"Gaahh, why's it got to be so frickin cold?" Cordelia expressed disdainfully as she entered the music shop shivering. She absolutely hated winter and prayed everyday for spring to come quickly back to the isles. Honestly that was probably one of the better reasons to live out there since they seemed to warm up quicker than most the other towns when the season finally did change back. "Miss Delia?" a tall blonde male clerk asked as he approached the dark haired Raevan. "It is you! We haven't seen you nor Miss Ebony in ages! How have you been?"Cordelia smiled at the sight of the familiar employee, glad to see that some things didn't change while she'd been gone. Though having to hear Ebony's name then sort of brought the happy vibe down a notch, the snake tried not to let it get to her. "Hey Sammie! It's so good to see you! Uh well, things have been difficult, but we're getting things back to normal these days.""Aw, I'm sorry to hear things have been tough, but I'm glad to see you are doing well again! So what'll be today? Come to get the old black beauty some professional TLC?"Floating to the back counter, Cordelia laid her case down with a laugh. "Well I did come for some maintenance, but not for that instrument. I recently got an electric violin for my birthday." Sammie couldn't help whistling as the Frei opened the case to reveal the unique looking instrument. "The craftsmanship on this one is amazing!" the clerk nodded in satisfaction before frowning and pointing towards the neck. "But what the heck happened to these strings? Every single one is snapped!"The Basilisk gave a bit of an embarrassed chuckle, "I just don't know my own strength sometimes. These were my last set aside from the ones on the other violin. I've been out of practice a bit so I think I'll need a lot more this time than usual, just in case."Sammie chuckled back, "You got it. I'll get to work on it right away. Take a look around, we've had a lot of stock overturn since your last visit.""Thanks." Delia flashed a grateful smile before floating over towards the music sheet wall.

When Ethiriel had first started learning piano, Aina and Duncan had brought her to this particular music shop. It'd been a while since she last visited, but now that she was learning more instruments it was time to come take another look. Much like Cordelia, the Sigel had decided to bring in her own violin to get looked at. She had learned to tune it, herself, but sometimes it was nice to have it cleaned and gussied up.
Henry had opted to stay in the car for this one, needing to make some important calls while he had the chance, so Ethiriel was dropped off at the door to be met up with later.
Upon entering, the Sigel was immediately met with Cordelia's smoky scent and her eyes widened in recognition. Just how long had it been since the two of them met...? Unable to remember exactly, Ethiriel merely hovered at the door, violin at her side, as she assessed the direction of the smell. When she heard the basilisk speaking with an unfamiliar clerk, she softened her grip on the case and smiled, waiting for the conversation to lull.
Once it had and Delia moved, Ethiriel hovered further into the shop.
"Cordelia?"
Her voice cut through the relative silence easily.

"Hmm?" The Basilisk had been looking over a rather complex looking sheet of music when she looked up at the sound of her name. She blinked at the unknown Sigel floating next to her then. Did she know her? Before her incident, there had only been a few Sigels that she knew of, but after so many years of course it was possible for them to be more, even ones she didn't know altogether. But this girl knew her name, so they must have met before then. As she looked the girl over, recognition finally fired across her face. "Ethiriel?! Oh wow! Look at you! How have you been? How's Leo?" The snake really hoped none of her slight disappointment was spilling through. It was just really hard to come to terms with how long she'd been stone that Freis born after her were already becoming Sigels.

Relief washed over the Sigel once Cordelia finally recognized her, but honestly Ethiriel wasn't all that surprised given the amount of time and her own growth. The Basilisk held about the same amount of magical energy as the last time they had met, so it was safe to assume that she was still Frei.
"I have been well, thank you!" she laughed, offering Delia a warm smile -- she would have offered a hug, but the strong scent of smoke burned Ethiriel's nose, as fond as she was of the Frei. It wasn't until Leo was brought into question, who had only just recently reappeared in the Raevan's life, that the serene smile faltered. Right... "He, uh... he is well. I hadn't... seen him for a while, but he is around again. He is well. And what of Miss Ebony?"

Cordelia gave a somewhat confused look. She hadn't seen her own guardian in a while? Did they not live together anymore? It wasn't that uncommon for Sigels to end up leaving their guardians and moving in by themselves, but the snake thought that perhaps someone like Ethiriel would like to have someone around rather than be completely alone. But what did she know? Delia hadn't seen the silver Raevan in years and thus maybe the girl had completely changed from what she originally remembered.
At the question of her own guardian, Cordelia couldn't help feeling that karma was a b***h. Right, she was going to have to explain this to everyone she knew in the lab every time she re-met them. Better start getting use to it now, she supposed. "Uhh well...I really don't know. She's been missing since July." The Basilisk gave her cheek a tiny scratch as she avoided eye contact. She wanted to say more, but really, what more could she say? It's not like she was around per say when her guardian decided to up and abandon the family. She sighed and pointed towards the case Ethiriel was carrying in hopes of not making this into some long awkward silence. "So, uh, what do you play?"

