Espresso was, at least at this moment, the single most amazing thing ever...his partner falling to second place. His partner was nice and snug at home, sleeping, in there bed. He was stuck out here on a patrol - freezing! His uniform was warm, considering it’s many layers, but it just wasn’t enough given how damn cold it was - it was snowing damn it!
But he had some energy to gather, he’d been busy with other members of his team so had fallen a touch behind. Not to mention he had been grading things, when wasn’t he, and between the two things plus his other sorta job...he had fallen behind.
The hot drink was keeping his gloved hands warm and filling him with a nice warmth, something he appreciated right now, as he stood on a rooftop overlooking one of the cities many little districts. Sipping the warm drink he really wished for something warm to curl up against or next to so he could drown in the warmth...cause while the warmth from the espresso was nice - it was a tease. He was hoping to turn and go home soon so he could crawl into bed and warm up while falling asleep.

There were a few things that Super Sailor Kari liked about being the stage she was at…she felt stronger, she felt more confident…and she held more…weight as a senshi now. But. There were also quite a few things she didn’t like about it, and most of those things had to do with the upgrade she got to her outfit. She missed her pants. Especially on cold nights like this, when the wind blew and the tops of her legs froze so quickly…she really missed the pants that were under her old fuku.
And her neck…fluff. Boy did she ever miss that. She still had some, there was a little fluff to keep her neck warm, but…it wasn’t the same. Not the same at all.
And she still had that space below her shoulders that got very cold from the weather as well…even though it seemed as though this outfit had tried to fix that issue…the hole was still there.
Tonight, the senshi walked, head bent against the cold and the snow, arms folded across her chest, shivering. She was heading home, and lord even knew why she had ventured out in this mess anyway! Nothing had been accomplished…other than perhaps getting some frostbite in her fingers…
Hell, she was too numb with cold to even notice the strong chaotic aura coming from the roof above her.

While she had missed him he had most certainly not missed her signature. He had felt her approach and was surprised when it continued on towards him, the senshi had to feel him. Yet the signature continued, not faster or slower from what he could tell, until he was looking down from his rooftop at the figure. Well...they seemed to not even notice him - was their radar broken or something?
This was strange, very strange. Deciding to investigate he jumped down from the roof top, despite how he might easily be seen and figured for one of the cities many ‘terrorists’ and followed her. Would she notice him?
For the moment this was, for him anyway, a game. He wanted to see when she would notice him. Sipping his drink as he followed a few feet behind her, one hand in his pocket and the other holding onto the half full drink cup.

Finally it began to register to Kari that something wasn’t quite right, and honestly, it wasn’t until she heard the footsteps behind her. Finally she felt the full weight of the chaotic aura against her and she paused, swallowing hard. This wasn’t Stella, or Epidote…this wasn’t anyone she knew, she was sure of it. Slowly, the super senshi turned to see just who it was…and hope that they weren’t going to attack her. She wasn’t…She didn’t like being attacked. “Oh. Hello there…I uh…Can I help you?” Maybe if she went to her old tactic…give them what they wanted…offer to let him drain her…whatever. Maybe that would work…maybe that would get him to go away… Maybe. There were too many maybes in this plan but…she was sure that she wouldn’t make it far if she tried to run…that was if she could run. She was quite sure her joints were frozen by now.

“I see - you’re not broken. Just slow.” He stated while watching the super senshi. She had finally noticed him, it just took her a while. He did, for a moment, wonder why. Something had her distracted no doubt, unless there was some internal radar like they all seemed to have and hers was...broken or something. Who knows anymore - this was all magic.
“I do wonder though...why are you out on a night like this...in such an outfit and with nothing to cover it.” Nothing to give warmth. He used to cover his own uniform at times - had to. There were nights where his uniform was not enough, despite it’s layers, so he would yank a coat on over it even if it looked very odd given the length of his coat and cape.
“Do tell, what kept you from noticing me? I know for a fact my signature is hard to miss.” Since it was hard to miss an eternal senshi or a knight.

