Kallichore, or Christa as he had learned was her civilian name, had texted him in order to arrange for a meeting. It was time, according to her, that he get a history lesson. He had let her decide on the place, as it was likely that she knew a better place for this conversation than he did. He was just meeting her at the location she had texted him, unknowing what the place was till he had arrived, it was a rather large though empty cafe.
Having arrived early, he’d left early incase he got lost, he sat with a drink in his hands waiting for her arrival. He wasn’t sure if they’d remain here or if they’d leave here and go someplace else, so he was taking advantage of the time here in order to get himself a hot drink. Waiting for her he kept moving his eyes around the empty place, ignoring the worker who kept giving him a look of sympathy, before his eyes would bounce to the single entrance into the cafe - waiting for her.
Checking his cell phone again he looked down to the messanger bag he had with him, he had started to carry it everywhere with him a few months back and it was now a bit of a habit. Had someone told him over a year ago that he’d be carrying that bag everywhere with him he’d have laughed and denied it. But..he was now...things did change.
Sipping from his drink, before it got too cold to drink, he held it between both of his hands as he soaked up the warmth from the cups steamy contents.

Christa didn't know much about Seung Kim, to be perfectly honest. She hoped he would enjoy a cafe, something easy to find, inexpensive and relatively private. She was running a bit late due to suddenly moving in with Genevieve, and she sent a text ahead of time to let Kim know. Hopefully he wouldn't be too upset.
The cafe door clicked shut behind her and Christa dusted herself of the bits of snow that collected on her jacket, knocking her boots against themselves to rid them of snow as well. Brown eyes quickly scanned the room and found who she believed to be Kim. Being that the cafe only had a few people in it, she walked to the table and bowed her head, keeping her voice low.
“Kim? I apologize I was running later than I thought. I hope you weren't waiting too long?” Settling in facing her guest, Christa set her shoulder bag on the floor beside her, pulling out a well-worn journal.

He had seen someone enter but was unsure if it was the person he was waiting for, though he really did hope it was, when she approached though he found himself feeling more sure of it being Kallichore and nodded once. “Seung is given name...Kim is family name.” He said assuming his name was a bit confusing, as he had learned soon after moving here that Kim was a given name here and not a family name. Plus names were switched around here as well.
“No, was not waiting long, came early for drink.” Saying this as he held up his drink and gave it a little shake. Setting his drink down, after taking a sip, he brushed his hair back, tucking some of it behind a heavily pierced and decorated ear. He liked decorating himself, as seen by a few gold colored bands of metal on his fingers which matched the gold piercing and hanging from various holes in his ears.
“Order drink - on me. It is cold outside.” Setting his hand on the table Seung took a moment to glance about. Still it was just them and the two workers. “Anything you want.”

“Ah, I apologize. I got it backwards, didn't I?” Christa frowned, clearly embarrassed. She brushed her hair behind an ear and pondered what to order, not expecting such generosity. She carefully opened the old journal, which was filled with various bullet points.
Fingers traced over the fine aged paper. “I've been a senshi for about six years now, and there is history even before that.” she started, brows furrowing. “I'll give you what I have. I'm still working on the information from before I awakened.”
She cleared her throat but was sure to keep her voice low, just in case. “Have you seen any Dark Mirror Senshi? They used to be White Moon Senshi, like Ganymede. Sailor Ares was a senshi from the black moon - a parallel dimension to ours. They move through mirrors like we move through space. Ares corrupted and took several of her group with her to form the Dark Mirror Court. I used to be part of Ares’ original group and she tried to convince me to undertake her baptism, but I refused…”
And now, even more so than before, she was relieved to have made that choice that day. Ares was a deceiver, her Court full of lies.

