It had been a couple weeks since he'd dropped in on his gal Rory, so Bob felt it was time to make his rounds and check in on the lovely that had so generously kept her door (or in this case, window) open to him for whenever he felt like visiting. He hadn't lingered when he'd dropped his presents off the week after Valentine's Day, but he was curious as to whether or not she'd found his gift.
Hopping up the side of the house had gotten to be second nature, the Mauvian knowing exactly where the appropriate nooks and crannies were that he could use to shimmy his way up to the teenager's window. With how warm the evenings had been, it didn't come as a surprise to see that the window had been cracked open, allowing him to wriggle it up with the help of his large form.Sticking his head in first, he looked twice to ensure that neither of her parental figures were around. Seeing that the coast was clear, he pushed himself inside.
"Honey, I'm hooooome."
The words were practically purred, the Guardian gliding his way from under the window's opening and onto the carpeted floor.

Bob had picked the purrfect day to wiggle his way into Rory's home because, for once, the girl was home. The turquoise haired girl had been in the kitchen, throwing together a quick salad for dinner, when she heard the a familiar voice coming from her bedroom. Luckily for him, she'd just finished tossing the sunflower seeds and drizzled dressing across the top and gathered up her bowl to pad back to her room.
"Well, hello handsome!" She cooed in delight upon seeing the orange maine coon.
Her hair sat on her shoulder in a french braid and she wore a pair of leggings and a large hoodie that looked like she had stolen it from someone at least twice her size. (She had, swiping it from Axton, or was it Pasi, the last time she'd seen one of them.) Setting her bowl on her bed, she dropped to her knees before Bob and opened her arms up for him.
"Come 'ere," she said, grinning and the necklace that he'd given her, who's chain she had fixed, glistened beneath the yellow lighting of her bedroom.

It had taken her no time at all to bounce her way upstairs, teeming with teenage energy and looking as precious and happy as she'd been the last time he'd left her presence. Bob absentmindedly wondered if anything ever bothered Rory - it was rare to see her without a smile on her face or a positive attitude in her heart.
Ambling forward, he smirked to himself as he noticed the shell charm around her neck. Of course she would cherish the present he gave her - she was an endearing beast, as far as humans went, and he knew his gift choice had been perfect. He prided himself on being a charmer, after all.
Front paws rose onto her bent knees, but stilled as his little nose suddenly twitched.
Something wasn't right.
He took another whiff, closing his eyes as he focused on identifying the strange, unusual smell in her bedroom. The smell was more fragrant on her, to beat, but it wasn't like the scent she carried after helping out at the animal shelter. No, this was lingering - this filled her bedroom. It took a moment, but it finally dawned on him, the origin of the strange, new smell.
Rory had another cat.
The paws left her knees and returned to the carpet, beady eyes narrowing as they shot up at her with accusing betrayal. "You replaced me, I see."

Ready to welcome the delightful ball of fur that was one of her cats, arguably her favorite cat, into her arms Rory was perplexed upon seeing the way Bob hesitated. His nose twitched and her brows burrowed, lips pursing together in confusion as those seafoamy green eyes of hers looked down at him.
Her hand was halfway to the top of his head, her intent to scratch gently behind his ears, when he backed away.
"Bob?" Rory sounded startled, stricken even, by his actions. "What's wr -- " Oh. He probably smelt Reven, who wasn't around but her scent probably still lingered. The small cat probably rubbed herself against everything like the snippy, territorial creature she way.
"What? No. I could never replace you Bob." She reached for him again, before hesitating and letting her hand drop to pick at the hem of her sweater that nearly touched the tops of her knees. Her hands were dwarfed by the long sleeves as she used them to cover her knuckles.
"It's just - " Rory stopped, because she didn't know how to explain. First, she wanted to say that she welcomed all cats into her home, but worried that would be taken wrong. "This is still very much your home if you want it to be. I've missed you." She reached up to slide the shell along the chain as if it would help her find the right words. "I just...I found it. Her." Or she supposed Reven found her, because she hadn't known that she had a cat that was specifically hers.

Womanly emotions aside, he wasn't entirely convinced. Her? Who was this her supposed to be that had taken over his domain?
Allowing the hair on his back to settle down from their previously bristled state, he stepped forward and decidedly made himself comfortable in the teenager's lap, adequately satisfied with the amount of sorrow that came from the girl's voice. Truth be told, he never expected exclusivity in any of his human-to-Mauvian relationships, but it was nice to be reminded that he was treasured in her eyes.
Rolling onto his back, he forced her into holding him to prevent his large body from falling directly off her covered lap. His pose was obvious - belly rub time - as he let out a long yawn.
"Who exactly is this her that you're referring to? Cats aren't soulmates, you know - whatever this one is telling you, it's probably just to take advantage of your generosity and emotional state."
Sort of like what he was doing, actually.

Once Bob was situated in her lap, Rory seemed to relax, fingers scratching beneath the fur behind his ear. The shifting surprised her and she reacted instinctively, grabbing a hold of him with one hand to keep him on her lap. There was a teasing of a grin on her lips as she looked down at him, easily complying with the silent request for a good old fashioned belly rub.
"Her name is Reven." She answered, because that was the easiest part of it all. Thinking about how they met was still strange, with the small feline trying to swipe a smart phone out of an unattended purse.
"I - " Rory stopped, hand stilling in the middle of his belly, fur tickling her knuckles. "It's not like that." But she didn't know how to explain. "It's - there's this...connection. I don't know how to explain it Bob but..."

