It's not like she'd never had a roommate. Christa spent the vast majority of her time in college with various roommates over the course of her schooling. She kept to herself mostly, quiet and studious. The people she tended to room with were, for the most part, more interested in education than partying (the perks of major-specific dorms). Keeping her head down was easy - balancing school, work and senshi duties was infinitely more difficult.
On top of that, the topic of the “war in Destiny City” didn't come up in casual conversation all that often. Sure, some students chose to write about the topic during essay assignments, and Christa overheard one student decided to use it as a thesis topic. It seemed like Destiny City University students found the college halls to be a haven away from nightly monster attacks and young adults prancing around in bizarre clothing. Therefore, Christa hadn't really given much thought to rooming with someone who had powers. At least, not enough thought to become paranoid, wondering if her dorm-mate was a Negaverse agent.
That being said, moving in with someone she knew was a senshi was a golden opportunity, not only to train Nephthys and keep her safe, but to transition back into an active place in the war.
Christa had been couch-surfing for a great deal of time, so to pack up and leave somewhere suddenly was not unusual. She bid her temporary landlord a farewell, placing what little cash she had on hand into their figurative pockets before arriving outside the apartment complex with a large duffle bag and purse, waiting for Genevieve’s next instructions.

Genevieve had taken her car, a rather nice black vehicle, to pick Christa up outside the other's complex so she could bring her home with her. She hadn’t once mentioned that she lived in one of the better off parts of town, and by better off she meant like large sprawling yard and massive home. So she really did get lonely when no one was home, that was one of the major reasons she was happy the other had accepted the invitation to move in with her and her family.
She had already talked to her parents and arranged for dinner, in fact she was cooking and the food was for now safely slow cooking at home while she pulled up outside Christa’s current location.
Finding herself a parking spot Genevieve stepped out of her car and went to get Christa and help her with her things. Heeled boots and a long coat on, which covered the sweater dress she wore, kept her nice and warm despite her bare legs that the coat and boots didn’t cover. “Christa!” Calling out to the other, while waving a hand, she hurried her way over.

Christa wasn't used to such fanciness. The slick, shiny exterior of the car that pulled up had thrown her for a loop. Sure, Genevieve mentioned her family had a large house, but for whatever reason that didn't equate to having a large sum of money in Christa’s mind. She felt… almost a pauper in Genevieve's presence.
She only had a few small bags with her, meager possessions. Christa had learned to travel light in the last few years. “Is this your car?” She had to ask - someone younger than herself having such a fancy car. Maybe it was part of the money her parents had? “Are you sure I won't soil it?”
Christa then wondered if her mental vision of Genevieve’s house simply wasn't big enough…
She didn't have much on her, but could cook decently enough. “Is there anything I can do to help with dinner or something? Anything I should know not to do or say?” Her family came from modest means. Who knew what the rich and well-off did or didn't do at dinner time?

Laughing she waved a hand about in the air. “Nope, and even if you did I wouldn’t care. Trust me.” She said moving to help the other with moving her possessions into the car. “And yeah,I think dad felt bad about not being able to make my last birthday party due to work - some meeting.” She said motioning to the car, explaining why it was so nice. Admittedly, her family had money and she would have gotten this car had she asked for it - but she hadn’t. She had wanted something a little less fancy, though not too much less fancy. She figured it was her father's way of apologizing, aside from the verbal apology she’d gotten and the weekend of daddy/daughter activities.
That was the good thing with her parents, it really was. They might miss things or just not be around often but when they were they did try and make up for things missed. They tried their best and she understood. She knew they wanted to provide a good life, though what she had was beyond a good life, but it was something they wanted to pass down to her and whatever family she might have...and so on and so forth down the line for as long as possible. She knew it, she’d heard it said by them in private talks they’d had (yes, she had been spying). So she didn’t, and couldn’t, hold it all against them. They meant well.
“No, my parents are pretty open to talking over dinner...I can’t think of anything which would upset them really. And dinner...I have some of that still to make, mom might have taken over some of it by now, and some is still cooking and has time still. You can help if you want though, but we should get your things into a bedroom once we get home first.” Smiling as she opened up her trunk and the back doors, so they could load her car up with the older girls things.
“My parents are, when they are home anyway, pretty carefree and loving. So don’t worry at all.” Wanting to assure the other of this.

