The Rift was not what Wolfeite would have deemed a home, but it was where Wolfeite spent at least half of his time when he was not out taking energy and starseeds. He was still entirely determined to seek out whatever creatures he could within its hazy, dark depths; make the entire place his - but that would take some time. And with a new Corrupted senshi now under his wing (or tail), Wolfeite had better things to do than sit around doing nothing.

He was not quite in the Rift now, but in the Hall of Shadows leading to the Rift, his golden eyed gaze sweeping across the place. There was hardly anywhere here; the few he had passed on his way into the Hall were Negaverse agents who either did not like his presence, or did not agree with it, lips curling in disgust at the uniform, the medals.

Wolfeite had worked damn hard to get where he was. He did not need their approval, nor did he want it. He cared little for the opinions of people who mattered less than the dirt under his boots, after all, Wolfeite's tail flicking against his legs as he kept walking, wondering what he would find in the Rift today.

Eventually he would take Kamacite down here once more, train him - but the senshi was gone for the day, and it would have to wait.

Bazzite was napping near the end of the Hall of Shadows - a favorite spot, actually, where the youma could watch people come and go (or count how mant appeared not to come back). On this day, Bazzite had spotted someone from his crystalline outcropping that he hadn't laid eyes upon before

Tilting his head, bright blue eyes likely the first thing someone would notice, he spied someone with a tail. This person, Bazzi realized, was not exactly like himself. His signature was strange, warped, but still somewhat human. The youma had not seen anyone like this aside from Tanzanite. But this was not Tanzanite, not purple. No strange arm. How long had it been since then?

Since the youma had no concept of time, the thought was easily dropped and Bazzite started to crawl down the outcropping to get a better look at the person with the tail.

He saw the movement out of the corner of his black and gold eyes, Wolfeite's pace slowing. As a human, his senses were dull, muted; he disliked having to adjust himself in order to pass off as one again, because as Wolfeite, he had the heightened sense of smell, of sight, of hearing. Everything was so much more as a youma, and he couldn't figure out why he had ever thought it had been a mistake to venture into the Rift that day.

Nothing he ever did was a mistake.

Wolfeite stopped entirely just before the door, his ears flat back against his wild dark hair, his tail flicking slowly behind him, brushing the backs of his legs. He couldn't see what it was that was moving, only that something was, something that was lurking off in the crystals that cluttered the pathway.

"Who's there?"

As ever, his voice was a rasping, low sound, almost a growl. Wolfeite's gaze was narrowed.

"Come out."

The tail and the ears were a big distraction. This Negaverse officer looked soft in parts, and was such a start contrast to the rocky and crystalline architecture of the Rift. Bazzite didn't want to pet the General for any reason other than to finally feel something that wasn't rocky and cold to the touch.

The youma's footfalls were soft and non-threateneing, the body language more curious than anything else. Bazzite's wings quickly buzzed in shock when he was given not one, but two direct orders, one after the other. His youma physiology forced obedience from him whether he liked it or not, and Bazzite briefly wondered if this General was a friend of Benitoite.

"Bazzite." came the first reply to the first order, the youma's bright blue eyes shining in the relative darkness of the Rift. The second order was easy to follow, stepping ever closer to Wolfeite so the General could get a good look. Mission accomplished?

Bazzite stood a mere few feet away and tilted his head now that he could see Wolfeite just a bit better. "...'lo, General."

He had not been expecting a youma.

But there was no denying that it was a youma. Blue skinned and craggy, like some of the crystal rocks around him, the creature stood in front of Wolfeite, no longer hidden in the shadows. Not a half youma, like Wolfeite was, bonded with the wolfish side of himself - but a full one, completely overtaken.

Wolfeite was momentarily silent, studious. He had not ever spoken to one of the youmas like this, and he wanted to take it carefully, as best as he could.

He could be useful.

"What is your name?" Wolfeite asked, voice a low growl, a perpetual sound from his turning. "Who are you?"

The youma tilted his head quizzically, studying every minute detail he could about this General. Yes indeed, he was like Tanzanite, but was much more in control of his faculties. That was about all he remembered of the purple woman.

