There was plenty for Remarque to be doing; his most important work was in Mirrorspace, if only because he didn't know what they would find--or how long they would find it. He hadn't given up hope that hidden within, somewhere, was the answer to all of their questions.
Sometimes, though, it was difficult to deal with blinding white walls and disappointment.
Destiny City had a rare reprieve from its usual winter chill and Remarque was taking full advantage of it.
The Eternal Senshi was currently taking a stroll through the park; he'd drained some energy while he could but the pickings were slim--they always were, this time of year.
He didn't mind terribly though; while he was minding his own business, he was also aware of at least one other energy signature in the area. Casually he was making his way toward it; too fast and he figured they'd assume it was an attack, but at this pace?
Hopefully their paths would collide--if only to dispel some of the boredom of his late night venture.a-disgruntled-dragon Please let me know if this is okay! <3

You know when you say you're going to do something, but then it slips your mind due to several other things? Such as trying to set up your own disappearance and telling your parents you were moving to Japan to 'find yourself'? And your father really doesn't handle that well, but instead of kicking you out or disowning you or threatening to stop funding college he just sort of... ignores you? Then your entire family begins to ignore you and look through you?
And maybe perhaps you are told all the pictures of you are gone, and the Ness family doesn't have a son?
That was sort of where Hydrus was as the year changed. On one hand, it made his decision far easier to rationalize. On the other...
Blue eyes stared hard out at nothing in particular, mouth pulled into a tight line. He held his arms in his sleeves, no tea this time, and mulled over the silence as he had been for several hours now. Hydrus felt Remarque's presence - that slow, steady increase of Chaos that always seemed to prelude his arrival - and glanced to the side briefly to see the Eternal Senshi.
"Remarque... A pleasure," he said, disengaging from his spot on the picnic table to greet him properly. "My apologies for not contacting you... it's been... interesting."
He did not elaborate further, though he was sure his face spoke volumes more.

Remarque nodded his head in greeting and kept a close eye on Hydrus' face. He could read the expression easily enough, even if he could not discern why he was wearing it.
"I don't hold it against you," he replied easily enough. "Most people don't ever call back for follow up. Plus," he shrugged. "Sometimes path's just don't cross again until the time's right." He didn't beat around the bush and added, "You look like you've seen better days. What's life putting you through?"
It didn't feel like prying, just talk; he was genuinely interested in what was going on, even beyond just personal gain. Certainty he'd thought Hydrus was a good candidate to join the Dark Mirror Court, but more often than not, people changed their mind.
It didn't mean he wanted to lose someone who could be an ally, even if they were still a White Moon Senshi.

Hydrus chuckled softly and shifted his arms in his sleeves. "My father disowned me. Told him I was going to intern at a company in Japan and go to university there, at the same company as Grandfather, and he disowned me..." he said, jaw clenching with anger that slowly was becoming unchecked. One hand clenched into a fist in his sleeve, the cracking of his knuckles audible even through the cloth.
"He wanted me to take over the family company, but never once told me this was his expectation. Why would he? Clearly he laid out the plan when he tried to force me to go to Yale instead of DCU! Bright as day even! I'm simply a tool to be sharpened and used as he commands it!" Hydrus all but growled, throwing his hands up in the air with uncharacteristic emotion. He huffed, clenching and unclenching his fist with a sudden need to hit something. Quick as the anger came, it ebbed, and he glanced at Remarque.
"My entire family believes I no longer exist. That I never did exist. I simply wished for an cover for joining the Dark Mirror, and yet I feel it would have been simpler to have faked my own death. At least then they could have mourned me... not forgotten me in shame." Hydrus hung his head, shoulders slumping forward. Perhaps then... No. What was done, was done. No sense in worrying about it now.
At least, that's what he told himself.

Remarque’s eyes flashed when Hydrus mentioned his father. He nodded grimly; despite Hydrus’ misfortune, things seemed to be working out in his favor, though. Certainly all Hydrus’ father had done was work harder to push him away.
Into the arms of the Dark Mirror Court.
“I am sorry to hear that,” he said, at least partially earnest. He delivered it convincingly enough, though. “You must have had a harsh upbringing if your family is so keen to throw you away. If you would like, I can take you through the Mirror?”
The offer was still there—it was always there.
“There’s a fresh start for you on the other side. If you have nothing more to lose, it is as good an opportunity as any. And, when we are done, perhaps we can mourn the life you left behind—and celebrate the life you have ahead of you. Are you old enough to drink? I’d buy you one regardless. It seems like a good night for one.”

