Personality: After having experienced so many mentally devastating experiences as a young boy, Ran naturally grew a rather nasty and unforgiving personality. Because of his own weaknesses in his past, unable to do anything for anyone he cared for, he has a distinct hatred for anything weak and fragile. He can often times be cold and apathetic towards normally pressuring things, giving them minimal emotional response. But his one true weakness is forming bonds with others. He despises this most of all. He can’t bring himself to trust others, or even worse, care for them. One due to the possibility of being betrayed, and two from the possibility of something happening to that person because he was too weak to do anything about it. So he spends his days and sometimes nights training his heart out until he quite literally collapses into sleep. Underneath it all, he seems to have a weakness for older girls and women who remind him or his mother or sister, as they were the absolute most important things to him. Finally, he walks the path of the Pirate not because he’s an inherently bad man, but because the World Government and the Revolutionaries had a hand in the demise of his family, and his innocence. These two factions awakened an unquenchable fury within him, causing for him to randomly fall into violent flashes of anger, normally leading to him destroying anything within his immediate vicinity.

Biography: Ran, as a boy, grew up under harsh inhumane conditions. From birth he was forced to live in the slums of a terrorist controlled location deeply hidden from the watch of the World Government or Revolutionaries. It was riddled with Pirates and Mad-men—people who had fallen so low in depravity that they’d sooner eat their own fellow human than subject themselves to falling further. Living in a single parent household under his mother’s care, he and his older sister had to grow strong on their own in order to survive. With no father to guide, strengthen, and protect them, the two could only leave everything to their mother, and do unfortunate deeds to compensate for what would be lacking beyond that. On his older sister’s tenth birthday, Ran being eight at the time, the siblings had gone to sneak into a completely forbidden zone that housed the darkest secrets of the town they lived in.

Anyone who entered was said to never return. Alive at least. Every so often they’d hear whispers and pleas while passing by the entry way, but the kids knew better than to enter. But one day, for a reason Ran could not fathom, his older sister entered in such a determined fashion—Ran followed after her in a panic to bring his foolish sister back. After making it inside of the clearly man-made tunnel, deep within, they run into a massive dome-like room with strange pale-green lights lit around with a massive blue crystal sticking out of the center top of the dome, which gives off an almost violent blue shimmer as if alive. Entranced by the sight, the siblings failed to notice some oddly dressed men enter and approach them from behind. Without even getting a chance to defend themselves or run away, both Ran and his sister were knocked unconscious from blows to the head by the backside of some rifles. After an unknown amount of time, Ran was forcibly awoken by the agonizingly blood curdling screams of his sister.

His eyes wide in panic, and his heart racing, he throws his vision from side to side hoping to find her, but finally looks up to see her hanging upside down, suspended by weird chains, and spilling blood like a fountain from numerous sides of her body. Men dressed in full body gear stand around her, stabbing her with glow-tipped spear-shaped weapons. To this sight, Ran screams out in both rage and fear, feeling as though he’d lose his one and only sister in this hellhole of a place. At first the men stopped, but after being signaled by another of their subordinates, they continued their attacks. Ran’s sister’s screams went on for what seemed to be ever until finally, she stopped screaming. Ran watched her body motionlessly swing from side to side while tied up, but she never moved again after that. At that moment, countless thoughts and excuses flooded the young boys mind. He wanted to ignore it. He wanted to believe it was all fake—a dream even.

He wanted to close his eyes, wake up, and hug his big sister while crying his heart out from having a bad dream. But in the midst of his anguish, he knew all too well. Fiora would never open her eyes again. She’d never hold him, get him out of trouble, or kiss his forehead goodnight any longer. Right then and there, for unknown reasons, she was murdered. Something in Ran snapped then, but no one knew it, because beyond him snapping, he fell into despair. His heart and world were shattered and broken. The men, after taking Fiora’s body away to be disposed of, approached Ran in attempts to start their ‘experiements’ on him next. But as the men got close, they stopped in their tracks after seeing the face of the boy they hurt. Ran’s eyes were showing in such a way a child’s eyes should never look. Even if it was for but a fleeting moment, those men who killed his sister…felt fear. Another man, clearly having superiority over these other men, approached Ran with a hard grin giving off filthy vibes.

