Dooley had spent a couple of weeks looking after the grumpy dark brown lioness, he'd seen her wounds heal and tried to make some sort of real conversation with her but that conversation had never really come. Today he was full and tired and he lay on his back with his paws in the air while he pretended to play with the whispy clouds. His claws left their sheathes and he let out a long slow breath. "Dooley, stop sighing so much you will give yourself wrinkles." Wessex popped her head up beside the big tan maned male and clambered up on top of him, settling herself in to a sitting position on his chest. "You know you helped her a lot, she's just stubborn, you know what the firekin are like, you grew up there too." Dooley huffed and ruffled the jackals head fur with a massive paw. "I know Wes, I just wanted her to be okay that's all." He smiles gently. "I Have a feeling she'll leave us soon and I don't know if I have done her any good."

Kaelyn had found an area further away from Dooley and Wessex to lay and think, her wounds were almost completely healed and with that she felt like she had to move. Her body felt sluggish and foreign to her, something she wasn’t really used to considering how she trained prior to her injuries. Licking one of the nastier gashes that lay along her shoulder the huria contemplated her next move. Should she leave the Jackal and lion and start training, or would she stay? It wasn’t like she had invested a lot of emotional time into them, but she did have debt to pay now.
Rolling her bright amber colored eyes, Kaelyn stood up and stretched. Now was as good a time as any to go talk to the two about departure time. Taking a couple breaths in and out, Kaelyn stilled the anxiety that rushed into her heart. Now was not the time to be getting cold feet, she promised herself she would join that pride and find those that did her harm – sitting around did nothing for that promise.
Surveying the area around her, Kaelyn’s eyes rested upon the large male and his companion. Was he sulking? Raising a brow in question, she started her trek towards them.
“Dooley.” Kaelyn’s voice was strong, a certain firmness and weight placed in her voice, almost like she was laying a stone on top of the recipients body.

Dooley couldn't help but chuckle when she spoke his name. Its was actually nice to hear her say it but at the same time it sounded like a swear word or a death knoll being rung. "Kaelyn your dulcet tones are just what I was thinking about." He turned his head without rolling over so as not to dislodge his jackal companion. His own deep blue eyes settled upon the muscular lioness, he knew she was a determined beast, she had mumbled a lot of things in her sleep about revenge and other things to. He never told her about these things, mostly they were said while she was delirious and he knew if he mentioned them he would be asking for a clout.Wessex snickered quietly hopping down off Dooleys stomach so he could roll over and straighten up, he looked like a massive lazy lump laying there like that. "Kaelyn." She nodded wagging her tail, she pondered walking away from this particular conversation but her curiosity kept her seated. Once Wessex had vacated his belly th emissive lion rolled over with a dusty clump and moved himself in to a laying position so he could look the smaller female in the eyes. "And how are you this fine day? Or should I ask what can we do for you?" He smiled, he had a feeling she was going to leave them and he didn't want her to go, but if he told her to stay he knew she wouldn't like it. She was too independent to let herself be looked after by him, no matter how much he wanted to.

The sun-throated lioness’ maw formed a firm line at Dooley’s comment, she couldn’t do anything about her vocals, so why make fun of them. Swatting Dooley lightly in agitation and warning, she studied his lackadaisical position – She would never be able to understand his relaxed position on life and feared being around him for too much longer would upset his own peaceful nature.
Nodding acknowledgement towards the jackal, Kaelyn silently thank her for getting up. It was awkward talking to Dooley when he was situated in such a strange position. As he rolled, she kept steady, patient eyes on him, waiting for his full attention before getting to the point of her meeting.
“Dooley, enough. We both know I don’t need anything more of you. I am already in a heavy debt to you and Wessex.” Amber eyes looked to his jackal companion before shifting over to the large ex-firekin again.“In three days’ time I shall be taking my leave.” Waiting for a brief moment, she pushed all the air from her lungs and slowly drew in another breath. “I must track them down, Dooley, you understand.” Flicking her tail slowly, Kaelyn could feel her mouth getting dryer by the second. “I will fulfill my debt to you soon after joining their lands. I need to train now though, my body is weak after the injuries it suffered.”

