During this event, we will follow the riddle-clues to locations. There we will be searching for rune stones. I will post the location and a description of the area, as well as a photo to help guide the rp. Those participating should rp looking wherever they hope to find the runes, as well as any other goodies. There will be other things to find as well!

I will be coming in and posting if someone finds something where they have looked or been! So keep a sharp eye out!

Each riddle will be about the general and specific location of the rune stones. Do your best, be imaginative, and just have fun!

UPDATES

A map was found! The adventure has begun!

1st Location - Several suggestions were made to where the map's first riddle pointed, and Tal had an idea where it might be. The group has prepared and traveled to the area.

Blade found a tiny blue flower!
Celestia found a strange herb!
Blue found an odd root!

Blade found a runestone in a tree in the joint of a branch and the trunk!
User Image

So that's what that riddle meant!

2nd Location - One of Tal's wolves knew where the second riddle led them.

Pixie found a delicate blossom!

Celestia found the second runestone hidden within a boulder pile. Those are some BIG veggies!
User Image

3rd Location - The third riddle indicated some man-made structure. Talencia remembered Wolfie telling her of a shack Mr. Hill liked to retreat to. What will they find there?

HOW IT BEGAN

Wolfie Duke
Wolfie looked confussed for a moment with the bombarding of questions. "Yes, this place used to belong to my Great Aunt Beatrice. Its old and it has lots of secrets. Seems to me that the secrets of the trunk might be something worth looking into." She sat on the floor and thumbed the picture frame.

As if on cue, something tumbled out from between the old photo and the cardboard backing. At first Wolfie assumed it was just a piece of parchment to absorb all the old must and such. But then, she noted, it seemed to have something written on it. With a strange look of confussion, she set the frame down next to her and curled her legs up on the floor.

With a gentle touch, she picked up the paper. It was thin, and light as a feather with a texture such as a natural parchment. Old. Very old indeed. It looked quite similar to that of the letter Bea had left in the desk in the hall. Perhaps it had something to do with it? Things were falling into place. Letter...key...trunk...paper...

Shaking out the piece of parchement, Wolfie instantly came alert. "A MAP!" Wolfie shouted, startling the pups around her as well as many of the owners. "It looks like a map!" Wolfie blundered something inaudible as she scanned over the piece quickly. "Its of the woods outside. Theres a lot of scribblings all over this thing but if you give me a second I might be able to decifer them. Its definitely NOT my aunts writting."

Wolfie pointed at something on the map. "If I wasnt so daft at things going on around here, I would say these look like symbols of some sort." She sketched her fingers over a few. Wolfie leaned her head into Tals in hopes the two of them could figure out what this meant.

"Do you think the moonlits understand what this is? I mean, this is definitely not like any map Ive ever seen." With an inhaled whiff, Wolfie covered her nose. "And it smells fishy. I bet whoever wrote this perhaps wrote with fishbone and squid ink or somesuch. Whoknows with them-folk" Wolfie replied with a disgusted huff. "might explain the scrawlieness of things"

Talencia
"Well, let's start over.... here. That does sort of look like a house... I think." Tal squinted at the map uncertainly. "Let me try and read this here near the house.... thing." Tal took one edge of the map to draw it nearer to her.

"Broken teeth?" she repeated, looking up at the others. "What in the world could that mean?" She frowned in thought, looking again at it.

Wolfie Duke
"If the drawing, if you can call it that," She began "shows a house, perhaps what we are looking for isnt inside here." Wolfie stood up and looked around for her coat and scarf.

Finding them hanging over the back of the couch she also retrieved her backpack, whose contents were now in a secret place inside her bedroom. With it empty, it was so much lighter. A whistle later and all her Moonlits assembled.

"Lets go on an adventure!" She shouted almost too merrily. Perhaps the lack of sleep was really getting to her. Who could tell at this point? With a glance to Talencia she cocked her head to the side. "Do you think we should bring the journal and the compass Tal? I find it odd they were all sorta together."

