 ((I haven't seen a post of you so far, so I guess I'll just start at the home lol. Nor do I see time and date anywhere so will go with like Sunday morning o-o ))
As a new day dawned in this glorious weekend, the sun was slowly climbing higher in the sky. The first hours of the sunrise went unnoticed by the young boy that was sleeping in the smaller room on the first floor. The room was still sheltered from most of the light, a book laying next to his bed half open and upside-down as if he had fallen asleep with it the night before and fell on the floor as he slept. His room was a bit chaotic with some clothes on the floor as well as books in a corner and paper scattered through the room. Most were drawn on in several colors.
It was true that Kai was no picasso but he tried at least. The only sound that could be heard in the room was the boy's calm breathing as he slept. This only changed a bit when Kai hummed a bit as the sun started to shine through his window and on his face through a crack between the curtains. The boy squinted a bit before his eyes slowly opened and one arm went up to shelter his eyes from the sun now shining in his eyes. He sat up, slightly disorientated for a moment as he was still waking up from the dream he had been having, before he yawned and rubbed his eyes.
Still slightly sleepy, he got up from his bed and walked to the window. After opening his curtains he looked outside and at the beach that lay before the house he was in. Kai leaned on the window sail and looked at the ocean that stretched out before him. A smile played over his lips before he stretched himself, only stopping when his stomach growled a bit in protest and he decided to the kitchen. Though he wasn't able to cook or anything, he was perfectly capable to get himself some cereals. It was easy, quick and the boy loved the chocolate pops his aunt had in the house for him.
When he got to the kitchen he walked to the fridge and opened it, looking through the products inside. When he found the milk he reached for it but it was out of his reach. This didn't dishearten the inventive boy however and he walked to the dinner table and started to slide on of the chairs to the fridge. He wanted to do it himself so he wouldn't wake his aunt for it. Once the chair stood near enough, Kai climbed on the seat and picked up the milk from the shelf in the fridge with two hands, placing it on the table next to him. He then moved the chair to the closet.
Kai knew that the cereals were kept in one of the top closets and opened two up at once, immediately spotting his box and he smiled picking it up and then placed that on the table too. It was this movement however where he placed one feet a bit to far and caused to chair to topple over. Thankfully Kai was able to move his balance and while the chair fell to the floor with a thud, he landed on the counter just below. He knew that wasn't what he was supposed to do, but it was that or fall as well. Once he stood firmly once more he sighed of relief and looked at the ground. It looked like all that had fallen was the chair, not his cereals or the milk.
Kai smiled once he recovered from the initial shock and he got off the counter before he moved the chair back on it's legs with some difficulty and then just continued with what he was doing, opening a lower closet and taking out a bowl as well as a spoon from one of the drawers. Now he had everything he needed, the closets were closed and he made his breakfast without any more incidents. He did spoil some milk but he didn't take note of it and just placed the milk in the fridge, on a lower shelf he could reach easily and then started to eat his breakfast in the living room.

Often waking up in the morning is a magical experience for 'Aulani. There is something marvelous about waking up at the crack of dawn with the sun barely rising over the horizon. She loves to get up and watch the sun rise while eating breakfast of some kind, preferably loco moco. However this morning she tried waking up and found herself having a splitting headache. She isn't sure except for maybe she stayed up a bit too late last night trying to figure out places in newspapers and on the Internet that are hiring. Throughout her searching she has found one place that she is interested in visiting after Jiron Kai, her "Little Ohana", is taken to school. That is, if he has school today and if he doesn't, she will have to take him with her to this place called Blue Moon Dance and Bar Company. Instead of getting up and dealing with the pain so she can see the rising sun, she decided to stay in bed hoping the headache will go away. Surprisingly this decision worked out better than she anticipated. This doesn't mean that she doesn't need an aspirin to help her deal with the remaining bit of the headache that is left but at least she can get up, have breakfast and enjoy the view with her Little Ohana. Unfortunately she thinks that she may have woken up a bit too late and it is likely that Jiron is already up and wanting to have breakfast. Quickly she got up from bed and put on a dress and her glasses before going to the kitchen. Upon arriving at the kitchen, the first thing she noticed was her Little Ohana eating a bowl of his favorite cereal. It made her wonder how did he managed to get the cereal and the milk. What gave her a clue was some of the spilled milk on the counter, a mess that she clean up with a paper towel and a little bit of cleaning solution. She went toward her Little Ohana, held his head briefly and gave him a kiss on his forehead before saying to him,