He remained quiet as fingers ran through his fiery colored fur, the young girl's hands rubbing him gently until he was eliciting a series of loud, rumbling purrs against his own control. Bob always was a sucker when it came to a decent belly rubbing.
Reven. He hadn't heard of her before - then again, he wasn't anywhere close to being an authority figure where Mauvians were concerned. At least, he assumed she was a Mau, considering the attachment young Rory seemed to have for her. Normal cats were boring, predictable simpletons.
He even wondered for a brief, fleeting moment as to whether or not this Reven was cute, but shook the notion out of his head.
"Well, if you're happy, then I'm happy." He finally opened his eyes to look back up in her direction, meeting her gaze. "That is, unless she's working for the enemy."
Pause.
"She's not, right?"

A purring Bob was one of Rory's favorite Bobs, next to the Bob that would wear a matching bowtie for their patrols, so she resumed the belly scratching as she thought about the way to explain the connection she felt with Reven.
"No, she's on our side." She said that resolutely. "She's - " Rory laughed, because if she could be sassy, her cat surpassed her tenfold. "Reven is something." Surely the maine coon would meet her soon enough.
"But, she could never replace you." That was undeniable for the young teenager. The orange feline was her handsome cat that she'd keep at her side forever if he let her.
"She used to be mine too, I guess. Last time, whatever that means."

An eyebrow quirked at the something comment, the potentially dodgy description uncharacteristic for the peppy, overly positive young woman's personality. He shrugged it off, however, focusing on her last statement as both ears twitched upwards.
"Last time?"
He sat up, or rather, attempted to sit up as the large cat ended up falling backwards into the girl's waiting arms. Not one to be defeated, he rocked himself to the side until he'd righted himself once more within her lap. "You're talking like...in your last life, peach?"
Past lives were a tricky thing... not that Bob remembered his. Or had one. He never bothered to really think about it, but being in the Mauvian business had opened his eyes to the reality that most of his senshi wards were ancient souls housed in the bodies of immature, reckless youngsters. Go figure.
"Are you sure?" His tone was more quizzical than concerned, his furry head tilting as he asked.

Rory was chewing on her lip, reaching up to push wayward strands of blue back, and she didn't know how to respond. How to explain. Bob wasn't her bonded cat, despite how much she wanted him to be and she didn't think he was bonded to anyone else but -
"I guess?" She shrugged, seeming to be at a loss for words really. "I don't really understand the whole other life thing..." She had no idea if it was even a real thing or just some ploy created and sold to her.
"You know when you look at someone and you just know?" She asked, even though she didn't really get that feeling. "It was one of those times." Like a chord that had been vibrating in her chest that could only be soothed.
"She knew, certainly."

He gave a small nod, then moved to pry himself from her grip as he hopped onto her neatly made bed. There were a few pillows at the head of the bed, each one meticulously arranged in perfect order. Bob had no issue in tromping his way over to the set and making himself comfortable among the collection.
"So when do I get to meet this little cutie of yours?" He bypassed the discussion of bonding - he didn't understand it, himself, but whatever suited her, he'd be respectful of. Especially if it meant having another new pretty girl in his life, right?
His back arched into the closest fluffy pillow and he stretched playfully out across the comforter. "She sounds like a bit of a handful - probably still a kitten, huh?"
Guess that meant that flirting was out. Boo.

With her lap now cat free, Rory rocked back on her heels and stood, legs full of the prickles of sleep. She smoothed out the front of her outfit, now covered in stray orange strands of cat hair, swiped her salad bowl before it toppled over and climbed on her bed to sit cross-legged at the end, across from the coon.
"Mm, when do you wanna? Spring break is next week." At least she was pretty sure it was. "I'm not - we couldn't afford to do the trip I wanted for a volunteer project, so most of my schedule is free." Her fork stabbed some lettuce. "We can make something work."
She stabbed a strawberry onto her fork too.
"Young, yeah. I dunno about kitten." More like snotty teenager, she thought.

He glanced over towards the girl's food, casually checking out what was on the end of her fork in a subtle inspection. Seeing it was nothing but fruits and salads, he returned to his lounging, letting off a wide yawn as one paw gently began to bat at the stuffed animal that dared to try to share the space with him.
"Could always go explore the city - make a trip of our own, eh?"
He noted the correction in her words, sensing there was some disappointment in the loss of an excursion. Volunteer projects sounded more like work trips than vacations - it would do the kid good to spend some time for herself than slaving over making others happy. "Beat up some White Moon, cause a bit of mischief."
His tail thwacked from one side to the other as he turned to stare back at the offending stuffed animal again. One claw extended out to gently click against the plastic eyeball that stared back at him. "Heck, I'll even tag along if you want, keep you company and whatnot. Would you wanna do that, kiddo?"

Rory's mouth was full of leafy greens that Bob unfortunately did not appreciate and she had to chew and swallow before she could think of responding. Exploring the city like a mini-trip...she hadn't thought of that.
"Well," she started slowly, fork lowering and resting against the rim of the bowl. "That'd probably be a good use of my time." More training would be good. She was stronger, she believed, but not strong enough.
There was so much more for her to do - to learn.
"Only if you come with," she agreed, giving him an almost pointed look. He made the offer, she was holding him to it. "You can wear that bowtie I got you for Christmas." They'd look great together.
"Just - we can't do anything that really costs much. March is always hard on the budget."
The only reason she had nice things was because people gave them to her. Like Pasi and her laptop.

"Do you think I have any dough to spend, princess?"
He laughed at the thought - no, when Bob took a night out on the town, he usually did it on someone else's dime but more often than not he flew by the seat of his furry butt for free. "I know a few places that'd be fun to visit. Free of charge - may take a bit of jumping to get over fences, but I doubt you'll have any issue with that."
Snuggling his head against the pillow, he cast one more glance in her direction before settling his furry self in for an impromptu cat nap."And of course I'll come with you. Can't have my lil gal getting any more bruised and beaten up - not on my watch."
Subtle hint: Rory, he's noticed the bruises.