When Blade had suggested a fence, Tal's eyes lit up. "Yes! I know of an ancient old fence... it's only half there." She prodded Wolfie and pointed out the direction she remembered it being. "Remember? Out beside that footpath that skirts the forest?"

It wasn't long before the group was capering along that very footpath. The area on the left was heavily forested, shadowed and cool green. A row of logs jutted up from the earth, each standing alone from the other. Rotted pieces of board could be seen here and there amongst the leaf litter.

To the right of the dirt path was a slow rising slope of a hillside. Rocks had been settled against it long ago, to shore it up from eroding the path away during the rainy season. All sorts of things were tucked in the nooks and crannies of the large rocks.

Tal stopped and gazed thoughtfully at the old evidence of a fence. "Well, that does look like broken teeth to me, at least. Now, what would the rest mean?" She peered at the map, which Wolfie was carefully holding. "Find a niche if you look about..... climb to peek and then to shout?" She looked up at the others, clearly baffled.

"Well, let's see if we can find whatever it is we are looking for!" Gamely, she began to poke around the rocks nearest the path's edge.

Blade paused as they found the somewhat broken fence. While Tal went off by the rocks, he walked over to the fence to see if there was anything there. As he went nearer to it, he noticed the holes in the post where the railings of the fence used to be.

Although it seemed unlikely that those would be the 'niches' that they were to search for, he figured it wouldn't hurt to try looking there anyway.

So he stopped by the closest one and took a glance into the small openings in the wood while crouching down.

As he did, Jade decided to hop off of his shoulder and into the nearest hole. Being so small, she fitted inside easily. Giving a few small peeps, both heads looked around the interior.

Grinning at the little chicklet, Blade thought of how useful she could be as a lookout or something like that.

Yuki was walking a little faster than usual, trying to catch up with the group. Every once in a while, she turned around and checked up on Hakana, who seemed to not be in any hurry. She caught up with the other just in time to hear Tal receit the end of the riddle. 'Hmm...' "Climb to peek?" She glanced around. The only things she could think of that would be climbable would be a tree or the rocky hill.

She bypassed Blade and his new chicklet and stopped at the rocky hill, next to Tal. "Maybe after we find this "niche" we have to climb this hill...or maybe a tree." She glanced behind her and groaned to herself. Those trees didn't look easy to climb, so she hoped it was the hill.

Wolfie spread out from the others. Although the riddle was interesting, finding the tiny white bird seemed more important at the moment. She looked over her shoulder at Blade and noted that the closer they got to the woods, the less snow there was. After concideration, Wolfie realized that the snow couldnt fall as well there because of the trees, so it would not have been as deep.

She slushed around the path listening for the tell-tale cheeps. The sun had been to this side of the Estate first, so what little snow there was remained only a bit of slush and mud. It was better to find the albino chicklet this way.

((I hope the owner of this chicklet doesnt mind me borrowing it for a while sweatdrop I needed an excuse to get everyone outside. If you are the owner, Feel free to 'find it' for me at any time))

Indy left Blue behind and ran to the group. Blue stood still for a minute, watching Indy run away from her. "Figures." she said to herself. Just then something bumped into her. Blue jumped and turned around to see Hana, her other moonlit, standing there. "You need to warn me when you are coming. You're just to quiet." Blue said to Hana. Hana gave her a look that said sorry. Hana began to walk in the direction of the group. Blue nodded and began to run towards the group. Hana followed and as she ran there was no sound of her running through the melting snow. Indy caught up to the group and sat down waiting for Blue. Blue and Hana came running up to the group. Blue put her hands on her knees and tried to catch her breath. "What did I miss?" Blue gasped. Indy began to snicker at Blue. Hana walk up to him and shoved him. Indy looked at her and thought, "Why did you do that?" Hana turned from him and walked to the winded Blue.

Celestia breathlessly paused at the broken fence. She glanced around, unable to find anyone else. "Oh boy... I think I just got myself lost..."

Rei squirmed around until he jumped out of the opening in Celestia's coat. He sniffed the air a few times and took off. "Rei!" shouted Celestia. It would be difficult for her to find her pup, especially when he's a pale puppy blending in with the snow.

