He’d lived in Destiny City his whole life and yet he still wasn’t good at dealing with winter, and the cold which came along with it. In fact, he might be powered up and his tiara might serve as a nice way of finding him but the super senshi was bundled up in a coat and a scarf in order to keep warm...and maybe hide most of his uniform. It wasn’t that he was trying to hide, at least not that much, but he really didn’t like just how much he stood out.
The night was, thus far, silent and peaceful. Maybe everything that went bump in the night decided to call it a night due to extreme cold? And that made him the only idiot out in this weather….lovely. It was when he was turning around on his patrol, deciding to head home, that he felt what could only be a youma. Great...just great. Looks like the cold either didn’t bother them or they just didn’t have any ******** to give...lovely.
Rolling his green eyes he headed off for where he felt the signature, already cursing it internally. He really wanted to get home, hide under a pile of blankets, and poke about on his computer. Maybe he’d get something hot to eat as well...soup actually sounded like a nice idea to be honest.
“First though...youma dusting…” If he could find something between here and the youma that he could use against it, his own magic not suited for dusting youma. “Hot shower when I get home…” He mumbled to himself, figuring he’d need it as well in order to warm up.

Mel was cold. He hated winter he really did. The only good thing about winter was the new shows and even that sucked since he couldn’t exactly sneak into people’s houses and take over their remotes so he was just stuck watching from the windows like some creepy stalker, which he wasn't… nope… not at all. How could a cat be a stalker? Unless one counted a show stalker which he kinda was since he knew which houses in his normal path that watched his shows regularly. He just hated it when they weren’t there or, god forbid, changed the channel. Finding a place to crash would be so much better for his show watching but that seemed like it would be a long shot.
With a sigh the large cat hoofed it towards his current crashing pad, a local park’s bush that he had made a nest from some kid’s forgotten jacket. He was nearly there when he got distracted, for the third time. Unlike the first two, a shiny bottle and a blowing bag, this time it was actually something important. He spotted a youma. With a shout the cat bounded after the smaller youma, still much larger than Mel himself was, ready to take the chaos creature down even though he was far outclassed when it came to fighting.

As he closed in on the youma he also picked up on something else...a cat? He’d met them before and knew what they felt like, and he was figuring he felt a cat also now. Please, don’t let a cat try and fight a youma on it’s own - it was a cat! It wasn’t that he thought they were weak, he didn’t, but they were small and cats! Intelligent, and talking, or not they were still cats!
Picking up his pace, hoping to distract the youma, if it was already focused on the guardian cat, he too spotted the youma soon enough...and the cat. The cat was headed right for the youma. “Don’t!” Shouting out for the cat, hoping it would avoid this confrontation. Somehow he knew it wouldn't though….lovely...he really should have stayed home behind his computer.
As he closer, faster than the cat could, Chaldene brought his hands up and called on his magic, in the hopes of at least distracting the youma long enough to get the cat to move to a safe place.
“Chaldene Wisp's Secret.” Watching the blue wisps of magic head toward the youma. He didn’t wait for impact before he was turning green eyes onto the cat. “You need to get to safety - not fight a youma.”

This attack would go the same as above only this time the attack would last thirty seconds each time it's used and could now be used three times per battle. The significant difference however is that this time a person isn't simply distracted by the wisps appearing and vanishing only to reappear. But they are compelled, by magic and whispered words of encouragement, to look toward the wisps.
The same things can break the spell as before only now when the spell is broken the opponent would feel slightly confused and perhaps even a little disoriented.))

Startled by a shouted ‘Don’t’ Mel whiffed his attack. Rather than springing at the creature he just kind of… didn’t. It was like it was an aborted jump, he got maybe a few seconds of air before he landed a mere foot away from where he started at which point he indignantly yowled his annoyance at being surprised. “Don’t do that! I was in the middle of …… ooooooo pretty!” The large cat got distracted when the senshi, it was pretty obvious that the guy in the bright white outfit was a senshi, used his magic. It was tempting to chase after the pretty light the senshi fired out of his finger, Mel had even unconsciously hunkered down like he was about to spring after it, but even with not being the brightest crayon in the toolbox Mel knew not to mess with senshi magic. They tended to have some kind of bite to them most of the time. How he knew this exactly, he didn’t know. He just knew that he knew that it was true and it didn't really matter what he knew or how he knew it just that he did. Was that even a valid sentence?
It didn’t matter anyway since his fur stood on end in annoyance at the senshi’s next words. “Safety?! Just who do you think I am kid?” He wasn’t anyone, not really, but to Mel he was a protector. Like hell would he scamper off into the relative safety of the shadows while this boy fought the youma. “I got claws. I got teeth. I’m not going anywhere.” That brave statement was dampered when something caught the cat’s eye and he nearly chased after it, only to stop after a few bounding leaps. He was here to fight a youma, not chase some bug that decided to run for cover. “Um… yeah. Anyway. Let's go and dust the sucker! I’m missing my shows damn it.” This late at night it would be reruns but still, Mel didn’t want to miss them either way.