“Is fine, not everyone gets it. Kim is given name here...home it is family name - very common family name.” At around twenty percent of the South Korean population having Kim for a family name. To learn it was a given name here, and not a family name, had taken some getting used to. He knew it had, at first, confused classmates and teachers. Over time they’d gotten used to it, as well as how to say his name.
“Six years...long time. Many things then have happened...and to fight so long.” Would he wind up doing that? Six years fighting in some magical war where you never knew if your new friend was an enemy also? The idea was...unnerving and depressing even, to not know who you could trust. “No...but have heard of.” He said nodding his head slowly. “Don’t know about them though.” He had simply heard that they were a thing, beyond that he knew nothing about them, where they came from or why he didn’t know where they fit in with things.
Listening to the brief summary of them he took a sip from his drink, a thoughtful look crossing his features. “If from dark side of the moon...then aren’t they corrupt already? If white side is good...two halves of coin - opposites? How to corrupt already corrupt?” At least the other seemed pleased she had not changed sides, had not joined this Ares person.
“Let waitress know when you have drink order for them.” Already thinking that once he finished this drink he might grab something else to drink, not a refill but something else entirely if only because he wouldn’t mind trying another drink here.

“Ares wasn’t corrupt to begin with…” Christa tapped the edges of her journal, wondering if perhaps that was a lie. Was Ares corrupt the entire time? Perhaps she was. “...but her Dark Mirror Senshi are just different enough that the Negaverse don’t consider them the same as their own corrupt senshi. Two sides of the same prism, maybe. But watch out for mirrors - they can teleport between them, just so you’re aware.”
If there was one thing Kallichore learned in the six years of being a senshi, it was that one was most vulnerable in the very beginning. Venice, being a Page, was therefore a sitting duck if someone twice his power level decided to pay him a visit. It was a blessing this hadn’t happened yet. Christa wondered if it was pure luck, skill, or a combination of both that allowed Venice to stay as he was - not succumbing to sweet corruption.
When the waitress came by to get any additional drink orders, Christa asked for simple black tea. Once the waitress disappeared to prepare their order, Christa continued.
“As far as I know, the Dark Mirrors are a relatively small faction, with Ares at its head, but I have not seen her in quite some time. They aren’t nearly as big of a threat as the Negaverse but…” The gray-haired woman leaned forward. “How much do you know about how the war all started, Seung?” At least she got the given name correct this time.

The idea of anyone coming out of a mirror was...a bit terrifying - like something from a horror movie. That left a person vulnerable, really vulnerable, and he almost wanted to tell his cousins to cover up their mirrors at home and cover any at his home….just incase. So Ares was...good...and yet she was the opposite side of the white moon. So either side was good? It seemed like it from what Kallichore was saying. It was something to think on. He had, as of recently, been taking in what information he could and mentally compiling it and working to fit it together so it made a sensible picture. It was a work in progress...but it was coming along.
Giving an order as well with the waitress, going with a green tea coffee, he settled to finishing his currant drink as quickly as he could. His attention was on the woman in front of him, listening to her, as he worked on finishing off his drink.
“Not much...little bit...very little bit.” He said slowly. “Know some from Caedus who helped get into negaverse home - so we could fight them.” He said wondering how to put what information he had into words, it was a lot really. Maybe he should even take her to meet Caedus at some point...maybe he could even provide her answers and information?
“Metallia is piece of chaos...sentient part who Beryl took power from...but was not always with Metallia. Does not know much, he doesn’t, was held prisoner for long time...since everything destroyed. Says his home is artificial...and still there - with life. He is sure of it...people long lived there...not like us. Wants to go home...find out information and help us win. He came here...as envoy from his home - with others. They were killed and him only survivor but prisoner...was at time Beryl was rising in power. He said this to me, talked to him where he hides in woods.”
Biting his lip, trying to remember everything he could, and put it into words for Christa to understand. There had been, at least for himself, a good deal of information learned from the other. He didn’t know if it would be the same for the other.
“Said chaos is natural...but not needed...product of creation...so maybe some is needed but not Metallia part? Since she is sentient and bad...chaos without personality...and thought maybe good?” He said, thinking aloud. “Said beryl was greedy...and accepted Metallia….and became a monster. Invited him and his people - due to alliance. Wanted them to fight the Moon too...he and his refused...so they died - save for Caedus.”
Pausing as drinks arrived, thanking the waitress, he moved Christa’s cup to her while taking his own. “He said Metallia is not unstoppable...we can win...must find a weakness...maybe has one none know. So we have hope.” He added before he let himself fall silent in favor of drinking and waiting for the other to process everything he’d said.

