.Thalyssra.
Were they there yet, had they even touched down in the Al-Siq?
Shuurei had been unable to provide any clarification on whether or not the 'assistance' the lioness had been promised had arrived yet. Instead, they had spent a large portion of their time moving about. Shuurei had provided a variety of 'reasons' for the moves, often under the guise of speaking with the locals for future canvasing, but she'd always provided false information about location. This was something that Thalyssra had assumed would cause problems, but it seemed she had misjudged the capabilities of the hawk who had proven to be quite adept at constructing the intricate web of lies.
...Or perhaps it was her master that was the mastermind.
Thalyssra could never be sure when it came to the avian, instead she could do nothing more than place her trust in her and hope that she would be led towards safety eventually. Admittedly that 'eventually' had gone from one month, to two, and she had begun to doubt that help was on the way. Shuurei had vaguely implied that the situation was a difficult one, but surely it wasn't so difficult as to waylay Shuurei's associates for this long.
Alas, as the lioness slept within yet another of her allies homes, she could do nothing more than continue to wait for what Shuurei had promised would come...Words: 229

.Adar & Suu.
"Her timing is decidedly lacking," Adar murmured from his perch, watching as the next set of guards within the city walked by on patrol. They had been here for several days, and each time they had drawn within close proximity to their target, she had been moved abruptly by her avian companion. At this point Adar was close to making it abundantly clear that they were present and that if she didn't stop making their lives more complicated then he would swallow the damn b***h whole.
"Settle yourself," Suu'marle replied soothingly, though she knew that the black lion's remarks were all bluster. She too had felt the frustration of her companion and echoed his sentiments. Whether Shuurei would care to admit it or not she was horrifically out of practice and her performance wasn't up to standard. One mistimed move was forgivable, but this was now becoming a reoccurring issue. The pair of lions had a very limited time frame in which to perform their task and this wasn't going to be achievable if the bird kept spooking...
"Speak for yourself," He said and lowered his gaze again to watch for the next patrol. "You are not the one who has to remain for a time to put on an award winning performance as a symbol of the apocalypse," he pointed out. His brow was raised and his expression was decidedly animated for a lion who often preferred to remain reserved or at least irritated. The return home was clearly doing wonders for his mood, regardless of whether or not anyone cared to acknowledge precisely what his life was like in this region.
"And I'm sure you will perform admirably," The lioness didn't look up, so accustomed to his antics as she too watched for the patrols. However, given that he seemed to have a reasonable scope on them, she soon switched her attention to other things. They had managed to find Thalyssra, albeit it with several hiccups, but they had good fortune on their side in the sense that both of them had always been good at stealth. They might have invaded one or two of the wrong homes but they hadn't been spotted.
"It seems we'll have company," she said finally as she noted a number of individuals slipping in to the den that they too would be heading towards. "And by the look of it, they won't be wasting much time," she pursed her lips and glanced towards him expectantly.
"Then we move," Adar ordered with a curt nod.
"I will keep to the shadows and take the back, you slip through the front," he ordered. After all, a lion of his colour would easily cause a stir and he wasn't quite ready to cause chaos yet. His priorities had been made very clear, they were to retrieve Thalyssra first and then he would enact the second part of the operation while Suu escaped.
"At least the avian can't make her run from us this time," Suu remarked with a gusty sigh and slipped from her perch...Words (Suu): 256 Words (Adar): 256

.Thalyssra.
She'd been woken up abruptly by the avian and she had assumed that she was supposed to move again. She'd gotten used to the groggy starts, but instead of providing her with a briefing the avian had simply fluttered her wings rapidly and attempted to shoo her in to hiding beneath one of several rugs. They had been folded carefully in the corner before, but now it became apparent they had been positioned that way for a reason... she could slot in perfectly behind them and no one would have been any the wiser as to where she was.
...Or rather they wouldn't if it hadn't been for her perfume.
Nevertheless Shuurei hadn't been a heavy sleeper and as soon as she had heard the sounds of the uninvited beneath them she had sprung into action, shooing Thalyssra out of sight with enough time to spare. No sooner had the lioness sank beneath the rugs than a number of shadows had slunk into the room. At first they had glanced here and there, noted that it was empty, and then they seemed to have backed away to discuss their revelations.
She supposed she was fortunate (in a way), that her scent was everywhere in the room, but it seemed that they were certain she was in here and it was only a matter of looking more closely. If that was the case then they would most definitely found her the closer they drew to the perfume. It wasn't a good position to be in to say the least, but with nowhere to run the lioness held very still and chewed anxiously on her lower lip. Perhaps Shuurei would have a plan up her sleeve, but for now, the Politico could do nothing more than hope that the perfumes eventually overwhelmed them and clouded her vision.
...Not all of the thugs that were hired were good, though she wasn't sure if the caste had quite reached the point of investing much more in removing their targets from the public eye. If they had begun to invest, then she was going to be in a spot of bother.Words: 358 Total Words (Thal): 587

