His last vision on the asteroid had stuck with him longer than the others and knowing that he had to wait to go back bothered him. That was one thing that had always bothered him about being able to go back to his homeworld. He knew it took a lot of power to do it and there was a reason he couldn’t just go back and forth as much as he wanted but it bothered him. He wanted to go back, wanted to see if he could find out more about Master Anjing and the Watchtower. He’d tried to remember more while sitting at home but it was never as easy when he wasn’t back on the asteroid.

Instead he was stuck lamenting to either Sumi or his cousin and going over the notes he had at home. Most of his notes he’d transferred to digital format and kept them on an external hard drive in his safe so he could easily go back and look over them again.

No matter how much he looked at them lately though it wasn’t helping. He kept going back to the vision he’d seen and wondering about the Watchtower and the Vigil. He wanted to know what Anjing and his former self had been talking about. Whatever it was had something to do with how the Scribes became scribes but he didn’t know -what-. The only way he was going to figure out was by waiting until he could go back and that was driving him practically insane.

He at least knew what a vigil was and so that part was obvious but without seeing the Watchtower for himself he didn’t know what the rest of what he’d said in the past meant. Mulling it over wasn’t helping matters either since he kept coming up with all sorts of different theories.

The only good one so far was that up in the tower you could either see the dome of the library, with all it’s stars and constellations, or you could see out into space. Either way it probably had something to do with clearing ones mind and that was at least something he knew how to do.

He hadn’t been able to do it much lately but if he could go back….

Pulling himself up off the couch he checked his calendar to see when he’d be able to go back at the earliest. He made a notation in his own shorthand to remind himself. At least knowing when he could go back would make things easier to handle. He could count down the days and then when he had enough energy he could go figure out what was in the Watchtower once and for all.

Maybe ….

Maybe he could even try to recreate a vigil. Doing that could give him more insight into his past self and what he was doing. The vision of Master Anjing had said a couple of confusing things which he wasn’t sure he’d ever get answers to but the only way to find out was to start looking.

And he could only start looking if he could go back.
