Text from Caelius
Office 10:00 am. Mandatory division assessment and training.

The Death office had undergone quite a drastic renovation post fourteen-year-old apocalypse. Even the furniture that had been a part of the unusual barricade were gone, leaving just the main desk and to the side and adjacent it a few smaller ones. There were chairs that were made to look as uncomfortable as possible lined in neat rows, and each one had a folder on top of it with a self assessment sheet to fill out.

The Death lead himself was still working on a rather extensive map covering almost the entire desk as the last of the few from the meeting filed in. It didn't seem like he was that preoccupied until Mark tried to ask him a question and he answered it before Mark had finished the sentence, though the 'no' to 'why they didn't have chips like the cool people from Sun' was predictable in the least.

Silence. Some small talk from Mark whispering something to an ordinary-looking Hunter with an O tattoo on his neck.

"We will be completing mandatory training before we begin the assessment." it wasn't too clear if Caelius hated the word training or mandatory a little more. "With the division specialists."

Silence.

A sigh as the brown-haired Hunter put up his hand and just stood there. "Hi everyone, I'm Samuel, Sam for short, but not that Sam. My specialization is legacy archiving, that means I specifically deal with recording legacy activity on this island, with a very look do not touch policy. I guess this is where I talk about what a legacy is, so here we go, apologies to anyone who already knows. Think of them all as a ridiculous powerhouses consistently at war with each other. There's seven of them total, and each of them directly relates to Deus in some way, or the creation of, though the archives are all but lost here. What we do know is they are awakening, and if you think of them as massive magnets, their pull is affecting everyone and everything's way of life, forcing people to get dragged all sorts of directions, and in some cases, two or even three directions at the same time."

He took a breath and then continued. "Again, almost all powerful artifacts are a direct cause of legacies. They can manipulate Fear, but only in the same way we manipulate each other. Their power lies in memories, the ability to siphon them and re-purpose them for personal gain. If you check the pamplet in the folder there's a small printout of each legacy and what they do. And if you feel like you've been influenced by one, or any, or several, not including the recent teenage crisis, please come find me and talk to me, it is very important we can archive everything and do as much damage control as possible. Thank you."

Sam nodded, looked at everyone, and then quietly clapped himself before leaning back to the wall while the Death lead just stared blankly at those in the room. "Next specialist, keep it fundamentally information based only, no ******** theories." Apparently someone didn't like speculation, or perhaps was just tired of it. "Then we will begin the actual ******** assessment."

OOC

WELCOME TO THE DEATH DIVISION MEETING

gaia_star [ IF YOU HAVE A SPECIALIZATION ]: Feel free to simply post in A SHOUT POST STYLE explaining fundamentally what it is, what you do, and just some very base information like the above sample. If you are a specialist, your character will have been briefed very quickly by Samuel a week ago explaining that they will need to give some sort of presentation on their specialization. They can bring notebooks, papers, notes, whatever as needed, and do a little quote box for a written section as seen below if they did any printouts.

gaia_star [ IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A SPECIALIZATION BUT ARE A DEATH HUNTER OR ARE 14 ]
- Feel free to listen to the lecture and quote any of the specialists with a question any time (which your character can ask). The specialist responsible will try their best to ICly answer the question.
- Your character can also take notes, all this is IC! Using them, they have a chance to ICly ask the specialists to help/join in or create ideas of what they could do themselves for projects/ observations/ and the likes.

gaia_star [ ENJOY THE LECTURES ] This is a great way to create some IC information dump. AT the end of all the specialists speak, there will be a quick wrapup where the characters can just fill out a form, and/or they can stay to ask more questions/ request their own plot proposals

gaia_star [ LECTURE BONUS ]/b]
- You will get +3 rp points for completing the form at the end
- FREE RAFFLE FOR POSTING
GO HERE

- In addition you will be able to purchase these things for RP points. Once used, these rp points CAN NOT BE USED AGAIN:
- 10 RP points: Request "hands on" training with any of the Death division NPCs. This will set up a PRP where they go on a mission to teach and test skills. (PM Zoobey)
- 25 RP points: Clearance to begin construction and basic supplies/funds of any part of towns for their small business (ie: a hot dog stand, a donut stand, we don't care).
- 50 RP points: Portal compatible laptop (FULL HUNTER ONLY). Your character as long as they are carrying that laptop, can now use the portals OS to request a portal to almost anywhere in the world at any time/location, and as long as the laptop can ping the satellite signal, request a return portal back from any location. This can only be used once per mission for a max of 3 people at a time.
**PORTALS OS MUST BE TIED TO LIGHTHOUSE APPROVAL ON DEUS TO LEAVE**

SAM'S LEGACY LECTURE

ALL HUNTERS WERE GIVEN THIS INFO SHEET ON TOP OF THE LECTURE:

If you feel exposed or know anyone exposed to any of these conditions, please contact me. - Samuel

Legacy of Destruction:
Signs: Highly volatile, red eyes, destructive tendencies, in some extreme cases, cannibalism
Appearance: Butterfly tattoos and markings, usually red
Current danger level on island: Medium.

