His family had, as expected, believed the lie he’d told them over the phone. Once he’d been settled in a small curtained off area in the emergency room he’d been allowed to use his phone to make a fast call to his parents which he’d done. He’d told them he was at a friends house - yes the same friend he spent a lot of his time with. He knew his parents wouldn’t think much of it, his friend was male after all and they were clueless.
That night he’d been able to relax, it had sort of been a forced thing, as there was nothing to do. Seung had been checked on by doctors and nurses who all came with a Korean translator who worked for the hospital - a nurse Park.
Nurse Park, who also served as his translator, had helped a lot and he’d used her to explain that he had epi pens but had never carried them with him. He was new to Destiny City and being used to the routine of not taking them with him, as he knew what was and wasn’t in the foods back home, he had not had them with him when he’d eaten something foreign to him. He had no idea barbeque sauces could, in some cases, have peanuts in them and why would he know that? He’d never, until fairly recently, been exposed to American barbeque.
He had confirmed his pen’s were up to date, still good, but he only had two. He didn’t know what had happened to the other two he’d always had. He’d always had four in his bedside table, they never left the place and wouldn’t be much use there, but two had gone missing fairly recent.
That had been last night - late last night. Xander had left and he was sure the other would check on the notes today, he’d seen someone writing all of that down, when he came in soon. He’d been told the other would be coming in soon, around the same time he would be leaving. He was dressing in the same clothes he’d worn yesterday as he waited on the discharge papers. Once those were signed he was out of here and headed home, he thankfully had the day off work.
As a doctor and a new translator Mrs. Lee pulled back the curtain around him he felt bad for them, they’d had a hell of a night, but they were due to be going off shift soon. He’d heard several of the calls which had come in, or rather the people which had come in. The person to his right had been brought in an hours after him, around eleven at night, having taken far too many sleeping pills in an attempt, a poor one, at taking their own life. He’d been treated, none too kindly, to the sounds of her retching up whatever was in her stomach as they’d forced charcoal down her throat via some tube. Yes, they’d had a hell of a night and the s**t which had come in - that one had been tame.
A fight had even broken out between two people and escalated to a whole damn family. He’d asked Mrs. Lee about it later and been told it seemed one person was caught cheating on her spouse and the lover and the husband had fought. She had turned up with her lover and her husband had been hot on her heels to drag her back home. Her family had been called by her husband and they’d turned up to scold her, or something, st become a mess which involved security for the hospital and other people as other people became injured in the mess of fighting adults.

Xander had gone home for the night, late, he’d stayed past his shift because he wasn't to make sure Seung was alright. He had to be back in today for another shift. It was early afternoon and he clocked in and headed straight for Seung's room before he needed to report to the his team in the ER. It thankfully didn't look terribly busy at the moment and he was early so they wouldn't be expecting him for just a little bit yet.
He came into the room shortly after the translator and a doctor, both which he greet with a small fondness. He picked up the chart and read over it, “good afternoon seung.”
He looked to the other pair, “you two look like your just about ready to call it a day. Rough night, then?”
There were chuckles before the doctor gave him a pat on the shoulder and called him a godsend. They were discussing things while the translator listened ready to explain anything that needed explaining to Seung, but after a moment the other doctor headed out and Xander turned to Seung. “You haven't had any signs of another bout of anaphylaxis overnight so we are going to discharge you. You should still be monitored at home for the day, but you should be fine.”
He gave the translator a very serious expression before turning to Seung with the same expression. A nurse walked in and handed him two epipens, something he was sure she'd been informed of by the other doctor. He held the up for Seung to see.
“You are to carry these everyday. Being a new country with new foods you may not be use to you are a higher risk for accidentally ingesting your allergen. If it is new always remember to ask and to look for an allergy warning. Many products have them as well as restaurant menus. You have to be careful, but in the event you do ingest it, these are your first line of defense. You are aware of how to use them, yes?”

Listening to the translator, glad for Mrs. Lee’s help, he watched people go in and out and stared at the two new epi pens presented to him. Reaching out to take them as he spoke to the translator, letting her translate to Xander would understand. “Yes, I have four at home, or I did. I have two now.” He seemed unsure where the other two went, and he was unsure honestly.
“I was taught when I was older, when I could do it myself. I got them when I was very young. I never think to carry them, I’m used to things and so it’s never been on my mind.” And it had sort of remained unthought about when a change in country had happened.
“I will...try and keep them on me.” Did he really need to? Apparently...but in what? He’d have to carry a bag of some sort around with him all the time - not very fashionable…

