Things had been quieter for Deneb ever since Etoile had finally gone and left her a little over a year ago, not that she cared much; the little cat had been a nuisance, always trying to tag along on patrols, and, even worse, always trying to hang out with her at home. She'd never been particularly fond of Mauvians to begin with, and so having Etoile gone was as if a weight had been lifted off her shoulders. Let the cat hang out with that chibi senshi- it kept the two of them far away from her, leaving Deneb to live her life in relative peace and quiet.

Of course, the peace had potentially come with a price. It was true that Etoile was a relatively dumb cat (in Deneb's opinion), who had never been particularly helpful or knowledgeable, but it was also true that Deneb was going on five years of being a senshi, with no idea as to how to advance in rank and power. Her encounter with Chrysocolla had offered a possibility, an opportunity, but still, she continued to stall for time, to decline to give a straight yes or no answer. In the meantime, Deneb continued to do what she did best- pick fights with things stronger than her.

Today had been no exception- the youma she had pursued earlier had turned out to be more than she could handle on her own, weak as her attacks were, and Deneb had been forced to beat a retreat, leaving the youma for another senshi that had arrived on the scene. It was a blow to her pride, having barely escaped, but there wasn't much else she could do. At least it was someone else's problem now, and not hers.

Dropping down into the alleyway from the top of a store whose rooftop she had escaped to after her near-untimely defeat, Deneb was more than a little caught offguard by the fact that she had company in the form of yet another Mauvian. Not only that, but a Mauvian with the distinct aura of Chaos. She struggled to keep a neutral expression.

"I wasn't aware the Negaverse allowed sleeping on the job," Deneb finally said.
