Not sure if this counts as Gothic Metal, or Gothic Rock.

So as of March 5th, HIM is disbanding. On March 5, 2017, HIM announced the band would be disbanding after a farewell tour that same year. In the announcement, Valo stated: "After quarter of a century of love and metal intertwined we sincerely feel HIM has run its unnatural course and adieus must be said in order to make way for sights, scents and sounds yet unexplored. We completed the pattern, solved the puzzle and turned the key. Thank you." Tour dates for the band's farewell tour were also announced, running across Europe and the UK, with US dates to be announced.

Thoughts on this?

Had no idea they were still around. Had a few friends who listened to them way back in high school, but that was about as far as my interest in them went. Good on them for going out on their own terms. But always the chance (risk?) of them falling into the trap of endless reunion tours.

Eh, it's time they moved on anyway. Screamworks was alright, but Tears on Tape seemed void of any heart or soul. They sounded worn out. Hopefully they'll reform later down the road. If not, I guess they're a dead band.

HIM has long since disbanded, but Ville Valo it seems is keeping busy. Weather it be his album with Agents or his solo material, he's making a comeback.

Ville Valo has emerged from the shadows with his upcoming album "Neon Noir" which is slated to be released in early 2023. I myself am highly anticipating this album.

I like how nobody discusses just how alike the singles from Neon Noir sound exactly like HIM. A solo record should be a solo record, not a copy of a now defunct band.

This thread is also ancient but HIM is still relevant. Everyone wants a HIM reunion, but Ville's solo album is basically HIM. Neon Noir deserves some respect.
