To the most esteemed Majesty of Ethe and its provinces,
Your humble servant, Baroness Youkimi Kai of Ethe would humbly request an audience with Her Majesty. We share a mutual concern for our beloved people, and I have resources to better aid and benefit the growth and the recovery of our nation. At your earliest convenience, I would have us meet so that we can discuss and plan for the return of our nation to the heights it once had.
Ever your servant,
Baroness Youkimi Kai
---- This letter, written and sealed with a unique symbol of a flame in the outline of a bird in blue wax, was carried by a servant wearing the same symbol on the jerkin outside of his chainmail armor. He arrives in haste and says very little, bowing often and exhibiting the highest of respect.

Not long after the baroness received the letter did she begin to pen her reply. She bade the messenger stay so that he could deliver it more quickly to his master.
Cotton Shorts Kid
Dearest Dixon,
You do well to consider the state of our nation's security, and my best prayers and wishes go to your effort to secure our nation and to strengthen her people. As per your request, I send the most skilled warrior and knight in my employ to your care.
Hisoka Kato is a gentleman of honor and is direct in all his doings. He serves Ethe well and will be a benefit and a strength for your effort. He departs to soon meet with you to discuss the details of the training you wish to set forth. There are few others I would entrust such bold ideas with, dear friend. May the Goddess continue to bless your efforts to sustain and build up this country.
We of Ethe send our greetings and best wishes, and in the deep of winter, we send our hopes for the health and well being of your plentiful country. In the wake of the new year, Ethe seeks to benefit both of our great nations. We look only for the best of our people, as both of our nations is home to a proud and noble people. We have long been neighbors. Shall we continue to be so?
If it suits thee, we of Ethe are willing to set aside the past if you are willing to come with us into a brighter future. Shall we open up favorable trade routes to benefit our nations together? If it suits you to maintain written correspondence, we shall send only our best and most dutiful messengers to defend the transactions and the letters between us.
Respectfully yours, Acting Steward of Ethe, Baroness Kaishin

The letter was sent as simply and unassuming as ever, marked with Kaishin's sky blue wax and sealed with the insignia of the house superimposed over the mark of Ethe's flag.
Esteemed High Councilwoman,
We may not be friends, but we assent that our nations are worth more than what we might personally feel. We respect our people and seek after their well being. Might we suggest that we allow our traders the autonomy to trade amongst each other? We feel that the people trade for what is needed and might better speak for the needs of the nation than that its nobility might superimpose.
However, if there are special and specific deals to be made, perhaps we can arrange them with more formal attention and thus save time from the initially worrisome paperwork and the worry of disappointing the people. Would this please thee?
Respectfully, Acting Steward of Ethe, Baroness Kaishin

- - - - - - Addressed to Count Titanus after the death of the goddess at the city of ash. Respected Ally and Friend,
I barely know where to begin with recent events. Unfortunately, I am unsure of when we will be able to speak privately on the matter, but not wishing to delay a better understanding, I write this letter and hope that my mind will be clear enough to write down the questions I wish to ask.
I could not ask when we visited the city of ash. I need to know the reason. Please, explain everything to me.
Heaven forbid something should come and haunt us because of something I am uninformed of. If it suits you to speak personally on the matter, we can arrange such an occasion, but we will be pressed for time, and it is difficult to guarantee discrete conversation that is not overheard.
I await your reply and wish you the best of health.
(She signs it in elegant hand, suggesting that this is an official letter.)
- - - - - - - [10-24-2017] [To Cyn Bronzewell, In Reply] Having received your letter from the diligent hand of the lad that brought it, I pen my reply in all haste for him to return it. In the unsettling news of this attack, I expect that it would be wise for us to arrange for the safety of your little one as quickly as can be managed. At your safest and earliest convenience, we await your wing. It is understandable if you arrive before you are able to pen a reply. When you do come again, bring this letter. It will act as my seal and permission for the guards to show you quickly to me.
The letter, penned in elegant hand, is sealed by dark blue wax and bearing the simple flame mark of the Kaishin family. It is addressed to the king and is delivered by a knight of Ethe, in full armor, but bearing no weapon.
To His Royal Majesty King Herod Letho of Phoebos
Your Majesty,
In this time of conflict between nations and with the hostilities of our neighbors being higher than it has been for our children to remember, I fear that I would do a disservice to those in my care if I did not reach out. Your Majesty is likely aware of my recent charge as Ethe's regent, and it is to her care that I have been tasked. However, I fear my lack of experience and wish to benefit from the knowledge of one who has seen and ensured greater protection of his people.
At your earliest convenience, your Majesty, can this humble phoenix council with you? I patiently await your reply.
Sincerely, Baroness Kaishin

[Sent on behalf of the crown, penned by Marshall Susumu]
Good Sir,
Word of your noble work and accomplishments has reached the citizens of our humble Ethe. It would be unwise to ignore this work, or to give credit where it is due. If it pleases you, the throne of Ethe is willing to compensate you for your services if you would bring your discovery for this violent fever that damages our nation.
If you would come to our fair Ethe at your earliest convenience, we will arrange for suitable accommodations for yourself and for those who would attend you. If you require an escort, we will also be honored to arrange for a comfortable and speedy journey.
We eagerly await your reply via this messenger.
Your Humble Servant, Sir Susumu, Knight of Kaishin
From the Desk of Ethe's Regent to the King of Phoebos comes this letter at the hand of a knight, delivering this letter directly to the capitol of Phoebos. The knight is humbly armed in the colors that betray him as a royal messenger, though underneath the tabard are plates of armor. As a sign of trust, he enters with his helmet under his arm.
Your Majesty,
In this time of change for Ethe, we see it in our best interest to reach out to our neighbors again and to find our define our place now that we are outside of the empire. It is our pleasure to invite you to dine with us at the Quartz Overlook within our capitol.
We look forward to your insight and your wisdom as we discuss matters of the state and prepare for the future.
Regent of Ethe, Baroness Youkimi Kai

Penned by a delicate hand and clean letters is the reply that Youkimi wrote back to the prince after she received his letter.
She wrote it in simple Ethian, lacking the flourish of many official letters, and written so it could be easily understood, as he sent his letter to her in the same language.
Brave Nero,
It is scary to be in a new place and to have a new home. You are brave for being able to try and to live in a place like Lionis. Once, I was also away from my home, and felt scared because it was not like my home. New things need time. I promise that it will get better and that those you meet there will love you very much.
Your mother would miss you if you left Lionis. If you wish to visit, please ask her, and if she agrees, I will have a room prepared for you to come. There were two letters in this envelope. Could you give the letter with the blue stamp to your mother?
May the Gods continue to bless your steps, Lady Kai
-----
The second letter in the same envelope was stamped and sealed shut with blue wax, pressed with the Kai seal. The letters were clearly written, but with the flourish of an official letter, and in the common language of the empire.
High Empress,
I have no desire to go behind your back or for there to be surprise. Young Nero has made good strides with his writing, and it was a joy to receive his letter. I wish to keep doors open to Lionis, as a neighboring entity, and if it suits you, I would also be honored to have you and your family as my guests if you should feel the desire to escape Lionis for a time.
If business keeps you away, I also understand. Though we may rule separate nations, there is no need for us to become enemies. Nor would I have any wish to deny knowledge of Ethe to the young Nero, who has shown extraordinary characteristics that do you great credit. He is always welcome to visit Ethe, should it also be alright with you. If needed, Ethe is happy to arrange an escort to ensure his safe arrival, and to accept any you would wish to watch over him while he is here, to further ensure his safety.
May this letter find you well, and may the gods keep you.
