Name: Ty'len (Tylefisan)
Age: 18
Sex: M
Sexual Orientation: Homosexual
Craft: Apprentice Harper
Rank: Candidate
Location: Western Weyr
Physical Description: Tylefisan stands about 6'0 and could be easily described as a beautiful man. He keeps himself in great shape with the long limbs of a runner. He's got broad shoulders, a trim waist, and though not bulging in muscle (he sports a more wiry look), he is quite fit. His skin is a light brown which tans easily in the sun. His thick, dark red hair frames his face in mess of loose curls and waves. He has chiseled features, thick brows, full lips that often sport an impish smile -- or a very kissable pout -- and warm golden brown eyes. He has long lashes that might well make a woman jealous, and is often thought to be a very attractive man, much to his delight. Tylefisan knows he looks good, and is more than happy to use it to his advantage.
Personality: This young harper is best known for his kind and amicable nature. Tylefisan is the sort of man who has little trouble making friends, and always has a good sense of humor. He loves to talk, and among those closest to him, could almost be considered a gossip; who doesn't want to know the latest rumor floating around the Weyr, or the great story he just heard coming by way of the kitchens! Tylefisan loves a good story -- what Harper doesn't? -- and is young and brash enough to share such things with others. He's a flirtatious creature, particularly towards men that he thinks he might stand a chance better getting to know, and is always full of compliments. When given an option to turn flirting into something more, this man is rarely the sort to say no. He likes what he likes, and is the sort to go out of his way and get it.

At his best, Tylefisan is a good friend and easy-going companion. He's the sort to make friends with wall flowers, and embrace newcomers with a warm welcome. He's the sort to take others under his wings, and make sure they're properly settled; he'll start a conversation with anyone, about anything, and should any of his people -- and just about anyone he meets will become his -- are in need of aid he will do whatever he can to help. If there is some great cause to better the world, count Tylefisan in. If one of his loved ones is in need, he will give the shirt off his back, all the marks in his pocket, and anything else he can to aid them. Tylefisan lives for the greater good.

At his worst, this Harper can be a nightmare. To start, for all his good humor and friendliness, there is a fiery temper boiling beneath the surface. While it does not often show, he can snap at others, or fall into a bout of impatience. Instead of jokes, this man can hit another with poisoned words, and have little regret tearing them to pieces. Furthermore, when he doesn't get his way, or things start crashing down around him, Tylefisan is known to brood. Instead of seeking the limelight, he'll fold into himself, and distance himself from others. He'll avoid social gatherings, retreat from friends who reach out, and find the most secluded places so he might brood. This is when Tylefisan's patience is at the thinnest, and his friends now to approach with caution and care. Depending on the severity of the situation which caused him to brood in the first place, he might keep such a dour mood for some time. Lastly, anyone foolish enough to hurt his most beloveds will find themselves a target. He is not the sort to forget or forgive; for him, it is not an eye-for-an-eye, but an eye-for-total-war. He will not hesitate to think of some sort of revenge; he doesn't easily let go of slights against himself or his family and dearest friends. Only at times of great duress and pain will his ugliest sides show.

History: Tylefisan was originally born and raised in Bitra Hold on the Northern Continent. The Hold was large and prosperous, and with a huge tourist population, it meant that one more child born among them was hardly noticed. His mother had been a local courtesan -- she had not been officially craft trained, but she thought herself as their equal. Unfortunately, the woman found herself and her baby out on the streets; if she wasn't going to give up the child, than the brothel had no room for a simple whore.

His mother worked jobs that she could to provide for the two of them. Unfortunately for Tylefisan, she passed away from illness one winter, and left her young son to fend for himself. This is where most of his early memories begin -- he remembers the cold winters, the hot summers, the sting of hunger, and of course the faces of strangers. It didn't take him long to be ensnared by a local brothel, desperate for an extra edge. They thought that, maybe, they could train him young and shape him to be a low-cost worker -- far more practical than paying the outrageous prices for an actual Courtesan trained worker! -- and get free labor out of the deal.

So it was, he was given basic room and board -- his room was a storage room, his meals scraps and leftovers from the night meals. During some evenings he'd be groomed and put out front to sing to those in the waiting rooms; during the mornings and afternoons he'd help scrub floors, dry dishes, clean latrines, and whatever other work they needed. This included some question acts, with some questionable people, but he didn't care. He didn't let himself care. When he was good, he'd get extra treats, or even a place closer to the evening fires; when he was bad, he'd get beaten. So it was, the quick tempered child learned how to let that anger simply boil beneath the surface.

It was the only life he knew, the only life he remembered, and though it wasn't easy it could have been worse. Much worse.

As he grew, his chores changed. He did more singing and entertaining, and less physical labor; he became less of a slave and more of a fixture of the brothel. He was given his own little room, and as the brothel succeeded, so did his benefits. He bonded with many within the brothel, and though none of them were truly family, they stood up for one another.

At Turn 11 his entire life changed. He was discovered by a local Harper, who thought the boy gifted. Tylefisan knew not that the Harper was one of Fort's own Journeymen, visiting the Hold as a temporary replacement for a more permanent Harper. Every few nights the Harper would seek out Tylefisan and teach him a few trick of the trade, or give some advice on how to stand, how to breathe, how to practice. Finally, about a month later, the Harper asked if the boy wanted to return to the Harper Hall with him.

Did he? YES!

Arrangements were made -- Tylefisan never did ask nor did he get any details-- and that very night the young man took his first dragon ride back to Fort Hold and the Harper Hall.

