Name: Arlii
Age: 23
Sex: Female
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual... mostly
Weyr: Western Weyr
Rider Rank: Wingrider
Previous Rank/Craft: n/a
Physical Description:
About 5'6" in height, she has a lean build with only slight curves to accent her body. Her face is nicely angled and shapely, with bright sky blue eyes sizing you up. Long and straight, pale honey hair is typically worn up in a ponytail with messy pieces hanging about her face.
Personality:
Possibly one of the reasons many find they like Arlii, despite everything else about her (and her relation to Finia), is how spunky the woman is. She's like an overly hyper kitten that just wants to explore the world and doesn't give a damn about what anyone else says. She's playful with a hint of danger and mischief making up a good portion of her nature. It's what those who know her well would call her 'public' appearance. Though there is that dash of curiosity within her that, no matter how much she tries to ignore it, always winds up getting her into sticky situations. Like overhearing a couple rider's talking low about their feelings on the ways of Western Weyr or maybe the latest news in the Holds. Of course Arlii will meander closer and eavesdrop. And when she's caught, she'll get right up in your face and threaten you with creative bodily harm if you aren't careful with what you say. Though she might give an awkward pat on the back or shoulder squeeze for anything said in dislike towards High Reaches. She might be a little biased in her choices of Weyrs. However don't be surprised to find her ready and willing to attempt something mildly dangerous. Something that won't result in loss of limbs or fatalities. A few broken bones and scraped knees is alright! Which any rider's that fly with her learn quickly. If you can still move and function, you're still going to practice Drills!
Partially thanks to the feisty attitude that tags along with her spunky one, Arlii is quite cocky. And known for being a biotch at times. Especially when it comes to those that think that because she is female and only a greenrider mean she shouldn't have that much authority. Arlii will tear into anyone that questions her ability to do a job or think her weak. Perhaps there is a little bit of an ego or an 'image' she tries to upkeep, especially with how her sister was treated at High Reaches. It's something that she hates to admit but knows is directly linked to how her father acted when she and Finia Impressed. But never underestimate her or think she'll slack off. And by Faranth don't call her any derogatory names! She'll just punch you in the face and call it good. Or shoot an arrow in your butt. Either one would be satisfactory payback in her eyes.
Having grown up in the lifestyle that she has, Arlii doesn't trust people very easily any longer. Having had to deal with her father at the Weyr as well High Reaches Weyr itself, has not improved her ability to trust either. This trait has grown with her over the turns, with encouragement from Finia, and makes it very difficult for her to befriend anyone right away. However this does not mean she doesn't have friends. It just takes time for her to discern if someone has good or ill intentions before opening up a bit herself. This also means she has a hard time finding relationships with anyone, and if she does find herself growing attached, it will take a good bit of courage and trust for her to fully open up and admit it. In addition, Arlii doesn't share much about her past with anyone. It's not necessarily distrust that leads her to this, but more of a safety factor for herself and Finia.
A strong and valued trait she possesses, Arlii is a very adaptable individual when it comes to her surroundings and situations she might be in. She tends to go with the flow of things, though she may not approve of it. But there are just some situations Arlii understands she has no control over. In these cases, she will learn the best way to make it work and continue to do her best.

History:
Born to a loving mother that did her best to raise her two girls while living with the only family she had left, her brother, Rhyvin. Aynria took up the only craft she was somewhat skilled at, becoming an apprentice weaver for a time. She'd always wanted a family of her own but feared she'd never get it. Until she met a handsome dragonrider that took an interest in her. He courted Aynria until she became pregnant. Her eldest daughter, Finia, was a blessing in disguise. And Aynria felt she might actually get that dream she always wanted. But R'lav did not want to be tied down. Nor did he want such an offspring. He left, leaving Aynria alone. Or so she thought. The man did return, two turns later.
When Arlii was born, that was the last that Aynria or Rhyvin saw of the dragonman. Having already lost her lover once before, the second time was worse. Aynria had fallen behind in her apprenticeship and was only mildly skilled at weaving but wasn't destined to move up in ranks.
Then, when she didn't think things could get any worse, Rhyvin died. There was no one for the woman to turn to for help. He'd been her only living family and Aynria knew R'lav wouldn't have anything to do with them. With some difficulty, Aynria managed to keep food - albeit barely enough for the three to survive on - on the the table, as well as possession of their little house. Arlii herself was too young to fully understand their situation, but between her mother and sister, they taught the toddler how to do menial chores around the house to assist their mother. She would sweep the floor, clean dishes, cut any vegetables gathered for meals, and kept the house tidy.