The dark coat flared out as Celestia dashed in the direction where she hoped Rei ran off to. "Rei! Rei! Where ARE you?!" she shouted into the chilling wind. She coughed as the frigid air burned down her throat.

A yip broke through the cold air. She hurried toward the sound and slipped on ice. She slid down what seemed to be a frozen path. Her adrenline-pumped mind slowly registered large icicles rushing up to her. She quickly raised her arms to protect her face and kicked out. Numbed pain shot up her leg as she broke the icicles. Skidding to a stop, Celestia slowly lowered her arm and opened her eyes.

Reioseiga ran up to his owner and licked her face and barked frantically. She slowly rolled to her side and hugged the moonlit close. "Never do that again... Never..." she murmured into the comforting fur. Getting up, she turned around to survey her surroundings.

Large stalagmites and stalactites grew from the ceiling and ground in the cavern. Nearby an underground stream burbled happily as it flowed and meandered beyond Celestia's sight. When she turned away from her rather unexpected entrance, she could see a small opening in the wall. Hoping it would take them back outside, Celestia and Rei began to walk through the labyrinth of a cavern.

The old fenceposts truly did have lovely small holes in each of them. The rotted boards below used to fit into them. Now, these holes held years of dirt and soil, watered by blowing rain, and seeded by whatever was carried on the wind. Within the paricular hole that Jade had hopped into, a tiny blue flower grew. The head nearest the delicate plant carefully pulled it's roots out of the built-up soil and poked out. Jade cheeped at Blade for him to take the very small plant.

Talencia had not found anything helpful among the rocks, and so wandered back over to the wood's edge. Spotting the chicklet with the tiny plant, she commented to Blade, "You know, you should tuck that somewhere. Moosey is very fond of using these native plants and herbs in her potions. She might be grateful for the things we find! Keep it and show it to her when we get back to the house!"

She raised her voice to call to the rest. "If you find any interesting plants, keep them! Moosey is sure to love what we manage to find!"

Her voice echoed to Celestia and Reioseiga in the cavern. As they wandered through the chilly darkness, an unevenness in the rock floor tripped them up. They escaped any real harm, but came face to face with a very odd plant. It grew up from some leaf litter than had collected in cup in the rock. It gleamed palely in a stray shaft of sunlight that found it's way through the stone formations above. It was easy to loosen out of it's natural pot, and wasn't too big to tuck into a pack or pocket.

Talencia then began to look up thoughtfully. "Wouldn't we need to go up to climb?" She strolled into the forest, still looking up. "I wonder?" Morgana, who had chased after them in their mad dash out of the house, followed her closely, tail wagging and tongue lolling at the taste of adventure in the air.

"What a strange plant..." Celestia remarked as she gently loosened the plant from the cup. Rei gave a small bark and wagged his tail, proud to have helped find such an interesting item.

As Celestia tucked the plant into her coat pocket, she heard it. It sounded curiously like a puppy's whine. Looking at Rei, she thought, 'Is that him? But it sounds like it's bouncing off the walls... An echo...' Rei's ear perked up again as another whine reached their ears.

Crouching down, careful not to crush the plant, Celestia asked, "Hey, wanna find out where it's coming from?" Rei barked excitedly and jumped up and down. Laughing, she said, "All right! Let's find 'em!"

Saying and actually trying to hunt down the source of the sound was harder than Celestia originally thought. They came to many dead ends or loops that returned them to a place they've already been too. Rei growled softly in irritation. They had come back to where they originally entered the cavern.

"This place ... is ... impossible! But totally fun if we were doing this on purpose..." Celestia commented drily, "Maybe we can come back and map this place out and use it as a place to play around... At least the flat area..." Rei scrambled to his feet when Celestia slowly made her way to get a drink from the stream. Cupping her hands, she lifted out the cold water. Rei lapped happily as the cool, refreshing water slid down their throats.

To their surprise, a single red orchid floated down the stream. Celestia and Rei looked at each other in wonder. They surged to their feet and began running towards the source of the stream.

