His chance meeting with Arin had been a slight blessing given that he still didn't have many friends in DC. They'd spent most of the night talking over the pizza they ordered and Arin had gone home, with some of the pizza at Lucien's insistence, later than he probably should have. Lucien had told him that if he needed anything to let him know. He was still having mixed emotions about the whole situation but Rik had been a good friend and Arin was still mostly the same person he'd known. Maybe a little more grown up but still the same. And he wanted to help him. So when he'd gotten a text from Arin about meeting for lunch he'd agreed and they'd decided on a burger place they'd both eaten at before. He arrived a bit earlier than Arin and snagged a table while he waited.

The little bell above the door jangled when he nudged it open to slip inside. He paused as he glanced around, brushing fingers through his hair only to smile when he caught sight of Lucien. He was glad that the other young man had agreed to meet him. If he was being honest with himself, relieved was probably more accurate. He was relieved to have a friend in all of the insanity; someone other than Cordelia and Fiona who knew him but would be more likely to call him out if necissary. He was relieved to have Luc around again. Grinning, he slid into the booth across from his friend, snagging a menu from the wall as he settled into his seat. "Hope you weren't waiting too long."

He smiled slightly when Arin slid into the booth across from him, shaking his head. "No. I've only been here about five minutes I think. Just ordered something to drink." The waitress had come by to get that but he hadn't seen her again probably because she knew he was waiting on someone else. "Everything alright? Not that there needs to be something wrong ...." Lucien wasn't used to people wanting to meet him anywhere unless they needed something.

His brow furrowed slightly as he looked at Luc over the top of the menu. It took a moment before he cracked a grin, shaking his head slowly. "I don't know how, but somehow I forgot that things have to have a purpose with you. Nothing's wrong. Just wanted to get out of the house for a bit and it's been a while since I've had a burger from here-- Or the fries." For a time he'd stopped going out anywhere, spending far too much time inside hiding from himself and everything outside. It had lead him into the downward spiral that had set him on his new path, and now that he'd been given that second chance he wanted to make sure that he was enjoying all aspects of life again. "Speaking of... Would you like to split an order?"

"They don't have to, they just pretty much always do. No one just wants to spend time with me, at least not before." There were a few people he ate lunch with while he'd been in school but somehow even those turned into something about their classes rather than just lunch. It was good at least to know that nothing was wrong with Arin and he had just wanted to get out for a bit. "As long as we can get them half and half. You always liked the Cajun ones and a full order of those is a bit too much for me. Even if they are amazing."

"That's not entirely true, Luc. I distinctly recall trying to convince you to spend time in my company on more than one occasion. You just generally had better things to do-- Or you were making excuses. That's something I never quite figured out." A smirk touched his lips to signal that he was teasing, which was a good sign considering how sore of a subject this sort of thing had been for him as a teen. "Half and half on the fries with cheese, bacon and a side of ranch-- Or two?" His smirk eased into a grin as the waitress returned to the table for his drink order and to see whether or not they'd decided on appetizers or what they were interested in for the main course.

"I did have a pretty good reason for those excuses most of the time." He just hadn't been able to tell Rik what they were. "And, honestly, i probably blocked most of it out because I was convinced no one really liked me." That was something he still had a problem with but he'd gotten a bit better. Going to school away from home had meant he'd needed to make friends. Even if he hadn't made many some at least had been determined to prove they actually liked him. "Half and half with all the stuff on a large order. That way there's plenty for both of us. Know what you want?" He'd already figured out what he was going to eat, his usual order, but didn't know if Arin had though about it ahead of time.

He waved for Lucien to place his order, following up after the other man had done so with his own; bacon, mushroom and swiss would go well on a burger along with the fries. "I still think most of the excuses were because you didn't want to let anyone in. That's something you and Cordelia have in common, you know." It was something that made both of the Cardens better friends to have and hold on to in the long run as well. Once they let you in they didn't tend to let go. "How's the job hunt going?" His brow quirked once the waitress had left to take their orders back to the kitchen. "And any updates on whether or not you're going to redo that second room for Sumi or find someone else to take it off of your hands?"

"We both have good reasons for that least." Both of them had been hurt so it was easier to not let anyone in and know they couldn't be hurt again. Wasn't the best option but it was the one they picked most often.n "I did make some friends while I was in college. So not completely hopeless." He shrugged slightly at the question. "I've gotten some freelance work but I haven't found anything permanent yet. The photography stuff pays pretty well though so it might work out in the end. Sumi says I should get a roommate since he doesn't need a room to himself but I don't just want to advertise for a roommate. It would bet awkward."

"Y'know, I might know someone that would work well with your unique situation. Someone you know too, actually. They're pretty good with cooking so you wouldn't have to worry about cooking while you're busy with work. They tend to be a little more social, but I'm sure they could be convinced to keep that out of the apartment. Biggest bonus is they wouldn't get freaked out if your cat started talking." He watched Lucien as he spoke, light smirk on his lips while he reached for his drink to take a sip.

"You know, you could just say you miss me and want to move in with me again." He smirked slightly. "Instead of hinting at it." There wasn't anyone else Arin could be talking about since he didn't -know- anyone else. Plus he trusted that Arin wouldn't suggest he live with someone he didn't know. Not with how he was with strangers at lest.

"Well, yeah, I could, but then that might make you feel obligated and I'm already imposing enough on Fiona without wanting to move out of her place only to pawn myself off on you." He was certain enough that he could go back to living on his own. His civilian life was still up in the air as he settled into being someone other than Rikard Colby, but things finally made sense for his powered persona. He had a purpose and people to check in with, friends to look out for. "If you're serious about wanting a roommate, though, I wouldn't be a terrible choice. It would also make it easier for you to keep an eye on me-- Make sure I'm really staying out of trouble." He teased, taking another small sip of his drink. "Plus I make a mean breakast."

"Somehow I don't think you're capable of staying out of trouble Arin. It's sort of built into you." He took a sip of his drink, shaking his head slightly. If the mess he'd managed to get himself into was any indication he'd keep getting himself into trouble. Arin wouldn't make a bad roommate though. He had at least done it before. "Are you sure Fiona would be okay with that? I mean .. she and Cordy were a little iffy on us meeting again."

"They were worried because... Well, from my understanding of everything, you made it sound like you were going to kick my a** or disagree with their choice to give me a second chance after the trouble I'd gotten myself into. Bad influence and all." He let go of his glass, leaning back in his seat as the waitress brought their fries over. He thanked her with a smile, reaching out to pluck one of the strips of potato from beneath the bed of cheese before glancing up to Luc again. "I think they'd be alright with you keeping an eye on me. I don't think they'd be alright with you trying to smother me in my sleep." He popped the fry past his lips with a smirk.

"I still occasionally ponder kicking your a** for what you did." He picked up a fry, pointing it at Arin with a slight grin, before popping it in his mouth. "But ... you seem to be kicking your own a** enough that adding to it might be a bit overkill." His tone was light enough wanting Arin to know he was being honest with him but not wanting him to think he was still angry. "Besides, Sumi is more likely to smoother you than me though that would be accidentally."
