He was sitting out in the middle of the training field, his flip flops kicked off, and still waiting or rather ignoring Carolines request he ware shoes more often. He had yet to test the limit of his fear shield or even summon Sylvia, but he was sure he could MOSTLY go bare foot and be okay outside of an emergency. As it was Roland was consulting Sylvia about the whole weapon thing, talking to the air around him as he'd yet to realize he could just think to her. "We can do the golems thing Sylvia but I need to summon you. You heard what everyone has said and saw the twitter. If I can't do that we're both in trouble." << But I don't want to be a weapon I want a body again! >> He sighed, "But it's only for an hour, and even if they pay us they won't keep us here forever if we can't work together. And I think, I think it would be good for us? Jordan said we had a good bond at one point." << Well what if he's lying huh? You can't remember it, neither can I, and whos to say Rep isn't right and everyone IS trying to manipulate you? >> This one made him pause, "I don't think Jordan would do that. Shu said he was good and Shu was...." He paused, "Shu? She seemed really nice and not at all a hunter or serious. So if she thinks Jordan is good he probably is."

"Jordan is a reliable source for information and advice." She hadn't meant to eavesdrop on him, but it'd been hard not to hear his side of the conversation as she wandered past on her way back to the dorms. A bit dirty, a bit disheveled, Peyton was standing behind the young trainee with a bottle of water in one hand, and a small towel over her left shoulder. She was dressed for a hard day of training, and that is exactly what it looked like she'd been doing. "You can talk to her in your own head, you know." This came with a smile. "That way no one else can hear."

Roland sat up a tad bit straighter when he heard the voice behind him. It was a mix as to weather or not people just ignored him because of his age. However what she had to say was actually good information, and she sounded like a nice person. He also paused wondering again: how did he end up talking to so many girls here? He couldn't manage that to save his life starting highschool.... So he flopped backwards onto his back looking up at Peyton upside down head slightly cocked. "He seemed really nice, apparently I knew him before the whole age mix up." Suddenly he was rolling over and hopping up onto his feet, he seemed more, energetic then Roland had been in the past. "You look like you've been hanging out with Joy. She asked me to be her weight spotter but uhhhhh she didn't realize I was short and scrawny, as for talking to Sylvia... I dun know, its nice to talk out loud mostly because not many people are talking to me? Fifty, fifty, most of the ones that have used to know me have been nice but the others it's, 'out of the way shrimp!' 'Go find your creepy mom' and lots of grunting or eye rolls."

"Yeah, you guys were friends." There was a beat, then she grinned in amusement. "I think Jordan might be friends with the whole island. He's good people." Both the Miller boys were. Weight shifting back to her heels, Peyton sank her hands into her back pockets. "Joy?" The name seemed familiar, though Peyton couldn't put an immediate face to it. Once upon a time she might have assumed that meant the other girl was new, but considering how much she'd kept to herself in the last couple years it was entirely possible she simple just hadn't met her yet. She snorted at his recount of the way people had been talking to him, eyes rolling. "Sounds like Rep. Don't worry, most people here aren't that much of an a*****e." Did Roland know they used to be friends? Did she remind him of it? What if he'd been trying to start over?

"That sounds pretty believable, he gave me a light run down of things before I went and saw H about my whole being a kid again. He gave a quick nod, "Yeah she's another hunter, like the third I met that knew me?" He counted off, "Jordan, Shu, Joy, and uh, teeeechnically you?" He shook his head at the Rep comment, "Haven't met him or her or whatever they are yet. They just spam twitter a lot." There was a bit of a pause, "I uh, like I said I did actually know you?" He held up his phone, "Peyton right?" He paused, "I deleted everything that was in my phone but there was some stuff talking to you now and again."

Ah ha. Peyton had wondered if they'd get around to the whole business of him having known her before the whole 'turned back into a teen' thing. Of course, even having been expecting it, it didn't exactly make any of it any easier to deal with. But she smiled at him indulgently and nodded, sinking down to take a seat on the grass across from him. "Yeah, you knew me." Apparently he hadn't delved that far back into their DMs. That was alright. The less she had to explain, maybe the easier this would be. Ha, easy. "We were pretty good friends. You always had my back, when I needed it."

