Savannah had been travelling with Tove for a long while. Long enough, in fact, that they had both admitted to being very much in love. Now they, were never far from one another-Savannah just wouldn't have it. She'd follow Tove around like a lovesick wolf pup, or a chick after its mother hen, if she wasn't too worried she'd lose her "cool look" in doing so. That being said, she certainly did loosen up the more she was around her beloved.
The couple had been together for so long that they had finally decided to moving onto the next step: Meeting the family. Savannah didn't have any blood relations, or at least, none that were present in her life anymore, but Tove had a brother, Kinak and from what Tove had said about him, Savannah was eager to make his acquaintance. She had also been told that she very likely might meet Kinak's own lovemate, Nash. She didn't hear as much about Nash, but she had high hopes about meeting the two of them.
"So," She said, walking alongside Tove, with Ace meandering behind the two mares. "Where exactly are we meeting them?"

"He should be somewhere up ahead," Tove stammered, wings fluttering nervously. She kept her head down so her antlers did not tangle into anything. The path was pretty clear despite everything, her brother being large enough to need the space. She kept swerving to press against Savannah, taking solace in the other mare. Her brother was imposing to say the least. What if he didn't approved of Savannah? What if Savannah did not approve of him or Nash? What if Nash did not approve of her? Beginning to almost hyperventilate with nerves, Tove's legs suddenly buckled and she tipped forward. Blinking a few times, she slowly rose to an odd sitting position. Her ears sank as did her heart.
"Savannah....how are you so confident?" she laughed nervously, "I am scared...oddly enough?" Kinak was sunning himself in the field he told his sister to meet him at. Opening one eye in a lazy fashion, he nosed the cat in front of him. "Nishka...my sister is not here. Can you use your cat powers and find her? I do not wish to fall asleep before she finds us," rumbled the huge stallion. Chuckling deeply to himself, the giant rose to his hooves casting a large shadow across the red feline walker. Shaking the melting frost from his hair, the giant meandered to a shady spot to continue his catnap.

Nash had been lounging beside his mate, more or less leaning on him when Kinak spoke up to wonder where his sister was. The smaller catwalker yawned and stretched his paws out in front of him while the huge stallion talked, but he froze at the words that came out of the other's mouth. "Cat powers??" he repeated with a snort of amusement. "That's not really... a thing, Kinak. You know that right?" Still laughing slight, he got up to his feet and then shifted forms to his small cat shape. "But if you mean, can I go and scout around to see if they're close, sure." Padding after the other for a moment, he purred and rubbed the length of his body against Kinak before walking off into the trees.
He kept to the shadows more or less instinctively rather than out of any desire to actually be sneaky, ears pricked for any sounds that might indicate the white mare and her mate were close by. He'd heard a lot about Tove before, but not the other she was bringing with her, so he was curious. It wasn't long before he picked up on the sounds of conversation and crept closer - wanting to get a look at them before going back to tell Kinak they were nearby.
He decided to climb a tree for a better vantage point and wound up draped over a thick branch just above head height, watching them with ears pricked forward and tail-tip twitching. He wondered if they would notice him or not... he wasn't really trying very hard to hide, but his coloration did mostly blend in with the surroundings.

Savannah wasn't quite sure why her darling, dearest was acting so nervous. Sure, Tove was somewhat of a skittish mare and always seemed to tread into new situations as though she were walking across eggshells, but this was her brother they were meeting up with, so what could be the problem? If anyone was to be nervous, it ought to be Savannah herself, but as she answered Tove,
"My dear, I am confident because you are with me. With you at my side, I fear not a thing! Well, nothing except your unhappiness, sweetheart." She added and nuzzled Tove's cheek affectionately. In her mind, the image of the silhouette with glowing green eyes of fire came to her mind and she shuddered. Nothing, except for losing Tove and coming into contact with another walker, she thought, but there was no need to bother her beloved with this information. There was no chance she'd need to know about her one weakness anytime soon.
"Besides, I am eager to meet your brother. He sounds like a fine stallion! I will be happy to be in his company!" They walked on for a bit and then suddenly, Savannah felt it. The uneasiness sneak into her gut. It had no reason for being there, Savannah thought, but her ears started turning all about and her eyes starting darting about. "AH, here we are! Did he mention a clearing?" She inquired, hoping to have eased Tove's nerves about the meeting and hoping that her own tight stomach would relax once they got to meet this... Kinak fellow. Why on earth was she suddenly so tense?Manda Oh, poor Savannah. Meeting Nash is sure to be a dreadful shock for her. xD

