▶ TEMPERED — Garnet's attitude could be from a family drama background, though that honestly doesn't excuse him to be like that. He gets easily annoyed to certain people and specific situations, resulting something that resembles a b*tchy attitude and he isn't even aware of it. His words tend to be short and rough on the edges, but he would do his best to bite his tongue since he knew better than causing a fight or making enemies... But is he even trying?
▶ WARY — He observes before he speaks or acts, and that's how Garnet rolls. He did not think that diving things headfirst is a good idea for anyone, nor was letting his first thoughts take the wheel of his actions. He could also be a bit too wary of things around him, leading him to have anxious thoughts and it makes him quite restless. He can be really cynical, too, as he grew the mentality that he should keep his guard so much that he ended up getting trust issues... So good luck earning his trust when you meet him
▶ LONESOME — Garnet doesn't have an ego, but he doesn't really like being not recognized or ignored. It has been a problem ever since his bitterness began to surface onto him, which lead him to think that maybe people just didn't like him because of his family's bad reputation or the fact that his father is a criminal. He is beginning to learn to accept his thinking that the only people who could give him a warm hand are his family alone, but there are times he wants to think otherwise. He likes being in a group of people, especially the type who would not mind his presence even if it meant handling his hard shell.
▶ ASPIRING — Someone who had a lot to prove to himself, Garnet wanted to do anything that would make up for his messy childhood and wanted to show people that he is anything but his ancestors. He is pretty much of a daydreamer himself, too, and he tends to imagine things he wished to happen in the future. Fortunately, he knows that he should still keep his feet on the ground as possible.

▶ CHILDHOOD — Garnet is the only son of Jasper Mortemer and Amelia Weaver, respectively a Hit Wizard and a Wizengamot Member. Jasper's family is quite a family sneered upon since the end of the Second Wizarding War, as it was strongly proven that the amount of the Mortemer family members participated on Voldemort's side. Some were convicted and went to prison, while some managed to dodge a bullet and continued the family's wealthy line because some of them, while supporting Voldemort from the distance, didn't really join the Death Eaters army hence they didn't get that Dark Mark tattoo, so they were presumed that they were being imperioused or something like that. Besides, Garnet's grandfather was way too busy traveling the globe collecting stuff to participate in that stuff, anyway, so he was spared too. Anyway, Garnet's parents met in Hogwarts. His mother was known to be a really good, just, and upstanding person from House Slytherin. His dad was in Gryffindor and he was a really brilliant student, only that he faced the stigma of his family's bad reputation. When she hooked up with him in their sixth year, people around them started giving him the benefit of the doubt, while some think that if she was a just and smart person maybe there was a reason why she was hanging out with him. Some say that it might be a second chance, some say that it was because she never discriminates anyone.
When they got married, they were beginning to question them more and more. Both of them struggle to their position but was able to finally get their position because her good reputation in Hogwarts and her grades were something that Law Office cannot deny. The father finally got his position, given the fact that he has excellent grades that the department didn't have a good reason to turn him down other than blatant discrimination. Also, they had a kid when they were like 19 or something in their honeymoon, and usually Jasper's grandparents took care of Garnet while they build up their jobs. He lives in a manor with his parents, his grandparents, and his uncle albeit not often; His uncle Topaz was a cursebreaker, and every time he came back to the manor there was always a conflict going on-- Something to do with the expectations beaten down to him as heir which could be why he tends to venture out home; aunt Beryl and uncle Lazuli were living somewhere and they were an inventor-metal charmer combo so they always work together and live together, like typical twins. Garnet's father, however, was pretty much busy in his job to one point that his mother Amelia did not approve of it.
Every time Garnet's parents weren't around, his grandfather would go strictly over him in hopes of making his magic show because of the fact that he was a late bloomer, with methods of verbal intimidation. His grandmother Ester, however, did not approve of his harsh methods and they fought each other because she saw it was stupid and unjust. Garnet would try to say this to his father but he wouldn't listen and brush it off, but fortunately his mother did so he grew attached to her. His grandfather figured that his grandson won't get his magic due to the mother so he told Jasper to fix it, so he did by trying to threaten Amelia into hitting her but the thing was, she was the one to fight back and threatened him back that she would gladly file a complaint with the court concerning domestic violence and tell him that he would never see his son again if he did. She won the argument.
One day, something happened around the manor, well, something incredibly bad when he was around eight. One time, his father and his grandfather got into a fight and the next day, the grandfather died without any injuries. It was proven that there were harmful chemicals inside him and it turned that he was poisoned and was assumed that it has something to do with his hobby of collecting precious stones, and he apparently mishandled a poisonous one. But Garnet's grandmother thought otherwise that given that Jasper was obsessed with getting the heir position because he thought he was much worthy than the rest. She told Amelia and Lazuli's wife Georgia (who was an auror) to investigate and months later they found some pieces of evidence that were pointed to Jasper, much of their distress. They contact the Law Enforcement with their evidence, but Jasper escaped when they arrived at the manor. Months later, Garnet heard the news of his aunt Beryl, her lover Robert, and aunt Georgia being murdered by his father, according to Lazuli who survived along with his niece Esmeralda if it wasn't for Georgia's intervention of the spell. After that news, Garnet grew cynical as time went by and refused to be alone in the manor, so he was usually with his grandmother when his mother was at work. His uncle Topaz finally decided to stay in the manor and decided to renovate the manor to remove the eerie atmosphere that was irking the whole family.