Xander gave him a look and shook his head, “you will carry them. You could die without them if you ingest peanuts. You we’re very fortunate yesterday, but that may not be the case next time.” He handed the pens to Seung, “these are for you. You can even carry them in something as simple as those leather cell phone holders, the older ones with the fold over magnetic flap. They fit and it clips to your belt. They even make cases that can clip to a wallet chain. Whatever the way, carry them.”
He was really serious about this because he didn't want to see Seung accidentally lose his life. He would have continued on, but he was interrupted by his sister walking in.
“Xander there you … Seung???” She stood in dressed in joggers and leotard, as much of her hair as she could pulled up into a high messy bun. “Why are you in the hospital?”
She had a lunch bag in her hand, Xander’s lunch that he had forgotten for the second day in a row. She headed over holding the bag out to Xander as she reached the bed. “You forgot you lunch today. Lindsey will worry if you keep being so forgetful.”
She was looking at Seung though, “you okay?”

He kept his dark eyes on Xander, letting the translator relay the message from Xander to him. It was an idea, not something he’d considered. The reminder of what had happened yesterday, of what could happen again or worse, had him ready to accept whatever he had to. He wasn’t telling anyone about what happened though, at least in terms of family, Terry, brigade. They would remain clueless - as they should be.
He was surprised by the arrival of Lily and watched the two for a moment, remaining silent, as he let the two redheads talk. Once it seemed they were done, as Lily’s attention was back on him, he nodded. “I am now.” He spoke, deciding to use the translator a bit more, it really was easier for him. “I had an allergic reaction yesterday when I was having lunch. Xander saved me.” The two epi pens he had gotten from Xander remained in his hand...unsure where to put them...eh had no pockets on his pants and nothing to put them in...and just walking around holding them would be more than a little odd, and awkward. Someone might think he were planning on injecting a random person.
“I had to stay the night.” He added once more, letting the translator finish for him before bowing low and thanking her, telling her she should go home and have a good rest - the night had been busy. When she returned the bow, though not as deep as his, she spoke a few words and went to leave then.
“Time for home for me.”

Xander raised an eyebrow at his sister knowing Seung as she handed him his lunch. He thanked her of course, but he moved when his sister went of to Seung, not shocked because the girl was a social butterfly, but he did give her a look to which she shook her head.
“That sounds awful,” she said to Seung looking very concerned, “I’m really glad my brother was there for you. I find it funny how you’ve managed to meet like half of my family.”
She looked to Xander, “he went to shop at the store and met Rose, they he met me at the park and you saved his life. It quite a way make friends.” She looked to Seung again, “you’re feeling better then, yes?”
Xander smirked at the explanation and moved around to the other side of Seung’s bed, “yes you will get to go home soon. We will do another quick evaluation and get you discharged. This might take a small bit of time, but no more a couple hours. We will try to get you out of her quicker than that.”
He looked to his sister, “you have a dance final, so scoot before you are late.”
Lily frowned at her brother and looked to Seung, “he’s right. I do have a dance final. I’ll call you when I’m done. If you still here I will give you a ride home okay?”

Listening to Lily he nodded his head to her question. “I do. Can’t remember first time...was four. Not common to have such allergy back home….or maybe is but people don’t know.” He said slowly, thinking about it. He hadn’t known anyway with the same allergy and most hadn’t heard of it when he’d told friends and such. They had been shocked.
“Didn’t have epi pens till recent.” So he’d gone years, with such an allergy, without one. “Only hospitals could treat...would and could not write out for pens.” It wasn’t a thing, it was either that uncommon and unknown or he didn’t know. He’d been too young to think about it. Even as a teenager though...he hadn’t had any epi pens. Those were really a new thing.
Looking between the red haired siblings he nodded his head. “Sounds good, do well in dance. Will call you when ready for pick up. Treat you to dinner?” He asked Lily, wanting to repay her for a trip home. Then his gaze shifted to Xander. “If you are off then - dinner also? For saving me. It would be my honor.” He hoped to spend time with Lily, she had a nice singing voice...and if she liked music as much as Rose said, and as much as it seemed she did, he would really like to listen to her more.
As for Xander...the man had saved his life, and he was rather interesting. He didn’t seem as professional as most doctors seemed to him.
“Do not rush if it means things not done right.” He said looking to Xander before his gaze again went to Lily. “Do well.” Raising a hand, making a fist. “ Hwaiting.”

