User Image Aurora sat at her bookstore, the shelves were lined with old and new books alike. She had an enchantment installed in the show and sold enchantments so clawed races couldn't rip the pages of the books. It was a very useful spell she loved it. It allowed her to turn the pages of her books without fear of book being destroyed by her claws. She was sitting on a stool behind the counter reading a book called "When a grimm grins." It was such a cute book already and Aurora had been laughing all afternoon as she read her book. She wasn't really paying much attention to see if anyone was coming into her store.

User Image Frit's tail could not help but swish back and forth a bit as she neared a bookstore she had never been to before. Bookstores were just the best when she was out hunting for information. The library would probably be better, easier, for her research projects, but bookstores came with surprises, and those were true treasures. The nightmare opened the door, and breathed in the smell of well kept books. She grinned and went straight for the non-fiction section. As of yet she had collected 47 books on plants in the down bellow, and she thirsted for more. The nightmare went along the isles, tapping a finger gently on each book as she read its title and author. Art section? Nope. Cooking? Closer. Gardening! The nightmare grinned as she leaned in, inspecting the books. She already had copies of a few of the shelved books, and tapped each one lovingly as she recognized old friends. Finally, she came upon a book she had not seen before, and she stopped to admire its binding before pulling it out. The book felt soft in her hands, and she ran a hand along the cover, admiring the gold printed words. Happily, the nightmare made her way to the counter, where another woman was reading, a smile on her face.

Frit put the book on the counter, and cocked her head to the side, reading the other woman's book's title. "I take it you've got a good there, right? Whats it about?" Frit asked, grinning at the enjoyment the book was giving the other nightmare.

User Image Aurora put her book down when she heard the voice of a custom in her shop, she hadn't been paying attention till she heard a voice asking her what the book she was reading was about. Aurora chuckled and said. "It's a romance about a grimm and a neko it's rather funny, lots of bumpy relationship stuff." Aurora looked the hybrid over they appeared to be a junior. So they might be a bit young for a romance novel but that wasn't really up to Aurora as long as the book was more pg 13 and not way rated R. "So what sort of book are you looking for today?? Adventure? Fantasy? Horror??" (Yea I went there razz )Aurora smiled she really needed to look into getting an illusion in the shop to bring some creatures from the books alive in the shop. That would be amazing!!

User Image Frit brought her hand up to her mouth, thinking a bit. She wanted research material books, in fact she hadn't really read anything in the fantasy, horror, fiction setting at all. Might be worth a try. "Im looking to be a botanist, mainly, so i kinda keep my nose in those sorta books." Frit thought for a second. "But i was going to invite some friends camping next weekend. Kinda hard to study in the dark... and they been complaining i study too much, so do you have any books with good campfire horror stories?" Frit grinned. Her friends had been calling her a bookworm, and antisocial just because she put a lot of time into her studies, but a good horror story to scare their tails off would fix that, wouldn't it? "Something to keep them up all night." Frit grinned, imagining them not sleeping a wink with a scary story in their heads. It was all in good fun, and maybe to get them back for the water bucked on top of the door prank.

User Image Aurora shivered when the hybrid mentioned camping, the last time Aurora had been camping had been when she broke her ankle and had things thrown at her by a certain kumiho. Though Aurora still couldn't bring herself to be too angry they were freshling at the time after all. "Alright." Aurora said as she got up and prepared to help the customer find the right book. "So not funny scary like Scary stories to tell in the twilight." Aurora made a sound as she walked back into the horror section. Aurora pulled an older book from the self to show the hybrid. "There's this one it's a little old, costs more, and then there is.." Aurora moved down a little and pulled off a new book with a collection of spine-tingling tales. "This one is good and doesn't cost a lot of currency." Aurora said offering the two books to the customer. One in paperback and the other old fashion hard back.