Rei and Celestia entered another room filled with the same red orchids as the one that passed them by. The stream encircled the room and left a small opening towards the center where the most of the flowers were located. Rei ran towards the center and sniffed one of the orchids. The pollen tickled his nose and he let out a sneeze. Laughing at the bewildered look on his face, Celestia trailed after him.

'Now, where were those noises coming from?' Celestia continued to wonder. As if hearing her thoughts, Rei entered the field of orchids to search. Celestia shifted through the field, trying to find both her own puppy and what she hoped to be only another puppy. 'Well, they did say, "Curiousity killed the cat"...' she thought cynically. A voice from the back of her mind argued, '-"And satisfaction brought it back" stop forgetting the second part!' Lost in her thoughts, she was surprised when she came face to face with another moonlit. Before it could scramble away, Celestia lifted it and placed her lap.

This particular moonlit, a female (as Celestia found when she checked), had a beautiful dark red coat. Curiously enough, the markings were of flowers, not unlike the ones surrounding them. Cooing to the infant, Celestia called, "Rei! Come here! I found her!" She ran her fingers through the rich coat and cuddled the puppy. The puppy cautiously licked Celestia and nuzzled against her. "Such a cutie... Now, we need a name... How about... Ran?" Celestia said, translating orchid into Japanese. The scarlet moonlit tilted her head and crinkled her nose. "Okay, perhaps not..." Celestia murmured. She recalled a character from a book she read. Although the author didn't touch on her much, the name struck a chord in Celestia. "Hisana?" The moonlit again tilted her head and practically wiggled in joy.

Rei barked rather loudly twice. When Celestia looked up, she could see a small opening leading outside. It seems that when they first entered, they were too befuddled to notice. She lifted Hisana up in her arms, maybe Wolfie would like to see her. She went through the open and was temporarily blinded by the sudden onslaught of sunshine.

When Celestia's eyes adjusted, she was in a forest area. Turning around the clearing, she could see the smoke from the chimney of the house. Actually, they were pretty close to the house! Celestia and Rei gradually made their way back to the house with the new moonlit, Hisana.

Glancing at the small plant once, Blade then nodded to Tal. Carefully taking it from Jade's beak, he placed it into his pocket where it hopefully wouldn't get crushed later on.

"Nice find there Jade."

After the small bird chirped happily, she hopped out of the small hole and into his hand. Grinning somewhat, her owner stood up and placed her back onto his shoulder for the time being.

For a moment, he thought about checking every single hole in the fence posts, but decided against that.

So instead, Blade stepped out into the wooded areas closest to the fence to see if there were any niches or places where he could climb up. He looked around the trees, and up at their higher branches. And when he got to one of the trees that was a little easier to climb, he started to scale up it.

Stopping at a branch that was about halfway up the height of the tree, he looked around at the surrounding area, hoping that he could find something with his higher vantage point.

Yuki kicked a few rocks around, not really sure what she was looking for. All she ended up accomplishing was dislodging some rocks and send them rolling down the hill. She looked into the woods curiously and patted Hakana's head, a signal to follow.

They walked into the woods and glanced from tree to tree. Nothing seemed...out of order? "Com'on Kana, Kei." Hakana followed obediently, but Keiran simply huffed and sat his butt down right in the center of the path, but Yuki didn't really seem to care.

They walked a little further until Hakana barked happily and barreled over to a tree, putting her paw up and looking back at Yuki. "Good girl! You found...and owl hole?" She was answered with a short bark. "Oh! A niche?" Excitedly, Yuki jogged over and peeked in. An unhappy squirrel screached at her. "Ahh!" She jumped back, but slipped on a nearby slope and slid down.

Hakana met her calmly at the bottom, but didn't really bother with her. Something seemed to have caught her attention instead. "Thanks for the help Kanny..." Yuki sat up and brushed herself off. "I could...what have you got there."

Hakan pulled her head out of a hollowed log, with a small spotted pup in her mouth. "Aww." Yuki held her arms out and Hakana placed the pup in them. "Lets take him back to the others." They both headed back to the main path. "Hey guys!" Yuki held up her new pup a little. "Look who I found in the woods."
