Sherry hadn't been spending too much time in the Labs area... or well anything dealing with Life lately. Mostly because she'd spent most of 2016 digging around in the dirt off island (which had been glorious) and since she'd been back she'd been picking up shifts here and there helping out with things. It was a nice way to ease back into island life. (Aside from that whole being a teenager thing again...that had killed a good week.)

Sometimes, though, one felt the need to poke around and say 'hi'. Check in and such. Not that she had a lot to report on that wasn't getting reported on already, she was sure.

Still, Sherry was making her way down the hall towards the main offices of her Lead. Because why not?

Sherry, usually polite, did knock once before letting herself in the door. She didn't really feel the need to pause - she trusted that if H wanted privacy the door would be closed. Her eyes did a quick scan of the room, just double checking that she wasn't interrupting anything too important, but it seemed like he was alone with his paperwork. Good, probably an okay time to stop in.

"Oh, thank you. It's good to be back," Sherry replied. "Good to see you again, too." She smiled at that, because it was true.

"I just thought I'd drop in and say hi." Her eyes flicked around the room, nerves setting in a little bit. Her eyes fell on a red and white card that she remembered making. Oh, heavens. Sherry was one part mortified (who said "super great"?) and three parts very pleased. He liked it enough to put it next to interesting things? Awww. She didn't think half of those cards would be appreciated, but it was touching to know that this one was.

Sherry looked back at the the doctor. "And update you on uh... that gold ring I mentioned quite a while back, if you remember it."

Sherry knew that was a sign it was okay to continue.

"So, the ring wouldn't come off, but other than that nothing of note really happened for a while. But then I thought I was going to die, so I asked Mark, the Death Assistant, a question. Truth, I asked for truth, and I think it worked. He answered honestly." She didn't think he realized that was what happened, and wow. She was kind of a terrible person, wasn't she? She'd have to make it up to him.

Sherry sighed. "That wasn't a big deal. But then had a run in with, um," Sherry looked at H and wondered just how much he knew about the whole Carl thing. She had told Mark she wouldn't go blabbing about it, though. Much as she trusted H, she had also promised Mark. "With Caelius. And, um, the dragon that gave me the ring -we're calling him Steve- demanded I kill him. Caelius. Now, I couldn't do that, so I didn't, and Steve got mad and tried to do it anyway. Obviously that didn't happen, nobody died." She was really happy about that.

"So, yeah. That's all." She didn't mention messing up the hallway in front of the Death office. Was that important? She really hoped not. "Steve, the ring, has been quiet since then. Mark knows what happened, too."

"Maybe," Sherry said. "Probably." Yeah, it was likely a monkey's paw type thing, no matter how much she didn't want it to be. It was easier to brush Mark off when he talked about costs, but with H joining in... Sherry sighed.

It was intriguing though, to hear about another similar artifact. She might just have to investigate that. Questions started to fill her mind about it, but the H said something that really struck a cord with Sherry.

"Terms," she repeated. "That probably would have been a good thing to ask in the beginning." She chided herself.

"Do you think," she looked at H, "it's safe to try? I don't know if it will work. Steve seemed pretty mad I didn't want to kill anybody."

Sherry nodded, soaking up those words. "That is honestly the best advice I've heard about all of this, thank you."

She paused for a moment. "You mentioned a similar artifact. Was it related to large yellow dragons?"

"You think so? I would like to, if I could. If it is somehow related if might help me figure out what I'm working with. May I know who exactly the lucky person is?" Sherry was taking her notepad out of her pocket.

"Of course," Sherry tried not to look too disappointed.. "I suppose it'll be good for me." She still wrote in her notebook. Artifact. Truth.

"Is there, um, anything else I could look into? Since I'm going to be poking around."

For half a moment she thought he was going to give her a really good lead. "Oh," she said, realizing he was warning her out of the basement and not giving her a hint. "Okay, thanks."

She was fidgeting with her ring. It was probably a good time to leave but now she had to ask -because not asking would leave her wondering- "What kind of dark influence? Not related to the things like my ring, right?" She was still wary of calling them by name. "Sorry, I just, I've been looking for all kinds of information and there's not much about some of them."