“I’m not a kid!” He shot back, moving his head in order to flip his dark hair from his face. It could, and he knew it, become a hindrance to his vision as the shock of dark black hair fell right into his right eye and nearly obscured it fully at times. He didn’t much care though - he was not cutting his hair….though he might trim it soon...ish….maybe. In actuality...it was likely to be forgotten about and not get done.
“You have small claws and small teeth compared to the youma.” He added shaking his head. The cat was missing his shows...seriously what the ********? He wanted to inquire about that, find out just what the cat was talking about, but he refrained from asking for the moment, he’d ask later.
“I’ll make it up to you somehow.” He tossed out then before glancing about. “Find me something to beat the thing with.” He called over to the cat while he moved in to try and deal with this physically, while hoping the cat would find him something he could use...he was no damn fighter and he knew it. “My magic isn’t the damage dealing kind so a weapon might be helpful.” Maybe he should consider carrying a pipe or bat with him once he powered up? The moment the thought entered his mind it was shot down. He wasn’t violent and that was more violent than he could ever be.

“Yeah well I’m not a cat!” Mel paused and added more, “well I am but I’m not just a cat I’m a guardian cat. I’m special and besides I’m big. Like seriously… there was this one time when some mangy dog thought that the scraps I had found were his and man-” The cat’s rambling story about his own prowess was cut off when the boy mentioned his claws and teeth being small compared to the youma. Mel growled low in his throat. If the kid thought his claws weren't sharp enough he will show him. As for his teeth, a good bite to the a** would teach the senshi not to judge a book by its words, or was it title?
Luckily for the senshi, at least as far as Mel was concerned, he offered to make up for the missed shows, that and the cat got distracted again and forgot about what he was angry about in the first place. At least temporarily. “Ok. You keep it distracted. I’ll find something.” Mel bounded off into the shadows looking for something, anything, that could be used to dust the youma. What neither realizes is that by distracting the cat with such a chore it might cause more harm than good. Hopefully he remembers what he is doing and not just wander off.

“I’m aware, still a cat body - like you said.” He stated rolling his green eyes. As the cat rambled on he sort of listened, incase anything important was said, but he really was more focused on the youma that was starting to come out from under his spell - damn it.
While the cat went to find something for him, he really hoped he found something soon, the senshi had to use his magic on the youma again. Again it was his super attack and he watched as the youma started to again wander. Rather than wait for the cat he moved in to take advantage of the youma’s dazed and rather lost state of being.
Striking out at the youma, seeking to do damage, the super senshi could only hope he could finish this off quickly. He didn’t care for the idea of the fight lingering as the youma seemed to have rather hard skin as he didn’t seem to be doing much to it as he kicked at one of its long limbs.