Even before she could process the rest of what Seung was saying, her brain had stopped immediately on the word Caedus - someone or something she wasn’t familiar with. It sounded like a person, from what Seung was describing. An artificial homeworld? But it sustained life? She surmised it may have been mechanical or synthetic or something of the sort, but knew precious little about life on other planets (even her own moon).
“Metallia… is but a piece of Chaos.” she parroted, writing furiously in her journal. Pen skimmed page, attempted to take everything down, word for word. “A natural, but unneeded, part of creation…” Fascinating. Whoever this Caedus was, I need to meet him, for information’s sake at the very least. “Sentient, Chaos without personality. Seung, this is incredible.” she breathed, leaning back from her journal as if seeing the young Korean man for the very first time. “This is a very large piece of the puzzle I was missing before. Beryl and Metallia are two separate, distinct beings with personalities of their own. All this time, I thought one was simply an avatar for the other, someone created in Metallia’s image to interact with the Negaverse populace…”
Do the Negaverse agents know about this?
Christa tapped her pen lightly against the worn pages of the journal, leaning her chin against the heel of her hand. “...you had mentioned that this Caedus person took you to the Negaverse home… Obviously, you survived.” She waved to his very being, every part of him that sat in the chair before her. “I can safely assume the assault wasn’t successful, since Negaverse agents are still in the city. What did you find, when you went to the Negaverse home?”

“Caedus still here, outside of city….he would be caught if in the city. Can take you to him so you can ask more. But that is what he told me...but yes - two separate beings...one was human and one never was.” He said nodding his head to his own words. He had taken the time to speak with Caedus, in the hopes of learning more, in finding more justification in his own side and fighting for it.
“Some brought back many starseeds...don’t know where from. Other group brought back a piece of knights code...was down there long time, maybe since beginning - was corrupted. Isn’t now.” He answered while wondering if there was anything else which they had found.
“Saw what looks like down there..but nothing special there...General turned knight of Ganymede wanted to go after Metallia...didn’t make it - don’t think so. Is still alive so don’t think he made it.” he’d already mentioned a General Queen being killed, by her own hand in a manner of speaking.
“Caedus hoped we could strike at Metallia...but could not. Too many officers and youma...still must have surprised them...saw enough dead on both sides. Caedus wants to help us win...don’t know how many have talked to him or what others know...just know what I know. Also gave me and another each half of same rock…” Fingering the necklace he wore around his neck, having not taken it off much since he’d made it in order to wear his half of the small rock. “Think he gave other things to people - has many things...do not know what or if helpful. But with this can feel emotions from other halfs owner if strong enough or focus on him.” He didn’t mention who or that they were his partner, it wasn’t needed information. But that he had given them something magical, even if that magic was very limited and not all that helpful, it was something worth mentioning he figured.
The stone, held inside a hand wrapped, and beaded, wire cafe was red with purple like veins moving through it. It wasn’t that big but it stood out...looked like some hand made jewelry that lots of people wore. No one would suspect it was more - a lot more.

