Dasha was a little nervous. She had never actually met someone from the internet before, of course this wasn’t really someone from the internet…more like someone from a dating app…but still. She had talked to Piper on the phone for more than a few hours, and the two of them had agreed to meet up at a local café…which sounded really nice.
So, there she sat, a small bunch of flowers on the table and a cup of water already in front of her.
It might have been a little reckless, and she hadn’t even told anyone she was coming…which was a little strange…she used to be so close to her siblings, especially Gala, but…really ever since Feliks had disappeared…and it had been so long already…
Dasha had really just been shutting down, slowly moving more and more away from her family. And this secret meeting of a girl who she considered to be her girlfriend was just the latest part of that drift.
When she saw who she thought to be Piper…it looked like the pictures she had seen anyway, she stood up and waved, feeling kind of silly, but really, really excited.

When she'd left her apartment, Piper almost hadn't recognized herself. Her long, wild hair had been somewhat tamed into a loose bun at the back of her head and she'd made it a point to scrub then engine grease off after her race.
Still, dressing in clothes that were on the classier side of things was odd. But hey! First dates required such things. Particularly when the date was as cute as Dasha. As she gunned the engine of her car, she grinned a little. Strange how she and Dasha had seemed to just click. But who was she to question such things? Really, Dasha had been the first person she'd felt comfortable talking to since her parents had dragged her to this miserable continent.
Snorting in irritation at the thought of her folks, Piper headed for the parking lot of the cafe and slid into a spot, narrowly avoiding a hoity toity looking old bint. Cheerfully flipping the old bird the, well, bird, she slammed the car door and headed inside.
Seeing someone who could only be Dasha stand up and wave, Piper grinned and waved back.
"G'day, lovely! Haven't kept y'waiting too long, have I?"

That was indeed Piper. The adorable Australian accent had Dasha’s heart going pitter patter before she could even really think about it. “No, no…not long at all, Piper. Not long at all!”
Quickly, she grabbed the flowers from the table and held them out to the other girl. “Um…here! I brought these for you, I figured you couldn’t go on a date without bringing flowers…right? That’s how it always works in the movies and shows so…”
She gave a smile and sat back down, gesturing for Piper to take a seat too…the girl was even prettier than her pictures…honestly, Dasha couldn’t figure out right now how she had gotten so lucky. She wasn’t complaining though, but. She couldn’t figure it out, really.
“Did you find this place okay?”

Grinning as she got to the table, Piper laughed cheerfully as she accepted the flowers.
"Tolja, love, call me Pipes and these are lovely. 'Strewth, I'm fair gobsmacked at how sweet y'are!"
Setting the flowers on the table where no harm could come to them, she sat down beside Dasha and impulsively leaned over to brush a kiss against the other girl's cheek. Then, she winked and leaned into the back of her chair.
"Oh, this place was easy enough t'find. All the streets are marked so clearly, it'd be impossible to get lost. Not like Straya!"
Laughing a little, she picked up one of the menus on the table and glanced over it.
"So what's good here? Besides you, I mean," she added with a wicked little smile.

“I know you told me to call you Pipes…but I don’t know…I like the way that Piper sounds…when I think of Pipes…I think of rusty damp things where rats crawl through, and you are none of those things.” Dasha’s face heated up at the kiss on her cheek, and she thought that perhaps this girl was going to be the key to really being happy again.
“But I mean, if you like being called Pipes, I’ll do my best.” She shrugged, glancing at the menu. “I mean, I’m nothing compared to you so, clearly this place is the best place around since it has the both of us. But so far as food, I haven’t tried anything here that isn’t good, so…they have this ginger iced tea which is to die for, so I highly recommend that for a drink…”
Dasha looked over at Piper—Pipes. Whatever she wanted to be called and couldn’t keep a stupid smile from forming on her face. “You know, you’re even prettier in person.”