Well it turns out that there was some good news and some bad news when it came to the senshi sending the cat away to find a weapon. The bad news was that the cat had gotten distracted. Mel had actually been on the hunt for a weapon, as the senshi requested, but he quickly forgot about his objective when a scared mouse took off out of a bush practically under the cat’s nose. Mel had no choice but to give chase! He wasn’t hungry, he had found a place that was throwing out the end of day bread a while back, but it was just so much fun following after the mouse. Under bushes, around trees, he was so focused he nearly ran right into the door of a building the little critter slipped under.
Backing up it didn’t take long for the cat to see the sign that read ‘bathroom’. Judging by the size it was a single stall kinda deal but he still walked around it, squirming behind the large trashcan that was behind the building. That was when the good news occured. Mel found one of those plastic bats that young kids use to hit wiffle balls, this one was a bit bent at the top part and even had a hole in it, like the yellow plastic had melted some at the tip. It didn’t really matter what it looked like, it was a weapon. Which is when Mel remembered his original objective, find a weapon.
Hoping he wasn’t already too late the large cat bit the plastic bat by the handle and dragged it out into the open where he spit it out and started to gag. That thing had been behind the trashcan for a looooong time. Sadly now was not the time to daly so doing his best not to throw up the nice, if a little stale, pastries he had eaten earlier he picked the bat up once more and took off towards the aura he still felt. The youma and shenshi had to hear him coming, he made a god awful racket as he charged towards the combatants. The bat thwacking into trees and bushes along the way, getting a little bit more dented than it was before. Finally he reached them, breaking into the area through a particularly stubborn bush, at which point he promptly spit the bat out and started to paw at his tounge. “I think I need to clorox my tongue now” he tried to say although the senshi probably heard something significantly more garbled.

He’d just been getting thrown to the ground, rolling as he went across the ground, he came up onto his feet with some ease though he did shake his head a bit. He’d hit his head going down and was going to have a headache from that later, likely sooner than he wanted, but he could feel the cat returning and then there the cat was. He wasn’t empty handed though as it seemed he’d found something, even if that something was a yellow dinged up wiffle ball bat. It was still something and it would give him some reach as well - which was nice.
“Thank you. I owe you tv and food when this is over.” He’d bring him back with him to the Jacob’s home, Lily and her family all being powered up wouldn’t think twice over it which was good for him; he didn’t want questions. Instead the super senshi picked up the bat and went for the youma, swinging at the side of its midsection.
As much as his shoulder hurt swinging the bat, when he’d fallen he’d landed not just on his head but also on his shoulder hard, he was sure he’d be able to finish the youma off soon now that he had something to aid him in beating it up.

The cat would hold the senshi to that promise, at least for as long as he remembers it. For now though Mel sat quietly watching the boy in white swing at the youma, he wanted to help but he had been told to sit out of it… hadn't he? As Mel pondered this question, racking all his meager brain power, the fight continued on without him really paying attention. “OH! I know!” It was the first thing he had said in a little bit and it did not really bode well for anyone as the guardian just came up with an idea. It was a good one too, he was going to help in the fight.
With a shout of glee the cat bounded into the battle and went after the youma. Mel did his best to weave in and out of the creature’s legs, clawing whenever he got a chance. Between the two of them the thing had to go to dust sooner rather than later right?

The youma, changing its attention from the senshi to the youma, left itself open to getting smacked good and hard in the head. It seemed that the wack to the head did the job as the youma’s head seemed to cave in on itself before breaking apart in dust. With a screeching sound, similar to nails on a chalkboard, the youma turned to dust as it fell to the ground in a sort of morbid ashy rain.
Bending over, panting, he let the bat go and stood there staring at the cat and at the dust that coated the ground where the youma had been. “That’s done...should go now.” He said between breaths that were pulled into his lungs.

Mel knew youmas went to dust, he had seen it before but from a distance so it wasn't a surprise. He however did not appreciate the shower of dust he was graced with when the damn creature finally breathed its last. Coughing the cat gave his whole body a vigorous shake, his collar thingy shifting with each twitch. Finally he was free of the dust, his fur was sticking up in some spots but at least he wasn't dust covered anymore. With a sneeze the cat settled himself and started to groom only to stop and look at the senshi. Something was off. It was strange. Like there was a tugging inside Mel’s chest… a fizzing, or was it buzzing, in his brain. The guardian had no idea what it was. Didn’t know if it was normal or a sign of his impending death. Could a guardian cat even keel over from a brain thingy?
“Oy.” Mel padded over to the boy and stood up, leaning against the senshi. With his height he was significantly higher than an average cat. With a pat of his paw he spoke again, “Come down here. Down where I can reach you. Or you could pick me up. That should work too.” Work for what he didn’t know. Mel only knew that it felt right. He needed to be face to face with the kid. He needed to be.

