Morpheus was awestruck. Morpheus could seldom recall a time when he was awestruck, but awestruck sounded like a pretty good fit for what he was feeling right now. Mouth dumbly agape, he stared out at the brilliant pink dreadlocks in the distance, both obscenely jealous and absolutely dumbfounded. How the ******** did that dude manage such damn long hair? And how'd he keep it from getting all up in his business? s**t, Morpheus didn't know. He already thought his mohawk s**t was long, and he didn't have half that dude's length in hair. Plus, dreads. That s**t had to be longer.

So yeah, awestruck sounded like a good word.

"Dude!" He shouted across the rooftop. His conversant of choice stood a couple buildings out, so Morpheus broke into a trot that would carry him across the gaps. Leaping as he did barely landed him on the adjacent parapet, but he looked unperturbed by his near-spill off the edge of a multistory building. Ostensibly he remained focused on the other senshi's hair, and the unique auric energy accompanying the figure.

"Dude, your hair is like, some sweet Bob Markey s**t," he huffed out when he reached a closer distance. The outfit gave him some kinda polynesian vibe, with the grass skirts and the weird flowers, but Morpheus didn't know much about that. He looked like a tourist who took a wrong turn at Hawaii and wound up with… Well, holes in him. Like he went and busted up a Mafia meeting before they busted him up. What sorta sick s**t was that?

"And what's up with your…" Cocking a brow, Morpheus gestured to his own head and chest.

From his perch looking out over the city, Haumea had been quietly puzzled by the aura he'd felt approaching. Only the fact that it was laced through with Chaos had kept the corrupted senshi from greeting the stranger with extreme hostility. And even with that, he was still boggled. Mostly with being called 'dude'. Though being addressed so heartily from out of nowhere was a close contender for the HUH? awards.

Keeping his confusion confined by the smallest of frowns, he studied the newcomer and did his best to not outright laugh at the reference to Bob Marley. What an odd person...

The frown returned when the other gestured to forehead and chest, though it was less annoyance and more thoughtfulness.

"I am a corrupted senshi. It is simply something that happens when we are brought over. What about you? You are clearly not of the White Moon, but you are not like me either..."

Of course, he could only be a Dark Mirror. There were not so many senshi groups touched by Chaos running about that he couldn't figure that one out. But to the best of his memory, he'd never really met one before. Seen them, certainly. But never actually spoken to one.

Time to remedy that.

"Helluva thing to call yourself." Corrupted senshi? He couldn't do much better with a neon ********' sign that said I'M EVIL in Vegas-style lighting patterns. 'Corrupted' sounded like it meant full of terrible s**t, and Morpheus wasn't sure how to process that information. Was he supposed to kick Dreads' a** here, or leave him be, or Option C? Morpheus cocked a brow at him. "Dude, the whole 'I need blank like I need a hole in my head' is just an expression. You know, figure of speech? You don't actually need a hole in your head. Or did they not get that memo in, what, Negaland? That where you're from?" He had to assume so; this one wasn't of the Dark Mirror.

And, frankly, Morpheus couldn't give two shits where Pinkie Pie was from so long as he wasn't trying to get all up in Morpheus' s**t. So far, so good.

"Nah, I'm Dark Mirror. So I guess we're sorta the same, but not." Morpheus cocked his head at the other man. "Name's Morpheus. I was just doin' the energy draining business before I saw your head of sweet-a** dreads. You get that s**t done before you go out? Cuz that is some damn fine work."

For the briefest of moments, Haumea was very, very tempted to attempt to pound this insolent little senshi's face into the dirt. Still, he refrained. This Morpheus was not part of the Dark Kingdom and couldn't possibly understand.

Still didn't stop Haumea from wanting to beat sense and manners into him, though.

Still, he let the other ramble on, the only outward sign of his displeasure being how icy and stone still his face became. Only when he was reasonably sure that he could speak without shouting did he decide to answer the other.

"We call ourselves that because it is what we are. What need do we have for fancy titles or flowery words? And as for this," he pointed to the blasted holes on his chest and forehead, menace leaking into every word, "I am grateful and proud to wear these marks. It is the smallest of ways that Metallia can grace a senshi as Her own."

He thought quickly, trying to remember various rumors and stories he'd heard of the Dark Mirror's brood. He had such very vague memories of them and yet... Smiling icily, Haumea's tangerine eyes narrowed.

"And at least, senshi such as myself are molded and guided by a true goddess. Your lot just have a chunk of glass and a pretender Queen who vanished ages ago to look up to."

Of course, he had only the rumors that the Mirror's Queen had vanished. But since no one had seen her in years, it was a safe enough taunt.

"We are the same only in the sense that we each serve Chaos," he said smoothly. "Personally, I'm quite thrilled to not be like you. Though I do pity you, from what I understand, your kind can't touch a starseed."

He decided to ignore the prattle about his hair, deeming it unimportant. He could hopefully learn a lot from this Morpheus if he could get the fellow to talk sensibly. Then, almost as an afterthought, he offered his own name. Manners, after all.

"Haumea."