One time in January, when Garnet was ten and showing magic, his father appeared again during their family dinner to take his son from them-- Also he planned to kill his brother, his wife, and his mother as retribution of throwing him under the bus. Ester abruptly refused but she got hit by a stunning spell before she could bring out her wand, and the remaining two engaged in a duel with him. During the crossfire, Garnet was injured by his father's fire spell and his uncle come to his aid. His mother Amelia, however, was enraged by her husband and injured him with a sectumsempra scar, forcing him to escape and apparate. After that, Garnet has yet to shake from whatever happened during that time. He no longer talked to his neighbors and didn't come out of the house as often as he used to do. His mother and his uncle tried to console him as much as possible, but it seemed like it has stuck to Garnet's head and resulting in a bitter attitude. Anyway, he has magic now, so he was going to Hogwarts like all others.
▶ SCHOOL LIFE — Garnet, whether he liked it or not, attended Hogwarts. His train was initially quiet until he met a redhead muggleborn named Deaus, and he was his first friend in Hogwarts aside from Richard. After that, he was sorted to Slytherin just like his mother, which was one of the things that made him happy than anything. Other than that, he excelled at Herbology with his love for nature, and the rest were pretty much quiet for him if he ignored some sneers from strangers. Anyway, he also met another Gryffindor named Lucy Jacobs, a friendly (absent-minded) and upbeat classmate. Overall, Garnet came to think that maybe his first wasn't as bad as he expected.

▶ DECISIVE — When Topaz decides on something, it's final after moments of analyzing. He's a calculating person himself and usually doesn't dive in situations headfirst. He's confident on what he's anchoring with and holds into his beliefs even if it contrasts compared to what he used to hear from his ancestors. He could be really stubborn, though, and really hard to convince if he barely knows the person. It would also take time for someone to change his decisions, good luck with that. However, if his decisions turns out to go the wrong ones, he ends up being self-critical, thinking that he should've done better.
▶ WISE — His travels has done enough to give him enough experience and new knowledge to know what was going on. He isn't naive and he is pretty much streetsmart; Topaz' head and feet are planted right on the ground and he prefers to stay that way. Given his analytical thinking, he tends to think realistic about the things around him and believes that everything has to have a reason. Though in his personal opinion, he didn't think the background does not excuse a person from doing anything reckless.
▶ UPSTANDING — Topaz is wise enough to know that his family history is a mess to begin with, something he used to escape from. He doesn't discriminate anyone and doesn't care about whatever the person has as long as they have enough morals to know that he could socialize with comfortably. He does his best to be as understanding as possible when he lends an ear to anyone, and will help anyone that is within his reach.
▶ SOCIABLE — Perhaps he eventually learned not to lean of whatever people think of him as a Mortemer, and he would still try to talk to people nevertheless. Topaz isn't afraid to show that he is a really warm and personable person, since after all he is already convinced that alone would show that he is a good man. That trait pretty much surprised a few people who knew about his family, while some just were tempted to raise an eyebrow about his friendliness. However, he didn't think he needed to prove to them, since after all he thinks that almost everything he does pissed his father, hence thinking that it was nothing bad.
▶ PROPER — Despite his different ideals compared to his family's, he still didn't forget the ways of proper manners. He knows his manners and doesn't mind doing so as he sees fit. In fact, he didn't really see the point of abandoning your politeness to people when it is a great advantage and a great way to get along with people, really.

▶ CHILDHOOD — Topaz is the first-born son to Agate and Ester Mortemer, one was a Cursebreaker while the other was an Herbologist. Topaz's parents met when Agate was traveling around Norway hence meeting a beautiful and headstrong woman named Ester. Of course, it took a really long while before he could finally win her and her family's approval, as the Eide women tend to be hard to impress. So yes, they did got married and so they moved back to England and they started a family. While they were happy of having Topaz as a firstborn son, they think one child won't be enough. So that was when Jasper came in as a second, then eventually they had twins named Lazuli and Beryl. Topaz was raised well and proper, same goes to reading one book after the other at home as his adventure. Of course, he enjoys spending time outside the manor and there he reads the books under a nice tree.
However, when he tried to approach some of his wizarding neighbors, some of them were hesitant of approaching him, confusing the young boy. Disheartened, Topaz decided to continue in reading stuff in solitude aside from his siblings, though there were good times that he sneaked to make friends and socialize with muggle neighbors giving him an open mind. The four siblings were raised well, all of them showing magic at such an early age. Though, their father apparently paid much attention to Topaz and Jasper with strict teachings as proper wizards, whereas Ester paid attention to Lazuli and Beryl (Since Lazuli was, for Agate, "too meek" to get on his older brothers' level). Him and Jasper's relationship were pretty much complicated, as the younger brother always wanted to impress their strict father Agate and getting all the attention, whereas Topaz just do what he was told and didn't go any further to do more. The thing was both Topaz and Jasper were a pair of naturals, and Jasper was so determined to rival against his brother, though Topaz seemed to just be annoyed about it and brushed it off as some typical younger brother phase. As he received his acceptance letter to Hogwarts, there was only one thing Topaz had in mind: New things to learn. Not to mention that going to Hogwarts meant exploring things outside his sheltered home, so he was very excited to go to school in his first year.