Kai had gotten up from the couch at one point to turn on the television and zapped till he found cartoons. When he went back to the couch he picked up his cereal from the table again too and he placed it on the small table to the side of the couch and folded his legs before he continued to eat his cereals. Kai could sit like this for hours if he had to. Whether that was needed or not, depended on how late his aunt woke up and if there were plans. When 'Aulani walked into the room, the young boy was watching a weekend special of a child channel.
His cereals were all but cold still, and he was distracted by the tv, not even realizing his aunt came into the room. When something funny happened in the show he laughed and that was also when 'Aulani came into his view, taking hold of his head and kissing his forehead. "Maikai kakahiaka koʻuʻanakē" he replied and smiled giving her a hug after he said good morning back. "I can get my breakfast. I'm a big boy!" he said and chuckled.
The passed weeks he had slowly become much more independent and willing to try stuff on his own without asking anyone for help. In Kai's eyes he was already a big boy that could take care of himself. And he tried to live as such, no matter how many problems it sometimes caused. "Can we go surfing Aunt 'Aulani?" he then asked.

'Aulani hugged Jiron when he hugged her. This was only for a brief moment as she had to go back to the kitchen to make herself some breakfast. What should she make today? As much as she would like to have some loco moco, thats too much to cook and eat in the morning for her. Upon opening the fridge, she noticed that the milk isn't where she last put it. That explains the mess she had to clean up before. Jiron certainly has learned how to maneuver around the house to help himself, which made her think she will have to figure out how to keep him away from the sweets should he ever decide to spoil dinner early. After moving the milk back to where it belongs, she pulled out a carton of eggs and leftover white rice. From the pantry she brought out salt and pepper to season the eggs with and from one of the bottom cabinets, a small frying pan to fry the eggs with. She turned on the heat on the stove top, pulled out two eggs from the carton after setting everything she brought out and cracked them over the frying pan before placing over the flames. She lightly seasoned the eggs with salt and pepper before taking out a plate from one of the upper cabinets, put some rice on another frying pan with a fork, turned on another burner and placed the frying pan on top of the burner with the intention of reheating the rice. It was at this point that Jiron asked her if they can go surfing. She certainly doesn't have a problem with this but she needed to make sure whether he had school or not today, not to mention that she has to go out job hunting first.

Kai watched his aunt as she went to the kitchen and made her breakfast. It was only for a moment though, before he turned his attention back at the television. He looked up again when she answered him about surfing and at first he felt a little disappointed when the answer seemed no, but he smiled happily when she agreed. "Yay! We're going surfing!" he said, just having finished his cereals as well and he got up running to the kitchen, placing the bowl on the table which he could reach before he hugged her as he listened to the rest of the answer.
The young boy grinned and shook his head, letting go of his aunt and walking to the closet opening the lower drawer which held some stuff for him like coloring books and pencils. From it he drew a calendar that the school gave him with all sorts of colors and walked back to the kitchen holding it up. "Look, it's a free day!" he said. The calendar was made in a way any child could understand it and at the same time it supported learning dates, years and the importance of appointments being kept. The yellow indicator was on the date of today, it being weekend.
He then lowered it and smiled. He always was proud of that calendar, they had been allowed to create the indicator themselves, with some help of course, so to Kai it was just as much his own work as it would have been had he done the whole.