Christa was taken aback by Genevieve’s kindness and blushed furiously. She tried to hide it with a scarf as the two prepared for the drive to Genevieve’s family home. “Ah… alright, if you insist. But I do require at least helping with the chores, and training you, of course.” Once she was settled in the lap-of-luxury-in-vehicular-form, she leaned on the plush doorframe and gazed out the window. “I’m assuming your parents don’t know about the whole senshi thing, correct? Some people’s parents do know. My father is not one of them, for safety’s sake.”
She imagined a parent knowing about their child’s potential involvement in the magical war overtaking the city would weigh very heavily on them. It was likely much easier, and safer, to keep them unawares. The more people who knew a civilian identity increased the chances of that identity being spread around, leading to disastrous consequences.
“...it’s been about six years since I was first awakened, and in some ways, not much has changed.” She lifted a hand, almost to touch the near-pristine glass of the windshield, but abstained. “...but in other ways, things have drastically changed.” She was itching to write in her journal then, but knew it was packed away. Maybe tonight, after dinner and cleaning were done.

“Alright, you can help with the chores.” She said laughing at the other. She had a feeling she wouldn’t get away with denying the girl some form of work around the house, she was sure of this. “I’m ok with that.” Nodding her head, she was glad especially for the training.
“No, I haven’t told them. I don’t think I could. They’d be too worried about me.” She was sure that somehow he parents would have her followed, kept in the house at night, or some other sort of thing in order to ensure her safety. She was sure she would not be able to power up ever again if her parents found out, they would do everything they could to protect her.
Stopping at lights, and stop signs, she brought them both closer to her family's home. “I couldn’t worry them that much anyway - it would be unfair of me.” They’d always worry about things, watch the news every time something dealing the cities problems came on and look out for her. She knew it would bother them..she couldn’t - not to them.
“I can only guess a lot has stayed the same since no one has won yet. It must be at some sort of push and pull...one moment it’s in one direction more and the next in the other. A neutrality of sorts. I wonder if it’ll ever end..”
As she came to the area her own family lived in the houses were noticeably larger, the properties bigger. Everything scream money - a lot of it. Reaching a set of wrought iron gates she hit a button installed on her car so the gates would open and let them up the short drive way. Parking next to two other cars, her mother's and her father's, she put the car in park and made to get out. “Come on, let me help you get moved in.”

“Winning and losing are all matters of perspective, I’ve come to find.” came an even reply, Christa’s gray brows furrowing as they began to pull into what she could only describe as a mansion. It simply had to be, right? It dripped opulence like celebrities dripped diamonds and luxury furs on television. “Sometimes you just have to reframe what you believe a victory to be.”
She stepped out of the car very slowly, almost transfixed by the dazzling lights and vaulted ceilings and sheer wealth that stood before her. “Genevieve, what is it your parents do for a living, to afford something like this?” Perhaps it was a combination of high-paying careers and smart investments over time. Christa didn’t know too much about that - she was too focused on esoteric pursuits like history (which didn’t exactly bring in the big bucks, as it were.) She made to grab her meager belongings from the trunk of the car, almost too cautiously gripping the trunk release latch. What if she got fingerprints on Genevieve’s lovely car?
Someone in the Blood Moon had quite a bit of wealth, too. Who was it? Jade? Something like that. Her time in the Blood Moon was long gone now, but not forgotten. Christa made sure not to brush her skirt against the other two luxury cars parked in the drive while following Genevieve.
It almost felt too rich to be real, like Genevieve and her family simply lived in one of those opulent home magazine you’d find in the grocery store checkout line. The kind young teens and bored housewives would ogle over in their spare time, wondering how to stretch their budgets enough to grant themselves the illusion of such richness in their lives. Hell, even the light fixtures in the foyer would cost more than Christa’s yearly salary working at the university.

