Personality ▶ Alexius is a placid and calculating man who is always thinking one step ahead. He often states that every turn in battle is a part of his effortless planning. He speaks with a polite yet cold manner at all times, albeit terrifyingly so when he completely outwits his enemies. Though his intentions are sometimes questioned, he is indeed loyal to the Republic of Karst as he admires its humble and mysterious qualities. Perhaps a bit too confident of his abilities, he only half acknowledges his rivals. While they are intent on killing him and proving their superiority, Alexius will haughtily denounce their efforts. When they succeed, he congratulates them with quaint words of praise. As the Hand of Karst he tends to have a aggressive approach to running the Kingdom's money. When thrown into combat he believes that using an offensive form of defense saves much more lives than simply waiting it out, allowing more bodies to pile up. Extremely eccentric & childlike. Enjoys watching and inflicting misery on his opponents in a sadistic, cruel fashion from his years of conditioning in the cult. He also has trust issues as he refuses to reveal his face to those around him as while in the Hellfire Legion, they made their members believe that they where hideous monsters and that the only way to please their deity was to were masks. As such only those he trusts fully have seen what his face truly looks like.
Biography ▶
Sweet Beginnings
"I was born as Alexius Vanhelst, only son to the former College professor of fire of the Republic of Karst. I was a normal little boy for the most part, at least thats what i believed, as i was a prodigy of the mind. They were the best parents a boy could ask for. Rather than spoil me, they taught the value of hard work and being a humble person as well as the ins & outs of magic. I truly can say i enjoyed my childhood. But my blissful dream of life would be a horrific nightmare overnight. As I slept in my bed, i couldnt shake the feeling that there was something in the room with me. I opened my eyes to find a chorus of cloaked figures encamped around my bed. They were whispering words i could not understand, and then from the shadows came a blurred image, a ghastly contortion of darkness. It lifted me from bed, and the last words i heard that night, spoken in a low demonic tremble. Rejoice, for i have found my vessel, my chosen child."
The Demon of Hellfire
"Alexius Vanhelst was no more, now standing in his place was a young man indoctrinated into murder, espionage, and torture. I became a force of death. I was now a member of the Hellfire Legion, a cult devoted to an entity named Urielis. I remember my parents telling me stories about them as a little boy to try an scare me. I never thought in my wildest dream they were real. For the next 3 years I was broken, taught the ways of the cult. and in turn became a being of destruction. All members of the cult were forcefully fed the essence of Urielis in the form of silver fire in order to enhance the other senses in combat & abilities, and after 3 many years when it came time for me i refused. I couldnt go my life being a slave to spirit of old. I fought back, which impressed the generals of the cult. Without any training however i was sure to be killed. But as luck would have it, my magical powers finally sprouted, probably due to the stress of the dire situation, as well as being force fed Urielis' essence. It seemed that i impressed them, so much so that they trained me in the art of pryomancy combat. How to maim, flail, and obliterate and enemy with my magical power & swordplay. From age 14 to 21 I served as the only magical warrior with a free mind & body within the cult. Though I had become accustomed to the ways of the cult, I knew that eventually they would kill me, and i refused to die. They had taken me away from my family, my home, and that was unforgivable. It was something they knew as well, as when the time came they brought the main bulk of the cult's army to end me. When it was all said and done i had decimated of their forces and was only yards away from freedom. In a desperate attempt to live, cornered by impending reinforcements and with no where to go but into a chasm, i jumped. I barely survived the fall, clingy hopelessly to life. But one thing was certain, i was free.
Rebirth
With my life in hand and freedom, I returned to Karst only to find ruin and disorder. The next four years of my life were spent searching for the remnants of my country and after searching, i finally found them far in the north. Once there i made a living for myself. Learned all that i could from the college and then set out to help make Karst better than what it once was. In time, more like 6000 years i have sharpened my mind into a far greater threat than my magic and have become the "Hand of Karst" and oversee the financial well being of the Kingdom.