Just after the two mares passed below the tree he was in, Nash turned and made his way back to the ground. It seemed like they hadn't noticed him, but maybe that was a good thing? With a small shrug, the cat streaked through the forest back to his mate's side. "They're pretty close, I'll go lead them here," he said with a quick rub against the huge stallion's legs.
Then he was off again before Kinak could even reply. Shifting back to his horse form as he toward the next clearing over, Nash smiled when he spotted the visitors again. "Hi!" he called out, ducking out of the trees. "Tove and ... Savannah? I'm Nash, Kinak is in the next clearing," he introduced himself - having not a clue that his species could possibly scare anyone.

Savannah didn't get a chance to hear Tove's reply, because suddenly her legs locked and she froze. Her heart began to speed up and she breathed in the scents around her. Was there something here? Her eyes moved around the scene again. Nothing there, nothing there, noth-
Then she saw it. Her ears flattened and her nostrils flared. The mare began to tremble at first and then her body was shaking so much that she felt dizzy from it. The creature wore a pelt, like the other she had seen, but this one wore the pelt of a cat and it hadn't hooves, but feline claws and on its back were leathery bat wings. She had never seen anything quite as like it before and the memory of green fire eyes came to her in a flash.
For a moment, her world was engulfed in darkness and she was back in the cave, feeling claws score her flanks as she struggled to get away. She had screamed herself hoarse then and the thin scar marks on her flanks ("marks from my adventuring days!" she had once boasted) were suddenly bleeding gashes again. She shook, reduced to silent tears for a moment, until she saw the burning emerald gaze of the bearwalker and everything clicked back into reality.
The skinwalker's words were lost on her and she let out a choked sob, eyes looking for means of escape, but instead they found Tove's gaze. Fear racked through Savannah's body, but she still moved forward towards the walker, tears in her eyes and planted her hooves directly between Tove and the monster. "Tove, run." She said, voice quavering. "Don't look back, just... take Ace and run!" Her head swung back to look at her beloved once more before she cried. "RUN!"
Pinning her ears and the whites of her eyes showing from her panic, Savannah ignored the flight response that was screaming at her and ducked her head, charging at the horrible skinwalker, in order to protect the ones she cared most about.Manda Ohhh, this is gonna be embarrassing once she realizes (or tries to) Nash isn't evil. sweatdrop

"I send Nishka to go get Tove and he takes forever," moaned Kinak as he plodded through the trees picking the best way carefully for his large frame. He breath came in annoyed puffs, the lack of sleep over the nerves of meeting up with the sister he had lost catching up with him. Suddenly his ears pricked. Someone was screaming? The giant took a deep breath. The smell of cat filled his senses. Was Nash being attacked?
"Nishka!" Kinak roared pushing his way through the underbrush. He burst into the scene in time for Nash to slam into his chest. Lowering his antlered head and narrowing his deep blue eyes, Kinak carefully stepped over Nash's prone form.
"Nishka stay down," warned Kinak, his voice a deep thundering rumble. He reared showing the attacker his full strength and size. As his unseen hooves crashed to the ground, he roared, "Stop this! Nishka is mine! Fight with him you fight with me!""Tove pressed herself against Ace as Savannah seemed to go mad with her memories. She cried out as her lovemate attacked her brother's. But something did not add up... He was a skinwalker? Her brother had never told her he was a skinwalker. Veslo had warned her they were evil but how would her brother fall for an evil creature?
She ignored Ace's pleas to flee as he brother crashed into the scene. "Kinak!" she yelped, her wings shivering with an influx of emotions. He pointed his tines at Savannah as he loomed protectively over the skinwalker. She rushed to Savannah's side and slid inbetween her brother and her mate flaring her delicate frosted wings. "Brother! Savannah! Please!" she begged near tears. She heard a deep unhappy rumble from her brother as he attempted to peer over her wings, but the giant made no other threatening movement. belloblossom They have never seen a skinwalker. xD Kinak just thinks Nash weird.