As he spoke, the other dude looked more and more pissed off. The hell was his problem? Morpheus was just talking sense. Who needed more holes in their head? Literally no one, so why that s**t popped up on his face was beyond Morpheus. Hell, how he stayed alive despite the hole on his face was some serious newsworthy s**t. Most people had brains that got blasted out at that point, and whenever Morpheus tried to look at the thing, he only saw darkness inside. In the middle of the ********' day, he couldn't see a damn thing beyond the edge of the hole. Not one damn thing. How ******** up was that?

"Whoa." That was, as far as Morpheus was concerned, the only way to respond to something so thoroughly Jim Jonesy. Who was Metallia, and why the hell was this dude sounding all preacher about her? Morpheus lifted his hands in mock surrender. "Aight. I get you. That s**t's like an Ash Wednesday mark, yeah? We cool, man, you don't need to look at me like I'm a ******** scab here." Morpheus knew more power when he felt it, regardless - and he already experienced some of the unhelpfulness that the Negaverse had on offer. That one b***h tried to jam up his energy draining around Christmas. Way to share the ********' spirit, dude.

But Morphues proved otherwise unfazed. His hands dropped to his sides, and he continued about the thread of Dark Mirror without much hurt. As one who knew very little of his faction, he formed no great opinion about them in one capacity or another. Yeah, they existed, but so few of 'em were around that it seemed kinda like there wasn't much of a Court there. "Yeah, well, I ain't gonna contradict that. Half the time I'm out doin' my s**t, I come back and the whole damn place is empty. I dunno anything about a pretender Queen or some s**t, but I do know there's supposed to be a couple royals floatin' around from time to time. Never run into 'em myself, and I hardly know anyone else in the Court. Guess we're spread real damn thin, or hella good at hiding. I dunno." He shrugged, and reminded himself that of the few Mirror Senshi he did meet, not all of 'em got on good with him.

"Why would I wanna touch a starseed? That s**t's someone's soul, right? I heard we gunning for space, and that sounds pretty damn rad to me. Why would I need someone else's starseed for that?" Why would he need someone else's starseed for anything? Ripping people's souls out seemed kinda like Charmed met The Walking Dead. Wouldn't there be zombies everywhere?

Keeping a placid expression on his face, Haumea still flinched a little internally at some of the comparisons being made. Still, Morpheus seemed to be trying to understand. Maybe. It was difficult to tell under the rapid fire words. And he had to work to hide his interest in the news that both the Dark Mirror Court and their strange place were both so underpopulated. Now this was worthwhile gossip.

As was the idea that they cared more about getting themselves back into space. All well and good, as far as he cared.

"Starseeds are the ultimate source of energy," he explained quietly, deciding that this could keep the conversation moving while his brain focused on other matters. "If they're shattered or eaten, that life, that soul is extinguished forever. There will be no rebirth. Better to keep them whole and use them for their energy."

For a moment, he regretted that Ate had never taught him the trick of reaching into someone and plucking out the starseed. Still, he was sure eventually, someone would teach him.

Morpheus cocked a brow at the taller man. "Dude, aren't they gonna run outta energy eventually and disappear or some s**t? Seems like that's where that goes. Like a light bulb, yanno, they always die at some point." And talking about human souls as batteries was kinda weird. Hella weird, actually, since people's lives were being used to… Power s**t. Like electricity, but with a lot more broken ethics. That pretty much broke what interest he had in the Negaverse.

Peering, Morpheus sighted the starseed in Haumea's chest. It looked back at him tauntingly, and he wondered for a moment if he could simply reach in and pluck the seed from Haumea's chest. Maybe Morpheus could use it to power his iPod and Haumea could learn what it felt like for his soul to get used. Or, more likely, he'd get his a** kicked halfway across the city and learn to regret what he did. Morpheus knew the Negaverse stood as a powerful force with many in their ranks, and he met a couple to know what they could do even as basic lieutenants, and he kinda liked not getting yelled at by his court for starting s**t.

"Right… Well, uh, I just wanted to tell you that your hair looked badass. And since I ain't into that soul battery s**t, I'm gonna just step on outta your business. Deuces, dude." Morpheus threw up a peace sign as he parted from present company, and wondered internally if all Negaverse senshi sported the same enormous lack of consideration for what they did with people's souls.

Probably, he figured, if they also had giant holes in their heads and chests.

ok to fin there?

Shrugging a little, Haumea indicated silently how little he cared that a starseed might run out of juice at some point. That was the purpose behind harvesting as many as possible, was it not? To keep the energy flowing.

He caught morpheus looking at the hole in his chest and for a second, was so tempted to pop his own starseed out. But no, as amusing as the other's alarm would surely be, it wasn't worth it in the long run.

Instead, he inclined his head gracefully and bestowed a tiny smile on the Dark Mirror.

"Of course. Thank you for the compliment, Morpheus. Fair hunting," Haumea replied smoothly, watching the other leave. Then, shaking his head a little and laughing softly, he teleported home. He wanted to make sure someone else was aware of the emptiness of the Mirror.
