Otto had a newfound outlook on his life, and himself. A firmer bond between himself and his weapon, and a fuller heart that desired life; a future. To protect his memories, and his loved ones. With this new sense of self and zest for living, Otto was ready to combat and face problems that he'd been too insecure to ponder seriously. One such lingering burden was that of the key in his palm. He needed to know what it was, truly. Dangerous? Helpful? He knew it held back his strength. He knew it had caused a rift between himself and his weapon. He knew there were people after it for power. He remembered Sasha, attacking Maebe over him because of a threat to it's possession. There had to be a way to rid himself of this burden without giving it over to someone who might use it for nefarious purposes. Otto found himself going through reports and records with keywords involving keys. Then locks. While at first he thumbed through written accounts, he soon found himself rolling his eyes in tiredness and boredom, and moved on to the computer system. These keys had to have a purpose. keys existed to unlock things. It was obvious. While Otto had never trusted hi own cunning or intelligence before, he wasn't going to hold himself back because of such self conscious insecurities anymore. What he didn't know, he could learn. Truths weren't found until mistakes paved the way there. Otto wouldn't use his ignorance or disillusionment as an excuse for inactivity anymore. So even now, hours into pouring through information he didn't entirely understand, he jotted down in point form things that related to the keys inside a time worn notebook. He didn't trust his own memory to keep it safe. He just wasn't so great at remembering details.

There are many, many results to comb through, but one stands out. Jerry Collins, the hunter whose black key hand was public knowledge. The mission had quite a roster, Sasha Belrose of all people had led it. Dylon West, Evan Roberts, Mattias Duffy, Washington Becker. There's mention of a rainbow of locks, seven colors. The location of the mission was blacked out, clearance-only. But chances were he would be able to figure out where from one of those who had been on the mission. It's been tagged as #LegacyCollection #Titans #Bloodlines #Reflection #Delacroix #Merlin #Artifacts

On the plus side, he knew a handful of the hunters on the article. On the downside, some of them he knew he couldn't contact. Sasha was one, since she'd gone psycho on Maebe because of his Key; and now he knew why. He'd met Wash a few times, but hadn't heard from him in ages. Jerry, in a mix of curses and blessings, wasn't around that he'd been able to tell. And two of the other men he'd never heard of. But he had heard of Dylon. He'd met him in passing as an acquaintance of Nevada. After a string of text messages to the other man, Otto had himself a vague location; Scotland. An entire country, even if it was a small one. Thankfully, he knew a guy from Scotland! So onto Twitter Otto went, sinking in the desk chair as he DM'd the cranky Brit a few times for some information. While he didn't have a specific location, he did know a few things about Legacies. One thing he confirmed was that Red, the colour of Otto's key, was Destruction; the colour of Morgana. Apparently she wasn't a terribly pleasant lady to deal with. Already, Otto had a few leads to go on. Jotting down his messily written notes in his notebook some more, including the hashtags the file came with for future use. He decided to try and contact some of the names he didn't know in the list given next. hanging gallow Text to Mattias from Otto Graves:

The paperwork had started to pile up as he been avoiding it for the last couple of days pretending as if it didn’t exist cluttering his desk. After the whole situation of the teen incident Matt was still trying to pick up pieces of remembering everything he had done towards Kyle and the reminder that his sister was still long since dead and not lost on the island somewhere. Stuffing sheets of papers into files before clicking a few buttons on the computer he didn’t hear the phone buzz at first, it wasn’t until he glanced at it noticing the flashing button that he picked up thinking that it was Kyle looking for him. It wasn’t instead it was a name he knew more in passing then in person, asking a question that made his blood turn to ice as the familiar ache in his chest called to him. Scotland. He could remember everything about that mission down to the last detail, it was burned into his head in a bad way and months later he found himself waking up in a pool of sweat of the haunting nightmare. It was the first time he had come close to dying on his own, the staring up at the borrowed body of Sasha before it plunging the staff into his chest. It had been a mistake, it had been an almost fatal step of staying around to help as a trainee. Matt read the message a few more times before slowly typing out a message to send. ”Bittiface” Text Message to Otto Graves from Matthias Duffy
Yes, I still remember where that mission was, I wasn’t in the exact location of where the locks were found but I was in the vicinity at the time if that would help. Quote: I WOULD LOVE TO. That mission really messed up Matt for a while OoO I would love seeing having to face some of it again bohahahaha.