"But General..." came a metallic reply, not in protest, but confusion. "I already told you, like you asked. You said, who is there? I'm Bazzite."

It didn't come to much surprise that Benitoite, his beloved General, would have kept the blue creature a secret from most everyone. Bazzite vaguely remembered interacting with Zinkenite and Howlite regarding some sort of punishment, but that was a long time ago. Or was it? Time was a fickle thing.

"I don't think I've ever seen you down here before, General. Maybe we live in different neighborhoods. Hehe." The chuckle seemed thick, as if Bazzite hadn't laughed in a great deal of time.

He'd missed the name first time, perhaps because he was too focused on the creature himself. Wolfeite's gaze was narrowed, his lips pressing together as he surveyed the one in front of him with more interest than he usually showed, unless it was to Kamacite - and even then, he tended to be reserved.

"Bazzite." The name was repeated, low and contemplative, as though Wolfeite was testing it out on his tongue. "You are a youma. A full youma, not like me."

His ears were straight and alert on the top of his head, Wolfeite's tail flicking once to the left, then back to the right again. The mask was still over the lower half of his face, covering everything from view except the gold and black eyes, the smears of inky black across his skin.

"I reside in the Rift," said Wolfeite, after a moment. "As do you, I assume. Are you new? Or have you simply just come out of hiding?"

There were too many questions he wanted to ask. He reigned them in, kept them to himself for now. Patience.

Haha, Bazzi assumed Wolfy asking him "who is there?" was a direct order, so he naturally complied. I thought it was funny. I apologize if it was confusing!

The blue youma seemed to happily nod at the repetition of his name. "Yep, that's me. You're only half, huh General? Not only, but you're not like Tanzanite. She was big and purple and had a weird arm, I remember her. She's gone now, I think. I haven't seen her in a long time, maybe. She brought me into the Negaverse a long, long time ago. ....maybe. What's the date today?"

Bazzite had such a tenunous grasp on time anyway. Clocks simply didn't exist in the Rift, and neither did the sun. It was perpetual darkness, unchanging.

The boy-beast tapped his chin. While he technically already answered Wolfeite's question in a roundabout way, an order was an order and Bazzite readily complied. "Not new, nope. Been down here a while. I like to watch the people come and go. Sometimes they don't come back. Do you get to leave when you want, General? Beni asks me to go topside sometimes. Do you know Beni?"

Only half was not a term that Wolfeite took lightly for many reasons, because it implied, somehow, that he was lesser than something or someone. It was like nails on a chalkboard, irritation flickering across Wolfeite's eyes, barely visible, brows drawing together even at the small clarification given.

"I am unfamiliar with this Tanzanite," said Wolfeite evenly. "That is not a name that has been bantered around anywhere that I am aware of. But no, I am not only anything. I am a youma general of the Negaverse, that is most certainly something and not only half."

He lifted his head, ears slowly lowering, flattening back against his wild dark hair. "It is the beginning of March," said Wolfeite. And yes, I do get to leave as I want. I do what I wish to here within the Negaverse, it is my prerogative as a General."

And just because he knew he could. Wolfeite's gaze was still narrowed.

"No. Who is Beni? Is he your master?"

Bazzite's ears twitched at the General's evident agitation. Almost by instinct, his ears lowered like an animal showing some submission. He didn't feel guilty for his transgression, but the submission was nonetheless compulsive. "March? It's been years then. Tanzanite must not be around anymore. Oh well." The Rift must've eaten her, Bazzite concluded. It ate quite a few people.

He tapped his chin with a long and pointed blue finger. "It must be nice to come and go as you please. Sometimes I miss tee vee but... it's not too bad, I guess." Real food and television were about the only things he could remember from his human state. Which television shows and what good though... that was a good question.

"Benitoite is my General. He's very small," Bazzite then made a gesture to indicate a good foot-and-then-some shorter than he himself was. "Blonde, he wears fancy blue clothes. He trained me and then I was like this. Now I'm his partner."

That seemed satisfactory, at least as far as the locust man was concerned.