The big male rolled his shoulders. He had this uncomfortable feeling in his chest, an ache that made his muscles sore and his head ache. He didn't want her to go. He frowned, a deep furrow forming between his blue eyes. He really didn't want her to go. He feared she would get herself killed and that hurt even more. He knew he couldn't say all of these things if he did he would only irritate her and push her away, liking someone like her was so difficult. "I never said I didn't like your voice." He smiles a cheeky grin then silenced himself. She had more to say.Wessex gave a nod and wagged her tail at the lioness. When she said she was leaving them she could feel her pale companions heart skip a beat. She had realised a while ago that Dooley had completely fallen for the chocolate female, she also knew that he wouldn't tell her. She knew that he would be hurt that she still wanted to go. She looked up at her massive friend and waited for him to reply. The tan maned male gave a nod. She wanted her revenge , she wanted to join the pride full of strong powerful lions. He wanted to help her. He supposed his way of life was soft, he was lacksidasical, he let his paws and the wind and the food pull him along, he was fine this way. He had been fine this way. After meeting Kaelyn, his outlook had changed, he wanted nothing more than to protect her and see her wishes fullfilled.
"You owe me no debt Kae." He cleared his throat, "Uhm, Kaelyn, why don't you let me train with you. I know you think I am soft, but, I was still trained on the sands. I can spar with you." It was an excuse, any excuse in fact to see her stay by his side for even a little bit longer. He could help her train, to build up her muscle again. He could keep her safe, even if it was only for a moment longer.Wessex looked up at her friend and sighed. He was clearly a fool in love. What was she going to do with the great idiot? She knew he didnt really like to fight, she also knew his great weight and size usually put him at an advantage against most opponents. He was hoping she would change her mind, that was perfectly obvious to her. Well, if she could help too. "I don't think I can help much with sparring but I can run with you. I can out streak Dooley I'm sure I can race you too." She yipped.

Kaelyn was studying the ground, she didn’t want to admit to her mind what her body already knew – Dooley had fallen for her. If she acknowledged this fact? She’d never get to the place she needed to be, the place she wanted to be. Kaelyn owed it to herself to push forward and be acknowledged for her abilities, perhaps even bring change to a closed mindset. That was her life’s purpose; a passing fling had no place in her life.
Dismissing his additional comment about her voice, Kaelyn decided to pull her amber eyes away from the dirt and focus instead on Wessex. Unfortunately for her, that focus immediately gave the ex-firekin anxiety as the white jackal was looking with great concern over at her friend. Reluctantly trailing her eyes to Dooley, her stomach took up the art of somersaulting.
One shaky breath, two shaky breath, three shaky breath, four.
And as she released her fourth breath, Dooley spoke again, this time dismissing her debt which immediately aggravated her. “It isn’t your choice to make, Dooley. I owe you for your time and I will find a way to repay that debt.” Pressing her ears to her head, the lioness was almost disgusted he could so easily dismiss her longing to pay off the debt. Was she truly not worth it to him? Was this just something he liked doing so it didn’t bother him? Kaelyn could feel the firestorm reigning hell in her belly, readying to exit her body, but that storm slowly cooled with his next comment.
“Train with you?” Amber eyes looked the large, goofy lion up and down, not exactly sure she could make use of him. “I know you lived in the Firekin, but were you really any good at fighting?” Kaelyn could hardly believe it, but she was curious none the less. Shifting focus to the jackal, Kaelyn couldn’t help but crack a slight smile.
“Make this worth my time.”….Perhaps even she was stalling for time.