▶ SCHOOL LIFE — It took a long minute until the Hat called Ravenclaw, as the hat once mentioned that he could have done good both in Gryffindor and in Ravenclaw. Nevertheless, Topaz took that as a compliment and was very satisfied in his sorting so he decided to join the Quidditch Team in his third year as a Seeker. The problem he had to face was that some students decided to avoid him, which left him heartbroken for his first year in Hogwarts. Eventually, he found out that his parents didn't tell him that they had a really bad reputation sticking onto them since the late 1990s, after the Second Wizarding War because apparently some of the old member in the family joined Voldemort's side and got convicted. Convinced that he was nothing like any of them, he decided to get up and prove that he's very unlike them, openly talking to anyone. The improvements were slow, of course, since some only gave him raised eyebrows. Fortunately, he made a few friends who did not mind him at all, and he turned out to be one reliable friend you count on. Because Topaz's friends mostly consist of what his family would consider "blood traitors", so he became more open and more subtly against some of his family's pureblood ethics.
In his third year, his brother Jasper arrived and much to Topaz's surprise, he got sorted to Gryffindor since he always thought that he would go to Slytherin. But Topaz supposed it made alot of sense, though; considering how determined and how assertive Jasper tended to be. He was relieved, though, because it meant that he didn't have to handle his brother that much. And he was wrong, because still there were times they argued with each other. It turned out that Jasper was bitter over how he always perceived that Topaz was the heir and all-knowing, even if the Ravenclaw didn't even have the intention to compete and added the fact that his views were becoming less-pureblood like. Topaz was offended by this and called him an 'idiot' for berating him about him being friendly to "lesser-bloods" before shutting Jasper out. Other than that, Topaz excelled in most subjects, nailing one test after the other. His hard work in Quidditch earned his first string position as a Seeker and lead a few cool wins for the house and so he graduated with great bliss.
▶ POST-GRADUATION — Right after he graduated, he was informed by his father Agate that he should get a proper pureblood wife as possible, which irked Topaz. The problem was that he didn't find any of his pureblood female schoolmates fancy, nor did he knew how to court anyone at all. He was very convinced that he didn't want a love life regardless of gender that to spite his father, he became a Cursebreaker and went to different places like a busy man just to give him an excuse not to stay at home for a long time. This travel was something he never regretted, not even once. As he traveled from one place to another, he learned a lot of things-- especially culinary arts. He decided to try studying it and found his passion for cooking. Other than that, he visited the manor sometimes, especially when his father called him. His father was rather disappointed in him because even with all the traveling he did, Topaz "wasted it on cooking and not on finding a proper pureblood", which pretty much offended him. Also, when he found out that his brother Jasper had a son who looked a lot like his father, which Topaz paid less attention to since he didn't initially care about Jasper's doings. Thus, he didn't know the treatment Agate did to Garnet for the fact that he was a late-bloomer.
A lot has changed when Topaz's father died of poison and then was later revealed that Jasper murdered him after he found out that Agate gave up about Topaz's disappointing behavior and decided to divide the will to his four children equally- though Jasper wanted to take it all. Then after his sister Beryl, Robert, and his sister-in-law Georgia died in murder leaving Lazuli injured and his newly-founded niece Esmeralda an orphan, Topaz blamed himself that he should've been more responsible, so he decided to stay in the manor as an heir and patriarch, but he'll do it in his own different way. That was when he discovered how his nephew Garnet was treated for "his lack of magic" by his father, which angered Topaz. So, he decided to renovate the manor, mainly to make his father roll in his grave, though his mother Ester didn't seem to care at all. He also tried to give support to Garnet as much as possible and comfort him about him "being a squib", which was pretty much working thanks to Ester's help. However, the family was wrong about Garnet being a squib- he turned out to be a late-bloomer when he revealed his first accidental magic at age 10. Then one time in January, Jasper "paid for a visit" in a family dinner and want a retaliation against Topaz, Amelia, and Ester for throwing him under the bus. So after stunning their mother, the three engaged in a duel. Topaz failed to shield the fire spell his Jasper had casted and the spell wounded Garnet, and so he rushed to his nephew's aid while Amelia and Jasper dueled against one another. After she scarred her husband and forcing him to run away again, they had a lot of thing to fix in the mess- In which the most concerned was his nephew Garnet and his growing bitterness.
Year 2034, in the Hogsmeade Memorial Park, Topaz met a man by the name of Antony Tempest. Well, technically, he was the one who approached him in the first place but that made him feel better. They seemed to have their own problems and talked here and there, and for two years they've been friends. Or rather, probably close friends.