When her sister, Finia, started distressing their mother, Arlii wasn't old enough to truly understand that what her sister was doing was wrong. Not until she was about five turns old. Which, by that time, Finia had been stealing for their family for two turns already. Arlii very much disapproved, but it helped them survive. And her sister swore to her alone that she didn't steal from anyone that was undeserving of it.
While her sister took up the art of thieving, Arlii showed a surprising talent for sketching and writing. Perhaps a trait picked up from her father? She began practicing to write and sketch with the small crafthall in Nabol, taking on jobs for those who needed letters written while sketching in her free time. It brought in more marks for her family in a much more 'legal' light. It didn't really bother her anymore that her sister was a theif. At least not until she discovered what other activities Finia was involved in.
Murder. Her sister was a murderer! Arlii was outraged, demanding that her sister stop at once. But Finia refused, and calmly explained who her targets were. That she was very particular about what jobs she would accept. And slowly, with those flattering words and pictures of a heroic assassin, Arlii began to believe Finia was doing actual good. Did she approve of it? Not at all. But... she could live with it. And promised to never speak a word of any of it to a single soul. Especially not their mother.
But life took a hard turn for the sisters when their mother died. She'd been ill for some time, Finia continuously stealing medicine for her. It wasn't enough, however, and Aynria finally found herself at peace. The sisters were devastated and worried a little. But they both were making a decent living at their respective career choices. The two decided to remain in the little house they had grown up in while continuing to go about their daily business.
Until they received the shock of their lives for a second time. R'lav returned. He'd heard word of Aynria's declining health and resulting death. He was not aware of the state the girls would be in. And was even more surprised to find them not only doing quite well, but two of the loveliest creatures, just like their mother. Both with intelligence, strong will, and a spark to them. R'lav demanded that both girls come with him to High Reaches Weyr. They were wasted living in Nabol. Neither Arlii or Finia really knew what to say to such a demand. Both knew that their current life wasn't that best. And R'lav never bothered to pay them any mind until now.
But he spun a web of sweet words and painted a picture of dreams that could not possibly be true. Yet he ensnared Arlii. Finia wasn't so convinced, but she refused to leave her sister alone with the man. So, with much convining and a bargain struck between her elder sister and R'lav, the two sisters went to High Reaches Weyr.
By then, Arlii was just sixteen turns old. She had to admit, the Weyr life wasn't so bad. They always had a roof over their heads they didn't need to worry about. Food they didn't have to haggle or steal. And much to Arlii's satisfaction, no unsavory jobs for Finia to pick up. Weyr life had forced her sister to set the assassin lifestyle aside. Something that was a huge weight off Arlii's shoulders. And then, to her utter surprise and delight, she learned that R'lav had wanted them to come to the Weyr because their Junior Weyrwoman's Gold was due to rise. Which meant there would be eggs on the Sands!
It was only about a Turn later that the Gold did indeed Rise. Arlii was so beyond excited and not only the prospect of eggs, but that she and Finia actually were eligable to Stand! And Stand they did. Arlii had never been so close to a dragon in her life, let alone the eggs! It was so mesmorizing watching the hatchlings tumble out and frolick about the Sands. Or, in the case of her sister's bonded, snarling and hissing while picking a fight before claiming Finia to be His. Komaith was like a thunderstorm! And Arlii was supremely happy for her sister. However, she was fearful they she wouldn't find the same joy that bestowed itself on Finia. And as the Hatching began to wind down, with only a few remaining dragonets milling about, looking for Theirs, she believe that to be the case.
At least until one very playful green dragonet came tumbling to a stop at her feet, tail swishing like a felines as she regarded Arlii.
What are you waiting for, Arliimine? Your Erinaeth is right here! Let us go and hear what my siblings have to say!
She was the most precious thing in the entire world and Arlii knew she'd never regret accepting R'lav's invitation to join him at the Weyr. And she never did, however the man himself began to wear on her. She had know that Finia and he did not get along. And with her sister's impression to a Brown dragon, something that seemed to be highly disapproved of in the Weyr, Arlii became wary of the man. He never seemed to have any issues with her. Then again, she never offered much of a threat. Until the rumors began to spread.
