It had been a surprise when Caliban had gotten a reply to his request for a senshi to talk to. He had been wanting someone that he could rely on to ask questions about himself and help him figure out his purpose in all of this fighting and being a senshi and all of that. Sure, he had gotten some information from others, but it was a bit tiring having to find different individuals to tell him different things about the White Moon. Honestly, he just wanted to be able to sit down and talk and maybe vent a bit! Why did he have to get information even from knights about what a senshi was?! Really, he didn't want to seem ungrateful... but he had pretty much been thrown into all of this without so much as a basic run-down! He sighed as he paced a bit in the park, waiting for his contact to arrive. He breathed a few times, trying to calm himself. It would do no good if he had an attitude with the senshi who was supposed to mentor him during their first meeting.

As someone who'd been in the fray for at least five years, Denebola did her very best to be accessible and reachable when it came to newly awakened senshi who were left without more questions than answers. Having responded to the request for a meeting, the dragonfly senshi found herself walking apprehensively towards the dim order aura.
Part of her wondered if this was some ornately drawn trap but the other side of her insisted that she was going to believe the best in people.
Not too long after she stepped into the encompassing area that the aura stretched over, did she find the boy waiting for her. Carefully, with a soft smile, she stepped closer. "I hear you're looking for someone to talk to?"

Caliban had felt the other coming toward him and waited patiently as she approached. He relaxed a bit when she smiled at him, meaning that he probably wasn't bothering her with his request. Not that he was too worried about it, but at least she had come and didn't look annoyed. He nodded. "Yes... I'm pretty new to this whole senshi stuff and I haven't really been able to talk to anyone about what a senshi is. Who and what I'm supposed to fight, sure. But what a senshi is? I have no idea. I have no idea why I'm doing any of htis really." He caught himself, noticing that he had started rambling before he had even told her his name. "I'm Caliban."

The man looked young, but not so terribly that she wanted to shake a cat for awakening him, which was something at least. Even still, she wanted to shake whatever cats were going around and awakening people without properly equipping them with knowledge or contacts.
Irresponsible, the lot of those felines.
"It's okay," she replied immediately, offering him a soft smile. "It's a lot to take in, no matter how much you get told or what get explained." Okay, she was going to try to give the cat the benefit of the doubt. For now.
"It's nice to meet you Caliban, my name is Super Sailor Denebola." They'd start there. "So, I'm going to need to know what you've been told and what questions you want answered first. I don't - I won't have all the answers, but I'll have some at least and I'll do my best to get the rest of them for you as I'm able."

She was willing to give him some information at least. That was better than the small and stilted conversations he had so far with other Order members. Even if Denebola didn't have all of the answers, she seemed to want to do her best at least, which was good enough for him. "Thank you. I'm glad I can ask someone about all of this stuff. I think I've had most questions answered through smaller conversations with others, but I still need a bit of help." He smiled back at her. "It's nice to meet you too Denebola." Her senshi name didn't roll off the tongue easily, but they couldn't all have easy names now could they? "I've been told the basics. Mostly that I'm a senshi and that I can visit my homeworld and the Negaverse are the ones we have to defeat. But..." He paused a bit, trying to figure out what to ask. "I don't really know what senshi are. We're obviously fighters who use magic to fight the Negaverse, but why do we fight them? I know that there are levels to being a senshi, I know there's super at least, but I've been told that there are higher levels than that? That's all so far. I don't want to overload you with all of the questions I have. You can answer them as slowly as you want." He wouldn't rush her, they had plenty of time to talk to each other.

"It's a lot of information to process," she said kindly, understanding evident. The war had been crawling at such a slow pace that Denebola wasn't entirely sure what to tell Caliban when he asked her why they fought.
"Well, the reason for fighting differs from person to person," she decided to start with. "For me, I fight to protect my friends and my family and the people who need it. For others, they view chaos as a parasitic poison that needs to be crushed beneath their heels."
Pause, with Denebola watching the boy curiously, to see how he was taking it all.
"It's kinda like - If you're not going to fight for yourself and what you want to protect, who will? The Negaverse, and maybe even the Dark Mirrors,' she wrinkled her nose, thinking of Remarque and how he'd seemed non-threatening but weren't they a chaos empowered too?
"They want to take everything. The negaverse managed once, obliterated life in the universe." She could remember the skeletons on her homeworld clearly. "We're trying to keep that from happening, in the hopes there's one day universal peace." And they could go home, to whatever that meant for them.
"One more, Eternal. There are...there are some that are considered...royals." Like Castor, whom she was keen on never dealing with again. "And then there are beings like Cosmos. I don't entirely know what she is, but she's something different all together."
Almost like the source of the negaverse, except her role wasn't to fight or lead them. She was different.