Legacy of Creation:
Signs: Teenage/ 14 year old symptom (please do not report this, we know), green eyes, sickness, nausea, zombie-like state
Appearance: Transmits through touch/ contact. If you think someone is influenced, don't interact with them.
Current danger level on island: Neutralized.

Legacy of Grief:
Signs: N/A
Appearance: White crystals, white stone, flat marble
Current danger level on island: N/A. Carrying excess will result in deterioration of current memories - DO NOT CARRY/USE IN EXCESS.

Legacy of Protection:
Signs: Blue sword, chains, weapons/ etc with blue crystals.
Appearance: Was once known as Excalibur. While considered a 'good' legacy, accepting too much of its power, like anything else, will result in deterioration of current memories and in a potentially fatal loss of self.
Current danger level on island: Minimal

Legacy of Revenge:
Signs: ???
Appearance: Was once known as Merlin. Claimed sightings/influences in Halloween. Extremely dangerous, do not approach. Can also create clones of anyone, the only way to discover if someone has been cloned is through them summoning their weapon. Great dislike of Hunters.
Current danger level on island: Medium-high (ALWAYS A RISK TO HAVE ANY)

Legacy of Pride:
Signs: ???
Appearance: Manifests itself most commonly in artifacts that always take a gold colour/tinge. They are called 'command' or 'voice' artifacts, and using too much of one, like any legacy, will result in deterioration of current memories and in a potentially fatal loss of self.
Current danger level on island: Low

Legacy of Reflection:
Signs: Mirrors, doors
Appearance: This is considered a dormant legacy. More information about this will require higher clearance (talk to me if you wish to discuss this and are a full cleared Hunter).
Current danger level on island: Low

Rep shrugged and stood up, still very much a woman and dressed accordingly. "No theories then boss."

He'd prepared by typing up a quick bullet pointed list of information about various extreme environments and what to bear in mind with them as they applied to hunters.

"The major sit is learning the extent of our shields, they'll dampen the impact of extreme heat or cold to protect our survival but they won't negate all of it, it also varies depending on the species of your weapon and your bond with them. Learn that s**t because one day it might save your life. Horsemen favour various extremes, Desert, Jungle, Snow and Ice. You'll see them mostly in these sorts of regions, very much in their element. Fighting in these places is way ******** harder than usual, anyone who has tried running on the beach here can appreciate what running in the desert must be like, same with snow. I've highlighted some major s**t on the sheets but if anyone wants to go on a day trip or something to one of the mentioned climates, I can come along and point s**t out that might be of interest. Remember though at all times, our shields can't give us water, so always bring some with you, or if you can, get some sort of artifact that can help you out." he went on for a bit, elaborating a little further on basic survival tips before realising he was probably talking too much. "In short, any issues, come speak to me, any good ideas you yourself have come up with, also come speak to me."

He shrugged. "As far as the current threats like. I'd say act as if everything weird you meet is a demon trying to charm away your soul. Don't invite them in, don't accept their "help", don't trust anything if you don't want your life to end up completely ******** up or worse.

It seems that some of the legacies are susceptible to others. The white stones mentioned in the list you guys have can sometimes be used to limit destruction and er...destruction can sometimes limit creation but don't trust it, it's a really ******** dangerous legacy. Don't ever like, assume you can handle it if no one else has been able to, communicate s**t you see, this can be the difference between life or death."

Snorting, he tossed his hair. "Though I know this ******** division like, if you are absolutely ******** going to touch a goddamn dangerous ******** artifact, at least have the decency to make sure your body is left in a dissectable state. Optimally my best survival tip and legacy tip that I can give is DON'T TOUCH OPEN OR ******** BREAK THE ******** THING, WHATEVER THAT THING MAY BE."

Note
If anyone wants a short mission out to wherever with their char + rep, just let me know and/or make an rp and quote me and we can do the thing.

Lucky visibly flinched at Rep's final survival tip, and looked very guilty for a moment before he buried his face in his notes.

Rodney came to the meeting. It was good to have a distraction.

He had a small binder, and a pen for notes.

He had been on the island for...well, a while at this point, with no career advances, but...no major incidences either. It was okay, for what it was. He listened and rotely recorded Samuel and Rep's information.