For what it was worth, Roland was getting use to this conversation at this point. As Peyton took a seat he flopped down into the grass again taking up an crisscross pose. "You also offered to be my Guardian, which I mean, that's kinda okay with me? I don't really know anyone I guess it would be odder for you?" The next part though put a small smile on his face, "I feel like everyone says stuff like that, Jordan, Shu, now you, from what did read on my phone. I don't know. I seemed like a downer?" He frowned just a bit, "Be serious with me, was I?" He paused, "I think I'm being a downer now." << You are. >> "....Okay Sylvia votes on downer but we're going to ignore her vote." << Rude! >>

"If you want me to be, I can be. It's up to you." She'd play the part for any of the young ones that needed it. At the frown she couldn't help but reach out for him, though her hand hesitated just a second over his before she actually touched it. "It's complicated. The last couple of years you were dealing with a lot, and not all of it good." She had understood, having been going through some of the same things. "But for the most part, no. You were pretty positive for the most part.

"Well if I went with you then I might end up in Sun. I mean, I thought about moving to life because of Caroline and Mimsy, but they're pretty preoccupied with stuff to help me as often in the division. At first he didn't recoil from her hand, instead looking at her curiously before she placed her own on his making him blush. Too many girls, too many hugs and small touches this was weird<< And I live in your head, if you're going to count girls and weird you should include me you know... So rude. >> His attention snapped back to Peyton as she spoke. "Sorry for asking about all the heavy big deal things from past me," he finally made eye contact with her again, "It's good to know people thought I was a good person, or that I handled my life well."

"You don't have to apologize, I think I'd be curious too if I was in your position." She'd have to do what some if the others had done, delete everything on her phone. Or relentlessly pursue the past to learn every gritty detail. There wouldn't be a middle ground. She gave a small shake of her head and smiled at him. "If you wanted to be a Sun, sure, but that's up to you. Where you go isn't up to who plays guardian, it's where you feel you're best suited. My little sisters in Life, and I practically raised her."

"Thanks, really, it does make me feel better to get some reassurance." Settled down and relaxing a bit more he leaned back resting on his hands. "Well, I'm curious about life, but I don't have like any kinda degree or knowledge, I've missed how much highschool already? I figure maybe Suns good because its... straight forward?"

"Anytime you need someone to talk to, you can come to me." She knew he had other people he could go to as well, but she still cared about im, and if she could help, she wanted to. She picked at a blade of grass, pulling it free from the cradling blades around it. "Well, I hear you might be able to do something about that missed school bit. They're going to fix up the school in town, and Caroline is gunna hold class, I think." Peyton didn't have a clue what sort of class, but anything was better than nothing, right? "But you're right, Sun is very straight forward. It can be really hard, but really rewarding too."

Roland smiled at the offer, "Thanks Payton. It's nice to know a lot of people really do care even if twitter uh, sometimes implies otherwise." While Payton spoke and toyed with the grass, Roland moved to roll stones in his hands. "That would be a big help, but I mean, some hunters have been here since college, they would know a lot more then we would ever with the school here." There was a small pause as he nodded a bit. "Yeah, like the reward of not being eaten by a...ghost? A monster? I'm still not really sure what we're fighting."

She gave him a thoughtful look, lips pursing, before shaking her head. "That's not necessarily true. Some of us came from college, but some were picked up right after high school. There's a number of hunters that were recruited at seventeen, even. So, I mean, you're not really at that much of a disadvantage." And just how much of that education applied to their current lives? She flicked the grass at him, and frowned. "And no, not just that." If survival was the only rewarding part about being a Sun, then their division was pretty pointless. "There's getting stronger, defeating the things that have plagued you all your life, protecting your friends." She shrugged. "And some of us just enjoy the fight itself. It's cathartic."

The slow realization that he wasn't as young as he thought on the island was actually a rather good thing to hear from Payton, he seemed to sit up a bit straighter as she explained. "That, actually is really nice to hear. I kinda thought most of us that reverted where a super extreme, though I guess being in America's shoes would be the roughest spot being fourteen again." The blade of grass flicked through the space between, his own hand reaching and missing it as it fell, "Things that plagued you all your life.... so everyone had those shadows? Messing with them and their families?" He looked at his own slim arms, he was small, by almost all standards. "I think I need to take Joy up on workout stuff if I'm going to be a half the hunter I was," he said before glancing back at Peyton, "Can you show me more Sun stuff?"