Nash stared as one of the two mares - the one he assumed wasn't related to Kinak because of her coloration - suddenly seemed to go crazy. Her eyes were pinned on him as if he was terrifying her somehow and she looked like she'd bolt at any moment. Instead of taking off, though, she instead screamed at the other mare to run and then charged at him. Taken completely off-guard by the attack, Nash let out a startled yowl as he was knocked to the ground. One wing was trapped under him and the other flailed at the air uselessly. He tried scrambling back to get up to his feet again before she trampled on something important but then...
Kinak was suddenly there, standing over him. Nash hadn't even realized that part of why he was on the ground was colliding with his mate's chest. Breathing heavily, he scooted back more, putting the giant stallion between him and crazy-mare. "I'm all right," he muttered lowly and carefully go to his feet, ignoring the order to stay down. He wasn't seriously hurt and like hell was he going to just lay there. If this turned into a bigger fight, he would rather be on his feet.
Thankfully, Kinak's sister seemed to want to stop things from getting worse, and put herself in between his mate and the other mare, trying to use her flimsy-looking wings to block their view of each other. Nash immediately admired her for standing up to Kinak, no matter what else was going on. "I think ... there's some confusion here?" he spoke up from behind the giant.belloblossom XDD oh poor Savannah *pets her gently* Whoan Kinak, Nash's big strong protector heart

Savannah was scared, more scared than she had ever been in her life, even when she had met that dreadful bearwalker. Now, she feared for Tove's safety and when the mountain of a stallion came down upon her and stood protectively against the monster she was facing off again, Savannah was certain she would be killed.
She couldn't think straight, couldn't seem to understand why the world had suddenly turned backwards. "Why are you protecting him? He's a skinwalker!" Her cry was shrill and she took a step back from the beast, shaking all over. She felt as though she would fall over at any given moment. "He'll kill you!" Her cheeks were damp with tears and she was beginning to get dizzy from shortness of breath.
Whenever she closed her eyes, she could only see green fire and with the scene in front of her unbearable, Savannah's cowardice took over. The dun mare let out a heartbroken wail and ran, the one thing she was actually good at. She ran from the clearing, leaping over anything that might trip her up and put good distance between her and that demonic being. She couldn't face another walker, she couldn't ignore her flight instinct and now... Since leaving Tove there... She could never forgive herself either.
Eventually, she stopped beside a riverside and buckled. She tucked in her legs towards her and began to feel very small and very sick. She sobbed, she shook and her chest heaved. She could never get up from this, all stories of her former heroics would be transformed into tales of her cowardice. She didn't understand. She was supposed to go meet Tove's brother and his lovemate. Tove had described her brother as perfectly sane and good-natured. So how on earth had this happened?Whoan Ace is still with Tove, Kinak and Nash. By the way. Manda Well, who's gonna go after her? If anyone. xD

Said "skinwalker" blinked as the mare who attacked him yelled something about him killing someone and ... yea, now he was even more confused. Who was he supposed to be killing here? Kinak? Yea, not happening. And he wasn't planning to hurt anyone else, either so ... where was her fear coming from? He started to wonder if she was seriously crazy. Or maybe she ... had a bad experience with another Soquili that looked like him in the past? But then, what was a "skinwalker"? Too many questions, not enough answers.
Before he could ask any of them out loud, though, the mare suddenly turned tail and ran like she had demons chasing her. With a small sigh, Nash stepped out from behind Kinak. "I'm not sure what's going on but... she seems to have some kind of problem with me. I'll go after her, see if I can straighten this out. Obviously I don't want to kill anyone, that's... ridiculous."
With a soft purring noise, he rubbed his nose against Kinak's neck for a moment. "I know I can't really ask you not to follow at all, but ... give me some space?" he requested. Then he took off after the mare, easily following the tracks she had left since she hadn't been trying to hide her trail in any way. Once he got close enough to see her, Nash paused for a moment, thinking. Maybe... it would be better if he was smaller? Would that be less frightening somehow?
With that thought in mind, he shifted to his cat form before going closer to her. "Hey," he called out softly from a short distance away. "I ... don't really know why you're scared of me. But I don't want to hurt anyone. Definitely not kill anyone. I promise."belloblossom Nash to the ... rescue????