Christa went back to scribbling furiously in the journal as Seung described the battle with the Negaverse. If one person, Caedus, could open a portal or gateway or something directly into the Negaverse… they were incredibly resourceful, or incredibly powerful. Or perhaps even both. “The fact that your sudden appearance surprised the Negaverse… I assume Metallia would keep her defenses high, but having someone breach what you thought was an impenetrable wall…” The woman couldn’t help but laugh just a little bit.
She doubted it would happen a second time. Such offensive maneuvers typically only worked a single time.
“I’m not familiar with a knight code, Seung. What is that? I know corrupted Knights become Negaverse agents and vice versa...” Even though her interactions with knights were fairly limited, she didn’t recall anyone mentioning a ‘code’. Perhaps it was something sacred to knights, like a moon or a star was to a senshi. And the word ‘code’ could mean anything - coded data, a ritual, a set of laws….
Knowing that this Caedus person was still in the city, even after a questionably-successful assault on the Negaverse, spoke volumes towards Metallia’s power. “If… if you think it would be possible,” she started, again tapping the pen against paper, thinking aloud. “...would you show me this Caedus person? I’m not sure I’d be of much used to him, but my curiosity is insatiable, you see.” And oh did she have volumes of questions for Caedus.

“Couldn’t have done it if not for us. Gave energy to help...met him twice - we all did. First arriving and found he gave crystals to take and store energy in. Many gave own energy. Second meeting he took them all...opened portal using them. Couldn’t hold for long though - took a lot. Cosmos saved us..brought us to the moon. Said something, don’t remember what, about courts and brigades...senshi and knights..about ancient times being these things.”
Surprised, for a moment, that she hadn’t heard of the knights code he wondered how many knights she knew. “Knight code...each knight at wonder has piece. Piece also at Olympus - on Mars. Can talk to us...give answers. Is where power for knight comes from...not from the planet but from knight code. They had piece down there...it had been old Earth’s Kingdom...palace….is now Negaverse space. So maybe was piece belonging there...do not know. Was corrupted though. All knights at gathering we had took small piece of corruption, let it flush out of our system, in order to help code piece and untaint it - purify it...sort of…”
Nodding his head to her question he smiled. “Lives in forest outside of city. Can bring you to him...should bring him food. He only gets what people bring him...or gets from nature.” Which in the winter wasn’t likely to be much. “Brought him blankets and things to keep safe and warm - very cold out and snow...did not want him to freeze...has helped us so much.” And he felt they owed it to him.

Christa nodded vigorously. There was so much she didn’t know, and was anxious to find out. Her appetite for knowledge was voracious. “I’d like to know more about Cosmos as well. I know of Cosmos as a concept, but it is also a person? That I did not know.”
She was quiet for a few moments, furiously scribbling as many notes as she could about Cosmos, Caedus, a portal, energy gathering, Metallia and Beryl being two separate creatures… It turned out Seung had so much more information than Christa initially gave him credit for. She was certain Princess Ganymede would be nothing short of proud.
“Seung… thank you. You’ve given me quite a bit to chew on, as it were.” She chuckled then, an odd sound, as if she didn’t laugh often. “I’d like to gather up a few more things before trying to visit this Caedus person. Would you mind if I contacted you again later, to try and set up a meeting? I have so much reading and writing to do…”

“Is a senshi….saved us all. Opening to Negaspace was closing and would have been stuck...too many youma to get to portal in time. She pulled us all to the moon. Was a lot of energy for her and worried people. Don’t know if she was happy with us for acting like we did.” She couldn’t remember it all as he’d been rather injured himself. He just knew he’d been on the moon and safe and that Cosmos was the reason for it.
While he had information, maybe a good deal of it, he didn’t know the ancient history of the original war. He knew there was one though, he figured they all did, and that was the puzzle pieces he knew he was missing. He was sure there were many more he didn’t even know about which were also missing, things he may never know - that no one would. But he could try and gather the ones he knew of, find what information he knew was out there in order to fill in the bigger picture. It was best to understand this as much as possible.
“You are welcome. I am glad I could give some information to you. It is all I have...I don’t know of the past of this war and have not been a knight long.” Shrugging his shoulders and sipping his drink he enjoyed the warmth of the cup between his hands. “Of course. Then I will take you. We should cook before hand - to bring him food. Cheaper to cook than to buy already made food. He eats a lot...and doubt he can find enough in woods this time of year.” If he was going to help the other get home, he should ask the name of his planet when he next saw Caedus, he needed to keep him well fed and alive.
“Can you tell me about past? Where this started? This time and last?” He asked finally, staring down at the cup clasped between his hands.

