Eisetsu sighed lunch with her family, why why did she have to have lunch with her family, it was the last thing on earth she wanted to do. She ground her teeth together. As she headed to the cafeteria to meet up with some of her siblings for lunch. She had promised her mommy and daddy that she couldn't ignore her siblings forever so she had finally agreed to lunch once in a while. Problem was for her the while was never long enough, since she didn't want to take time away from studying to do this in the first place.

- - - - - -"It's not like we're making you~" Mio teased as she sat down opposite her younger sister. She's somehow gained a set of glasses, but looking closer, one could see that the lenses had been popped out. She was only wearing them for show. Her lunch today was quite a bit, her tray was covered in food and she already had something hanging out of her mouth. A smile made it's way onto her face as she got a good look at her sister. They were very clearly related, aside from the fact that Eisetsu had a wonky eye. Well, wonkier than the twins'. "It's actually..."
"--Really nice to be able to see you." Muro finished, sitting down next to his twin. His tray was considerably less full, but it looked like he'd already taken a few bites out of it. Unlike his twin, he lacked glasses, but around his neck...was a string that had several pairs of glasses worth of lenses on it. Clearly, the twins were on some sort of glasses-stealing spree of sorts. It was a bit of a wonder how Mio managed to talk her usually shyer twin into doing something like that... "Are you gonna--"
"Wanna come to dinner, too? Kissy and Enju would wanna see you and--"
"We'd wanna bring you--"
"With us on our pranking train tomorrow!"

Eisetsu wanted to bang her head on a wall as soon as her older sibling opened their mouth she wanted to go this was a bad bad idea. "You know very well why I'm here." Eisetsu growled. She sat down with her food and was eating she paused to say. "You know I don't have time to waste I have studying to do, so we will eat our lunch then I will be getting back to it alright??" She said sharply. Eisetsu had no idea why they were wearing fake glasses, perhaps to mock her. She wouldn't be surprised if that was what they were doing. "No, No, and No I have no time for such foolishness. If Enju and Kissy want to see me they can make an appointment and arrive on time like you two managed to do, otherwise, they will see me on random holidays." She said bluntly. Eisetsu had tried many times to make her family understand she just didn't need them. She would have been better off an orphan but she couldn't seem to ditch this family.

- - - - - -"All work," Mio started. "And no play," Muro continued. "Make Eisetsu," "A very," "Dull sister." They finished together, their voices coming together to sound rather creepy. They giggled after they finished the sentence.
Muro decided to take the less aggressive route and started to chow down on his food. Unlike Mio, he had managed to get himself a balanced lunch; A small salad, a sandwich with some sort of lunchmeat, and a small stack of chocolate cookies. "At least you're going to be really good at what you do?" He offered, looking up at his sister before shoving a mouthful of dressing-soaked slad into his mouth.
"Whatever you decide to do." Mio continued. Her lunch was much more of a poor choice; A piece of cake, a slab of some sort of meat, vanilla pudding, a stack of cookies bigger than Muro's a leaf wrap with some tuna salad in it, and a slice of apple pie. "We're studying too though, don't you know!" Mio grinned, taking off the glasses and waving them around.
"We're having an experiment," Muro continued, "And we've found a looot of subjects."
"So it's the same as studying!" Mio insisted. "We just don't use books!"

Eisetsu gave the twins a dark look and she frowned at them calling her dull. "Oh really and did you two get to meet the new race for the first time at a Question and Answer setting?? Did you meet the ambassadors to the Below?? I did I don't see that as dull, I study and I learn what do you two do?? Goof off and end up flipping burgers??" Eisetsu glared at them offended that they had called her dull. Eisetsu had turned away from the twins to eat her food and pretend she was by herself, ignoring what they were saying. Stupid worthless family.