Lily had listened and was happy to hear this, knowing one’s friend had a peanut allergy was a good thing. She might know better when Seung shouldn’t eat things, when they were together anyway. Xander understood better after the explanation why Seung hadn’t thought to carry the epipen, he knew it wasn’t available everywhere, but hadn’t expected Korea to be one such place.
Lily grinned at Seung with her gave her what she assumed was so sort of salute. She wasn’t terribly sure what he was saying, but thanked him anyhow. She would have to ask him later what it meant. She grinned heading to the door, “dinner sound great. I’m sure Xander will be off in time for it, or can at least take a break.”
Xander looked his sister and shooed her out of the room, “I may not be off, but I’ll try to take a break and join the two of you so long as the ER isn’t busy. Now let get a nurse and well will get the examination done and we can get you discharged. Sound like a plan?”
He headed out of the room he would be back shortly.

Getting seen to and getting out sounded like a really good plan, so he let Xander go and find a nurse for him.
It wouldn’t be terribly hard to find a nurse, or so he assumed, so the male leaned back and got comfortable as he waited. He wasn’t terribly upset with the wait or anything really, he’d gone to clinics several times both here and back home so the surroundings weren’t new to him or anything unpleasant. He’d heard some people didn’t like hospitals, or such settings in general, but he wasn’t one of those people - never had been.
Thankfully it didn’t take long for a doctor to be found, as that was needed rather than a nurse, and an exam to be started to make sure he was fit to be discharged. They wanted, of course, to make sure he wasn’t at risk for another reaction. They wanted to make sure his system was clear, which was likely the case.
Once the exam was done he was presented with the discharge papers to sign as well as information he might need, they had wanted to make sure he understood everything and didn’t feel anything. He had a prescription for epi pens because even though he had a few it wasn’t likely enough, he had mentioned to Xander a few going missing.
While working on the discharge papers he had sent a text to Lily to let her know he was getting out of the hospital and that he’d cover dinner for her and her brother - he just hoped Xander, who had been present during the exam and talk, could get the time to join him and Lily when she arrived. He already had an idea in mind and wanted to surprise them both with a meal he was familiar with, meaning it was safe for him. It was also something he thought they’d both like.
Standing up stretching, as he had spent far too long laying down in a bed, his dark eyes looked around the area as he took in whatever sounds he could - he was bored and waiting now.

Lily got the text while she was still dancing, but it wasn’t too long before she was done. She sent him a message about a quick shower and then texted her brother that she would be there is no more than 30 minutes. Xander wasn’t going to argue with her, he was hungry, having not eaten his lunch yet which he would now save for dinner, which for most people would be a midnight snack.
He chuckled as he finished up and informed his boss that he was heading out for lunch with Lily and Seung who was ironically his sister's friend. He and his boss laughed at how small the large city seemed.
Lily walked into the waiting room showered and dressed in a tank and shorts, looking around for her red headed brother and korean friend. The pair wouldn’t she was certain be hard to spot anywhere. Seung she spotted first and waved to him heading over, and seeing Xander out of the corner of her eye who headed towards them.
“Glad to see you’re well enough to head out,” she looked at the bag she assumed has all his discharge information and his epipens in it. “I can keep that for you while we are out if you like.”
Xander shook his head and handed Seung a satchel, “you can use this, my gift to you. I’ve not really used it, it mostly just sits in my locker.”
Lily gave a brother something of a sly grin, “didn’t Rose buy that for you …”
She laughed, “at least maybe it will get some use, assuming you like it Seung. So let’s head out, just let me know what restaurant you want to go to and I’ll GPS it.”

The items in the bag were held close to his side, he had never really worried about epipens and carrying them with him. It seemed he had no choice now and seeing as he was planning to go right out, from the hospital, to get dinner though he would have prefered a clean change of clothes he didn’t have that.
He could have called his cousin and asked but he didn’t need her knowing where he was, he’d never heard the end of it from her if he did. She wouldn’t tell his parents, his younger cousin was good like that, but he would hear it from her. She would understand but she wouldn’t let him get away with not carrying them regardless.
Watching Lily approach he had been about to hand over the bag, willing to accept her offer, when her brother stepped in offering a bag for him...and not just to use now but to keep? Was he serious, it looked nice and possibly expensive.
Running his fingers through his hair he smiled at them both. “I know place, has good Korean food. My treat.” He said and as he lowered his arm he took a sniff and paused...detergent? It smelled like softner...his clothing had been washed? Well that was good, at least they weren’t dirty and sweaty and just gross. Looking to Xander he smiled at him. “Thank you.” Assuming he was the reason for the clean clothing.
“Maybe best give choices for lunch…” Because not all people liked the same thing. “Can do barbeque, pork or beef, or pancake.” Which was more of a breakfast thing here, the pancake at least. “