The young woman wondered then if Cosmos and Queen Serenity were the same person. No, that couldn’t be right… or could it? Could the universe, known as cosmos, manifested as a single entity to act as an avatar? Maybe her theory about Beryl and Metallia was right, but not with those two particular people. There was so much to examine, pull apart and piece back together again. Her mind was racing with possibilities.
“Like you, I have precious little about the past, but…” Christa intertwined her fingers, resting her chin upon the cradle. “...there once was a huge battle, Chaos had ambushed us as we gathered together. The forces of Order, I mean.” She swallowed a lump in her throat, recalling how much blood was shed and how many people lost their lives. “Even the cats couldn’t dampen our signatures enough. We found a new corrupted Princess - Leto. She was in the service of Ares, Dark Mirror Queen. We were losing - badly - Chaos had the element of surprise and an increased number of royals… we didn’t stand a chance.”
Her voice lowered, as if honoring the fallen and the tenacity of Chaos to indulge in such bloodshed. “Moon Queen Serenity had used some kind of tremendous power to whisk us away to the Moon itself. There are great ruins there, a vast amount of history. According to the vision of Serenity, Chaos cannot touch the Moon.”
Why that was, Christa could only guess. Serenity must have had incredibly power to keep the Moon safe even long after her passing. “....I can take you there. I still have the charm that allows travel to the Moon. Maybe, in exchange for allowing me to see Caedus, you can see the Moon. There is so much history there, Seung. So much more than I can describe...”
She shook her head. That was for another time. “...there is one more thing. Long ago, I met a senshi who said her name was Chibimoon. She came from another universe, like Ares did, but where she went after all this time, I do not know. I do not know if the events in her original universe parallel what’s happening here. I’ve never seen anyone else named Chibimoon. But the fact that powers from other universes can enter ours… that’s a bit frightening. But similarly, if evil powers can entire this universe, like Ares, so too can powers of good, like Chibimoon…”
With a sigh, she leaned back in her chair, pondering. “Moon Queen Serenity did not respond to our questions. It was as if she was a hologram, or a ghost. My theory is that Chaos ripped apart the moon, and the past where senshi and knights lived all across the universe. There was a vision on my moon of the Kallichore-of-the-past, witnessing the end of civilization. I believe Moon Queen Serenity preserved what she could, when she could. And if Caedus is correct - Chaos is an unnecessary byproduct of creation. Perhaps Chaos is simply doing what is its nature to do…”
Much existential, such theory. Wow.

“Chibimoon...small moon…” He said slowly, as everything else Christa said sunk in that stuck out. That was odd...Japanese and American and using the word small...but that was to describe a person who was short or a small child. If the senshi was a little senshi then it could apply, as it did with the really young senshi they had, but from the sound of it this senshi wasn’t a preteen. So unless she was short...but still it was the same as saying Kallichore for the other. So why small or short moon?
Shaking his head after a moment he sighed, no point in analyzing that. It didn’t serve a purpose, other than to leave him with one or two unanswered questions, so he focused himself on everything else Christa said.
“Been to moon twice - would like to go again. Didn’t get to see or do much first time - injured too much. Second time was meeting on one room. Can bring you to Caedus no problem.” He didn’t know about this charm but he did wonder if he could get one for himself, it might prove useful in the future.
“If things can pass from universe to universe….can be bad or good...could bring more help to us in war - or more to them. Could ruin things also...veil between universe’s is thin and weak...what can pass through without us knowing and why is no one to watch it and stop these things?” But where would someone watch even and how to stop such a thing? There had to be somewhere - right? But if it was true, as it seemed to be, that there were many universe’s with different scenarios playing out - all at once. That left a lot of possibilities especially if people from one could enter another, though how he did not know. It was, potentially, dangerous but also it could help them and be what could win things for them. But to break such a thing….something that seemed like it would cause more harm than good in the long run….like breaking a law of the universe or nature.
“Do not like the idea...very complex and too many things to maybe happen.” No, the idea was too up in the air for him. It was something he’d mention to Terry though and his elder cousin, who was a newly awakened knight.
“Chaos should be...balance - good and bad...both sides of coin and no prediction on behavior. This part - Metallia is bad though. Maybe rest is ok but not her. Rest does in it’s nature maybe.”