There was a temporary relief when Cordelia didn't press further about Leo, but that ended soon enough as Ebony was dubbed missing, herself. The Sigel's expression fell in shock and a hand quickly made its way to Ethiriel's chest. "Oh..." was all she could muster for the moment, staring in what she thought was Cordelia's direction. Thoughts of Cesc flooded her mind... He'd been missing for months already... Would he ever come back?
Snapping back into reality, Ethiriel mentally cursed herself for letting her own selfish interests cross her mind when Cordelia was obviously uncomfortable with the information about her own guardian.
As she was about to apologize and give well wishes, Ethiriel was stopped short by the basilisk moving on with conversation as if nothing had been spoken of. She blinked twice with a quick breath, trying to switch gears, before offering a torn smile and obliging in the topic change. "I actually play a few... I have brought in my violin today, but I play harp, cello, and piano... I overheard you speak of your own violin? It is rather surprising that we have an instrument in common, I would think. Do you enjoy it?"

Cordelia was grateful to the Sigel right then. Don't get her wrong, if pressed for more details, the Frei would have provided as best as she could. Yet she was very thankful that Ethiriel decided to take her up on moving the conversation to something much less depressing as missing guardians.
Silver orbs widened at the sheer amount of instruments the silver girl said she could play. "Wow, that many? That's amazing Eth! Oh, it's okay if I call you that right? You can call me Delia if you want." Absolutely thrilled to be talking about something as dear to her heart as music, Cordelia continued. "I love playing violin! I dunno what it is, but just the way you cradle it close to you and coax it to sing..." By this point the smoke Raevan had closed her eyes and started humming a tune as she pretended to play an air violin.
Stopping with a lovesick sigh, "It's just sooo satisfying! Somedays I feel the only way I can truly express myself is through the instrument. Though my granddad always likes to joke that sometimes I express too intensely and that's why my strings are always breaking. But I can't help that I get so into it!" The Basilisk gave a sort of defeated sigh, but backed it up with a little chuckle indicating that she wasn't really upset at her grandfather for making light of her unfortunate luck with strings. "So, out of all the ones you play, which instrument is your favorite?"

As Ethiriel was about to downplay how 'amazing' the amount of instruments she was currently practicing seemed to be, Cordelia asked of nicknames -- something the Sigel hadn't been putting as much thought into over the last few years. Once upon a time, she had a major penchant for using a person's full name, but lately that "proper etiquette" wasn't a major concern of hers. "Many call me 'Eth,' so it is perfectly fine for you to do the same. And if you would prefer I call you Delia, then I will." A pleasant smile spread across her face.
"I do agree. Perhaps one day you could try cello? It is very rich and rather like playing an over sized violin." While Delia's little performance was missed, the basilisk's humming wasn't, and the Sigel let out a content breath while listening. It was weak, but she was beginning to feel the slight reverberation in the air, as well.
Again... family... Was it weird that Ethiriel didn't think like that? Henry was not a brother or father to her, nor Gabe or the other Knights... They took care of her, but really, what was family to the Sigel? That train of thought momentarily distracted her from Delia's conversation, but the next question was enough to bring her back.
With her smile having never left, only softened, Ethiriel lightly placed a finger horizontally over her lip and held it there in thought. She hummed, "It is hard to say. Each has their own qualities that I enjoy... Like the way a violin or cello sends waves through my silver, or the light singing of the harp... And piano was the first instrument I had ever learned. I do not think it is possible for me to choose!" The tail end of her statement was decorated with a light laugh, soft and dainty. "I would not mind learning more, but I am limited to stringed or other instruments that do not involve large breaths. I must agree with you; music is a wonderful way to express oneself. Your broken strings are a sign of love."

Though obviously missed by Ethiriel, Cordelia blushed slight at the compliment. No one had ever put it like that before. 'A sign of love...' the smoke Raevan thought. Honestly, she never thought of it like that before. Though she did indeed love music, when she would play her violin to the point of breaking it was usually because she was pouring all of her worthless, frustrated emotions into it. She wanted to be rid of them and playing was the only way she knew how to at least subdue them for a time. After any heartfelt session, Delia was so exhausted that she had no energy to feel anything expect tired. And perhaps a little exhilarated, hot adrenaline coursing through her cold-blooded veins was always a rush.
"Your words are too kind. But thank you." Cordelia couldn't help bowing her head a tad at the Sigel. "My humans both play the piano and have both tried to give me lessons with it at one point or another, but...I just don't get the same satisfaction that I do when I play the violin. I may give it another try in the future, but I dunno. Though cello might be interesting. Perhaps you could give me pointers in the future then?" The Basilisk smiled. She was enjoying her conversation with Ethiriel and did so want to continue with deepening their friendship. She hoped the younger Raevan felt the same.
"Currently I'm learning my electric violin and occasionally have Seth showing me things on the guitar." She blushed at talking about the demi-gorgon out loud to someone else for once that wasn't her grandfather. "H-he's a friend by the way! He sings and plays in a band with his brothers called the Medusa Brothers. Have you heard of them?"