As long as he didn't have to talk to anyone, he wouldn't end up crying.

Once Rep had sat down again, Lucky realized it was his turn to speak. He gathered an armful of papers and stood up next. He looked like no amount of time in the world could have prepared him to talk to entire division.

“My name is - you can call me Lucky, I specialize in -” He shuffled the papers in his hands around uncertainly “Information about Ouroboros.”

“Ouroboros is... a rogue organization made up of a combination of rogue hunters and - um - armed civilians. They have breached the island’s defenses multiple times and are considered B-class hostiles in any location. If they are not undercover, their uniforms are always grey, and their runic weapons and technology always have red runes. Members of the organization can also be identified by a tattoo of a plain circle somewhere on their body --”

It was not hard at this point to really notice that Lucky had one on his hand, and Samuel had one on his neck. Lucky shot Samuel an apologetic look before diving back into it.

“Their current leader goes by the name Charlotte. She looks like the former moon division assistant. The one that, uh, vanished under strange circumstances after one of the more serious defense breaches... I’ve included some identifying information in the handout. She is extremely dangerous. Do not - do not approach her or talk to her under any circumstances, get away and notify me immediately.” Lucky looked serious, if nervous. “I’m not joking. She can and will kill you if you’re not prepared.”

“Most of the information on their whereabouts and activities is, uh, classified,” he explained, fanning out a few extremely redacted mission reports for everyone to see. “If you don’t need to know, you, uh, you won’t know. Remember what I said about rogue hunters? Yeah. For everyone’s safety that’s all I can tell you.”

He looked over at Mark and Samuel for some kind of signal that he hadn’t gone on too long already. The gestures they were making were a little confusing.

“Oh - I’ve got some more information here if you want to know more, and uh, if you want to talk about it, my door’s always open - well, I don’t have a door, or an office, but you can text me?”

And with that, he quickly sat down.

INFO PACKET ON OUROBOROS
The packet starts with a few plain-looking circle icons, excepting one that is an actual ouroboros in green. The icons are all listed as former logos of the organization.

It is followed by several photos of circle tattoos, usually on the underside of the wrist, the hand, or the forearm. The branding looks identical to the one on Samuel’s neck and Lucky’s hand.

There are a few poorly-taken photos of people wearing grey coats that somewhat resemble hunter jackets blending in with crowds in what appears to be major cities.

There is a signle picture of a runic dagger that seems to be powered by red runes instead of blue. The design is similar but different in comparison to the usual Deus variety. It is otherwise unremarkable.

Finally, there is a single page with a picture of Charlotte, that looks like it was taken on a recon mission as she is not facing the camera. She has curly blonde hair and is wearing a very expensive jacket, scarf, and shoes. There are a few notes below it:

NAME: Charlotte
HUNTER STATUS: Revoked
WEAPON: Tuning Fork Sword
NOTES: B-class Hostile Entity, Do Not Engage Without Clearance

Note
If your hunter has had any Ouroboros sightings, or wants to start having them, quote me if they want to get Lucky's attention during the meeting and we can figure something out!

Lucky will not take trainee hunters out on any Ouroboros-related missions due to the danger level. Intermediate is okay though.

Gretchen had been sitting quietly, folder and notes open across her lap, but she'd frown as Lucky concluded his bit, head tilting slightly to one side as she looked between him and Samuel, and then back again. After a moment of unsure lower lip chewing, she'd get to her feet, hand slightly raised, as if she weren't entirely sure she was allowed to ask questions yet.

"Um, just a quick question, but," she pointed a finger from the lifted hand at Luck and Samuel. "Who all, if anyone else, should we be discounting that circle mark for?" It'd been fairly hard to miss the brands.

"You said that was one of the identifiers, yeah? But you both have them, and since you're up there talkin' to us, I'm assuming you're not a part of this rogue group." Her voice, while loud enough to be heard, seemed hesitant, though curious.

Solia at any social event was Solia smiling like someone had given her a gift and it held a brand new puppy. Complete and utter optimism and undeterred happiness. Something that hardly matched the fact that she still, going on two years now, looked like she'd spent far too long sleep deprived and dark circles had taken a permanent residency on her face.

A small clipboard with several papers tagged with various colors of sticky notes, (all with various floral motifs), she sat in her chair, eyes wandering around the room and writing away about what she saw. Most of her notes appearing semi-nonsensical by the way of how she noticed a chair on the far left was missing a foot, how Caelius's hair was looking a bit less shiny than normal, and how they really should invest in better lighting because it was terrible for photos.

