Fire...Fire everywhere. The heat of the flames, the crackling sounding like thunder in his ears. No...
"NO!
The naiad suddenly jolted upright from his bed of kelp, bubbles still floating from his outcry. No fire. He was home, in his little water cave in the lake. What was he doing? Comfortable, safe when everyone else, everyone he knew...
No. He rose from his bed, shoveling random objects into his arms. A cup, a necklace, a particularly sparkly rock. He hadn't acquired much since his last purge. With a flick of his tail he was out of his home. Along his route to the surface, he dropped off these little tokens randomly at other naiads knooks until he was left with the rock. Ichane broke the surface, still in a panic.
He wasn't far enough from the memories. If only he could swim faster! Like a beeline to the shore, his tail splitting into legs so he could run up it. But no matter how fast his legs carried him, the thoughts still lingered.

Tamara was.... well....according to the map she was lost. Ut in her heart of hearts, she knew where she was going. Er.... well..... She glanced this way, then that way. Then back at the map. She was...."Fiddlesticks" she murmered. She was lost. She had to have made a romg turn somewhere but she could have sworn she had followed the darn map to a T. Sighing, she rolled it up, and held on to it as though her lif depended on it. Dang it. How was she supposed to get home now? Taking another, shorter, walk through some branches, she came upon a lake. Or at least a glimpse of it before someone mowed her down like a lawnmower. Sputtering in indignation, she struggled to her feet and turned to ask the lawnmower what the hecl his problem was.

Faster! Why couldn't his legs go any faster? At this speed he was barely registering what was in front of him, only where to jump to avoid rocks. So when he saw the leafed fae, it was already too late. BAM! Right into her, and his momentum carried him further. Of course he had run into someone, so he did skitter to a halt before turning. "Oh, I'm sorry ma'am!" Careless, clumsy him.
The naiad quickly trotted over to her just as she was getting to her feet. Having some pae there, physically there, helped distract from his nightmare. "Are you hurt?"

Well at least this one had manners. Dusting herself off, she frowned. "I seem to be okay. Though my tailbone is a bit sore." She admited. A little reluctantly.
Finally, she took a moment to glance at her attacker. Hmm... "It seems as tho we haven't met. Yet we are physically familair given our fall. " she paused to stick out her hand to the chained naiad, purposely ignoring his rather odd assortment of jewelry.
"I find that introductions tell a lot about someone. My name is Tamara. " she announced. Then she waited for his response.

At her admission, he frowned slightly. That would not do at all, he hurt her. Why didn't he not pay more attention?
She had given him a name, so of course he needed to give one back. He took her hand and with a bow, lifted it to his lips to kiss its back. "I am Ichane. I'd say pleasure to meet you, but had we not you'd be unharmed." He let go of her hand while straightening, his other hand still holding the shiny rock. "If I might ask, what are you doing here? In the middle of no where?" It was strange, quite strange.

Tamara squelched her ick at his hand kissi g (so many germs...). She instead focused on keep her smile intact and pleasant. He did not know he was gross things. Oh. Words were spilling from his lips.
"That is not the case. I could have hurt myself a number of other ways. " she admonished. Silly pae. As to his question..
"Well, i am afraid to admit this but it seems that i am lost. I must have took a wrong turn somehwere, but i cannot figure out where. I attempted to follow the map i was goven but mapreading was not one of my skills."

"Ah, true true. Still, my crashing into you did not help." He spoke with a faint smile. At mention of a map, he looked to her other hand. That made sense. "Where were you heading? Perhaps I could help?" The least he could do for his carelessness earlier.

Sighing with relief, shw gave Ichane the first real smile all day. "Oh blessed be, that would be wonderful. I am trying to return to the city. I could have sworn that i was supposed to turn left at the Marsh but I did and now..." she moved her hands out in kinda a tadah motion. "If you could just point me the right way, i would be ever so grateful to you."