With a chuckle, Ethiriel lightly shook her head. "Unfortunately, I would not be a very appropriate teacher. Perhaps I could introduce you to my tutor? She is a very kind woman. I met her through another guardian within the lab."
Naturally, Ethiriel didn't think twice about the mention of another person, someone unrelated or unknown to herself, but it was Cordelia's sudden defense that caught her attention. With Delia's sudden awkward behavior, she found it better not to ask and leave it at that.
"I am afraid I have not--" Ethiriel said with a smile, tilting her head to allow a lock of hair to fall over her shoulder. "My preference in music can be rather limited, I must admit. What kind of music do they perform?"

"Mmm, mostly rock I'd say, but the boys have been known to throw people for a loop here and there with one unusual song or another. Sometimes they like to mix things up and experiment." Cordelia gave a smile as if she were the four brothers' proud momma. "You should come hear them sometime. I can get you in backstage to any of their gigs. Not that I'm bragging or anything! Oh and totally no pressure, okay?" Though the silver Sigel said her preferences were limited, the Basilisk sure hoped the girl would at least consider giving these guys a chance.
Finally noticing Sammie the music clerk waving her back over to the counter, "Oh! I'm so sorry Eth! Here I am yammering away and you still haven't gotten your instrument taken care of! Come on, looks like they're done with mine." Gently, Delia took Ethiriel's hand and led her over to the back counter.
She let go of the girl's hand so she could accept her violin from the store associate and look it over. Giving the new set of strings an experimental pluck, the snake nodded in satisfaction as she put it back in its case. "Perfect as always Sammie. Thanks." With that she handed over a credit card so the man could ring her up.
"Pleasure as always Miss Delia." Sammie said as he rung her up and handed the card back. Looking to Ethiriel with a smile, "Is there anything I can do for you miss?"

It was hard for Ethiriel to imagine herself going to a rock concert, but she could hardly say no to a friend making such an offer. She had been to operas, plays and other live performances, but she'd never necessarily been to any concerts... though one would suppose an orchestral performance could be considered as such. "Perhaps I will take you up on such an offer someday," she said happily, smiling pleasantly for Delia.
She contently followed as Cordelia led her towards the counter, her violin held delicately at her side. "It is quite alright," Ethiriel assured, righting herself to stand appropriately as the basilisk spoke with the young man. The Sigel was pleased that everything seemed to be in order.
"Ah, yes," she responded as she was spoken to, lifting her own cased violin onto the counter, albeit a bit awkwardly. "Normally I tune it, myself, but perhaps you could give it a quick cleaning for me as well?" Ethiriel asked, waiting for Sammie's response before turning back to Cordelia. "Is your business done here? Henry is waiting outside for me, so I should not be here too much longer, myself."

Gentle as always, the clerk took the instrument from Ethiriel and replied, "No problem. I'll have the darling all gussied up in no time." And with that, Sammie left the two Raevans to converse amongst themselves once more as he set to work on fine tuning and cleaning the Sigel's violin.
In response to Ethiriel's question, Cordelia couldn't help looking down at the case that she now held at her side. Smiling and giving it a loving pat, "That's all I got planned today." At the mention of a male name, Delia's face was at first curious, but then quickly shifted into something more smug. Inching closer to Ethiriel and nudging shoulders with her, the girl teased. "Oh Henry huh? Who's that? Your boyfriend?" Feeling particularly gossipy and perhaps wanting to find a way to get closer to the other Raevan, the thought of Henry being her current guardian had not even crossed the Basilisk's mind then.

Ethiriel offered a gentle smile as the man walked away with her violin before turning back towards Cordelia. At first, confusion took over at the smoke Raevan's allegations but a laugh decorated the air in response. "Oh goodness, no. Henry is my guardian. There is not a special someone in my life." Sure, she still had feelings for Cesc, but that was going nowhere and she was slowly coming to terms with it.
"What about you? Do you have someone?" Ethiriel asked, trying to get that particular topic off of herself and away. It didn't make her uncomfortable, really, but she didn't quite like thinking about her situation.