"Then I'll try that. I like ginger," Piper replied, scanning over the menu and marveling at just how bloody adorable Dasha was. "And really, you're bein' too kind. D'you have any idea how gorgeous you are?"
Grinning, she reached up to boop Dasha's nose and caught sight of an older couple staring at them with an expression that Piper didn't like at all. Reacting instinctively, she reached out to pull Dasha close with one arm and with a crooked grin, stared the couple down and flipped them off.
"What's your problem, y'wankers? ******** off and mind your own business!"
Then, just to add fuel to the fire to salt to the wounds, she turned and pulled Dash into a full blown kiss that would be guaranteed to melt the plastic of the old bigots' specs.

Dasha just shook her head, unable to keep the stupid grin off her face. The smile felt like it would just stay there forever. Though, when she saw Piper’s face twist into something less than joy, she paused, and when she was kissed out of the blue and Piper was flicking off some poor, innocent old folks…
Well. The kiss was nice, and when it was done, she laughed shaking her head. “Ahaha! Piper!”
Her face was bright red and she held the menu up over her face for a moment to block out the rest of the café, but the giggles continued.
Oh Piper was naughty. She had never thought of herself as being with someone who was like this, not really, at least.
Finally she put the menu down, hoping her face was less red (it wasn’t), and looked at her girlfriend.
“I mean…I’m okay looking, but…people are gonna notice me a lot more with you beside me, Pipes.” It was easier to say the nickname that time, even though she still wasn’t quite sure she liked it.
“I think you and I are going to do quite well together, but that’s just a hunch…I know, you’re better in person then I ever expected anyone to be…I guess online dating isn’t that bad!”

Keeping her eyes on the couple and staring them down, while keeping her arm loosely slung over Dasha's shoulders, Piper simply smiled. If she'd thought Dasha was cute before, the blushing fit had just upped the adorability factor to insane levels.
Turning her head just enough to wink at her date, Piper sighed and gave the other girl's shoulder a squeeze.
"People notice you, sweetheart. And I think you're ********' precious, so there. 'sides, I work hard to make sure people do notice me. I enjoy tweakin' noses. You're not that type, but that's fine. Don't think I could be in the same space as someone who was just like me for more'n a few seconds before I tried to start breakin' skulls."
Piper's laugh rang out sweet and clear. Clearly she was thoroughly pleased with herself and with Dasha. She was especially pleased with her date's declaration that they'd do well together.
"Spoken like a true prophetess, lovely."

This date…this jumping out of her comfort zone had to have been one of the best things that Dasha could have done for herself. This was the best she had felt in a very, very long time…and even though she was still fighting with more negative feelings than she could really deal with on her own…this girl was such a bright spot that it made the negativity seem small.
“Well, I suppose, Pipes…if you wanted to tweak my nose, you absolutely could? But I’m going to go out on a limb and assume that’s some fancy Australian slang for pissing people off, but I could be wrong.” She didn’t quite thing she was wrong though, and she grinned again. “But maybe…maybe you could twea…teach me. The art of nose tweaking? I could stand to get a little more outgoing like you, if you don’t mind…I…I’ve been withdrawing, and I’m kind of worried about myself, so if you don’t mind…I’d like to just spend all the time I can with you because, and I’m sure this will come as a total and complete shock, but…”
Dasha gave what she hoped was a smile that was full of mischief, but with her still reddened face, it just made her look like a stupid tomato.
“But I like you.”
Flirting was hard.

"Dead in the black, Dasha," Piper grinned and tightened her arm around the other girl's shoulders. "Though I suppose it's rightly more of an overseas thing? I've met a fair few folk from the UK who say it too."
Tilting her head as she listened to Dasha talk, Piper couldn't help but admire how hard the girl was trying to break out of her comfort zone. And admittedly, the request for lessons was terribly charming. And it only got better with the inclusion of that smile and blushing face.
"I'm happy to help, lovely. If you're worried about withdrawing too much, we can definitely work on getting you through whatever's goin' on."
Grinning, she reached out with her free hand and ran a light fingertip down the bridge of Dasha's nose.
"I like you too."
Man, flirting was great.