Savannah's chest heaved as she tried to release all the tension that had clouded her mind earlier. She fixed her eyes on the river beside her, knowing full well that closing her eyes and seeing the green fire of the past would only spark her flight response to make her run again. Why did she have to be such a cowardly mare?
She was breathing deeply, trying to assure herself that nothing was coming after her, when she caught the scent of something unpleasant nearby. Her ears twitched and she willed herself not to start crying again. "If you're going to kill me, can you do it quickly?" She said, her voice breaking. "No... No games like your kinsfolk, if you please."
But his words confused her to know ends. They almost sounded kind, as opposed to the malice that had been clear in the voice of the bear. It prompted her to look over at him, to observe his wings and his feline appearance. There was nothing remotely natural about his appearance, but... Maybe she would listen to him. What more did she have to lose, if he had already finished off her beloved? Maybe if this all was some ploy to gain her trust and then kill her, then at least she could join Tove in the meadows beyond this world and... Oh Angeni above, okay.
"I'm scared of you because you're a skinwalker." She snorted, almost amused. "And everyone knows that skinwalkers are monsters. They wear the pelts of animals they've slain right out of their baskets and then they can become the animal they've killed." She looked over the monster-cat, "No other species in this realm or the next can transform into a beast, but a walker." She pinned her ears as green fire tempted her into attacking or fleeing or something, but she resisted. What was the point?
"I've met one of your kinsfolk, you know." She went on. "So it's not as though I'm making this up-though you're living proof that I'm not, really. She took the coat of a bear, this hulking black creature with green runes burned into its coat. Her eyes were the most memorable, of course, for they were made of green fire." Her voice dripped with loathing. "I was young, I had only been curious to what sort of creature inhabited the cave, perhaps a wolf, I had thought? But no, instead my curiousity was punished." She stood up and shook her blanket off of her then, revealing three scars that ran across her rump, jagged and ugly to look at. "A permanent reminder of what trusting a walker got me. I should have run the first moment I saw her, trusted my gut and ran. Yet I ran when I saw you, in the end, and you still found me." She gave a grand sigh. "I'll never be rid of your kind."
She bent her head to pick up her blanket and with a swing of her head and the lightness of the cloth, she laid it on her back again. "Well, I won't run this time, so let's get this over with, shall we? Just, try not to mar my beautiful blanket with my blood too much, eh?" Bargaining with a monster, heh, that was new.Whoan Aaaah, she thinks Tove is already dead if Nash came after her. My precious babbin's *snuggles them both* She'll be so shocked/happy/confused when Tove is still alive and well!

Kinak huffed, a frown crossing his muzzle. "Always wanting to be the hero, my little Nishka," he snorted. Looking down at the shivered form of his sister and the weird goat her mate left behind he sighed. He was no jarl. He knew not how to lead others. But here he was....with others...alone...
"Sister, calm down. If you wish to find mate you must be calm. Come here, lean on me. Goat can you track your female?" he rumbled awkwardly pushing Tove back to her hooves and leaned against his side. He used his muzzle to keep her standing in place.
"Come Tove. Nishka is not evil but we should not leave him alone for long. We need to explain to your love that Nishka is dumb, not evil."Tove was crying softly. She was upset that she has frightened her lovemate by having Kinak bring his. She was upset that she did not know Nash was a skinwalker. And she was upset that her brother once again had to mother her.
"Ace...can you please help us find Savannah?" she asked in a soft small voice. She moved to follow the goat, her legs shaking and Kinak constantly keeping her upright against him. It was a slow journey.

