Joy was feeling pretty good. Chores were mostly done, POD duty was thankfully switched with someone else, she would be free to finally try out that golem-thinger she'd seen some of the Life Lab people were asking testers for. For now, she was going to go get something to eat because doing anything on an empty stomach tended to result in a snappish Joy.
As she walked in and through the cafeteria, she spotted a familiar face. Name was completely a blank but that was because she never got the woman's name. With a bright smile on her face, Joy headed for the Life Hunter's table. "Hiiii! You helped me save Kai in the Sahara yeah?"

Sherry was spending eating in a distracted sort of way, more picking at her food than not. Her notebook was also on the table, and she was idly re-reading some old notes she'd taken. It wasn't overly important stuff, but something to fill the time. She looked up at the voice, noting a person headed her way. "Oh, yeah," she said, looking at the girl. "That was me! Good to see you again!" Sherry closed her notebook to give the girl her full attention. "I'm Sherry. How are you doing after all that? Any word on our friend Kai?"

"Sherry," she replied with a nod. "No, please join me!" Sherry gestured at the table. "I was just reading up on some notes to pass the time. I'd like the company, actually." She was at this point putting her notebook away, just to emphasize the point. "Food is usually better with company."

Joy grinned, "Hell yeah it does! Thanks!" and quickly headed to get her food. She returned shortly with a tray in her hands and promptly sat down across Sherry. "Would you believe I found it hard to find a lunch group to eat with? Or just people to eat with? Usually they wanna be left alone or got a group going already." Oops, Joy may have unintentionally began to unload some of her frustration.

Sherry smiled as she watched the girl go to get her food. A bit of company would be good, and Joy seemed like a nice girl. She was still smiling when Joy returned. She frowned a little in thought at Joy's words. "Folks can be odd. I mean, I come to the cafeteria to be around other people. Makes no sense why someone would want to be alone, unless they were having a bad day, maybe. Groups though," she paused and shrugged, "well I don't know." She looked at Joy. "Do you come by at the same time every day?"

The Moon trainee made a wobbly hand gesture, "Eeeh, my routine's like not really set. I don't like doing nothing and I'm saving up to move into that housing thing Rep's got going, so I pick up as many duties as I can manage." Because the alternative to that involved paperwork and boy does she hate those tasks the most.
"Ah, for a while." She proceeded to make the sign of the cross, mumbled a quick prayer, before digging into the food. "You got set hours in the caf?" she asked in between mouthfuls.

"I see," Sherry said with a nod. "That housing thing does seem like a good deal, I hope you get into that quick." They'd not had that when she was a trainee, but Sherry also hadn't had to live in the dungeon. She'd heard stories about those rooms. "I'm here a bit later than normal today." She shrugged and took a little bite, thinking. After are few moments she continued. "My routine is fairly usual. I like to help out with shifts and things in the morning and spend my afternoons on my personal work." Perks of being a full hunter - time to devote to specializations and things. "But I like to stop in for lunch or a snack." Sherry took a sip of her water. "You're finding time for training in between all your duties, I hope?" She worried about the young ones. Had to make sure they could handle themselves and such.

Joy nodded, "Got a roomie in mind already, just gotta work out the deets between us." She then grinned at Sherry's concern about training, "Hellz yeah I try to get training done!" she pushed up the sleeve of her clothes until her bicep was visible, along with the numerous old scars, flexing her arm to prove her point. "Gym sched's part of the routine but I lost my usual spotter to the Legacy thing. Working on getting permission and access to the runics, but hinay hinay muna yeah?"
She resumed eating while asking "If you're oks with it, could you be my lunch buddy?"

"Oh, that's good!" Sherry was pleased to hear Joy already had things mostly sorted about the apartment. "Excellent!" Training was very important to survival here. It was good to know Joy was on top of that. Even working on her runic permissions. Great! Sherry wasn't exactly sure what the other gal said when she ended her sentence, but Sherry caught the basic meaning just fine, she though. "Yeah." Sherry had to smile. "I'm okay with that! Lunch buddies!" She took a sip of her drink, spending the moment contemplating what lunch buddies talked about.

Sherry needn't worry about finding something to talk about. Joy was more than willing to babble away until told to shut up. "So you're one of the senior hunters, right? Can I ask how long you've been doing your uh Hunter division duties?"

"You can!" That was a topic Sherry could easily talk about. "I've been in Life about five years now, a bit more, I think. Five and a half, maybe? Been a full Hunter for the past two years or so." She shrugged. "I think it's something like that. That's how long I've been able to focus more on my own projects, at least." She smiled at Joy. "How about you? How long have you been around the island?"

"Couple of years awake but I was podded for a long time," she answered. "Just recently promoted actually." Joy sounded almost proud about that, though the nonchalant shrug she gave made it seem like she didn't feel it was something to celebrate.
"What sorta projects are you working on? Moon's mostly field-stuff and I only recently been doing stuff on the field 'stead of being stuck watching portals."

Sherry nodded. She'd been podded for a bit, too, before starting her new life. "Oh! Grats on your promotion!" Sherry genuinely meant it. It could be tough to move up the ranks sometimes. "Oh, I do field research. Digging around in old ruins and things. Kind of like archeology, but where there are Fear spikes. It's not too exciting most of the time, but I think it's fun." She gave Joy a questioning look. "That's good. It's much nicer out in the field once you are actually allowed to do things." Sherry took a small bite of her food. "What kind of things do they have you doing in the field? You enjoying it?"

Joy beamed at the congratulations and gave a little "Tenchu~" in the times she would intentionally slip into her Tagalog accent. "And field stuffs, well, lately it's just been mission after mission. There was that jungle one, then the desert one, oh and Camp Lucy," she counted off on her fingers, "I got to know Jason on 'em!" she sounded rather happy about this.