Otto received a text sometime later, relief flooding him that the person was alive and willing to help. He sent a quick text back, waiting eagerly for a reply. If all went well, he, this Matt guy, and Rep could be on their way to finding answers. Quote: Text Message to Matthias Duffy from Otto Graves:
Good. If it isn't too much trouble, I really need you to meet with me and another hunter. Think you could take us there? It's important. hanging gallow i am here to bring you suffering my friend

Sometime later the phone buzzed again, it was Otto asking if he would go on the mission with him and another hunter. His complexion paled a little as Kasi screeched something along the words of no, a hell no, and they should never see that place again. Tapping a pen on the table he thought about before closing the phone and continuing on with paperwork. It wasn’t until an hour or two later that Matt finally replied sending out two text. One was to Kyle to let him know that he would be gone for a few days out on a mission not divulging too much info about what or where. ”Bittiface” Text Message to Otto Graves from Matthias Duffy. Yea, sure I can come show you where it is at. Just give me time and place to meet and I'll be there. Quote: BOHAHHAHAHHAHA YEEESSSSS much excitement!

Otto breathed a sigh of relief. He still wasn't sure if he'd be rid of his key just because of this break in the case, but he'd be one step closer to understanding just what the key in his hand was for. Otto sent a quick text to both Matt and Rep, asking to meet him later that day in front of the portals. A few hours later, Otto was at the outside the portal house, waiting with a shoulder bag. He didn't anticipate to be there long; a few hours at most. However, it was always smarter to be prepared for anything. Armed with a small collection of provisions, as well as his notebook for reference. Baneful Text to Rep from Otto: Portal in 2 hours. Going to Scotland. You still game? hanging gallow Text to Matt from Otto: Meet in 2 hours at the Portal ((OOC: your quotes don't seem to notify me at all for some reason?))

Matt didn't bother finishing the paper work, instead he left the office sending a text to Kyle to meet him back at the room. In two hours he headed to the portal carrying a bag as well, his face just a little paler than usually as he greeted Otto with a faint hint of a smile. "Hey." The portal tech looked at the given coordinates and then froze a moment. While Otto's team got ready, he sent the other hunter manning the portals away on some errand without sharing the location. Not saying a word about it, the tech quietly keyed in the location, not exactly the site requested, but one, they will find, that is much closer to their goal. "You guys have three minutes."

Rep arrived both fashionably late and fashionably female, without bothering to text back. He was dressed for a mission and had booked himself out a runic weapon.
"Sup?" he said with a smirk at the blonde man.
"I bet this castle is in the highlands, ******** teuchters, always doing weird s**t."
When he saw Matt, he gave they other man a wolfish grin. "Hey."

Otto faced Matt and gave the other hunter a nod. "Hey. Thanks for comin'. You're a life saver." He didn't elaborate as to why the help was important. He still wasn't sure letting others know about the key was wise, since Sasha went batshit crazy because of it. With Rep, a man he knew well enough, he felt safe to do so. But he didn't know Matt or his circumstances. So far, the limited information hadn't hindered the partnership. The tech on site seemed a bit edgy after the coordinates were given, but before he could even ask what exactly 3 minutes pertained to, Rep arrived. "Yo.." Rep... Otto's lips were sucked in a tight line as he tried not to smile or laugh. Rep was a woman. For all the bashing he did on the opposite sex, and now he was one. He instead gave a curt nod, using every ounce of restraint not to check him out. He coughed, turning his head from the pair to better compose himself. He needed Rep in a good mood, and his efforts not to laugh may have already been noticed. He was lucky that Rep liked him as much as he did, or he felt the man would dump him right then and there. "Cool. Um.. if we're all good, then let's get this started. Just as a reminder; we're lookin' for a bunch of coloured locks." He hoped to learn something while he was there. Even if all he wanted was to find the red one and get rid of his key, thereby gaining his full strength back again, he needed to be smart about this. He really hated when he had to be reasonable. Being a proper adult sucked a**. He gave the tech another leery glance. "Right. Um. Let's go." Otto ruffled his hair, feeling bashful and uncomfortable in the role of a group leader. He didn't feel suited for it. He considered himself equal and partners to the people he worked with. He instead thought of it as asking his colleagues for help, which really thats truly what this was; Otto asking for help. Baneful sorry for quotes if u dont like them OTL hanging gallow yes last one worked yay <3