He wasn't really sure what to make of it. It almost sounded like there really wasn't a reason for him to fight, at least personally. Sure, he wanted to protect those he was close to, but otherwise... Was he really making a difference? He couldn't stop the surprise from showing on his face though when she said told him about what had happened with the Negaverse. That was certainly something different. That made it a bit more personal. He frowned, not really sure what to make of it. However it was interesting to hear about the Royal aspect. "Royals huh? That's surprising." Though with what he had heard about the history of what happened with the senshi, it shouldn't have been too surprising to hear that there was still some loyalty around. "So at this point it mostly seems I should find my own reason for fighting, not that I haven't had plenty of interactions with the negaverse already to know that they are bad news." But why was he doing it? Some of the fights he had gotten into so far he really shouldn't have, but almost felt like he had a duty because he was a senshi now. "I don't want to have to feel like I have to fight out of a sense of obligation."

"Royals are...something," she retorted, trying not to snort when she thought about the ones she knew of. "The don't have any authority over you, unless you allow it," she pointed out, quick to make sure that he understood that he was no obligated to bend to them just because they were a prince or princess.
"It's - " Denebola hesitated, unsure of where to go with her train of thought. Caliban looked like he was eager to learn and she wanted to support that.
"A lot of it, in my opinion, is personal. You shouldn't feel obligated, but you have a choice. You were born into a life with extraordinary capabilities and it's up to you to discover how you want to utilize it." The dragonfly senshi had many times when her faith and conviction had wavered but she had come back stronger before it.
"I'm never going to turn my back on people that need me, but I'm not going to fault someone for being scared or unwilling to risk their life when they're just trying to live theirs." She tucked loose hair behind her ear. "But, if you need someone to lead on or for a little bit of guidance, I'm here."

He smiled, though it might have come out as more of a smirk. "Seems kind of high and mighty of them then. Calling themselves by those titles and yet not having any authority. Seems they just want to feel a bit important." He felt it was okay to say this considering Denebola's reaction. Caliban also doubted that they had any sort of omnipotent power anyway, so they probably weren't listening into their conversation. He thought over her words for a bit. He didn't necessarily like all of the fighting, and felt like he could be doing something else to help, but he hadn't quite been sure about it. Denebola seemed to be at least hinting that he could possibly useful in some other way, though how could he? "I... thanks. I might need some guidance. I've been having to get from scattered, random conversations what I've wanted to learn, and it would be great to be able to turn to someone, even if they didn't have all of the answers. From the talks I've had so far, I've almost felt like a bit of an annoyance."Nuxaz If you want we can wrap this up in a post or two?

"It's - " Denebola hesitated, brow furrowing because she wasn't sure how best to describe the Royal class of senshi. "It's complicated. They didn't pick their titles as far as I know." Truth be told her exposure was minimal and she couldn't stand Castor's attitude long enough to sit and have a full conversation with him.
Egos were something she thought the White Moon could stand to do without.
"It's more about a power level. They're not our royals but they were their homeworld's? I think. You might need to talk to one of them, if you can find them." Sighting had been fewer and far between, but Denebola wondered if that was because they were being more inconspicuous, or if they just didn't care about the war anymore. "But without them, we don't have a chance of saving anyone that's gone dark. Without a Royal's crystal we can help them purify."
Even if she wished desperately that there were more ways.
"I've got resources and I'm here to help, Caliban. You can call me any time, okay?"

"Well, that's interesting to know at least. Not sure if I would want the title myself. I'd probably downplay it as much as possible." Well, at least they didn't seem too full of themselves then. "If I find one I'll talk to them. Though since you say they're so rare, I wouldn't be surprised if it took some time before I even saw one let alone talk to one of them." And he didn't have any burning desire to do so either. But hey, if he could he would. He was curious at least. He was thinking along the same lines as she. "Really? They're the only way. Sheesh. We need to come up with a better way or something."It was time to go though, for the both of them. It had taken a surprisingly long time for what seemed to be such a short conversation. "Right, well, thanks. You've been very helpful, even if we didn't talk about much. I can't think of anything else that I want to ask right now anyway." He said, smiling. "I'll try not to bother you too much, but thanks for being willing to take my calls. It helps to know that someone is willing to help you, especially if they have more experience. Really, thanks." He would wait for her reply, before finally going to be that night, sleeping a bit easier now that he actually knew more of what he was, and what was going on.