The dappled male watched her carefully. He knew she wanted desperately to repay a debt. He just didn't feel she owed him anything. He just did what he felt was right. He wanted to reiterate this to her but she spoke of training and he grinned.
"I know you only think of me as a big friendly lummox but, I was trained to survive, just as you were." He rolled his massive shoulders "I'm a little rusty but I'm sure if I train with you my muscles will remember." He already knew how to fight, he could remember how to advance, how to defend, they would probably match each other only she, smaller, lighter, would probably be faster, at least on a normal day. At the moment she would probably be slow but she would regain her muscle in no time. Did he want that? Dit he want to train with ear so she could just, leave?
The answer was no, it was squarely no, but he knew he couldn't convince her to stay and wander forever with him, without a cause, without a care, that was his way of life, it wasn't hers, she had something to prove, even though he wanted to shout at her and tell her she was perfect the way she was, she had nothing to prove, he knew such sentiment would fall on deaf ears.
"Lets do a quick hunt so we have a meal then we can train and eat." He set his jaw and looked at her with determination in his eyes. He would help her in this even if it meant she would leave him.Wessex shook her head. "Big idiot." She flashed a glare at Kaelyn, this lioness, she wasn't stupid, surely she had sussed out at least a little, of how Dooley felt, she wanted to ask, but she wouldn't, no, she couldn't do it in front of Dooley, she knew exactly what the big lug was thinking, he would let her go, because that was what she wanted. Still she barked and stood tall. "Food sounds good, I think a good meal will re-pay some debts." She hinted raising both brows at Kaelyn.

“Dooley.” Her voice was stern. “ You ARE a big friendly lummox. I know you will hold back even if we were spar, but I am sure it will be better than nothing for now.” Tensing her font legs, she felt the muscles bulge and the stink of a couple wounds as they split apart. It definitely was going to be a bit before she could truly take on anyone in a spar, let alone an entire crew of Vikings. Heaving a small sigh, the lioness looked to Dooley and accepted her fate – Until her wounds healed she couldn’t fight anyone other than the rusty huria. Watching the large male sit in silence, Kaelyn could almost place the frustration upon it. Thankfully, it kept her captivated enough to ignore her own flustered pile of emotions that threatened to take over. She couldn’t place his feelings, what was going through his head, was he gassy? Did he dislike fighting? Ears perked when Dooley’s voice hit the air, “A hunt would be a good warm up.” Locking eyes with his, she felt a shiver go down her spine. Where was the sudden determination coming from? Was she his project now? And why the hell was Wessex calling him an idiot? Turning to look at the jackal, Kaelyn missed the nasty look she gave her and instead was met with raised brows and a very blunt idea on how to repay her debt. Nodding her head, she grinned. “Good idea, Wessex, though I do believe you are both deserving of more.”

He grins broadly and shrugs. If that was what she thought of him, he was fine with that. "Well if that's the worst you have to say about me I'm happy with that." He chuckles and gets to his paws. "Lets go and get some lunch then." He yawns and turns towards the savannah, he knew there was a herd near by and if Kaelyn felt that hunting would re-pay her debt he was happy with that. He didn't want her thinking she owed him anything. It actually hurt him a little that she thought she did. He simply, genuinely cared about her.
With his nose turned away from her he allowed himself a momentary frown and a quiet sigh before he picked up his paws and started towards the herd at a slow lope. "Lets take something really big down, I have a hankering for some Zebra." He called back to the lioness and the jackal, his voice holding its chipper tone as he plodded onwards.
He would see her strengthen, he would see her fit to fight and he had no doubt she would leave, she would go to the place she wanted and see her self spoken destiny fullfilled, there was nothing he could do about that, but he could, at least, make sure she was up to the task. He would just have to train off the extra flab and train the way he used to when he was a huria on the sands. The pale jackal shook her head and looked up at Kaelyn, she opened her mouth to say something more, thought better of it and raced after Dooley. "Wait up!" She yipped her tail wagging happily in the air as she followed after her best friend and oldest companion. If only she could talk him out of these feelings he was having. If only.

Kaelyn rolled her eyes at Dooley, he really was a giant marshmallow in her eyes -- Moving forward to follow the huria she took to studying the sky. The companionship was pretty nice, she’d definitely miss it when she left but Kaelyn knew the pride would eagerly accept her strength once she proved her worth. Peering over at the large lion she gritted her teeth.
At least he has Wessex…
She was giving herself excuses, knowing full well the large lion before her would definitely miss her companionship. It was easier to make excuses, rather than accept what was right in front of her. Peering over at Dooley she raised a brow at his comment.
“So a zebra is big in your opinion?” Scoffing at his words, the memories of her taking down other lions, boar and giraffe danced into her headspace. “Why don’t we try for a giraffe or something? That really gets the blood going.” Picking up the pace, she kept easy pace with him, even with his long legs, smirking at him as she moved past him towards the savannah.[FIN]