So far into this meeting, she'd listened and for the most part just nodded and waited.
PostPosted: Mon Mar 06, 2017 4:58 pm

Standing up once Lucky was finished, Gale made his way to the front of the room, a clipboard in one hand and a folder in the other, stacked with papers. As he laid them down on the desk, his sleeve shifted up, revealing a matching, black circular O tattoo on the inside of his left wrist that was identical to both Lucky and Samuel's, though slightly more discrete than the ones on the pair of them.

"My name is Gale Gentry," he said calmly. "I've been a Hunter with the Death Division for the last six years and my specialization lies in Artifacts, more specifically in the case of Artifact Retrieval."

He cast a sideways glance at Rep, a slight note of exasperation in his voice as Gale continued.

"As, er...Rep has already, er, gently indicated - if you stumble upon an artifact, do not touch it or attempt to retrieve it without the proper training and information, as well as as much history as you can get beforehand. There are different rankings of artifacts, depending on both their abilities and their strength. Lower class artifacts are known as C or D Class while the more dangerous artifacts are B and A."

He took a breath.

"Please understand that the majority of artifacts require a lot of study and forethought before simply attempting to go out and retrieve them. No one should simply run off to get themselves one without the proper training or research. Some of them have barriers or problems that lead to serious injury; many are extremely protected and require a great amount of skill and caution to retrieve. However, we continue to search them out because, left on their own, they can do serious harm to others. Please remember not to touch them without proper consideration."

Gale studiously avoided Rep's eye during this last sentence, coughed, and held up a folder.

"If you would like more information on current artifacts and how they tie in with both Ouroboros and the Legacies which Samuel and Lucky have spoken of, please do let me know, and I'll do my best to help."

Jake was too preoccupied with more... "pressing matters" to wonder why the island was suddenly overrun with TINY CHILDREN, but now that he was no longer in danger of dying for the 28th time, he did... kind of wonder.

But that also was the least of the worries as the dreaded "MANDATORY DIVISION MEETING" was upon them once more, and.... oh ******** totally didn't forget what he specialized in, much less had actual stuff to show for it.

We are going to die.

While he showed up at the meeting, he tried his very best to blend in. And hide. Against the wall. In a corner.
Maybe Caelius wouldn't notice him and think he died.

After Gale finished his presentation, the Death lead turned to look directly at Jake.

The petite Asian settled herself in a seat in the first few rows knowing how much the leader stressed punctuality. She looked short even among the teenager hunters and almost absorbed into the chair. It was the regular division meeting again, and this time it was a bit special since she was recently promoted.

She'd greeted several familiar faces with her best enthusiasm and left everyone with some snacks and candies before Cael began, hoping it would help them not to get too nervous. The first one up was Samuel, her new friend. She waved excitedly at him when their leader wasn't looking and couldn't help to move her eyes towards a certain long name hunter when Samuel mentioned the do-not-touch policy. Rather than jotting notes on her little pink notebook, she was doodling and making notes on the information sheet at the same time she recalled events occured in the past.

Cupped up her head with hands when it was Rep's turn, she mused the jungles and snowy cold regions she'd never been to. Slightly amazed by the female appearance of the hunter, her eyes dilated widely for a few seconds. Together with her advice, she wrote points besides the legacies on the sheet.

Since the next one was Mimsy's brother, she gave extra attention for him as moral support. Always known as #the guy being dropped from helicopter, #Mimsy's brother, #guy who loves to touch things, Shu didn't actually know much about him. She opened the packet as Lucky began to speak, and quickly she realized it was the people she and Samuel encountered. Even worse, Shu and Carl had unintentionally met the organization's leader in a happenstance. Hearing what Lucky said, she felt guilty about the delivery and wondered what would had happened if they agreed to have tea with Charlotte. Shu's heart skipped a beat.

Right after he finished with that question, Lucky would receive a text from Shu.
xMolten Tigrex
Text from Shu:
I might accidentally talk to this woman......Do you know what'll happen if you go for a tea time with her?

Gale's words were on-the-point and quick, Shu nodded sagely as he went on and got a new idea how idle artifacts could do harms, small or big. He was one of the Death senpais she met since she was a newbie and she hoped she would do her job as awesome as him in the future.

She looked around for the next one to go after the big three, but she waited for a while and no one stepped out. Dead air prevailed and the atmosphere became awkward. She took a deep breath and stood up, moving onto the stage.

------------------------------------ Division line for the actually introduction ------------------------------------

"Hello everyone, My name's Dong Shu Lei, many people call me Shu." Standing in front of the stage was a petite girl with strong Asian features, shorter one might have difficulty seeing her face. When spotted in the crowd, one might mistake her as a young kid. The speaker was dressing in a white lace blouse with a simple plain black pinafore and hair tied into a neat high ponytail.

