Now the first thing first learning how to used these " " And in a one on one rp, never say I walked in, unless it is called for, its always he, or the name of your character. Next Spelling, that is also important and placements of periods and commas. You at least need to use these. Next typing a post more than a sentence long, and also describing your character and what he/she or it is doing. But usually this is the first post or unless when you and this person has already gone over the character's description. Then you just need to type a post on where/time/and anything else, and including what the character is doing like napping, walking, running, flying, ya know the basics. But most people like it when the post are at least one paragraph. Or more. Others don't like to read much and wont tolerate anything more than that. Others like someone who can spell right, used good grammar no chat speak, using all kinds of periods and that stuff right, and being really descriptive as if your looking at a picture, colors are also very important in a rp. Other wise it'll be bland and you both wont be able to imagine what the characters look like or the surroundings. Color is important because they help with the feeling of a place that you are describing to them. Also knowing what you are doing, and at least having a half of plot. Plot, the out line of a story, much like the plot of a book, where the hero defeats the evil, save the lady and goes home with lots of money. But there are events that lead up to those parts, but also remember, the people you rp with do not think like you do so their character which you have NO control over unless there is permission will do possibly the opposite of what you want them to do. Rping needs TIME and PATIONTS, and plus it needs to have funny and sad parts, and much more that just sad and funny, some parts may seem slow and uneventful, but when you get a idea or if the other does, which you wont know unless they make something happen. But you can't just ask them if they do, some people like to keep ideas secret so it add more depth to the rp.
Since you wont really know whats going to happen, and what interesting twists will show up. ^__^ The character needs a strong and well balanced personality, you can't go and keep changing him/her/it, randomly, like he starts out as a shy person who is kind, then just decided to make him mean and cruel, and then go change the name on the poor person you are rping with. It just doesn't work. So you need to have a strong balanced and equally satisfying character. But now, if you want to rp the same person with some one new then yes then you can change him/her/it to something more pleasing. But NEVER in the middle of a rp. ^___^ Oh, and your character just because your a boy doesn't mean you always need to play a male character, just like a girl just doesn't always have to play a female. Because if you just play just one gender then rps can get rather boring, because there are others out there who like to play both genders. And you need a at least two or three fave rps, because if you just rp one kind then rping will become boring and you can easily lose interest in the whole thing. So I recommend, Medieval Fantasy, and Modern, and Teen with or with out fantasy. These are of the three easiest to start out with. Then you get into more things like T.V shows, or Future fantasy, And yes it is much harder than others to role play.

First person Post
Okay, now, here we talk about replying to a setting, and who chooses the setting.
Okay, the person who posts first, undoubtedly gets to choose where the characters start. Where the starting scene is, like if the person describes a valley with many trees, and has mountains surrounding it. Then your character can start in on of these four places. one, in the sky, flying obviously two, in the tree clusters. tree, in the open valley. Or four in the mountains heading towards the first posts characters.
(you can't just add in a random town, well you can, say you are rping with me and I put The windy breeze rushed past the yellow and green open field, clutters of spruce and fur trees stood scattered over the valley, though in the middle of the field a tall gnarled oak stood proud and tall. A small over grown path of dirt wound its way through the field, a patch of trees grown up near by this path.
Then you can put Nestled hidden a cluster of trees, a small town had been built once striving and happy now just like any other town. Small, and many poor peasants. The town had many bars and taverns, and Inns that kept it alive. A man walked briskly into the town glancing around he stood tall and strong, a scarf covering his mouth, dark unforgiving gray eyes stared at a particular bar. He made his way towards it and upon entering---
and so on, then I would reply with a way that my character would met up with yours either in that town or somewhere close to that town depending on how you were to post after wards.
A lot of people know, and even more don't know, that the first post it not just to introduce your character first. Its also the beginning of a rp, and how and where it starts out. And its also it is important for both the first person and the second person to some how get the characters to run into each other, its not up to one or the other.)
Words you use in a parenthesis meaning these --> ( )
So you see? many people treat posting first as a chore when sometimes its the most important part. Along with the second player. Alright I guess you should also know common terms some people would use as well.
(C) or (c) = Continued- Which means that they have more to post.
(D) or (d)= Done- which means that they are finished and that it is okay for you to post.
But when you post and don't have these here, then it usually means your done and you have nothing more to post. So you don't have to keep saying your turn after every post. Some though can make it easy and just spell the entire word out. Non-the-less it all means the same.
brb = be right back - many I am sure you all know this term. It means that the person is currently leaving the computer and will be back shortly.
ttyl = talk to you later - I am most confident I do not have to explain what talk to you later means.
www = where were we? - not many use this, but specifically asking you if you remember where you and the person had left off. This term not really that common.
And for all you people out there....
Lol = laugh out loud - I ran into a few people who didn't know what this means.. Its so pretty much, it means your laughing aloud at something funny.
Sp = Spelling? - which means their person is asking if that's the right spelling and if not if you know the right spelling if you can tell them for a future reference.
So there are many other terms out there, but these are the ones you'd find out there. And there's more but I do not feel like becoming a chat-speak dictionary. I may not be the best roleplayer, but I have been roleplaying for some years now, and I do know what I am doing. ^ ^; heh.
Second Person Post
Well pretty much, your replying to the first post.. Hopefully in detail like you learned in the first lesson and here. But it doesn't mean you can slack on the description. I would say that being the second post isn't important and doesn't have it advantages.. Then I would just be lying to you.
Being a second poster has the same level of advantages as being the first, for one thing you can plan out what character you want to use, that you think would first best fit the character that has been already posted.
You could also help lay out the scenery, since most free form role plays don't just yet have a definite land scape unless the person who posts first pretty much lays it out for you first.. Then it does and there is no use to try and adding places in.
*Extras*
Okay, we all know now what I just said, here's a little more.
Time
Time is very important, day can't last forever, neither can't night, you have to put time in between actions, (sadly I can not help with this part, it takes TIME to know when you need to let the other character to be able to respond to the attack or other actions and things your character says.)
*end*
Okay so there, this is all I have to say for now, so if there's any errors then I am really sorry, but I was trying to finish this up before heading off to the school of evil and torment. Where every one thinks they are the best, unless you get the outcasts, and other non preppy people.. But even some of them think they are better and higher than a particular certain person. For we all know who these people are in are own lives. It is sad we have to put up with them. T___T But! Alas this ends and concludes my topic of the this morning! Ja!