User Image "Humm..." Frit looked the two books over. She didn't have that much pocket change, so she was pretty sure she was going to go with the paperback, but the hardcover one looked so professional. Frit loved the hard bound books, and ones that still used thread to hold the pages together. It made them smell more authentic. "Do you have any ideas as to which is "scarier"? If that can be measured. Does the older one's stories have more cultural history to them or something?" The questions started coming, and Frit's curiosity kept them coming. She would have worried about if she was boring the other nightmare, but there were questions on her mind, and she was hungry for answers. "Are the stories in the older book also older? It would be pretty cool to compile "scary stories" from all the other nightmare cultures, see them side by side. Like, is what scares a litch similar to what scares an imp? Is the paperback book full of stories just as old, yet simply copied over to newer parchment? Hum, what culture do you think has the scariest of stories?" Frit paused a second, and gave the woman an apologetic look. She had gone and just rambled on and on. She was supposed to be working on her "social skills"... "Uh, if your not busy of course. Ide love to hear your opinions, if its not keeping you from your own book." Frit reached out for the paperback book. She wanted both, but her allowance only allotted two books for today, and she was certainly not going to put the gardening book back.

User Image Aurora motioned with the older book and said "This one has stories like quote the Cockatriel, and the Telltale clock. And the newer one has more spooky tails of the pop slasher myths. Like the tale of the grimm with the one eye and hook in the forest." Aurora grinned. Aurora thought of the question and said "I suppose it depends on the litch vs the imp, are they the jumpy sort?? Since I'm sure some litches might be scardy cats and some imps are likely very brave, what are your friends like? Are they jumpy or brave? Enjoy old fashion tails or new thriller? The newer one has newer tales from about the last 5 to 10 years." Aurora said this hybrid asked a lot of smart questions, where as many customers came grabbed and didn't really care. It was nice to meet someone who cared about what they were going to read. Aurora laughed and said "No it's been a slow day, so I have time. Well this one was written by a chimera and this one was written by a litch, the author of the older book had a rather sad history that seems to be the inspiration for many of their stories. The newer book the chimera researched a lot of urban myths and wrote stories based off them."

User Image Frit was stuck! This woman was making both books sound really intriguing! If she wanted to go with a book more likely to scare her friends, the modern one sounded good for the crowd of juniors, but the older book had history. Frit liked history, liked looking back and seeing how a story evolved and changed. It would be quite a fun project, to see how horror stories had changed since the first book was written. Frit looked from one book to the other, chewing on her thumb. Finally, the nightmare reached into her pocket, took out her coin purse, and looked at her spending change. She usually set aside a bit of money for little treats throughout the week and such, but she could go one week without such frivolous things, right? In the name of learning? Frit had been holding her breath while she contemplated, and finally she let it out, gulping for air and the books like lifelines. "Oh they are both just too good! Ill take both of them, please!" Frit reached to cuddle the precious pages of words to her chest, as if she had been separated far too long from a proper book. "Just these two... and the gardening book, please."

User Image Aurora smiled she was very glad that someone was thoughtful and loved books that were the reason why she had set up a bookstore. She wasn't a big chain store she was a little real bookstore. Aurora gathered the books and went to ring them up, the paperbacks were priced in copper stars and the older book was priced in a few silver crescents. Aurora told the prices to the hybrid and waited for them to pay her for the books or tell her she didn't have enough and needed to put something back. Which was always possible you never knew who had how much money. "I'm Aurora by the way." She said with a warm smile. "You have great taste is books." She said to be nice. "I hope you and your friends have a great time camping."

User Image Frit pulled out her coin purse and looked inside with a sigh. A moment of internal debate started inside the hybrid's mind, but she already knew who would win, so she took out the coins and placed the full amount on the counter. Frit would be fine without snacks, but would she ever be fine knowing that some book, somewhere, was never going to be read by her, just so she could get an extra bag of chips with her lunch each day? No, certainly not. The girl smiled at the book store owner and nodded. "Its a pleasure to meet you Aurora." Frit responded. Once the transaction was complete she grabbed the books and held them to her chest reverently. The nightmare grinned at Aurora. "Itll be great for me. Depends on how scary these stories are for them." With that, Frit left the store, intent on reading her new treasure chests of words.