Nash blinked at her explanation of "skinwalkers". What. "Whoa whoa. I think ... maybe you have me confused with some other ... thing?" he muttered, sitting down and curling his tail around his paws. His head was tilted to one side, face scrunched up in his own confusion. "I haven't killed anything to change forms. Or get a pelt. I've always been able to do this, for as long as I can remember. I think I'd also remember killing something to get...powers or whatever?" His wings flicked out and back in, a nervous sort of twitch.
He stared at the scars that she had revealed with a small wince. "I'm sorry if someone else hurt you but... I'm not like that. I only kill things to eat. Because I can't just eat... you know, grass and stuff. I actually tried for a while, that didn't work out so well." He snorted softly, remembering how thin and sick he was for a little while. "And even then, it's just small things! Like, you know. Rabbits and such," he continued quickly. He really wasn't sure if this was reassuring at all since he was still admitting he killed things? But nothing like another Soquili! Geez.
"I promise," he repeated, staring at her from his spot. "I won't hurt you. Or your mate, or Kinak. Kinak is my mate... I love him."

Savannah fixed a suspicious eye on the winged cat, sizing him up. He claimed that he wouldn't kill her, he claimed that he loved Kinak (that was new) and he claimed that he only killed to eat. It was when he said that he did not mean to harm her mate, as though Tove might be still alive, that she began to hope again. If he had really only come after her and not harmed the others... She stared at him for a long while and then let out a long sigh.
"I've got nothing to lose, I suppose." She said after a long while. "But if you ever make a move against me or anyone I care about, I will know you have been lying-just like your retched species does-and I will become the hunter in that moment." She stomped a hoof onto the ground below and then sighed again. "Alright, let's go... Face the others." She said, mostly to herself, despite looking at the cat when she said it.
"I'm Savannah, by the way." She said, beginning to walk back towards the forest and back towards the clearing she had abandoned, even if she was a little lost and didn't quite know how to go about getting there. "What do I call you, 'walker?"Ace was thoroughly appalled by the whole ordeal. She wasn't quite sure what to expect from anything and she thought Savannah so brave to stand up in front of the walker and attack them, but then her bonded fled in tears, leaving Ace behind with near strangers. The goat's nostrils flared with indigence at the whole scene that was laid before her and she whirled around to the two siblings.
"Well, you lot have certainly made a mess of things!" The goat snapped and she walked right up to the giant horse and stared him down. "You had no right spooking her like you did! If you didn't notice, your pussycat companion has giant claws and fangs and bat wings and the skin of another creature on his back. While that might be your normal, that looks like he's wearing a 'look at me, I'm evil!' sign on his flank for all others to see! " She turned to the sniveling Tove, not having any of it, "You couldn't have warned us that your brother's boyfriend was a carnivore?" Back to Kinak. "And in what universe would a regular mare be able to best a clawed batty-cat? None! If your colt-friend had made a move at her, her innards would be her outtards, no need for you to come in and threaten the poor thing!" The goat glared at the two of them for a long moment and then gave a huff.
"I will lead you two to Savannah, but while we walk, I expect you both to think up good apologies to my bonded when we find her." She said, before moving off, her tail high in the air. They may or may not have been completely in the right or wrong, but ha! She sure showed them regardless of faults!Whoan Ace is tempered as "Gutsy" for a reason. Nash breathed a small sigh of relief when the mare chose to trust him - at least for the moment. Even though he was fairly confident in being able to fight or run away from threats, he hadn't really been sure what to do in the face of such ... defeat. In the face of her apparently giving up hope entirely. He offered her what he hoped was an encouraging smile and got to his paws, following a short distance behind her.
"I'm Nash. I'm not sure if you consider it nice or not, really but... it's nice to meet you," he replied with a small flick of his tail. For the moment, he chose to stay in his cat form since he somehow thought that would be less frightening? He was definitely smaller like this, anyway. They walked silently for a few minutes... until the cat couldn't stand it anymore.
He stopped, staring at the other for a moment before blurting out, "You're going the wrong way. The others are... " He turned, facing at an angle to where she'd been walking. "Back that way."