Under his orders, the other men took the young boy away deeper into the caverns, into a room covered in strange contraptions and machines no one in the Blues should have been capable of possessing. As Ran was placed down and connected to a large tube with luminescent blue liquid within, the last thing he can remember from that time is a monitor that had the words: “Project Raskreia” across it. He looked up in his weakening state, and saw the naked body of a woman inside an even more complex machine, hooked up to the ceiling of the room with countless metallic confinements about her body as if to hold back something comparable to a monster. Ran blacked out, and wouldn’t wake for many years. Three hundred and fifty to be exact. As he opened his eyes, he was within a large cold machine that seemed to open from his gain of consciousness. For a long time, he wandered about trying to figure out where he was, what he was doing and who he was for that matter.

After fiddling around with some of the machine for some time, he accidentally gained access to hidden files about himself. He learned of his past, where he had come from, and finally…he remembered what happened to him and his sister. The intense memories rushed back into him, and immediately he fell to his knees, holding his head in anger, crying out to the skies. Something he wanted to do for so long, but couldn’t. All he could think was, “I miss my sister!” More time passed by, and Ran entered the new world and era he had been born into. He was no longer a member of those underground containment slums. He was, for the most part, free. Yet even still, he felt a deep dark loneliness he knew not how to fill. A young boy left in a big world, tasked with fending for himself after relying so heavily on his sister and mother… It was hard. Many times he nearly died of starvation or falling prey to dangerous creatures, but somehow through it all he survived all on his own.

He had to do things he’d never imagined he’d need to while back home. During all of that time, he even fell to killing a young girl his age, and eating her from hyper deprivation. Some days after that event, he was found by a group of explorers who were traversing the nearby lands in search of someone named Hound Day. Said he was extremely dangerous, but weakened. Due to these people, Ran found company, and a temporary home. These people, after some time, explained themselves to be from a group called the Revolutionary army. Hearing their stories of adventures and battles sent limitless chills down the young boy’s spine. Ran had never heard of such heroic people before, and being able to travel with him made him happy, but it also made him regret what he had done to that young girl. After weeks of travels, finally the group found the super tyrant ‘Hound Day’, Yonkou, and destroyer of seventy kingdoms.

The pirate seemed to be severely injured and lacking of strength, and was easily cornered by the traveling group of Revolutionaries. That is, until they were approached by high ranking Marine officials from behind. Hound Day, figuring this was his chance, attempted to escape captivity, but was easily dispatched by the healthy marine Admiral that had come. While Hound Day was being arrested, Ran tried to thank the marines for their help, but was fiercly struck in the stomach by the same Admiral and looked down at with disgust. Soon he realized that these Marines were in league with the people who were experimenting on him. They were not only searching for Hound Day, but they were searching for Ran as well to wipe him out, and cover up their ‘failure’. In fear, Ran called out for the Revolutionaries who all had their backs turned. Until finally, the one who he had come to trust the most, turned his head with an insanely devious smirk about it.

He explained how he sold Ran out for ransom money, and that even the marines and Revolutionaries could work together in times like this. That was the last straw. Ran finally broke down. He lost everything, and gained something new. His last hope. And this hope betrayed him for money. The Revolutionaries trained him, taught him so many survival skills, and befriended him. But it all turned out to be a ruse to get closer to him, and sell him off to the World Government. Even now, Ran’s now sure of what happened, but he blacked out, and as he came to, all of the marines and revolutionaries were killed. Splattered and scattered all over the surrounding area. Ran’s body was covered in blood, and Hound Day was nowhere to be found. With nothing left for him, Ran escaped in a hurry to get away. Some odd years passed, and all he could do was to build upon the training given to him, and learn to survive on his own. He wanted to grow stronger so he’d never lose to people again.

He didn’t want to feel any more pain or suffering. But most of all, he didn’t want to start anymore bonds with people. He lost his sister, and he lost the only heroes he could believe in. To Ran, one simple result came from living.

              “Rage.”