The big honey eyes gave all hunters a glance before she continued. "In short, my specialization's quite different from the rest. It's all about communication. As some of you might know, besides this headquarters, the organization had set up branches all over the world. To facilitate our work, maintaining good relationships with different branches by effective communication is almost a must." She pressed a hand against herself, "Because of my ability to speak in both English and Chinese, I had the honour to be assigned as the negotiator of the Beijing branch and helped the headquarter to communicate with them. Oh forget to mention I'm also fluent in Japanese."

"In some Chinese regions, um - people are quite conservative and don't accept foreigners easily and there're taboos you'd pay attention to not to upset them either. A point to note is that information's precious asset, people only give information to those they like or trust to be reliable. In cases you're interested in culture stuff like that or you need to be in any of the Chinese branches a while for certain reason, you can talk to me. In addition, if you have any mission carried out in the regions mentioned above and need a translator or something, please feel free to approach me anytime after the meeting. I'm pretty new to specialization, so share you wisdom with me? Thank you for your attention."

Shu ended her words with a bright smile, returned to her seat and awaited for the next hunter.

<...Jake you said that out loud.>
..........................
Oh god he was going to ********, think, think!!
What the ******** was his specialization again...

Thankfully, another hunter spoke up, giving him time to come up with some bullshit-but-hopefully-sorta-convincing speech,
God, why couldn't he remember???!?!
He accidentally touched his left eye by accident, flinching when his eyelid dipped in. Oh right, his eye...
That horseman....
... horsemen...?

Having only caught the end bit of Lucky's explanation, it didn't really help as... he hadn't been extremely invested in the whole conspiracy s**t (nor had he cared), but Gale's, hmm... maybe... this could work...

"I..."
His voice cracked, and he straightened up, clearing his throat.
"Jake Cross, Death Division. Uh."
Jake scratched his cheek nervously.

"I had... led a mission with several other hunters, and during that mission we came across several horsemen. One of which was... already deceased, but through the power of a certain fragment, it had the power to re-animate the dead. As well, it had the power to... control weak-willed hunters. Our mission was to retrieve the fragment, but because of.... my short-comings, the mission had failed."

He swallowed.
"In an attempt to make up for my incompetence, I offered to lead another mission solely for tracking down these fragments, as if they fell into horsemen hands, we would be in grave danger. But..."
Jake wasn't quite sure what to say, as it had been solely his fault we hadn't.... actually DONE what he said.
"But... despite being a full hunter, I was still too green, and for the sake of not putting more lives in jeopardy, I decided I needed to prepare myself further to prevent... potential casualties."

... that was all, right?

Oh ******** right he was supposed to actually DO something about said incompetence.

"Um, similar to what Gale said, since we don't have enough information on these fragments, it's ill-advised for anyone of weak mental fortitude or lack of physical training to seek these fragments out, since there could be other potential side-effects we're unaware of, and... I would dare-say they can... possibly fall under the category of artifacts?"
Jake side-glanced at Gale, hoping the small hunter didn't mind he was piggy-backing off his findings.
Help me out bro.

"BUT since we as Death Division specialize in seeking answers to questions and making the unknown known, I will make it my duty to attempt to bridge the gap in the missing information. If anyone should wish to know more, you're free to ask, but please know my info is EXTREMELY limited, as we haven't... really had further encounters with said fragments lately.
As well, due to the nature of horsemen and... the fact that their bloodlust greatly outweighs those of more hostile Halloween creatures, I'd ask that if a team were to be formed to seek and retrieve these fragments again, that it be limited to full hunters ONLY."

Once he finished, he exhaled a sigh of relief.
Good enough, right?

Lin accepted the informational materials and looked over them, then listened quietly and intently to the presenters. There was a level of tension in the air that suggested that this division held high expectations of its assigned hunters. She had barely any experience and no rank, and did not expect to speak during this meeting, but she could be attentive and take notes. That was a good first step towards potential success.

Kostya stared at the extra handout sheet, grimacing. Samuel was not a name he recognized, nor was he sure how...safe they were, in comparison to Caelius. Or Mark, even, who was his own sort of danger.

Gretchen's question received an odd look, as Lucky reshuffled his papers rather than answer immediately.

"Er - you can discount us, if that's what you mean." He made a vaguely spiral gesture with one hand. "The, uh, defecting from an organization thing goes both ways."

"Look, the identifier stuff is more for... you know, when you're out on missions. It's situational. If you see someone with it here, they're, uh -"

Lucky looked over at Caelius for a fraction of a second, as if looking for either permission or forgiveness.

"Well-documented."