She did have a lovely smile! He did love making other pae smile. "The city?" He echoed back thoughtfully while looking up.
Now, being a pure blooded naiad he didn't know what it was like to have wings. But couldn't she just...fly up to get her bearings?
Maybe something was wrong with her wings. Or she was scared of heights. Or it wouldn't really help her.
Or she was just dumb.
Either way, he wasn't about to ask and potentially embarrass her when she had been so pleasant towards him. And he did owe her for the crash. And she would be grateful for the help. They'd be even! What a relief to not be in debt to her. "So, I know that the city circles around the island. And you can see it from the lake. And I saw it yesterday so..." The male tilted his head thoughtfully while calculating its general speed to the position he saw it yesterday. "It should be...That way." He reached out, pointing slightly to the right of them. "When you hit the farmland you should be able to see it! I can even accompany you for the day to make sure you don't get turned about again." And the longer he had some pae to talk to, the farther away he got from his nightmare.DaemonGabrielle Don't mind Ichane XD he can be a jerkface

"Oh. Well...sure. that would be fine." Tamara tried her damndest not to let her surprise show. It wasn't that she didn't like fish. It was more...she had problems understanding how a fish could lead her anywhere besides water. I mean, they were fish. Weren't they?
"I'm sure another able body wouldn't hurt." She paused and looked around. "Erm...Which way did you say again?"

The naiad flashed a bright smile at her agreement before taking a step forward. "Yes, yes, this way, my dear Tamara." He started before she could change her mind. Slanted right, they'd be out of the forest in no time and she'd be on her way to the City. And he'd be clean of running into her. Thankfully a way to repay her had opened up so easily, else he'd be in a bit of a mind. "We got a bit of a walk. Tell me about yourself. I know you're lost, but don't know how in the first place. What brings such a leafy winged pae out of the protection of the City?" Its dangerous you know... The last part he thought to himself. Now, thankfully he were a naiad and not a faun -ugh, hooved weirdos- else they'd be in quite the pickle indeed. Everyone knew of the volatile situation between the angels and demons versus the faun.

Tamara pondered his question as she stepped in line behind him to follow. Should she tell him about her mixed heritage? I mean, what if he were to attack her? Then again, he was just a fish. So what harm could he possibly do? She eyes his chain warily. Then again....
Taking a deep breath, she decided to just go with it. The Goddess obviously wanted her on this path, so she might as well comply. "I was visiting family from the Tree. My father gave me a map to follow back to town but I am afraid either my skills are not up to Faun standards or he had a very outdated map. I mean, I have run across towns that weren't even listed." She finished, taking a deep breath.
Phew. It wasn't that hard to be cheerful and friendly. And even tho she was down wind, she was surprised to find the air almost fresh amd clean. She would have thought he would smell like the fish at market. She wondered what the differemce was....

When she started speaking again, he nodded. "Ah, yes, yes I see, I-..." Did she say the Tree? As in Laisidhiel? Instantly his head turned, green eyes flashing down to her feet. No hooves.
Thank the spirits no hooves. "You're...adopted. Ha, ha ha..." The mere thought sent shivers down his spine. Weird cloven footed creatures! How did they stand it? Hooves were just...just...so unnatural! He quickly shook his head, forcing his mind back on track. She wasn't a faun, no need to worry. "Yes, I've noticed more and more development of villages. Quite interesting. I try to avoid them myself though. Too many pae. Don't do well in crowds."

Tamara gave the friendly fish an odd, questioning glance. Why was he staring at her towes? She looked down to inspect her feet, only to find them muddy and covered in grime. Ew. She'd stare too. That is disgusting. Gods, she needed a bath.
"Er....Not really adopted, actually. My father is a faun." She explained, still focused figuring out how she was gonna clean all the nasty gunk from under her toenails.
"People aren't so bad in the city. A bit brasher and somewhat more inclined to mind their own business tho. "
Maybe she could scrub them on the grass as she walked...?

His head cocked to the side as she clarified her heritage. She didn't look a thing like a faun though! No fur, no hooves, no antlers -though there were some winged leaf things on her head he wouldn't classify them as 'antlers'. Denial? Had to be denial. Adopted but never told that she was.
He'd leave his ponderings be though. She didn't have those disgusting hooves, which was about all he cared about. Back to the topic at hand. He was now trying to puzzle out if she had meant the tail end of her sentence as a jab at him. He had asked a couple of personal questions of her, but how else was a conversation to go? Talking about the weather was so...dull.
He'd dismiss it as a statement and nothing deeper. "I'd have to take your word for it. Pae of the...water variety aren't exactly welcomed there. In fact, I'm much curious as to why you'd be in the City at all then. Or how you'd be allowed to the Tree if you're from the City. Isn't there a whole big deal with the City and the Tree and a bomb? I'd think one if not both sides would be upset with you visiting the other." Oh she was fascinating. He could talk to her for ages, the memory of his panic inducing nightmare already faded into the corners of his mind.