'Aulani took the calendar from Jiron momentarily to look at today's date. For some reason she couldn't see the date very well, but she realized that her glasses had slipped off slightly so she pushed them back up and now she can see. Her nephew told the truth. Today he has a free day so the of them don't have to wait until after school to go out surfing together, but there is still one more thing that she needed to take care of. She has been without a job for sometime now and she is currently behind on a few bills. As much as she doesn't like to work, she has to make sure that her nephew and herself have something to eat. Still, she did say that she will go out surfing with her nephew so hopefully he will understand that she has to do her job hunting first. After she gave the calendar back to him, she went back to her frying pans and checked if her eggs were cooked and the rice warm enough to consume. From one of the upper cabinets she pulled out a plate and set it down on the kitchen counter before putting the rice on the plate followed by the cooked eggs. Before she would start eating, she said to him,

"What can be more important than going surfing?" he asked, but then he let out a soft laugh. It wasn't that bad if they wouldn't go surfing right away, besides he was still enjoying some of the cartoons. The boy accepted the calendar back from his aunt and smiled. "Maybe we can both use it." he said. By now he had outgrown the what's mine is mine phase and he was all to happy to share stuff with his aunt. Instead of placing the calendar back in the drawer he looked around them before he walked to the closet and placed it down there. "Now you also know what day it is." he said and chuckled. Kai went back to the television and sat back down while he waited for his aunt to be ready. He was no longer a little child that was unable to concentrate or sit still, nor was he old enough to worry to far ahead of the here and now. "I want to see a sunset again too." the boy spoke and smiled, of course meaning the staying till sunset that 'Aulani had proposed.

'Aulani smiled softly as she witnessed her nephew placing the calendar on the closet. How is she so lucky to have such a good kid living with her? She certainly feared that she wasn't going to raise him well since he had to move to a new town and didn't know the first thing about raising a child. However, the two of them are getting along, especially when the two of them get to go out surfing like she promised him they will today. For sure she will see the sunset with him since there is something magical about seeing the sunset after several hours of surfing. While still standing by the counter, she continued eating her fried egg and white rice. Those cartoons that Jiron was watching always struck her as being odd since she never watched cartoons as a child but she did find something charming about them, especially when her nephew talks about them to her in order to help her understand. As soon as she finished her breakfast, she washed her plate and fork in the kitchen sink and placed them on a towel to dry. Then she left the kitchen, went back to her room, and brushed her teeth. After brushing her teeth and fixing her hair a bit, she got out of her dress for a brief moment to change out of her underwear and into a bikini for the beach later, put the dress back on, picked up a manila folder containing her resume and went back downstairs to tell Jiron to get ready.

Kai waited for his aunt to be ready with her breakfast. Usually when he heard the word surfing, he would be impatient and try to hasten it at any cost, but this time the show he was watching was interesting enough that he didn't mind watching that first. When his aunt went upstairs to get ready, the show just ended and Kai turned off the television with the intend to go play at the beach just outside the house which he often would. His aunt was already coming back though.
Hearing his aunt's words he smiled happily and nodded. "Yay! Aright aunty." he called and quickly ran up the stairs not losing any time to get ready if it meant surfing. He had actually forgot he had to still brush his teeth but now 'Aulani had reminded him he would be sure to do so. Kai loved it that she trusted him to get ready by himself. It definitely helped him feeling like a big boy that could take care of himself, to a degree. He first went to his room and opened his closet.
It didn't take him long to find his trunks for the beach as it was at eye height since he loved swimming and surfing it was always placed there. Kai quickly got changed into the trunks and discarded his Pajamas and underwear on the floor. He wouldn't need those on the beach. Kai preferred his trunks, strongly feeling like he was to old to wear what he called 'baby swim clothes'. When he was done he went to the bathroom to brush his teeth like his aunt had told him to.
Kai wasn't one to easily protest against something, unless it was the subject homework. Thankfully he had none this time. Once all set, Kai ran back downstairs and out the door to the side of their house and picked up his surfboard. It was smaller and lighter than 'Aulani's so he could carry it himself and it was easier to steer in the water. "Come on ʻanakē." he could happily, wanting to get to the surfing as fast as possible. Kai lifted his surfboard and walked back to wait for his aunt. He wouldn't be able to lift her surfboard anyway. It would certainly fall if he tried.