Christa nodded as well when Seung put two-and-two together. “Yes, small moon. I’m not sure why. I figured out that the word chibi means small or young or little, since all the younger senshi refer to themselves as such. But the Chibimoon I met was an adult, like you and I. She was shorter than the two of us, but definitely fully grown. Why she used the name, I haven’t the slightest idea. But she wore Moon regalia - a crescent on her forehead and a strange-looking pink wand. I’ve never seen another senshi like her before, or since. Lots of pink and long pigtails.”
Seung brought up and excellent point - if things could get into their universe, that meant an entire other ballgame’s worth of problems if those things ended up being antagonistic like Ares was. She tapped her fingers on her chin then, wondering aloud. “I wonder, Seung, if the veil isn’t as thin as we think it is. Would it be a possibility that it’s difficult for things to arrive here from somewhere else? Ares mentioned her own Queen, and I saw another pre-Dark Mirror senshi from the same universe as Ares, named Gaia. What happened to Gaia, I don’t know, but I recall Ares mentioning her Queen was deceased. Perhaps people from other universes have a difficult time surviving here, for whatever reason.”
She then wondered whatever became of Chibimoon. It had been years.
“Maybe someone is watching that veil, and stopping most things from coming in. It’s hard to say. That might be a question for Caedus. I have quite a few of them for him. But you’re right - if he lives in the woods, he’ll need food and supplies to survive if he’s unwilling or unable to move into the city.” Christa then gathered her journal and slung her bag over her shoulder, standing up. “I’ll take you to the Moon whenever you like, but the window is short. We have to wait until the Moon is full in the sky before we can travel…”

“Wonder who first decided on chibi - not Japanese people here...and if so why use that when English is spoken more here.” That was what got him the most. Why use a nonnative language and pair it with a native word. At least they could have used two Japanese words. But why use it at all…? And why were they senshi? That was another case of a Japanese word mixed in with English around it and in predominantly English speaking area. It was very odd to him
“Don’t know...maybe a big moon is where she is from? Does not make sense. Did wonder why senshi used here. Means warrior,...guardian, fighter or soldier. Fits but why Japanese used.” He had to wonder if one of the first ones was Japanese and had decided to use that term. But even he’d have used something fitting in English rather than Korean.
“Maybe...or maybe reality here is difficult...cause too different or they not belong here and cannot handle mentally. Is very interesting but deep topic. Maybe best ask others and discuss the idea and get thoughts...maybe someone knows of veil. Isn’t veil between world of living and dead. Maybe similar veil?” He said thoughtfully. He’d read a book or two which had mentioned it, he liked to read...if he had his choice he’d be a literature major - not a business major.
“He said is unable. They would all sense him - like we can...they would kill him.” Watching her stand up he did the same thing. Pulling on his coat and shoulder his messenger bag. “Ok, will find next full moon and we go. Cannot go on Lunar new Year though - big holiday and will be away for it.” At least he hoped. He had to talk with Terry about going back home for the holiday. He hoped the other understood, though he honestly was very understanding.
“Will see you again soon - must keep in touch.” He’d text her later and send her his e-mail address and other social media contacts, so they could keep in touch. “Be safe, please.” And maybe they could go out on a patrol together at some point.
