Sherry spent enough time in the infirmary to hear things. She knew enough to know that Jason Kenneth, asshat extraordinaire, was in the infirmary. She had tried to find out details, but the both Moon's she'd asked had not been willing to give her too much. Heck, they'd been odd about the whole affair. She'd been hoping someone had kicked his a**, but if they had no one was talking about it.

Of course, the most troubling thing was the entire bit about the mirror. Twitter had confirmed she wasn't crazy, and talk of legacies had come up. It was a possibility... and that would explain why the few she'd asked had been a bit hush-hush.

She'd given it a few days from her finding out he was there before she decided to stop in and see what it was all about. She wasn't sure she was ready for this, but she had to know. What was going on? What was that reflection?

"Just stopping in to say hi," she said to an intermediate moon hovering around in the hall. "We're old friends." Bold faced lie but it didn't matter.

She knocked on the door and leaned her head in.

There was the steady sound of beeping, the usual mish-mash of machines plugged in and monitoring the health of the currently sleeping patient, A drip on the left side of his bed feeding liquids to his body. Jason himself looked pale, weak even, the lack of a weapon to support leaving him vulnerable, the infirmary sheets covering most of his body.

After some time he began to stir, eyelids fluttering open and gazing skyward. It had only been a few days since the 'incident', leaving the moon little time to come to terms with what had transpired. With what he had done to himself.

He moved his head, groggily surveying his surroundings until his eyes fell on Sherry. A few seconds pass, those blue orbs focusing on the hunter widening when realization and memory sunk in.

Then he turned away from her. If Sherry looked hard enough, she may notice his body shiver, though it wasn't from the cold.

For a long time Sherry had just stood there, trying to figure it out. What had happened to him? Who had done this? No one had boasted, no one had said much. Yet here he was, still hooked up to monitors and IVs, still recovering. Whatever had happened had broken his shield and then some.

Was it the mirror? The reflection? If it was legacy related anything was possible, even near death. Hell, anything that made your reflection panic was probably bad news, legacy or not. There had to be more at work here than met the eye.

He was sleeping and would be of little help to. Unconsciously, Sherry began to fidget with her ring. She should go. Go and check in later. She had just about decided that was the best plan when he began to stir. Sherry shuffled on her feet and chose to stay, to see if he'd fully wake up. She hated him, she feared him, the thing with the mirror was an unknown - all in all it was safest to talk to him now while he was weak.

He did wake, though at first Sherry didn't think he was going to be very coherent. Then he looked at her, saw her, and turned away.

Anger flared up inside her. So he didn't want to talk to her? Tough. "Hey," she said, taking a step forward. She had been planning to give him a piece of her mind, interrogate, and other such things. But here he was, hurt and wounded and... was he shaking?

Sherry's greatest weakness was her soft squishy heart, at least according to her weapon. She didn't mean the physicality of it. Sherry might have hated and feared Jason, but he was human he was wounded, not to mention there was a good chance something else was going on here.

"Hey," she said, quieter, softer. "What happened?" She didn't know where else to begin.

The shaking did not stop, not even when Sherry spoke to him. If anything it only worsened, and he refused to look at her.

"....rry...." Jason's voice was so soft, the words barely audible. The choked sob in his voice was louder. "...S-....So....." It was hard for him to talk. He didn't have the strength or the will to say much.

His shaking hands rose up to hold his head, trying to hide away from the world and it's cruel reality. He remember everything that he had said to Sherry. Remember every look of pain, anger, and fear in her eyes. "I-i'm...S-o...s-sorry..."

He sniffled, pillow wet from his tears and finally managed to say a full sentence. "I'm disgusting..."

Sherry moved in closer not sure if she'd heard him speak or not. She flinched and hesitated when his hand began to rise, but my the time they were covering his head realization had set in. He was crying.

She almost rejected the thought. He had to be laughing or- or- The image of him in the mirror flashed across her mind.

Silently she stood there, watching him, trying to sort it out. It made no sense - and that was when she realized she wasn't going to just be able to figure it out.

When he finally said something solidly coherent, it wasn't at all what she might have expected him to say.

"Why?"

She asked why. Jason knew why, but to explain it... he wasn't sure if he could so easily put into words just what had happened. He didn't know if he could do it.

But she deserved to know. Even if she wouldn't believe it.

"I...w-was trapped...I c-couldn't...s-stop him...I c-c-couldn't do a thing..." His voice grew quiet, barely above a whisper. "H-he hurt you...h-he hurt s-so many people...I f-finally got out."

"I...tried to s-stop him from c-coming back..."

"Trapped? He?" She couldn't be sure she was hearing him correctly. However, she could see the reflection in her memory, before his boot had come crashing down on it.

"That was you. In the mirror." Not so much a question as a realization. This Jason wasn't the same Jason. He wasn't haughty and cruel, he was upset and sorry. Or a very good actor. "There are two of you?"

