Liira could see the ugly thing already. It's wiry whiskers gave a small twitch as it stared Liira down and she stopped in her tracks. What was it doing in their home? She felt a shudder come on and she grimaced, her face pulling into a look of utter disgust.
She. Hated. Rodents.
It was a poscuta and she was all but ready to throw everything in her hands at the damned thing. She was putting away the laundry, but now she would have to try to kill this damned thing, make it sorry it ever considered stepping into her home. It must have gotten in when she was grabbing the laundry from the line outside. She hadn't meant to leave the door open and now she knew why she always closed it.
She grabbed her shoe, holding it steady in one hand and watching, making sure that it didn't move. She scooted to the side, hoping to make a clear path so if she missed, at least the ugly thing would run outside and not under the furniture or into a room. With the gross feeling still tingling through her body she reared back and with all her strength whipped her shoe straight for the poscuta. With a series of squeals and squeaks and the tapping of its disgusting toes it scurried away from the shoe and broke into a flat out sprint away from Liira, her laundry still in her hand, back against the wall, almost holding her breath. It was an irrational feeling, but Liira felt her lips peel back as it ran out the door. She missed. But at least it was gone.