“Hmmm...I can see that in some ways - yes. I mean depending on the losses taken and what is gained. Under what means a fight is ended…” Nodding her head slowly. “Yeah, I can see that.” She was sure there was more to it, things the other had learned over time which she had not. These were things she would learn in time, she was sure she had a lot to learn in all honesty.; and she was sure she would. With the older, and far more experienced, senshi around she was sure she’d learn a lot more over time as well as experience more things. This was all good in Genevieve’s book.
“My mother is into real estate and my father works with stocks.” They just weren't always home since her mother's job took her around - alot. She did her job well. As for her father...well he liked to go see investments and other things. So he traveled to handle that and worked from home when he was able. They also, as far as she knew, had their own stocks in various things and investments, it was a combination of things but sometimes when alone she almost wished they had normal jobs and were home more often. Other times she was glad for their jobs and what it permitted her, and them, to do.
Opening one of the back doors to the car she went to get the others things out. “It’s why they aren’t always home. Mother likes to see things personally and works all around. Father likes to see things before suggesting stocks to people - to see how good things really are.” He was as honest as someone in his field could be, he was still a businessman.
Approaching the front door she unlocked it and held the door for the other before following her inside. Bringing some of Christa’s things in with her. The house, at the moment, smelled of whatever was cooking in the kitchen. Spices and meat….a certain warmth came along with such things. “Come on, let's get these things upstairs and you can settle in a bit. I still have a bit of time before I need to be back in the kitchen.”

After an explanation like that, Christa suddenly understood why Genevieve’s parents were so busy. It must have been difficult, as the younger lady had said, to live alone in a home this big. It was one thing to excel at one’s occupation, but another to be a parent. Christa wondered if they were trying to split their time between the two.
She shook her head. It wasn’t any of her business.
Following Genevieve into the expansive mansion of a house, trying not to stop in awe of all the furnishings and expensive decor throughout. The house smelled divine from whatever was cooking in the kitchen, and the young woman wondered just how many bedrooms and bathrooms were present. She remembered Genevieve mentioning a room across the hall from her own - that sounded… welcoming. Still, she was fully prepared to pull her own weight.
“Will your parents be home in time for dinner, Genevieve? Or did you cook it all yourself?” She hoped the girl didn’t have to eat alone often, or be expected to have dinner ready when the parents did come home. Something about Genevieve spoke of a lonely existence. Perhaps that would change.

“Mother was already home when I left.” So her mother might very easily be working on something in the kitchen as well, she couldn’t tell from smell alone and any sounds from there would be muffled or impossible to hear from here. So there was really no way to tell.” Father should be home soon, he knew you were coming.” She had left a note and spoken to him as well, in passing, in passing that morning.
“I started to cook some of it, I have a stew going.” Which was what she could leave going for long enough to pick the other up. Anything else would be made once she had Christa settled into the room across from hers.
The stairs up to the second floor curled up around one side of the downstairs and were carpeted, in order to keep bare feet warm in the morning chill. CLimbing up the stairs in barefeet now, as she had been bent down undoing her boots, she motioned for the other to follow her. She had left her boots right where she’d removed them, she would place them in the coat closet one her way back down.
“Follow me.”

The gray-haired woman was more than happy to oblige Genevieve, following her closely up the winding stairs. It was difficult not to stop and stare at all the odds and ends the upper-class people of Destiny City use to decorate their homes. Even the carpet felt a step or two above what she was used to. Maybe it was like higher thread sheets? Was there such a thing as higher-thread carpet?
Christa had left her shoes where Genevieve left her own boots, not wanting to soil such pristine conditions. “Genevieve, who cleans something this big? Do you have a maid service or something?” Maybe that was one of the things she could help with after moving in. Christa already prepared her limited credentials, in case her hostess’ parents were interested in proof of employment.
She was already planning on how to get the last bits of her personal effects from her father’s house. With so much more to do now, she needed to write more than ever.

