The pride's story begins with a young hybrid. She was born to a pride of ninjas. Something happened while she was just a juvenile; the pride and her family faded away into the night. She was left alone, leaving the young hybrid alone to make her way with her serval companion. The hybrid’s name was Najwa-Shula.
As she grew toward adulthood, with the help of her serval companion she taught herself to survive. Against the odds, Najwa-Shula lived. For a time she was content with her life in the dark with Miyako. She drifted through the shadows like a ghost. From the shadows she watched others and their families. Faint memories of her own family stirred slowly within her chest. She felt herself longing for something and not really understanding what.
A chance encounter with a pair of servals, a mother-daughter duo, opened her eyes to the fact that she missed her family. Since she had no idea where her physical family was, she decided to make one of her own. After some time, Najwa-Shula came to the realization that hybrids couldn’t have cubs.
If she couldn’t have her own family, she would start a broader family. She would look for loners and rogues who were attracted to the same ideals that she was, and they would become her new family. Through them Najwa-Shula intended to build a small, close family for them all.
Several years quietly passed as she worked tirelessly toward her goal. Najwa-Shula searched out those who were attracted to and felt comfortable in the night. She did her best to weed out any evil individuals by watching the potential over several nights for their deeds; but evil lurks in the deepest of hearts and knows many guises. Her recruitment was only by word of mouth to one or two. This would be a secretive pride and she would move slowly.
Besides members, she would need a home for her pride to be. Ideally it would be a place that would protect and hide them from all outsiders. With her faithful companion, Miyako, the duo searched and searched. Many places she did look before at last finding what she wanted. Najwa-Shula had found protected forest surrounded by high mountains on most sides. Within the valley of these mountains was a deep dense forest that was full of mists.
To this place she brought her chosen. To these rules she gave them. Move in darkness and let the mists protect. Bond with a companion familiar. Let only those comfortable in the dark join. Let none know we exist and move in secret.
The shadows now whisper and hide a group who has mastered them. A young pride doesn't have much history. They create it.

Through her life, Najwa-Shula has had one constant. Her familiar Miyako has always been by her side. She wishes for all of her adopted family to have that same sense of one standing by their side supporting them no matter what as she had.
The hybrid encouraged lone familiars to settle in among the pride and set up families knowing they’d be protected by the pride. This would give the members a base to select from as the young from those new families grew. There was one other option if none of the clan’s un-bonded familiars suited. The adult could go out into the rogue lands on a familiar quest and search for an appropriate partner there.
A familiar will never be forced upon the unwilling, but they are highly encouraged.
Commonly accepted familiars: servals, maned wolves, jackals, snakes, birds of prey(eagle, falcon, hawk, vulture), occasionally other birds.