.Adar & Suu.
"Careful now..." the purr was the first thing they heard, but its owner was completely invisible. Even Thalssyra would have struggled to locate the green lioness, even though she was in very close proximity to the pile of rugs in which the politico was taking refuge. Truth be told, she had waited for this moment to intervene, waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike. She couldn't do that until all of them had comfortably turned their back to her and by the time she had done that one had drawn dangerously close to its quarry.
Fortunately, Suu'marle's timing had always been impeccable and as a consequence she had caused quite the stir. No sooner had her voice rippled through the room than the thugs had caused and cast their gaze about them. At first it had been calm, but that wouldn't last for long, especially when their exits became closed to them and they would have nowhere to hide...
No sooner had she made her presence known, than the roar rumbled from the depths of the shadows. True to form, the phantom male had swept in, cloaked in the shadows and it was there in which he had waited. He had mimicked his 'kin', simply closing his eyes to mask his view completely and it appeared they had completely passed him by. They'd obviously had more than one opportunity to see him as even Suu'marle would spot where he had chosen to sit... but on this occasion they had been so determined to find the politico that they had failed to make one critical check.
Alas, despite the poison mistress's warning it was much too late for one. As the thug closed the distance between himself and Adar, the black lion's eyes slid open. At first the thug was greeted with the haunting glimmer of red eyes, and no sooner had he taken these in, than the cruel, gleaming smile caught the light of the moon.
This was the stuff of phantom legend.
"Such a shame, I did warn you to be careful..." she sighed with great gusto and swept into few, climbing easily through the window. Depositing herself gracefully on to the floor, the lioness regarded her new found companions and offered a rather sly smile. "But one might say that things were always going to end poorly for you," she paused and tilted her head to the side as a brief 'snap' could be heard.
Not a single cry was uttered from the lips of the thug that had been captured, and even as he sank to the ground his movements were quiet. She certainly couldn't fault Adar's methods. "You did pick the wrong side after all," she pointed out with a chuckle.
"You have twenty seconds to run," Adar warned in a dark tone, remaining within the shadows though he continued to maintain the phantom smile. Eyes still glistening, he was making it abundantly clear that it would be a poor decision to remain in place. Unsurprisingly, it seemed the thugs concluded they simply weren't being paid enough for this particular job, and they soon made to flee.
"Was it not within our orders to ensure that I was supposed to have room to escort the Politico away?" Suu'marle enquired with a raised brow.
"I never said they were going to live," Adar replied coolly, and once he was certain that his quarry had begun to flee, he strode towards the exit. "He wanted a performance," the 'phantom' glanced over his shoulder towards Suu'marle and shook his head. "At least this way I have legitimate individuals to punish," he pointed out and continued on his way. "This will provide you with your cover; the main show will come after," he finished, and with that he was gone.
For a time, Suu'marle held her peace, but as the faint cries began to ring out within the alleyways and the streets began to stir, she realised now was perhaps the best time to move the politico. With the peacekeepers so thoroughly distracted by the rampaging 'phantom' and the gossiping citizens glued to their windows, no one would notice the pale lioness slipping through the streets.
"I believe now would be an appropriate time for us to move," the green lioness finally turned her gaze towards the rugs. "Leave your things here, all of them," she instructed and nodded to Shuurei. The avian would need to 'flee' on her own to set them off the scent - those who were watching would already be watching for the bird by now.
"We don't have much time, and we have a long way to run," Suu'marle warned, just as Thalyssra crawled somewhat pitifully from the rugs. Evidently nobles weren't built for agility or speed, they were just good at talking...Words (Adar): 325 Total Words (Adar): 581 Words (Suu): 475 Total Words (Suu): 731