Arlii was outraged by them! Her? Wanting to become Weyrwoman one day?! Ha! She and Erinaeth did strive to be the best pair they could, but there had never once been any desire to rise above the others. To be better then them. And the cold atmosphere that seemed to surround her sister and Komaith whenever they moved about the Weyr was enough of an insult that Finia didn't have to put much effort in to convince her sister to transfer to Western Weyr. So they thought the two would bring their traditions to High Reaches? Well, they'd just save everyone the trouble and move to the other Weyr!
That was when the Thread returned. It all be devastated Pern. Arlii couldn't even begin to fathom the amount of good graces and luck they had received the day that R'lav came to bring them to High Reaches. She felt partially indebted to the man. For if it hadn't been for him, they would still be at Nabol Hold. And probably wouldn't have survived the Fall. Which was her final reasoning for leaving. Since he seemed to be so humiliated by the pair of them, she gave him the gift of removing herself and Finia from his dour gaze.
Other: Anything else you want to add?
- Enjoys listening to music and dancing
- Archery~ A skill Finia taught her. She is quite skilled at this when on the ground, though she's working to master archery from dragonback. This still has room for improvement, but she's not half bad.
- Loves sketching
- Can read and write quite well
DRAGON
Name: Erinaeth
Age: 6
Color: Green
Size: 22'
Physical Description: An average sized Green with lovely proportions that one would say are considered 'delicate' for a dragon. She's not quite as muscular as others of her color, having a much leaner build. This makes her more agile in the air and slinky on the ground. She moves with the grace of a feline and with a hint of sass in her step. It's very rare to see her eyes any color but bright blue or green.
Personality:
This is one Green that loves to have a good time. She will be the one attempting to stick her head in the door of the dinning hall if there is some sort of celebration going on within so she can 'participate'. Or be up front and center (as close to center anyways) at any festivities held at the Weyr. Erinaeth loves being present at any sort of party where there is music being played and laughter ringing all around. This Green very much enjoys the exciting atmosphere that always seems to accompany these sort of events. And the smells are always delicious! Not that food is the only thing she thinks about or anything. There are also all the people and other dragons to talk to! And she does so enjoy talking with other dragons. She has a very outgoing sort of personality that typically flares up brightest during such times as exciting events.
Not one of her biggest or most apparent traits, but Erinaeth does have a feisty side to her. Especially during Flights. She's got some spirit in her, though it tends to get buried under her lack of confidence. But not always. When she's in an exceptionally good mood (as is her rider) Erinaeth will grow sassy and playful. If she's upset or her temper is rising, a little spunk will be thrown into the mix, making her difficult to work with. When she Rises, Erinaeth will be sure to give the males chasing something to really chase. She'll tease, sass, and play with them. Though she never actually cares who catches her. Whoever is best for her will clearly be the winner, so why should she choose? However Erinaeth will take into account her rider's feelings. If her rider truly dislikes one of the males, Erinaeth will be sure to avoid that one.
If there is one thing that rivals her outgoing nature, it's Erinaeth's unfortunate disease of being a 'gossip whore'. She loves to gossip. Always enjoying knowing what's going on, who the latest green to Rise was, what rider's may be interested in Hers. Or maybe it's what wher snuck into the dinning hall this time and scared half the people within the building! Erinaeth doesn't care what the news is, she just loves to hear it. Though if it's exceptionally juicy information, she'll pass it along to Arlii to find in her memories again on another day. She will also give almost as much as she receives in gossip. However she will never say anything really personal about her rider. Or something she feels could be used against her. Of course, this does not include her rider's latest flirting or how she got the crap scared out of her and shrieked like a wherry! The downside to her love of gossip is that she can be annoying and a pest at times when she wants to know something. She may divulge in a little bit of persistence to try and get you to enlighten her with what you know. But Erinaeth won't take it so far as to truly piss off a fellow dragon to the point of snapping at her.
When it comes to waiting for something to happen, Erinaeth can be a little impatient. She is not a fan for sitting still or just laying out, basking in the sunlight. She's a very active creature and loves being out doing something. Whether that be flying, walking around from place to place with her rider, or trying to catch up on all the gossip. She'll pester Arlii to get moving so they can go about doing whatever tasks need to be done for the day. And when this Green knows there is some really juicy gossip available, she'll be bouncing around and hurry to find whoever holds the most information. Or typically has the best gossip (another thing she tells her rider, so she can remember who to go back to again). This trait has subsided slightly as she's gotten a little older, but not by much. Surprisingly, her impatience does not show up during Flights. Flights are one of the few moments in time she likes things to last longer and not end so quickly. More time to play with and tease the males!