Years? thought Wolfeite. How long had this...creature, for lack of a better word, been down here? It seemed ludicrous to think that if he was attached to someone that they would simply leave him to rot within the Rift when he could be put to much better usage" elsewhere.

But then again, his way of thinking was far beyond those that surrounded him, so perhaps not all took that into consideration.

"There is little to miss on television," said Wolfeite, which was perfectly true. "I no longer have a place where I spend my civilian life, as I cannot stay in civilian form for longer than a few hours, and it's a needless waste of time. There are other things that can be done for better reasoning."

The name Benioite was as equally unfamiliar as Tanzanite. Wolfeite felt his lips draw back into a sneer beneath the mask, the expression hidden, but it cooled off after a few seconds, Wolfeite lapsing back into a silent contemplation of the youma.

"A partner who stays in the Rift?" he asked. "What can you do? What are your abilities?"

"Me neither. I can't maintain a human form for more than a couple hours. Need crunchies or a lot of energy after that, and even then it gets tough." Bazzite frowned for a moment. He didn't like taking on a human glamour - it made him feel so constrained. Like he was wearing an outfit several sizes too small. Uncomfortable.

The General seemed very pleased by the prospect of living in the Rift. "I don't think I got your name, General...?" came a humble request. Bazzite wanted more to remember the General by than he was probably soft and fluffy but I wouldn't pet him. Growly.

When asked what his abilities were, Bazzite looked over his own shoulders to the wings he had in quadruplicate on his back. With a quick and rather loud buzzing, his wings shook like that of a dragonfly, releasing small bits of snowy blue powder that drifted to the ground harmlessly. "If people get this on their bodies or they breathe it, they can't move for a while." Bazzite chuckled, remembering what it was like to see the powder used on a live person for the first time.

He stretched a leg out. "I'm pretty good at jumping, too."

Wolfeite's mouth twisted into a partial scowl beneath the mask, more out of suspicion than anger or any other emotion.

"What are 'crunchies?'" he asked, and it came out sounding more like a demand. "Do you speak of starseeds? Or do you speak of humans? Or energy, perhaps? What is it that you feed on normally, do you devour the youma in the Rift, or do you find sustenance elsewhere?"

He had too many questions. Wolfeite's ears were still flat back against his head.

"Wolfeite," he said, after a moment. "My name is General Wolfeite."

The title was a thing of pride, a well earned point of success and determination and power. Wolfeite's gaze flickered to the wings, to the powder, and subconsciously his own hands flexed, claws curling together as though physically restraining his own abilities.

"You don't seem like the other youma," said Wolfeite, a low growl in his voice. "You don't seem powerful, like they are."

"Starseeds are crunchy when you chew on them, General. I don't eat youma, I eat starseeds. Energy will do if I can't find any crunchies. Can you eat human food? I miss burgers sometimes..." Bazzite patted his stomach in response to the vague memory of burgers and fries.

General Wolfeite didn't seem too bad to the blue youma. By all accounts, maybe Benitoite and Wolfeite could work together to get things done around here and...

...not powerful like the other youma?

Bazzite's demeanor quickly soured at the insult and the locust creature's face peeled back with a loud hissing sound. "I am powerful, just like the other youma. You can't call me weak. If I wasn't like this, I'd be a General, just like you." The youma hunched over in an aggressive stance. How could this General look down on his own kind like this?!

Wolfeite knew all too well what starseeds tasted like; even now he craved them, wanted them, wanted the burn of their energy down his throat, wanted the high and the rush of adrenaline that would shoot through his veins, making him feel invincible.

But no - he had to be cautious. He had to be careful. He had some in reserve, and he would save them for when it was necessary.

A snort escaped, derisive.

"I eat what I want," said Wolfeite, voice muffled beneath the mask, a low hissing sound. "And I do what I want."

The sudden anger was a surprise; Wolfeite did not visibly react to it, standing in place, holding his ground, a mere flicker in his eyes only a suggestion of a possible emotion. He lifted his chin, and there was an almost contemplative tone to his voice as he said,

"But you're not a general. You are a youma. That is a different thing. A better thing."