- - - - - -Puffing up in offense, Mio looked like she was about to launch into a rant. Siblings they might be, but Mio could not understand why her sister was so intent on doing nothing but studying! So offended was she by the burger flipping comment, that the poor cooking she was holding was gripped so hard, it crumbled. She grit her teeth, baring her oversized saber-fangs, and opened her mouth.
Luckily, Muro was there to calm the oncoming tempest, putting an arm on his twin's. They looked completely alike, sometimes sounded completely alike, but Muro knew where to stop, where Mio would just keep going on and on. "But, Eisetsu," he began, wiping his mouth with a napkin, "We're still studying! We just balance out school with fun!" He flashed a grin before continuing. "Besides, comedians and pranksters have businesses...sort of..."
"And sometimes studying doesn't even pay off!" Mio wrinkled her nose, having calmed considerably. "Look at auntie Sei. She's got a business degree and she can't get out of managing the cemetery and funeral home. She's suuuuuuuper smart but she can't find any place that can take her!"
Muro nodded, then froze. "We're not saying that you won't find anything!" "Just that you should," Mio continued. "Maybe look into living your life," "Before it gets away from you."

Eisetsu frowned and rolled her eyes at the twins. "I will have fun once I reach my goals perhaps or perhaps I will find something else to learn, did you ever consider I consider learning fun before you mocked me?? As for Aunt Sei if it her failing in finding a business job or this crazy family holding her back from her dreams, maybe my choice to deal less with the family is the smart way to go, rather than getting bogged down with all the prankster chaos." Eisetsu challenged she bet everyone's problems were because the family was off it's rocker. She gave them a shrewd look "I am living my life my not letting the family ruin it."

- - - - - -"Pfft." Mio pursed her lips. "If anything you should be glad Mom and dad are LETTING you distance yourself."
Looking around the cafeteria, as if afraid someone was watching, Mio leaned across the table, almost laying on it, to whisper to her sister.
"Didn't you hear?" she started.
Muro copied his sister, though kept his distance somewhat. He didn't want to be caught in the middle of a fight, should either of his sisters snap.
"Momma's dad came back." Muro continued. "And mom-"
"Hid us from him." Mio nodded, looking uncharacteristically somber. "He doesn't know we exist, I heard."
"Uncle Jiyun says that we would get kidnapped if he found us." Muro had come to trust the Bakeneko hybrid a little too much. While the rest of the family had taken to treating the second youngest of the first generation with a degree of mistrust, Muro seemed to have somewhat skipped that family lesson so far.
"So, really," Mio went on, "The family is keeping you safe by letting you do whatever you want." Sliding back across the table, she picked up the piece of cake, shoving it in her mouth.
"Besides..." Muro did the same, picking up a forkful of salad. "You're making mom really upset...She cries sometimes."

Eisetsu sighed she listened to the twins, her family drove her crazy, but they still cared about her that much was clear. "Alright fine you two win, but clearly none of us can spend much time with mommy if what you say is true if she is being watched by her daddy and we could be kidnapped by him. I can't go see mom right now to make her feel better. You two shouldn't go either till it's safe, your a pain in my neck but I still love you and everyone else in our family, ok?? Happy??" Eisetsu said sharply.

All 4 of the twins' tails wagged excitedly, and their overlarge ears perked up, making them both look rather comical. But they were quickly subdued by their sister's words. She was right, by going to see their parents, they were risking putting their little family in danger. Looking at each other for a good long while, something seemed to pass between them.
"We should think about this," Muro started. "Since we're so used to visiting," Mio continued. "And we're more about family than you are," "It's easier said," "Than done." "We like being able to see mommy and daddy," "And our brother and sister, too," "So it's like we can be like you," "And disappear for a while."
Mio heaved a sigh. Neither of the twins had thought to keep away from their parents. they enjoyed being with them, and with the rest of the family. Auntie Sei was visited frequently, and both of the twins travelled freely between their parents and aunt and uncles. Never had they thought about the consequences of doing so.
"We never thought about staying away," Muro started. "So we may have screwed up." Mio continued. "But see, we always can count on you," "To learn new things and let us know!" "So no matter what," "We'll always have your back," "Because we love you," "And that's what families are for!" they finished in unison.
Getting up with their trays now empty, they walked around the table to both give their sister a kiss on the cheek before departing, grinning to flash their saber fangs at everyone around.