Hydrus chuckled and smiled at Remarque. The offer had never gone off the table. It wasn't a marble he could drop, it wasn't a question. It hadn't really ever been a question, honestly. He'd thought about it, yes, but the temptation of it, the freedom of it.
That was never questioned.
"It was never a question, Remarque. Simply a matter of when," he said, uncrossing his arms and facing the Eternal senshi properly. He bowed full at the waist, black hair falling over his shoulder.
"I've come to join the court, if you'll have me. And a drink after sounds wonderful," said Hydrus.

Remarque donned a proud smile and nodded; he seemed relaxed—happy with this. He hadn’t ever really lost faith in the Court, but it was always good to have hope refreshed. “I couldn’t imagine turning you away. Do you have everything you need prepared already or do you want some help afterwards?” he asked; he waved a hand and a tall, dark mirror appeared next to him. It had an intimidating aura about it but it wasn’t necessarily malicious.
Shadows seemed to shift, even in the darkness hidden behind the glistening glass. It didn’t have a voice, but it still seemed to call.
“I can help you find a place to stay until you get on your feet. And if you need help with getting a new identity getting set up, I’ll help you with that, too.”
He’d done it a few times; withdrawing from the White Moon and enrolling in the Dark Mirror Court always came with its hardships, but Remarque wanted to make the transition as easy as possible. A happy Senshi was one that could try to help the Court. Try to make it better, try to make it grow.
Try to find the answers they needed to move forward.
“It’s easy, though. When you’re ready.” He nodded to the mirror at his side. “You step through it. It feels like jumping in a pool of water—you’ll get used to it. Happens every time you Mirrorwalk. You step in, you step out.”
At least, he assumed. He hadn’t ever corrupted, but based on the experiences of those who had, he had gathered that it was a short trip into a dark room. An endless blackness—and a single light: the other side of the mirror.
They always stepped back out of the Mirror they’d gone into—the first time, at least. When they’d joined the Court they could control it better. “Sound good?”

Hydrus eyed the mirror, glancing at him for a moment. Just walk through it hmm? He could do that. Couldn't be harder than putting on his henshi, though the comment about jumping into a pool of water sent a shiver of panic through his chest.
He said it was like jumping into a pool of water, not that it was a pool of water, Hydrus, he told himself, taking a few steadying breaths. He would be fine, he would be fine, Remarque would not do this unless it was safe. Besides, the mirror called to him. It called him to his home, his new home.
He could not hesitate, not with this.
He nodded to Remarque and stepped to the mirror. He brushed his hand against it, the glass rippling beneath his fingers. The tips of them sank into the mirror, and it sang to him. Just step in, and step out. That's all he had to do. He paused, one last time, and looked to Remarque.
"Tatsuya. That was.... my past's name? I think, I never really looked further into it, but that's the name I'm taking. Tatsuya Kato," he said, and then stepped into the mirror.
A flare of panic surged through his chest as he entered the mirror, and the space beyond it. It was dark, distinctly a room, but he was not floating, not drowning. He was standing on a floor of some sort, but he couldn't see in any direction. He turned behind him, but the mirror he'd walked through did not exist.
Step in. Step out.
Something blinked into existence to his left and he turned to face it. A single white light, in the distance. He walked towards it, the light growing in size until it mimicked the mirror he'd walked into earlier.
He stepped through the lit doorway, and out the other side of the mirror.
The senshi let out a breath of air he hadn't realized his was holding as his feet touched ground next to Remarque. Cloth fluttered at his sides, and he realized his fuku had shifted and changed. Lighter in places, but heavier in others, the silver bangles on his upper arms tight to his skin. They tethered down his sleeves. A loose, sheer overtunic hung from his collar, a tad much if he was honest. The largest change however, was the lack of all white from his uniform, instead placed with black.
And his now bright yellow eyes.
"So, you said something about a drink?" he asked, feeling at home within the Chaos coating him now, and feeling far more at home than he ever had before.

Remarque eyed the new outfit, taking in the changes and finally nodding. A grin slipped onto his face and he clapped the man on the shoulder welcomingly. “I did. So come on, Tatsuya. Tonight’s on me.”
It was rare that the Dark Mirror Court got a new addition, but it was a good step and Remarque was happy that it was Hydrus who was joining them. There were few Remarque wouldn’t accept, but there was a part of him that felt a bit relieved to have not only a Senshi who already had an introduction to this war and knew that he wanted to be in the Dark Mirror Court…
But it was nice to have another guy, too.
Not that he was going to openly admit it, but it felt good to have someone he could go get drinks with—without worrying about what Raven was thinking.
But that aside, they had a lot to go over.
He wouldn’t mind a little relaxation before they got into the serious stuff.a-disgruntled-dragon I am good with a fin! Let me know if you want to RP more 8D
