██████ ▻Evelyn’s mother was a witch, so she assumed for many years. Evelyn would often catch glimpses of her mother performing strange rituals in her bedroom or in the garden when she was growing up, Saying words of poetry that Eve didn’t understand. She would often spend nights away from home and come back in the morning exhausted wearing strange clothes. Eve’s father, Steven, had always picked her up and told her than they would ‘tell her when she was older’ which of course Evelyn was particularly annoyed about. She was even more infuriated when she was told she couldn’t tell anyone what she saw. Of course, after some bribery and threats, Evelyn was quiet.
When she turned fifteen, Evelyn noticed strange things happening. If she desired a yoghurt, one would simply appear right in front of her. If she wanted the door open, it would open. At first Evelyn thought she was being haunted by a particularly helpful yet terrifying ghost, but soon her parents decided it was time to tell their teenage daughter the truth. Evelyn’s mother, Teresa, had been born with special abilities. Though limited they were powerful and enhanced her ability to do extraordinary things. When Evelyn had been born, they had known she would be special just like her mother, something called a Homo-magi. Due to their hope that she was magic like her mother, they had always refused for the doctors in the hospital to test her blood when she needed- out of fear they would see something wrong with their daughter.
Teresa started teaching Evelyn the basics. Telekinesis was the easiest, moving objects with her mind. Teleportation was the most difficult, the first few attempts resulted in half of her body in the living room and the other in her bedroom. She had thankfully reversed the spell quickly enough. Evelyn soon learned that her mother was using her abilities to fight crime within her city, San- Francisco’s very own secret vigilante, for she rarely showed her face. Evelyn wanted to help, though her mother believed it was too dangerous. When choosing a university, Eve was careful to pick the one in the most dangerous city in America, much to her parents annoyance. She wanted to use her abilities for good not hide them.