She looked at him, and the bed, and the equipment- and the rest of what he said fell into place. "And you did this?"

He nodded. "Y-yes...I was p-pulled into the m-mirror and r-replaced with a m-mirrored version." The next question made him nervous"I...I d-don't know." He didn't want there to be two of him. Gods he didn't want the other to exist, or have anything to do with him ever again.

There was a long pause. the only sound was the beeping. But he had to speak and own what he did.

",...I did...I c-couldn't let him c-come back..." Another long pause, and Jason's head moved slightly, a red rimmed eye peeking out underneath his bangs.

"I u-understand..if you d-don't believe me...You can h-hate me. I k-know I deserve it. I c-can't apologize e-enough for how y-you were treated."

Sherry just stood there staring at him. Pulled into a mirror? Replaced? It was confusing and made sense at the same time. So much sense. The man who had helped in the Sahara had been nice, and truthfully most people only had good things to say about Jason. Her encounters after the Sahara, and what that other guy said on the twitter....

Sherry let out a long sigh as she looked at him. That look in his eye... it was different. He was different. When he apologized again, something in her heart broke.

Sherry turned away. It was just for a moment, because what she'd been looking for hadn't been far away. She was at the bedside a moment later with a stool, which she promptly sat on.

"If what you say is true, then it's not your fault. I wouldn't hate you for something you didn't do." It was true. And while some part of her was still reserved, just in case, most of her was now more worried for him than anything else. Still...there were some trust issues. "Um, do you think you can look in a mirror for me? Just to check something?"

She'd brought a small hand mirror with her, and she was fidgeting with it in her pocket.

Sherry's words were kind, and while it was a blessing for her to be so forgiving, it also hurt at the same time. He didn't her to brush off such behavior from him. While it technically wasn't himself who did that, he didn't feel it was fair. Not for her sake. She must have been so scared...

He kept quiet, a long shuddering sigh while trying to control his emotions. The mere mention of the word 'mirror' had him flinching. Truth be told he never wanted to see another mirror again. But he understood why she asked. "O-oh, o-of c-course!"

Inwardly he cringed and wondered if he was gonna develop a phobia of mirrors.

Sherry had been terrified. She still was, deep down. Still questioning it, still questioning him. Thus the mirror.

"Okay," she smiled again, and held up the mirror. "You know what I say last time, right?"

She held it over his face, so she could see the reflection. If she saw the same thing, then nothing would have changed, right? That would be the worst case. But if what he said was true, then the Jason she saw in the mirror before was here, in the bed. Did that mean she'd see a normal reflection in the mirror? Or an angry one?

"Y-yes. I remember." How could he not. It was the first time anyone had see him trying to warn everyone.

He shifted onto his back and pushed himself up into a sitting position, his movements slow and cautious as he didn't want to tear anything. Although his weapon had done a marvelous job of putting him back together, as well as the moons who had responded to him, so he wasn't in much pain.

At first he kept his eyes closed, afraid of what he would see. But Sherry would see the mirror only show what he was doing. Just as a mirror should. He opened his eyes to see himself looking just as apprehensive, leaning closer to check for any signs of something wrong, before leaning back with a sigh of relief.

Still, he was weary of the mirror. He didn't trust it.

Sherry offered him a smile, though it was a little hard to watch him shift so that he was sitting. She wondered if there was pain, or still any danger of being hurt. She wasn't sure exactly what he'd done to himself, but it had been something, apparently.

Her gaze shifted to the mirror, then to him, then the mirror again. She looked back and forth a good six times before trusting that what she saw was simply his reflection. His own reflection, the one of him sitting here. "Thank goodness," she whispered as she put the mirror away.

"Sorry I- I just had to make sure." She glanced down at the edge of the bed before her. "The other one.... I just had to be sure."

She looked back up as Jason. "Can I ask about it?" She already had, but now that she knew for sure who she was dealing with...she'd be polite.

"N-no, you d-don't need to apologize. I'm the one who should be s-saying sorry." And continue to say it. For the next 100 years. But even with seeing his reflection, Jason couldn't be certain the other version wouldn't come back.

"Yy-es, but I d-don't know too much myself. I j-just know I was dragged into a p-portal by a...thing, and nearly died when I was pulled to safety. By him, I think." He did not enjoy being rescued by something so evil.

"I d-don't know where he came from or why he even exists. This whole mess just came out of nowhere."

"You have apologized," Sherry said with a smile. "It's okay. You even tried to warn me." She had to suppress a shudder at the recollection of the moment the other Jason had stomped the mirror. He'd been so angry. She pushed the memory aside. It was in the past and she didn't need to worry about it now.

"Dragged into a portal? I see." Sherry paused, considering. Dragged into a portal and trapped while another him ran around and caused problems. Problems was probably too light a word. If it was just problems, Jason probably wouldn't be here in this hospital room.

She would tell him about the twitter conversation, but first she had to ask something. "Are you okay?" It sounded like a silly question, but it was important.
