So go figure. From the depths of the Negaverse of all places, Desdemona had ended up with a new companion: a tiny, mewling kitten who couldn't seem to get enough of her. Even if she'd taken it under the premise of surprising her sister when she got home, it was kind of a thinly veiled excuse. Anyone who really knew Desdemona (which, admittedly, wasn't very many people at all) knew that she was a a cat lover. Maybe in some ways she desperately needed another reason to go home, and even if she wouldn't admit it, one creature in the world she didn't have to wear one of her masks around.
Of course, the little rascal was still sorely lacking a name, but that would come in due time. It'd been hard enough to pry herself away from the little furball at all, but she did need to go pick up some things for the little rascal to help it get settled. Traces of the last feline resident surely lingered here and there, but it'd been so long since then... and so that was what saw her precariously balancing a few bags on each arm as Desdemona strode back through the door, trying to make sure no tiny ball of fluff were armed and ready to make for the door.
It was only when she shut it that she realized she was not alone. "Poppy?" she asked, blinking, her brow already furrowed as she set down the bags and took in the sight of her sister curled in one of the chairs. "Poppy, honey, hey, are you - " She strode closer, quickly. "Are you alright?"

The kitten itself might not have been mewling, but Poppy was; desperate tiny little noises as she fisted her hands in her hair and curled tighter into herself, her face tucked into her knees. The lights were off, and she was still wearing her school uniform, pristine as ever -- it took a few seconds for her to process Desdemona's words at all, and she desperately pleaded "Quiet -" as low-volume as she could be while still audible.
(There was still bruising going all up her neck, splotched-shiny; the color that meant it was healing but it'd been nasty when it'd appeared. Her henshin pen was cast away on the nearby table, ignored, unheld.)
