"I'm going to assume that this delay is courtesy of our new best friend," Destati remarked without looking over his shoulder. He had been puzzling over his map for some time, crudely drawn into the dry ground beneath him. Several stones and plants represented specific locations and entities, all of which he was moving around at random intervals to mark where various individuals had moved. His son would be surprised to realise that Destati had been tracking his every move, but this was a rather beneficial thing for the father when it came to the fact that he was now going to have to place all his trust in his son.
Unbeknownst to Tethys, he would be fighting this part of the war on his own for the time being. There would be no assistance from the Collective as there had been before, no interventions, and there would be every possibility that the lion's bands would be assaulted without warning in the coming weeks. It would be a period in which Tethys and his allies would be truly tested, but there was nothing more that Destati could do for the time being.
"She has been fed, watered, rebound?" he finally turned round to gaze at the black lion. To say that Adar's expression was a pleasant one would have been accurate. The phantom had not been happy to babysit, in fact he had abhorred the fact. He had made it abundantly clear that he would have been much happier returning to deep cover to gather more vital information. Alas, perhaps his mood would cheer up considerably when he was given his new mission and when he returned, he would be allowed to make his new best friend sing.
Ah yes, let no one say that Destati was above torture, especially when it came to those who would threaten the very land he called home. The days were numbered for Oa, and she would either speak, or bleed out before Adar was done with her...Words: 337

"Is that what we're calling her now?" The sourness in Adar's voice was unmistakable as he strode towards his master. He'd spent far too much time in the company of that lioness to the point that he had asked Suu'marle to knock her the hell out and keep her that way. To say he was sick to the back teeth of listening to the godforsaken welp spout absolute s**t was being nice about it. If he wasn't under orders to keep her alive he would have gutted the b***h and hung her organs up as decorations.
"Not my preference," he pointed out bluntly. "But yes, she is fed, watered and once again quiet," he muttered. He did come to a halt and raise a brow, it was perfectly safe for him to leave her when she was in that state and yet Havase had rocked up on his doorstep to 'take over'. He had been left rather puzzled for a time, until he realised that perhaps his skills were required elsewhere. Up until now Destati had been quite diplomatic in his dealings with those out here, thus Adar's skillset had been under utilised, to require it so suddenly raised several questions.
...Did he need to try and kill his son again?
"To what do I owe the pleasure of the summons, Sir?" he asked at last and took a seat. He cast his gaze towards Suu'marle who was watching them both expectantly. Clearly, whatever it was now required significantly more force if they were both involved, Adar's curiosity was piqued. It had been a considerable amount of time since he had been allowed to have a good stretch. Trials for youths was one thing, but actual warfare was far more his style, he was certain in these moments that it had nothing to do with the master's son.
"Or more accurately," he pursed his lips. "Who do you want dead?"Words: 324

Destati held back a laugh as Adar addressed him, the black lion had never been one to mince words and when he was unhappy it was abundantly clear. To say that he loathed Oa was polite, Destati was under no allusions that Adar wanted her cut into tiny pieces. Frankly, based on the revelations that had been made in the last few days, Destati was of a similar opinion. The lioness had a great deal of information to share with them, but the Justicar was no longer feeling nice about it.
...Had the nobles forgotten who they were?
It would seem so if they were all of the view that he would bow and be ordered around like the welp had assumed. Ah but she had gotten a bit of a shock when she had been caught, now it would only get worse for her. Or rather it would get worse for her once Gideon had brought back enough information for Adar to use. Suffice it to say that if the phantom didn't have the information he needed, he wouldn't be able to pursue the right line of questioning. Destati would keep that to himself for the time being though, it would be a surprise for the lion who had up until this point, been exceedingly patient when it came to his rather mundane duties.
"You will be accompanying Suu'marle to rescue one of the Politico," he explained at last and motioned to the lioness who was reclining nearby. "Suu'marle will be responsible for retrieving Thalyssra and getting her out of the Al-siq, for the time being she will remain with us," he narrowed his eyes. "While Suu'marle will attempt to debilitate them, if that should fail, kill them," he ordered.
There was a pause in which he gazed at Adar more closely.
"There will be a period when both of you will need to split up," he continued. "I need you to don the guise of a phantom," he instructed. "I have several individuals that you will need to pursue..."

Adar listened to the briefing in silence; it was a very top level one of course and one that would require suitably more detail. However, it appeared that Destati had been waiting for them both to be present before he gave them the full details of their mission. He wasn't surprised that it would be Suu'marle who would take the lead on acquiring the Politico in question. After all, few had seen him in action and the vast majority would automatically flee in terror. A phantom could not perform a proper rescue mission, but they could certainly provide ample cover for the individual who was charged with doing so.
...That, and he never said no to slicing a throat or two.
"You have my attention," he said as Destati finished the very top line briefing. It was at this point that the smaller lioness joined them, reeking of the same scent that she often did. He might have smelled like hellfire, but she often smelled sickly sweet... Just like her poisons. Both of them would have to wash and ensure their scents were dulled before they returned to the Al-siq, otherwise their cover would be blown in an instant.
"I'll watch her back," he confirmed as he cast a half smile towards his fellow assassin. "But I'm going to need specifics regarding the rest of the mission - names, appearance, and ideally location," he paused and shook his head. "I imagine that you will want witnesses to this?"
After all, why else would he have to don his disguise.
"I do," Destati confirmed and motioned for them to follow him away from his war map. "You can even decorate the walls with them if you feel it's necessary," Destati murmured.
"So we are aiming for the horror story vibe rather than an accurate depiction of phantom slaughter," Adar mused. After all, the phantoms were efficient killers and saw no point in decorating the area with examples of their handiwork. It was the stories within the Al-siq that painted them as something very different.
"Will this be a problem?" Destati enquired.
"It should not be," Adar replied and gave a nod. "Give us the full briefing; your politico can't run forever," he pointed out calmly, and thus, Destati began to speak...Words: 380 Total Words (Adar): 704