For the next seven Turns the young man absolutely blossomed. Three square meals a day let him fill out and gain weight. He sprouted more than a few inches, and wound up turning into quite the handsome young man. Though he rarely spoke of his childhood, he did not grow bitter. Those at the Harper Hall were far kinder to him than he'd ever known, and he did find himself fostered under the care of an older man named Gheross. This was one of the first forms of real kindness and care that he'd ever had;Gheross taught him accountability, responsibility, and how to trust another. Instead of getting beatings when he did wrong or caused trouble, the silver haired man instead expressed patience and control. He tried to teach his young ward the same, with mixed results.

Just after his 18th nameday, Tylefisan got the shock of his life. Though he had been anxiously awaiting the day he might walk-the-tables to Journeyman -- he hoped it wold be sooner than later -- instead he found himself face-to-face with a blue dragon.

The rider found him on Search, and said he hailed from Western Weyr. If he accepted, he'd need to return to the Western Continent with him and put his harpering on hold.

It sounded like an adventure and opportunity of a lifetime.

So it was, he accepted the Search. While it was hard to leave his friends and Gheross behind, he knew that he'd be a fool to turn up this opportunity. He was a nobody, a nothing; could he really Impress a dragon? Ah, but even if he didn't, the Courtesan Hall wasn't far, and he was certain that there would be more than a few cute men to admire in the process. Pern needed dragonmen more than ever with Thread's return -- saying no was almost impossible. The Harper Hall would always be home to him, should he need to return. Furthermore, he could take his music with him no matter where he went!

With Gheross' blessing, and the Hall's best wishes, Tylefisan headed west to Western Weyr.

Other: He has a beautiful baritone voice, and specializes in playing stringed instruments, particularly the harp and guitar.

Name: Exiloth
Personality Exiloth is an arrogant creature, that much was clear the moment they hatched from the shell. Confidence oozes from her every pore, and she can be considered fearless under the right circumstances. In the wrong ones, she could well come off as foolish--not that she'd ever say or believe such a thing. Exiloth isn't the sort to be afraid of taking risks, or going against the rules, and it will be up to her rider to ensure that her over-confident attitude doesn't get them both into trouble. (It will.)

Hedonistic, Exiloth enjoys the fine things life has to bring. What's better than bathing, oiling, and eating? Exiloth will enjoy being spoiled as a hatchling, and such desires will only grow as they age. And why shouldn't she enjoy all the pleasures life can bring? There's more to life than duty, after all. While this dragon knows how to work hard when they are called upon, during her downtime Exiloth will be found indulging herself to the fullest. Only the fattest, and tastiest of herdbeast or wherry will do when it comes to hunting; and you can bet Exiloth's stone wallow will be covered in the finest silks.

To those Exiloth is closest to, this dragon will be happy conversationalist, and an even better listener. While she couldn't necessarily be called aloof, she is smart enough to know when it's best to listen and guide the conversation to subjects she wants to hear. And there is a lot this dragon likes to know--not just for her own interest, but for her rider's as well! Knowledge is power, after all, and Exiloth does enjoy having the upper hand when able. This green does enjoy learning about all the things that make their clutchmates tick, and any secrets they might be harboring.

Of course, learning all this does take time. Thankfully, Exiloth can be a patient being. She is the sort of dragon with an endgame in mind, and knows that seeds planted in the spring can reap a bountiful harvest later. There is very little this dragon does that doesn't have some angle for her benefit, her riders, or that of a closed friend or loved one. Exiloth, while not the most generous of dragons, can reap rewards among those she is closest to--especially when Theirs encourages such things.

Size: 28'
Physical Attributes: Exiloth is large for her color. She is more muscle-bound with large bones, and a little more weight than some of her smaller clutchmates. She's not fat--though too much indulgence might plump her up a bit if Tylefisan isn't careful. Exiloth's wings are large, which allows her greater stamina. Unfortunately, this isn't isn't great at turning as quick on wing as compared to others of their colors, and is less dexterous overall. Her legs are a but stouter than some, but she makes up for it with a longer tail and neck.

Additional Notes: Exiloth will adore flights, regardless if it's catching or chasing. If Exiloth can participate, count her in! While it's not impossible for her to be devoted to another, it would certainly require a very special dragon to catch her hearts and keep them.

Why Me: Like rider, like dragon, Tylefisan and Exiloth are a perfect match. At their heart, they are both social individuals, and will be found in almost constant conversation with one another. Where Tylefisan enjoys a bit of good-natured gossip and being well in the limelight, Exiloth will ensure the Harper always something new to share, and her confidence will only heighten Tyelfisan's own. They are both lovers of pleasure--Tylefisan will not hesitate to spoil Exiloth rotten, and Exiloth will make sure that Tylefisan need not ever feel alone or abandoned again. Though the Candidate might have grown up with a rough beginning, Exiloth will help bring purpose into his life.

Though they are similar in some ways, they also are different. Exiloth's calm and patient nature will help keep Tylefisan from doing something rash when he's at his worst. Vengeance might be due, certainly, but Exiloth will ensure that it's done right, if it must be sought at all. On the flipside, Tylefisan's generous and giving nature should very well rub off on Exiloth. Where this dragon tends to enjoy pleasure for pleasure's sake, it will be with much encouragement from their rider that Exiloth will share the spoils with their friends and favored clutchmates.

There is no doubt this pair will be a handful, for better or worse, but at their best, they will prove to be a competent and clever addition to Western Weyr.