“Not really. I mean we have people we call in at times. But day to day basic maintenance cleaning is done by us.” Mostly herself but it was something to do. She did her own wash and cooked for herself, cleaned her own messes. She did a lot on her own. She came from money, obviously, but she wasn't’ like some people were. She did her own things.
“We have a driver also but that’s only if it’s needed otherwise he had another job and doesn’t live here.” So he was called up when he was needed, over an hour before hand in order to give fair
warning, and then if not available other means were found. But her family had never relied on other people completely, they did want to do things on their own and wanted her to as well. They wouldn’t let her just do nothing for herself.
When they reached the second floor she turned to the left and headed halfway down the hallway toward her own room, and the room across from it. A few doors were passed along the way. One was mentioned by her as being a linen closet while the others were guest bedrooms. The bedrooms were spread apart a fair bit, as each one had a bathroom of it’s own. When she did reach her door she opened it to give the other a peek inside. Then the room right across the hall was opened. The room had painted walls and a nice, large, bed with sheet covered mattress, dresser, walk in closet and bathroom. But was sparse as whoever moved in could decorate however they pleased.
“The bathroom is partially stocked. I mean towels and such are there but any personal things we can purchase.” Soap, tooth paste, conditioner, shampoo - anything personal that the other liked and used.

Christa had to sigh, heavy in shoulder and soul. “Genevieve… how can I thank you for all of this? We barely just met and I realize we’re both senshi but…” She turned to face the young woman, the beginnings of tears welling in the corners of her eyes. “...you didn't have to invite me into your home like this. I'm not sure how to repay for you it.”
Sure, as Kallichore, she could train Nephthys and keep her safe, but as a civilian, she didn't have nearly as much to offer someone. Literary critique and trivia at best, probably, and access to an enormous amount of stationary. With a sigh, Christa tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear. “I'm sorry. I… I'm not very good at this.”
Walking into the room Genevieve had designated as her own, she was relieved to find a lovely desk that could be used for late-night writing. “It's perfect.” It didn't need to be fancy, or even its own bathroom. Anything above and beyond a roof and a bed was like luxury to her, so this was like living in a fancy hotel every day.

Listening and watching the other she shook her head. “You are helping me. You are giving me a friend in all of this and someone to help me. That’s repayment enough if you ask me.” She spoke. Setting the others things down she approached the older and reached out to hug her. “You’re helping me to do better and so I don’t get injured or killed.” At least not without her knowing how to defend herself - giving her a chance to fight and live. It was a lot really, and she was happy for it.
“That’s fine, you don’t need to be.” Letting the other go she went back to bring the others things into the room properly. “I have a friend now who I can talk to about these things, who knows and understands. I’m also a little less alone in this house.” Though the cats did help, all of them, but it wasn’t always enough.
“Just don’t mind when the cats decide to bother you...or follow you...or just make your room there's also. It’s likely they are downstairs in the kitchen.” Due to the smells of food, plus their own food and water bowls were down there. She’d get to see them all soon enough. The year and a half old cats, all five of them, would no doubt love the other girl as it would be another person to seek...and gain attention from - they were spoiled.

The hug was unexpected and initially, Christa felt stiff and uncomfortable. She wasn't the most social person in Destiny City and wasn't touchy-feely. Still, she softly wrapped her arms around Genevieve to return the hug lightly. “Thank you.”
At least she could provide Genevieve, as Nephthys, training and protection. Her familial home would be rendered safer with two senshi protecting it, even if Genevieve’s parents were never the wiser. “We can begin more training whenever you are ready. In the meantime, I certainly don't mind some cats paying me a visit…”
No doubt the delicious aromas downstairs were distracting the cats right then. “I'd like to get freshened up before dinner, if you don't mind. I should brush my hair at the very least.” The last thing Christa wanted to do was look disheveled in front of Genevieve’s affluent parents.

“That sounds good, and they’ll see to paying you a visit soon enough.” At least the other didn’t seem to have an allergy to cats, which was good, and didn’t seem to mind that they’d likely seek out her attention just as often as they sought attention from her.
“Of course, I’m going to head down to the kitchen. Just come down when you’re ready. If you can’t find the kitchen call, it echoes in the living room and entrance room.” Given the size of the rooms it was believable, even with the furniture in both rooms it wasn’t enough to keep the two rooms from echoing horribly.
