I see it." she told the other woman, her power hovering between them, hungry to be unchained. "I have seen precious little from the Dark Mirror that isn't self-advantageous. You were created to serve Chaos- even your acts of kindness are built for your own self-interest. Prove me wrong if you think you can- and don't touch me."

Suddenly Acubens was somewhere that she wasn't before. Somewhere away. She had tumbled down somewhere in the middle of it and now she gazed up at the sky from her back. Well... she certainly hadn't seen that coming. Acubens twisted to her knees, resting on them while she spoke. She had not meant to be a threat... why had Scylla treated her as such? Oh...She'd been over-zealous. Acubens gazed down at her hands, sliced with minor cuts, like a wild band of kittens had attacked her arms... She had to get a handle on her emotions if she was going to be gathering information like this. If she was going to make Remarque proud, she had to work harder. And she would. Starting now. "I... I apologize. I should have thought before I spoke. I only meant that... you've seen so little of us. That night... I am so sorry for the losses that you suffered then... and that you continue to suffer now from the echoes of that night." She had to choose her next words carefully if she wanted to learn more. She'd already done the damage. She'd been blinded by her own emotions, she hadn't thought. But maybe she could still cross this bridge. "It is... unfair to make your judgement based on that night, however." Carefully. "Ares has not been seen in... in years. We operate with different rules now. Under different rulers now. My only mission is to learn. That is what I am trying to do. I didn't mean to offend you I just... I feel like I can understand our place now that... now that I know what happened... that night".