Its a strange natural remedy, but ever since she been taking care of Jiron and he expressed his interest in learning how to surf, it has become just a bit more fun and satisfying to do whenever she sees the boy smiling as he rides those waves. Excited as she is about going out surfing with him, she still needs to do that one important thing. Hopefully it won't take long and if all goes well, they will be surfing before noon. As Jiron went out the door in his swim trunks carrying his surfboard, she grabbed her truck keys, her large bag that contained her wallet along with other essentials she typically would need either for herself or her nephew and her surfboard before meeting him outside. She opened the trunk of her truck and placed her surfboard in it before telling Jiron,❀ ✿ ❀ ✿ ❀ ✿ ❀ ✿ ❀ ✿ ❀ ✿ ❀ ✿ ❀ ✿ ❀ ✿ ❀ ✿ ❀ ✿ ❀ ✿ ❀ ✿ ❀ ✿ ❀ ✿ ❀ ✿ ❀ ✿ ❀ ✿ ❀ ✿ ❀ ✿ ❀ ✿ ❀ ✿ "Not yet keiki. I have to go someplace else first. When I'm done, we'll come back and get some surfing. And to make up for some lost time, I'll make you your favorite meal for dinner. As soon as Jiron placed his surfboard on the bed of the truck, she lifted it up and locked it in place. Then she entered the driver's side of the truck and unlocked the passenger door for her nephew. Once he was inside and buckled his seat belt, she turned on the engine to her truck and is now on her way to the Blue Moon Company. She hopes that this place will hire her so she no longer has to worry about putting food on the table for Jiron.

((While still needing to exit, I decided to reply here one last time before moving to the bar thread with you lol))
Without things to distract him, Kai was waiting outside rather impatiently. His love for surfing had definitely take a soaring since he came to live with his aunt here in Roatoa. Now he couldn't wait to be back on the surfboard once more, even if he wasn't as good as his aunt yet. He only just promoted from dryland practice to going in the water. Since his aunt was still inside the house, Kai placed his surfboard in the sand as he was taught and looked at the ocean right in front of the home. It wasn't as close to be a threat but it was definitely close enough to make a short run and dive in.
The boy hadn't even bothered to put on shoes, highly disliking putting anything on his feet here. Of course his father had visited and shown disapproval about it, but he considered it a phase and hadn't pressed on about wearing something on his feet. Kai kicked up some sand with his bare feet and chuckled, it kept him busy. It wasn't that long before 'Aulani joined him outside though. "Aww..." he said hearing they wouldn't go surfing right away but he nodded when he heard the rest. "Okay then, I guess that is fair." he replied, doing his best to keep a serious face but it didn't last long.
He soon laughed and picked his surfboard out of the sand before running it to the car and placing it on the truck and quickly got to the passenger door waiting for the car to be unlocked. The sooner they finished whatever his aunt had to do, the sooner they could surf was his train of thought. He didn't wait long before fastening his seatbelt. The car of his father had been one that tended to shut down the engine the moment a belt of one pressured seat was not clipped in.
Needless to say Kai had forgotten it so often he finally got into the routine to avoid the car shutting down after numerous calls out of his parents. The boy didn't know where they were going or why, but he accepted the fact so they could soon be on the way to ride the waves instead. For now he looked at where they rode passed, he did love his new home. He had yet to experience terrible weather, the people were generally cheerful and generous, of course there was also the fact of the abundance of tropical fruit even out in the wilder parts.