Watching as the cat rid itself of the dust, almost making a face as he started to clean himself - wouldn’t he get lingering dust in his mouth? Youma dust in the mouth...gross - really gross. He watched as the cat paused and came over and leaned on him. Bending he obediently picked the large cat up and held him close. “Like this? It is easier, since I did say I was bringing you home.” To watch his shoes, and possibly to eat and maybe bathe as well - get the dust off himself for sure.
It would be quicker, and easier, if he just carried the cat rather than wait for the cat to follow him all the way back to the Jacobs home, since he had fairly long legs. That was the reason he figured the cat wanted the pick up, didn’t think anything was strange or off. So he started to walk with the cat in his arms securely.

He wanted to be picked up but he sure as s**t didnt want to be carried. “Stooooppppp! Man your making me sick!” Mel coughed a bit as he tried to settle into the hold of the boy. Who knew you could get seasick on land. It took a bit to get his bearings back after the senshi finally came to a stop. “God, what are you? Like 500 feet tall? It's like I’m on the top a tree during a windstorm, and I’ve done that before. It's not fun.” With a blink and a shake of his head he deliberately shoved his front paws into the kid’s chest, right over his heart, and looked him straight in the face. “Hold still. I have no idea what I’m doing but I got to do this.” He closed his eyes and muttered, “hope I don't screw this up.”
The cat let his mind drift, not that hard really, he let it follow the path that it had been tugging him down. Before he even knew it the guardian was quietly humming, practically purring, as he let his instincts take the lead as he coaxed further strength and power into this young man.

“Really? Motion sick?” He questioned as he stopped in his tracks. Was that possible? He didn’t know much on cats so the idea of motion sickness for a cat was very odd...didn’t cats like to be carried about? “I’m not that tall.” He said shaking his head and leaned down to press a quick kiss to the cats soft fur, his way of apologizing further. “I wasn’t aware you’d have an issue with motion or with the height.” His height being an issue was unexpected. Cats climbed and jumped onto tall things all the time - like trees.
Well, that didn’t sound promising, the cat was going to do something he didn’t know about...somehow he wondered if he should be afraid of this. He’d never thought he’d feel fear due to a cat...but he did sort of right now. He really hoped this cat didn’t screw this up also, whatever this was.
The fear, and worry, he was feeling was gone suddenly as a surge of power hit him. He’d felt it once, though not exactly like this, and knew what was happening. He wasn’t expecting it though, why would he? The feeling was strong enough that he didn’t notice closing his eyes but when it passed and he was looking down, and around, at himself his uniform had changed and wings...he had wings. Well, he expected that but his at least weren’t the normal wings you got. His fit his style as they were pierced. “Eternal…” He whispered and pressed his face on top of the cats. “That’s what you felt…”

The senshi wasn’t the only one surprised, Mel was as well when he opened his eyes to find the fellow holding him was now in a spiffy new uniform and ‘felt’ much stronger. “Now how the hell did that happen?” He blinked slowly, taking in all the changes, absently headbutting against the kid when he decided to hide his face in Mel’s fur. It took him a little bit longer before the cat gave a kitty shrug and said, “Cool. Can we go watch Criminal Minds now?”
He squirmed out of the senshi’s arms and started to bat at the butt wing jewelry before getting distracted by the sash that he had gained as well. “Wonder what this tastes like” he said absently as he swatted at the filmy cloth.

Shifting he turned a bit and stared down at the cat. “I don’t think you’ll want to eat that…” He said, speaking of his sash. He’d heard, more than seen, the cat play with the piercings which dangled from the new wings he’d acquired. He really wished there was something reflective around so he could see what he looked like, aside from the wings and sah and well...everything waist down. Oh well, another time.
“Of course...let’s go. Just...there are two other senshi in the house and two knights…” He warned the cat..or maybe just told him. “You can talk in the house, no one will mind.”
“Come on, follow me.” Since it seemed the cat did not want to be carried...he would just lead the way home.

“I don't want to eat it… just want to know what it tastes like.” Mel said indignantly. He knew quite well that the sash wasn’t edible, but c'mon how many times did one get a chance to see what magic tasted like? Never, that's what. Never. So now what's his only chance. It was a good thing that he got distracted by the senshi’s comments. “Oooo so a house of order? What's the house colors? Is there some kind of house crest? You know like in Game of Thrones. I haven’t really watched it since I still prefer Criminal Minds.” The cat followed along with the Eternal, rambling on about his shows and the characters. Bouncing to food and weapons. The poor senshi probably wished for some earplugs before they even went a block.