There was a gnawing pit at the bottom of his stomach almost like fear putting him on edge as he nodded to Otto. “No problem, besides I was starting to forget what the place looked like.” He didn’t particularly care to know the details of this mission, or at least why it was Otto needed to come here. For Matt this was more of just getting over what had happened the on his first full mission outside of Deus, to face the first time he realized what he had really signed up for and the fact that reality of his sister’s death had happened. When the familiar red-headed woman appeared Matt rose a brow, he had met Rep once during a large Deus mission via Harrison years ago but if he had not been mistaken he was quite sure that he was not a woman at that time. It took him a moment to register it all in still staring at her... him..., inquisitively before filing it away under don’t ask questions and this is something he would really rather not know the details about ever. It was also best to not laugh. Adjusting the bag on his shoulder he gave a grim nod to Otto about what they were looking waiting for him to step through the portal. The butterflies cramming his stomach didn’t make him feel any better as the tech staff seemed just as apprehensive as he was.

The portal opens to a swamp-like forest thick with low hanging fog. The damp air hold a distinct chill and echoes with the cries of the local wildlife. In the distance, a large crumbling mass looms ominously before her. It's a wreck of an old castle with large swathes of ivy slowly tearing its stone walls to pieces. Within the forest there's hints of other structures as well. A groundskeeper's cottage, a small stone chapel. Ancient trees bear hidey holes, just big enough for a person. There are also, signs of damage. Massive churned up pieces of earth and trees violently turned to matchstick reveal the passage of something... immense. Their phones come to life with an alert message: S-Level threat.

Rep could feel people react to how he looked and tensed up in irritation about it, though mercifully no one said anything about it. He stayed tense, but at least there were no actual outbursts.
"Awright, coloured locks." he repeated to himself. "I ******** hate locks, mind those ones that ******** with your mind? Those were ******** bollocks."
Rep was calm as they headed to the portal, after all Mark wasn't here so nor was severe and imminent danger. Wherever they were going it was probably better than where he got sent on a routine mission, and this time it was to help Otto who was a good guy even if he was now old and spoken for.
Beyond was a familiar sort of landscape, old and crumbling, typical ruins except for the telling marks of destruction. He frowned.
"How recent do you think that s**t is?" he asked, as his phone buzzed. Checking it revealed it to be worse than some twitter jibe and he edged a little nearer to the other two hunters. "And is it still here?"
Bittiface P.S I don't hate quotes, I'm just too lazy to do them normally :l.

"This place is amazing.." Otto murmured back, taking a few more steps closer to his surroundings as his eyes lit up in awe. It was something out of a story book. Mind you, the aftermath of a story book. His gaze washed over the turmoil the land seemed to have suffered. Scars of a battle, it seemed. His brows knit close as his phone beeped, and the S-Level threat warning popped up. Danger was here already, and they'd barely been there a minute. Otto's hand twitched, contemplating summoning Tenya just to be safe, but not wishing to lure whatever was out there closer. "Matt.. where'd you say them locks were?" They didn't have the luxury of touring the grounds carefully; not with a threat level like that lingering around. "What the ******** even happened here?"