The senshi opened her mouth to make a retort, frowning. She wasn’t slow! That was…that was really rude. “I-I’m not broken or slow. I’m just cold. And distracted. I’m trying to get home, that’s all…so I’d…like it if we kept this short. What, do you want energy or something? I have energy, I’ll give you some if you just let me go.” Great. She had fallen so far that now she was bartering with her energy to every person she met? That was no way to get through life…in fact, that was a very bad idea…but tonight… Tonight her bed was calling her with a sad voice…her blankets would be warm and she had hot chocolate at home…and she wanted to be there to enjoy those things. Letting out a breath, she held her hand out to Benitoite. “Skin to skin, right? Here. Take some and let me go, okay?”

“And obviously trying to die, or at least not caring if death comes for you. You didn’t notice my signature...that could easily spell death for you.” And she no doubt knew it. She may not know him personally but he was still a General. It was a rank earned and spelled out how unkind he could be to the other side, without a doubt. He wasn’t one who could easily be swayed to the other side, unlike some, nor was he the sort to play nice. If he was nice...there was a reason for it.
“Oh no - that’s not it. You had me curious...coming right towards me and then walking by me...without noticing.” It was obviously something he’d been interested in, and he let that seep into his voice.
“You freely offer energy...most would never. Tell me - why offer? Why trust me not to just kill you or leave you here unconscious?” He would do neither...but he was curious why she was trusting him so damn much. “Has the cold really gotten to you so much?” He’d never seen a senshi, or knight, behave like this and he was interested. Maybe he could turn her into some sort of trusting little senshi...it would be amusing and maybe even helpful...and he wouldn’t even need to torture her!

She shrugged off his words. You got dumb in the cold, that was all there was to it. She was so focused on trying to get home…nothing else was important…she thought that was understandable, at least. As to his words about the energy, Kari shrugged again. “I mean…you need it, right? It’s not the first time I’ve donated, and it won’t be the last…it’s just…it’s just what I do. I mean…I don’t know that you won’t kill me or leave me here to freeze to death, but I figure I have a better chance of you letting me go alive, if you’re getting something from me…so…so I’m offering.” She was trembling, mostly from the cold, but enough fear was adding to that. This guy was dangerous, she knew it…and she didn’t like it. She could attack, sure…but she really figured it wouldn’t do much “So…please. Just…take some energy and let me go home. I’m not doing anything to you…”

“You’ve donated before...willingly?” He questioned her. Was she...looking to die? Anyone could take advantage of her and he was surprised none had thus far. For a moment he did consider how useless she might be, someone this willing to stick her neck out into danger was just...not worth courting and trying to manipulate into anything much less the Negaverse - she was dangerous to herself.
But if she changed sides perhaps she wouldn’t be so prone to such actions, whether due to changing sides or training - proper training.
Was she worth it...the was the question...and he wanted to find out, oddly enough.
“Go home, it’s cold. Taking energy will only make it worse. It’s not good for your health. I’ll see you again - I’m sure of it. Then you can tell me why you trust so freely...and give so easily. Just wear a coat over that uniform.” He said shaking his head. She really needed to work on things, to help herself...and perhaps now to help him as well.

“Of course I’ve donated willingly. It’s all I can do in this war. I’m a terrible fighter and…I’m not confident at all. So, saving people by letting myself be drained is all I can do.”
If he wasn’t going to take her energy though…she wasn’t going to question it. Instead, Kari withdrew her hand and crossed her arms over her chest, shivering violently now. “If you’re just going to let me go though…fine. Yeah. Sure.”
She didn’t want to see this person again, she really didn’t…but if he was so sure of it…well.
Well that was something she would have to deal with at a later date. “Have a good night. Stay warm. I think you should get back home soon too, you know.”
Nobody deserved to freeze to death.
