- ■ TEMPERAMENTAL Madoc has always had a particularly volatile temper. The littlest things seem to set him off and he is prone to violent and seemingly random mood swings. As a child this manifested in the form of uncontrollable tantrums, but as he grew older it settled into violent spurts of rage over minor annoyances and long periods of brooding and seething. Usually accompanied by something getting broken.
■ AGGRESSIVE Much like his sister Treva, Madoc has a nasty habit of picking fights with anyone and everyone, but he is more inclined towards brawls than verbal sparring matches. He perceives many things as insults, typically reads too much into situations, and is always on the offensive, too paranoid to let his guard down. He has a great deal of difficulty calming down a situation, or himself, much to the detriment of himself and the people around him.
■ BLUNT Madoc is brutally honest, and feels he has to be, surrounded by a family that tends to blur the truth more often than not. He doesn't spare anyone's feelings, or ever really attempt to save face, and has no problem stating directly what he thinks, directly to someone's face. He counts his truthful nature as one of his better traits, and while it may be, it certainly doesn't often gain him many friends, as he finds making small talk or sugarcoating things virtually impossible.
■ INTENSE Madoc feels everything very intensely. His feelings often carry him too far, and he rarely considers the repercussions of not getting a-hold of himself, simply because he doesn't know what else to do but ride the proverbial wave to its natural conclusion. Although he'd die before ever letting anyone see him cry, anger isn't the only emotion he feels deeply, like it or not.
■ HOSTILE Madoc generally begins all social interactions with the opinion that, if the other person doesn't dislike him already, they will soon. Naturally, this becomes a self-repeating prophecy. While he doesn't often go out of his way to bully or intimidate others, he's certainly not a very pleasant or even amiable person, and while he avoids people, also hates feeling as though he is being ignored or left out.
■ IMPULSIVE Madoc is extremely reckless and impulsive, and unlike his sister Treva, simply doesn't think. At all. If he regrets his actions, he refuses to admit to it, but he often gives up all responsibility for his choices, claiming privately to himself that he can't control himself. Which is very, very true. He rarely experiences real concrete consequences for his actions, and as such, has no incentive to even attempt any self-restraint.

- CHILDHOOD Madoc is the first son born into his father, Owain Warlow's, second marriage. Owain, the youngest of a large pureblooded family, was originally in an arranged marriage, which produced his first child and first daughter, Diantha. The marriage dissolved shortly after the girl's birth, and Owain remarried several years later, this time to his Hogwarts sweetheart, a muggleborn witch named Isolde Lewis. When Isolde discovered she was pregnant again, two years after the birth of her and Owain's first child, a daughter named Treva, both elder Warlows were a bit relieved, as Treva was a difficult child, and they thought a younger sibling would help her to mature and mellow out a bit.
They were very, very wrong. At first Treva completely scorned her new baby brother, while her parents were overjoyed to have a son, and while she didn't actively torment the new baby, didn't bother with him much either. Once Madoc was around two or three, however, it was clear that he and his metamorphmagus elder sister were inseperable. They fought like cats and dogs, but also seemed to function as partners in crime, much to the despair of their overwhelmed parents. In Madoc young Treva saw someone she could manipulate and use against anyone she didn't like, since he was prone to violence, to put it lightly, and his tantrums were legendary. In Treva young Madoc saw someone who could help him, if not calm down, at least find a target for all the anger he couldn't explain. Even if said target were the prized wedding dishes.
The relationship between siblings was at best cloyingly codependent, and at worst, a mix of nightmarish proportions. Madoc learned that as he grew older, he just grew angrier, and he had no idea why. Some things just made him, well, mad, and once he was off and running he had a hard time winding back down. Treva seemed to delight in setting him off, but she was also the only one capable of snapping him back into reality, so to speak, and so in a way he was stuck with her. As he grew older he grew more sullen, more prone to locking himself in the room he had to share with his younger brother, Steffan, and screaming until his throat hurt. Again, he had no explanation as to why. It was as if a switch just flipped, occasionally, and he didn't know what else to do but break or hurt something.
Treva pulled away from him when she went off to Hogwarts, leaving Madoc the eldest child at home, and with no one to commiserate and get into trouble with. He took out his outrage at the loss of Treva on his younger siblings, who quickly learned that while he was no master of insults, he punched and kicked hard and fast. They avoided him, his mother gave him the same pursed lip expression day in and day out, as if waiting for the inevitable bomb to go off, and his father yelled and disciplined as best he could.
The summer after Treva's first year Owain Warlow was killed in the line of duty on the job for the Ministry, and his mother completely shut down, leaving his elder half-sister, Di, to essentially run the household. Mad spent most of his time out with Treva, taking out the tidal wave of rage and grief inside him on any neighbor kid he came across. Both of their behavior was too much for Isolde, who sent them to spend the last few weeks of summer with their paternal grandparents. Madoc viewed this as a betrayal worst kind, and has barely spoken to his mother since then. He was happy to be going to Hogwarts to be reunited with Treva, but part of him sensed that she didn't consider him the same as she always had, and so he stewed, as usual.
SCHOOL YEARS
- FIRST YEAR Madoc was sorted into Gryffindor, which wasn't really a surprise, and secretly made him happy, since that had been his father's house. He also got into fights. Lots of them. Frequently broken up by his older sisters. He was in detention more often than anyplace else.
SECOND YEAR Madoc tried out for Quidditch and made reserve beater, to his surprise, and even went to the stupid Halloween carnival, since Treva wouldn't stop harassing him over. He sort of enjoyed himself. He also wished he'd stop staring at the Transfiguration professor.
THIRD YEAR After a rough summer in which his mother's affair with his (paternal) uncle was revealed, Madoc managed to make his first genuine friend, a Slytherin named Claude.
Despite some initial hostility, the two gradually grew on each other, despite being very different.
